hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

The lone female released a tired yawn, her eyes heavy as she proceeded to stroll down the street at a sluggish pace. With her back slouched and her hands stuffed into her pockets, the young woman appeared to be in a foul mood. Or tired, at least. And she was. After being officially kicked out of the nest a week ago, Andrea had been left to discover her own path in this world. Yes, she wanted to be coordinator. But, what else?
"Eh, best to keep that one goal in mind and branch off from there."
Money. Money was also a fairly good idea. She'd win battles. Do small-time jobs and work her way up to entering her first contest. Contests meant big money and fame. Andrea managed to smile at the appealing image. But she'd have to figure out how to reach that point on her own.
Figure it out, her mother said.
Another sigh escaped her lip - one of many. At her heel a small Froakie hopped along, casting his owner curious glances as she made noises of discontentment. His mistress didn't appear terribly happy today.
"This sucks," she mumbled, halting suddenly.
The woman then threw her head back and shouted.
"THIS! FUCKING! SUCKS!"
She felt a little better now.
"Let's go find somewhere cheap to eat, Java."

Lapras, what pokémon to start with? A mumble under her breath, the girl with long brown hair makes her way towards the inevitable. Shit, here I thought I would be able to come off clean of this dumb business. She's rich, where the hell was she supposed to claim all of her glory now?
Long brown hair, violet eyes, dress perfectly in a black and white plaid shirt with a dark bomber jacket, matching well was her dark blue jeans and the combat boots. As she walks aimlessly, with her thoughts invading her own privacy, she hears a shout.
"THIS! FUCKING! SUCKS!"Amen to that sister, she can only muse.
Who really knows the situations which can ensue onwards. With her eyes forward, the girl frowns a bit. As she keeps on walking, her boots against the ground, she accidentally bumps into a girl. "Ah, sorry for that," she fixes her footing so as to not fall down or backwards.
Across the clear of her eyes, there's annoyance. Charlie felt curious, and as soon as she became curious, she was interested in the idea of learning this peculiar character. "You okay? You look a bit weary, or rather, annoyed."

Well lookie here! Somethin' to lighten the mood and get her heart pumpin' to the rhythm of love. The woman's posture immediately straightened as she faced the pretty female, grinning roguishly as her mood lifted a good deal and she eyed the beautiful creature settled before her.
"'mm perfectly fine," she drawled. "I should be the one apologizing, sweetness. A girl of my standing should be stepping aside for one such as ya, ya know?"
The girl looked like the wealthy sort. Something about her appearance spoke volumes. She had style. And it looked fresh in comparison to her own worn down clothing. There was a chance Andrea was wrong. Because there was a hint of street swagger added to that sway and step of hers. Mixed signals were cast in her direction. Eh. But why not continue? Most ordinary folk weren't too bothered by a bit of verbal pampering.
"I guess I was," she admitted, chuckling roughly. "But, I'm feeling much better now. Guess that bump shook those sour thoughts free. I really appreciate it, miss."
Andrea appeared slightly bemused as she leaned closer, visually examining the stranger. Her gaze lingered occasionally, but she maintained her suave attitude enough to resettle it onto the girl's face.
"How rude of me. The name's Andrea. Andrea Warren. And this is my Pokemon, Froakie. Nice to meet cha, sweetheart."

To say she was annoyed is an understatement. To have a girl such as her to say such bittersweet words remind her of the father she loathes so much. A flash of annoyance crosses her eyes as she then takes in a deep breath to calm herself down. This was fine, alright, even. At least the person was alright. That's the matter now, correct?
"Oh, I don't really think it's necessary," she spoke, her voice is a bit of a dull. She can't help it, however, she tries to speak in a lighter tone, to make it sound like she was not bored. "Sorry, I'm not used to talking to people really."
To say she was in a sour mood is also beyond fathom. What to make things a bit more of the awkward, the girl notices how the person before her was dressed. A quick glance. She looks like the adventurer type...
That's the only thing to care for her really! Adventure...it's suppose to take you anywhere right? A partner to travel with would be good too. Looking at the person she can only think of what it would be like to go everywhere with no one to worry endlessly for you.
"Ah, no problem then, again, sorry for bumping into you," she apologises again. It's an instinct of hers. Much like saying 'no' is a difficulty.
She flinches only a bit when Andrea calls her sweetheart. It reminds her of the time before she was forced out of her own family home. It hurts really. How can she let it go? "I'm Charlie, Charlie LeBeau. My pokémon is a Lapras by the name of Jarius. It's nice to meet the both of you though."
Charlie reaches out for Andrea's hand and shakes it firmly. She doesn't want to be viewed as weak.

Awwww, shit. There it was.
Years of practice left Andrea fully aware of the new female's discomfort. Those subtle hints were obvious signs for her to back off. A tinge of annoyance tickled at her mind-scape as she acknowledged that detail, with her smile lessening noticeably. But she returned the handshake, her grip firm as she nodded in response to the female's introduction.
"Lapras, huh? That makes for one big ass starter. I didn't expect mine, in all honesty. I was actually hoping for a fire-type."
Andrea glanced at her starter, the Pokemon releasing a delighted croak in response to the attention he was receiving.
"Eh, but he ain't too bad. He's kinda cute, I guess."
Her gaze shifted toward the girl, mentally spitting out obscenities as she realized the beautiful creature wasn't for her. A pity. She makes for nice eye candy, at least. Andrea's stomach began to grumble in complaint, reminding its owner of its lack of sustenance. Oh, she still needed food. Right. Stepping away from the female, Andrea paused briefly to peer over her shoulder at the trainer.
"I'm gonna find some chow. Wanna come with, Charlie?"
oh man, look at all these new trainers! cleo and ross were on the lookout for potential trainers. it looked like they would be pretty plentiful since professor birch's invitations were handed out. they spotted two people can ran up to them.
"hi hi!" cleo chirps in a bright voice. she shoves the microphone towards charlie's face. "would you guys mind a battle and interview?"

Crap. Did she do something wrong? When the two shook hands, her smile lessens. Should it bother her as she was a bit nervous of what this person thinks? Even her grip in the handshake makes her feel a little less awkward. It won't bother her a bit. The girl before her looks quite nice.
"Yeah, Lapras is quite big, I thought I would get a fire cracker too haha," she shakes her head and releases her hand from the girl. There's no warmth anymore, just the cold enveloping her hand.
A glance at the Froakie, the girl smiles lightly, the frog looks quite cute with the light blue textures. It's true, she can agree with Andrea with that part. The girl remembers when she met a Greninja at one point. He stood so tall and proud, he was a protector of some small pond that was close by.
Charlie didn't notice the girl shift over, a move. When she spoke about food, the girl's eyes light up. Food? Yes please. The girl only nods and turns to follow the girl. "Yeah, yeah, sure, sounds really good now." Luxurious as it was to have the money in the world, the girl refuses to spend it on herself to spoils end. A stay in the Pokémon Centre was better than anything else in the world.
At least this wouldn't be too bad.
As if the great Arceus himself was cursing the girl. There was a reporter and a camera. Shit ignore ignore. A microphone was to her face. There's a look on her face, as if she was already annoyed enough. "Well, Andrea do you want to battle?" she asks as she warily asks the girl. Her eyes still to the camera with the unimpressed look. "I don't particularly mind since I won't hold myself back really."

Andrea perked up in response to having a camera and microphone thrust toward her recently acquired human companion. She took the time to grin wickedly at the impressive set up, eyes gleaming as she realized that this was the perfect opportunity for the public to be granted a glimpse of her potential.
"I'm in!"
The young woman then stifled the urge to snicker at Charlie's lack of enthusiasm.
"I'm totally in. A free battle and an interview? Talk about good luck! Am I right or what, Java?"
Her wolfish grin and excitement was positively infectious, her Pokemon responding to her enthusiasm by slamming his paws against the earth with a soft thump. A determined look formed, the expression a genuine show his own eagerness.
"That's my boy!"
"Froakie!"
"We're ready when you are!"
Andrea spread out her arms, retreating a few steps as she allowed the pure feel of confidence to ooze from her very pores. This was gonna be wicked. This was gonna be awesome. All the troubles of the world were gonna shift away from her general focus as she exchanged blows.
"alrighty, let's get started then!" cleo says. she nods to ross, urging to to pull his out, too. clefairy and machop materialize before the two trainers. ross pushes the button. the red light flashes, it's recording.
cleo takes the microphone and brings it back close. "alrighty, looks like these beginning trainers are starting one of their first battles!" she says. clefairy waits until both of their pokemon are out, but machop is relentless. he dives towards the froakie, aiming to low kick it's feet from under it.

A groan escapes her lips a bit. Somehow, she doesn't like the reporter. Then again, all form of social media is lost upon her. She never understood why it was all important for this to happen. Taking a few steps back and allowing space. She stands next to Andrea.
Out from her pocket was a pokéball. "Alright, let's go Jarius," she tosses out the pokéball revealing her Lapras. Water would have been better to be nearby. She was unsure if her Lapras could handle the heat for now.
She wants the battle over with so she can move on from elsewhere. "Alright, let's just do whatever really," she scratches her head. She doesn't know what moves her pokémon has, but, hopefully they won't suck.
When she heard of Andrea talking, she shook her head and laugh. "That's a bit hilarious to say you know," she grins to Andrea. Her violet eyes twinkle. She looks back at the reporter. "Yeah, let's see what you got, Miss."
Jarius let's out a snort and goes full on with a water gun. Towards the Clefairy.

Froakie faced the Machop, tracking its quick motions as it lunged in his general direction.
"Try dodging it, boy!"
The Pokemon considered her demand for a brief moment before pressing its petite figure against the ground and executing an impressive leap. Flinging itself into the air, the water-type executed an elegant flip. Andrea paused briefly to admire her Pokemon's natural grace before releasing an excited growl as her lips curled and she showed teeth.
"Bubble!" She shouted.
The Pokemon followed through with the order while he remained within the air, his collection of shimmering bubbles launching toward the fighting-type. Froakie landed seconds later, trembling from a barely suppressed excitement as it faced the Machop.
"both trainers are going offensive, but now it's out turn!" cleo says. the bubbles hit him square in the face. he's temporarily blinded. he shakes his head to rid of the suds. ross yells out in surprise as some of it gets on his camera. clefairy's not that far behind. they're both equally wet.
"switch!" the reporter yells. they change opponents. clefairy goes for froakie instead, opening its mouth and sending a disarming voice at it. machop, on the other hand, does another low kick. although it's huge, he can't help but try right?

A loose of breath, the girl looks at the reporter and shakes her head. This needs to be over with really. She was a bit hungry, especially after capturing a zigzagoon. Her granola bar is gone completely and she can only think of food for this moment. A click of her tongue when the two pokémon's switch with one another. A groan let loose from her throat.
This battle would have been better if she was in the mood to actually battle someone. What to do? She's in confusion now. A sigh escapes her breath as she then let's Jarius do his own work.
The Lapras was hit by low kick, the Transport Pokémon glares and used GROWL at first. An open of his mouth, the pokémon lets out a shriek. Her spine tingles, it bothers her greatly. And then it's followed out by WATER GUN once more. Pay attention to the battle.

Froakie cringed as the pink-tinted energy was thrust toward him. Tumbling backward it grimaced, the strike resulting in a good hit to its midsection. The Pokemon struggled to stand, his mistress encouraging him to resume with an excited shout.
"We just started, Froakie! I know ya got it in ya!"
The water-type released a croak in response and squinted its eyes at Clefairy - eager to exact its revenge in the form of combat.
"Ignore it! We're aiming for Machop! Damn thing moves too much! Hit it with a Pound!"
Froakie followed the command with a brief show of reluctance as its gaze slowly shifted toward the Machop.
"Move your ass!" Andrea urged. "And get with the fucking program!"
The water-type released a noise akin to a snarl as it lunged toward the fighting-type after Lapras had completed it's action. Aiming toward the gray Pokemon's middle, the Froakie swung its glowing paw with a small roar.

"the battle's getting close! seems like our pokemon are getting the brunt of it..." cleo says, commenting on it every so often. clefairy and machop are on their last leg.
clefairy's too weak to do anothe attack. she growls at lapras in a last attempt to ward it's attacks. meanwhile, machop goes for a smaller target. he leaps forward, aiming to swipe low kick his leg under the froakie's.
