THE SHORE WAS AMAZING, she had to admit. There was a certain beauty, a certain calmness that came with the ocean that Bunny couldn't quite explained but found herself addicted. If she could, she'd stay as close to the sea water as possible, but she knew there was a time and place for everything.
Now, however, was a time to relax. Bunny was away from the hustle and bustle of Petalburg, but only for an hour or two. She wasn't a huge fan of places that were crowded with unfamiliar faces, so after a little while she opted to take a break.
In a cutie little bikini by some Kalos boutique and a pair of sunglasses, Bunny lied on her beach towel on a deserted-looking area of the beach. Not too far away was a little shack with a dock and a ship, and then a large, spanning forest was behind it, alive with life. But the beach was silent besides the lapping of the waves against the sand, and she loved it.
Her Dratini, Diana, was lied out flat beside her in the sand. The dragon pokémon usually coiled up like a snake when she napped, but today she wriggled her body under the sand so she could be comfortably baked by the warm sun overhead. The rest of Bunny's team, made up of a Dedenne, Stunky, Cherubi, Seedot, and a Mareep, were doing whatever took their fancy. Dolly was digging burrows in the sand while Salem and Cheri chased the waves back and forth. Andy set himself away from the others, but somewhat closer to Bunny curled up in a dug-out hole of cooler sand. Overall, it was so relaxing Bunny almost felt like she could fall asleep . . . .
what was a deerling doing on a beach? she was horribly lost. she was trying to find her way back home into the woods but she somehow ended up here. she walked up to a sleepy trainer and nudged her arm gently. maybe she could help?
BUNNY WAS NEARLY UNCONSCIOUS when she felt a cold, wet nudge on her shoulder. Blinking awake, she rubbed her eyes and found a Deerling looking down at her, looking somewhat worried.
"Oh, hey cutie, is something wrong?" She sat up and moved her sunglasses to the top of her head as she looked at the poor thing. "Do you need any help? Want a treat?" Always having poképuffs on hand was one of her "things," she guessed. Bunny started rummaging through her bag for her poképuff case, pulling it out for the Deerling to see. "You can have one if you want, we won't mind." Bunny motioned towards her other pokémon, hoping the Deerling would see them as a friendly group and not intimidating. "We can all help you, just tell us what you need."
deerling doesn't want a tread! she wanted to get back home. she flinched when the trainer pulled out a pokepuff case. she backed up a few spaces. she gestured away from the beach. help the poor deerling get home! or battle it
SHE NODDED AND RETURNED the box of poképuffs into her bag when the Deerling shook her head. It seemed too urgent for a snack to the poor Deerling. Standing up, Bunny motioned to Diana and Dolly, the strongest and most experienced in her team. She didn't know if something was happening in a nearby area, and she wanted back-up in case there was a rogue pokémon or trainer starting trouble.
"Do you want us to follow you to the problem, or are you lost?" Bunny watched as the Deerling reacting, hoping to get either a nod or shake of the head so she knew what to do. "We'll help you all that you need, cutie." Bunny picked up her bag in preparation before walking towards the vague direction the pokémon had motioned towards. Diana and Dolly followed closely behind.
deerling led the trainer into a forest. she was still as lost as ever and she wondered if she was ever going to go home. maybe she should just go with the trainer instead? but then a wild dustox appeared and started attacking the deer. what a bully.
dustox used tackle on deerling! help or run? BUNNY BECKETT
BUNNY AND HER SMALL TEAM followed the Deerling into the nearby forested area, where sunlight poked through the leaves and left shadows everywhere else. The more she watched the pokémon look around helplessly, confused on which direction to go, the more Bunny's heart begin to swell and she began to wish she could just scoop the Deerling up and give her a new home on her team. It would definitely fit in well, not to mention be a wonderful contender at contest. But she didn't want to pressure it — if it wanted to go home, it wanted to go home, and that was that. On the off chance it ended up wanting to join Bunny and her pokémon, it would be welcome with open arms.
It was a good ten or so minutes later when Bunny decided the poor thing was lost and didn't know which way to go. "Do you see anything you recognize? Like a certain shrub or rock?" She didn't really know if the Deerling understood her, but regardless she tried to talk to it anyways. Bunny was sure to keep her tone of voice quiet and friendly in an attempt to calm it.
Before she could even get an answer, a purple-and-green pokémon showed up out of nowhere, attacking the Deerling with seemingly no reason. Bunny was only shocked for a moment before jumping straight into strategics.
"Hey, you big bully!" She waved widely, hoping to distract the Dustox enough for the Deerling to get some space. Almost immediately after, Bunny shouted, "Ice Beam! Thunder Shock!"
SHE WAS SURPRISED to see the Dustox faint so early, she really wasn't expecting it. But no matter, the bully got what was coming to it.
Bunny got down on her knees and hugged the Deerling as it approached her. It seemed the smaller pokémon was gung-ho for joining Bunny now, and with joy bursting in her heart she accepted a new member of her team. When the pokéball was finished doing its thing, Bunny watched as it transported immediately to her PC. She'd have to swap out another poké later. But for now...
Bunny stuck her tongue out at the Dustox. Although she loved all pokémon to a certain extent, she wasn't going to take in a random bully. But she was nice enough to at least move the Dustox under a well-covered shrub and place a few nearby berries beside it for when it came up again. Now it was time to return to her original space on the beach and continue her rest. Though if another wild pokémon decided to avert her course, she certainly wouldn't mind.
as the trainer made her way back to the beach there was a shadowy figure following her. he observed her for a while before making his sudden appearance, floating in front of her face. he made a little 'boo' noise to try to scare her.
BUNNY HADN'T EVEN NOTICED the tiny ghost pokémon on her tail, merely lost in her own joy. The warmth of summer, the distant sound of the water splashing on to the sand, and her new cute little Deerling! All of it made her feel so full of life and happiness that she could just burst with —!
She shrieked, jumping and scaring the pokémon that with her. Something had flown into her face and said something and and and –
Oh. It was just a little ghost pokémon. Bunny laughed a little and rubbed the back of her head, despite being quite shaken.
"Oh, hey there," she said with a quiet laugh, a blush rising to her cheeks. She could feel her heart pounding in her throat. "You sure did scare me, ahah," she attempted to grin at the Shuppet.
this trainer seemed very friendly! she put a smile on shuppet's face. most people he scared would just run away or attack him. but not her. hmm, maybe she was just a good human? shuppet thought about it, floating over to her head and plopping himself down on it. onward!
shuppet would like to go with you! capture? BUNNY BECKETT
SHE DIDN'T REALLY EXPECT the Shuppet to take a liking to her so quickly, but Bunny definitely didn't mind. Her body eased as the tiny ghost pokémon settled on top of her head with confidence practically oozing out of it. She let out a giggle. "Well aren't you a cutie. I think I'll keep you, if that's alright."
So today wasn't all that bad at all. She didn't exactly get the relaxing retreat she had planned, but Bunny figured that this was a lot better. She looked at her pokémon (besides the Shuppet of course, he was still situated on her head) and grinned with overwhelming joy. Two new additions to her traveling family, and she couldn't possibly be happier about it. Bunny wouldn't change today for the world.
