[attr=class, lutxt] You know what were good for pokemon? Berries. Syndra was used to finding and picking berries from the wild when raising her two brothers as they usually had little to get by on. Her knowledge for such a thing was probably more vast that others by far. It hadn't taken Syndra long to find a few Oran and Pecha berry trees, picking the few bits of ripe fruit off of them before walking and continuing on her way. Taking an Oran berry in her hand she decided to snack on it as she was on her way to Oldale. Turtwig was in his pokeball taking a nap which was fine. If it was lighter then Syndra wouldn't have minded carrying him but the thing was heavier than a bowling ball so being in its pokeball had to do. It was a shame though considering the sun out.
Berries were pretty dope, he knows this too. So while Basil went shopping in Oldale preparing for the next leg of their trip he decides to go back out to the route hoping to find a snacks for both him and his traveling companions, after all berries and Hoenn went hand in hand thanks to it's tropical climate year round. In truth he knew little to nothing about the types of berries found in the wild barely able to differentiate an Oran Berry from a Pecha berry. Not that it'd be surprising if he couldn't even do that. He walks along the route quietly Larvesta, or rather 'Sola' sitting atop his head now as the two moved through trees and bushes alike searching the route for the snacks they so desperately wanted. Whatever he's found thus far has already been confiscated by the small bug pokemon, despite his wishes. As he climbs out of another bush and enters the main route he spots a girl enjoying a snack of her own.
"Sorry if I startled you." He notices the berry she's currently eating. "I was just searching for berries, as you can see I'm not having much luck."

[attr=class, lutxt] She wasn't startled by the sudden appearance. Not in the slightest. Otherwise her brothers would have caught her off guard too many times. Syndra acted like it however and suddenly stopped in her steps with a bit of holding her breath. "Oh-" she would say as she eyed the man stepping out of the bushes. It wasn't strange to run into trainers but trainers with strange bugs on their heads? More strange. He mentioned looking for berries and considering she was eating one right in front of him, it wasn't as if she could dodge the fact she found berries. It was not like she didn't gather enough anyway let alone stuck up enough to not share. "I have some if you would like? I'm not sure what berries you're looking for but I have Oran and Pecha berries." She took a bite of the Oran berry in her hand to hold it in place as her free hands went into her bag to take out three oran and three pecha to show and offer.
He smiles at the girl not expecting her kindness. He looks her down quickly guessing she's a little younger than he is, He judhes three maybe four years or so. Just as he's about to thank the woman Sola makes her move, a small sticky web flying out of her mouth latching on to one of the Pecha Berries. With a slight yank the berry flies back onto his head where she begins nibbling at it not bothering to thank the stranger for her kindness, much to her trainer's dismay. Then again he supposes that's why he's there, leaving him to wonder who was really the leading this team. "I'm so sorry, she has a mind of her own." he attempts to laugh it off while pointing to the pokemon. He doesn't bother getting the pokemon to apologize. "I will take you up on that offer though." He slides his bag off laying it on the ground before placing a few berries in the traveling sack for later. "I'm sure it's obvious, but I'm new to this whole pokemon thing. Names Miles you are?" He decides to ask the woman's name it was only polite, and he planned to pay the woman back down the line somehow.

[attr=class, lutxt] She wasn't expecting the Larvesta to web a berry from her hand and it happened quickly so if she was not paying attention she might have accidentally crushed the fruit. Being the oldest of 3 children that took care of the other two, she was used to food and the like getting snatched out of her hands. Instead she laughed off the act as she handed the rest to the trainer. "Hey it's alright. These are young pokemon after all, right?" She said after removing the oran berry from her mouth. After introductions Syndra gave a slight bow of courtesy as she gave her own introduction. "My name is Syndra and I'm also new to this whole pokemon thing. I'm just trying to get to Petalburg for the festival first before I begin worrying about that."
"Yeah, got my first yesterday evening, she's proven to be a trip as you can see." He decides to take a seat next to the girl in an attempt to kill some time, "The whole trainer experience has been pretty interesting so far though, I've met a number of different people each with their own goal it's interesting watching how other people go through life... In my opinion at least." He looks through the forest brush and up at the clouds, "Mind if I ask what your goal is on this journey?"
The two also had similar goals, or destinations rather that being the festival in Petalburg, the one he'd told Basil about not too long ago. "Well if it's of any help Oldale town is right over the next hill. I'm traveling with an acquaintance in hopes of catching the festival too honestly. He had to do some shopping so I thought i'd find some berries in the meantime, instead I found you." He can feel the Larvesta nibbling atop his head far too focused on the berry to give anyone else the time of day. He's a bit thrown off by her formal introduction, deciding in the end to just go with it. "I go by Miles, nice to meet you." He doesn't realize he's introduced himself twice still thrown off by her formality.

[attr=class, lutxt] Now this was strange. The red haired male took a seat by her to which she tilted her head slightly in confusion but followed suit and sat down daintily next to him. There was nothing wrong with a break since she had been walking and standing around since this morning. "I picked up my pokemon this afternoon and so far he's been pretty down to earth. Resting now though," but keeping in mind that it hasn't even been a full day with the grass type she didn't say much more and moved on with the next subject. Full of surprises he decided to go deep with the questions and while usually Syndra did not mind answering anything, her mind reeled back on the true reason she decided to go on this journey - to not burden her family. Instead of saying such a thing with her cheerful smile on she decided to fix it up a bit. "Oh just to travel and see the sights. Why not, right?"
After getting the directions to oldale she nodded despite already knowing the direction of the town. It just took time to get there, especially with all the distractions and people stopping her that caused her not to arrive yet. She was about to comment on the festival when Miles said something that struck her, causing her to laugh. "Haha! That sounded like a terrible pick up line," she said in between breathing and laughing. She wasn't dying of laughter or anything but it was a good laugh to take her mind off of the past. "Yes, I remember. You just told me your name a moment ago."
He raises his arms in defense, "What?" He's laughing himself a little, going back on his words, "Well damn, I guess it's a talent then, Gotta ask though did it work?" In truth it was an accident entirely, but he hopes to play it off regardless. That plan however is quickly blown out the water when she calls him out on introducing himself twice. You caught me, I'm more than a little absentminded as you can see." Larvesta now finished with her berry makes an assortment of sounds wondering whats got her trainer acting so strangely.
"Anyways, your goal is just to travel then, see the world? I pegged you for someone whose trying to become the champ, you know prove yourself and get powerful, something like that. But I guess I misjudged you my bad." He leans back as the bug pokemon climbs down to his lap now, "Then again I'm not really trying to become the champion either, I just wanna see the world you know? See something no ones ever seen before... If that makes sense." He hopes to move on from his more than awkward showing a moment ago, but doubts it'll be let go so quickly.

[attr=class, lutxt] Syndra kept laughing at the little incident though the intensity of it lessened. "You'll have to try harder than that Miles," she answered as her laughing was coming to an end. Perhaps the guy was tired or just was naturally awkward. Either way didn't bother the girl. The fact that he also misjudged her as the type to try to get strong and prove herself in this journey said a bit about the guy's personality and the people he had met, but Syndra wasn't especially trying hard to get that far. Or really even thought about that. That said she didn't like losing so getting stronger might have unconsciously been a goal of hers. Being sure no one could beat her though realistically at this point that wasn't too likely. As she looked up into the foliage overhead with bits of sky behind them the male talked about his own goals. It was incredibly fleeting and Syndra couldn't really say much about it but she understood. "Journeys are good for that I hear. You're also traveling with someone else right? I'm sure it will be fun for you and that you'll find something."
"I'd hope so." he says aloud, 'Even if it isn't external.' he decides to keep the second part to himself. He meditates on the question of his journey for the umpteenth time, it's something has come up far more often than it normally does since he's gotten a pokemon partly because he continues to bring it up with a number of stranger comparing his answer to those he meets, in hopes of finding more answers of his own.
"And here I was thinking you'd fall head over heels for me, after that." He can't help but chuckle along with her, "I guess I missed my chance this time around, I'll be sure to have a better pick up line waiting for you next time I get the chance, I'm sure that one'll have you drooling over me." the sarcasm is palpable as he rolls his eyes, before the topic changes once again.
"Yeah I met the guy earlier this morning." He reflects on his dark skinned traveling partner before continuing on. "He's really nervous goody two shoes type of guy, but he's not bad. I'm sure he'll open up sooner or later, but I honestly just pick fun on him, right now. His first pokemon is this giant scary Gligar, that's exactly the opposite of him in terms of personality." The talk about his traveling partner continues as the time passes, only now does he realize how much time he spent analyzing the other man in their travels, in an attempt to break away he asks about the girl "What about you? Do you have some kind of traveling partner as you explore the region with no goal in particular?"
[attr=class, lutxt] Syndra shook her head as the red haired male sarcastically told her that he'd have a better pick up line next time, not really believing this in the slightest. Besides, who knows when they would meet again after this if ever? She kept that to herself and took another bite out of her oran berry. Miles continued talking and the girl listened as gaze wandered around her. After taking in the scenery around her, she looked back to her company.
Listening to Miles talk about his traveling partner was fun. It was almost like she had known the guy just by his description of him. Of course this was not the case but knowing someone started off their journey with a gligar was good to know. Everyone seemed to start off with some interesting pokemon and it was almost a shame that she ended up with something so normal as her first. Admittedly probably grabbing the first pokemon she saw was probably not the best choice she could have made as a trainer but she didn't regret it. Turtwig matched her personality well enough in that they both took things at their own pace. "Just my pokemon but I'm not worried. I know how to take care of myself and traveling alone let's me travel at my own pace."
She thought over that a traveling partner wouldn't be a bad idea for company if she got along with them but there was no one like that so far. The only people she encountered just wanted to fight her. "Besides the only one besides you that I've met are just people that only want to battle. I understand training but picking on newbies? Not fun."
Just as she offered berries earlier it was his turn to offer something, I mean if you're looking for a traveling partner I wouldn't mind having you, I'm pretty sure Basil wouldn't mind much either if you interested." He offers offhandedly he wouldn't mind having the girl along for a trip or two after all she was... interesting to say the least. "Then again I understand the want to travel alone as well, it's just something to think about in case you are interested in traveling with a stud like myself." Sarcasm drips from his words once more as the conversation moves on.
"Tell me about it." A long sigh, in oldale a number of trainers tried to force both he and Basil into a number of battles, none of them seemed fun in the slightest. "I figure once we get past Petalburg the whole pick on newbies thing'll die down, Once you're in Petalburg woods you tend to have a little more under your belt, and it's too much of a hassle to try and pick on you after that, typically at least."
"Speaking of starters though what's yours, you've already seen Sola here." He observes the pokemon who'd long since fallen asleep on his trainers lap. He hasn't noticed the pokemon in the slightest since the two started talking, and he feels a little bad for his starter pokemon. "Or is that classified information?"
[attr=class, lutxt] He joked about himself still and Syndra shook her head at it though smiling all the while. "You wish. And as fun as it sounds traveling with a pair of guys, I'll pass. As I said I travel at my own pace but I appreciate the offer," she answered as she waved her hand in front of her face as if to signal 'dont mind me'. In retrospect It might have been convenient to travel with another bunch of newbies but that wasn't her style. That was likely the largest contributing factor. "I'm sure we'll encounter each other in our travels and I might tag along then," she added onto her answer and that part was likely going to happen if she ran into him again. He didn't seem like a bad person to hang out with all in all.
Upon the questioning of her own starter she reached back to her bag and pulled out a pokeball. "A Turtwig. Taking a nap as I mentioned before since he's been fighting regularly since we left on our journey." Lobbing her pokeball forward, the bright blink of light erupted and a resting Turtwig laid there silently looking pretty peaceful. "Trust me if it was supposed to be classified I've been doing a bad job at it."
"Suit yourself, miss out on all the manly talk about:girls, and fixing cars, and sports. And everything else people think guys talk about. Your loss." he grins placing his hands behind his head, enjoying the passing breeze. "If there's two things people love about Hoenn, it's the stars, and the weather." The comment comes straight out of left field but he doesn't care.
The girl calls out her Turtwig who seems to be resting just as peacefully as the Larvesta, he can't be mad at the two it was a wonderful day for a nap after all. "Anyways I'm sure we'll meet at the festival anyways that is if you can make it on time." He smirks egging her on ever so slightly, It'll be nice to see a familiar face you know? As they talk Larvesta wakes looking a bit more determined than before. he doesn't quite notice the pokemon's awake but there's a look in her eyes that typically means trouble for him.
[attr=class, lutxt] The comment out of nowhere was odd but Syndra accepted it to an extent. "I get the stars but the weather? I've heard nasty things like there's always rain. Then there's all this water around! The humidity!" Syndra exclaimed with a hint of sarcasm as she made these exaggerated hand motions as she explained. It sort of looked like a guy who was explaining aliens but that wasn't important. It was true though that the girl believed that the region had too much water but it wasn't like she could have started in whatever region she wanted or afforded to really. "Anyway don't worry about me. I'll make that festival one way or another even if I have to abandon sleep. You should be more worried about yourself and your traveling buddy making it." A jab back but true. Even if they had made it to oldale first, the guy was wasting time going backwards on route 101 so it was worth saying.
Afterwards she brushed some strands of hair out of her face from the breeze as her eyes went to her sleeping pokemon who did not seem to notice it even left its own pokeball. The movement of the bug type caught the attention of the green haired trainer but she tried to pay it no mind. "The festival starts in a few days too. Beach stuff is always fun in the summer."
