[attr=class, lutxt] Route 102. After her adventures on route 101, Syndra had hoped walking about on the path to Petalburg would be less strenuous than the last one had. Once she got to the beaches and such the girl was confident that she'd get her energy back. With the festival going on in the area it made sense to stay there for a bit and train her pokemon. The pokemon center was supposedly accommodating to absurd amounts so she planned to stay there during her time. That said she had to get there first. Sighing as she looked ahead, she walked down the path that supposedly led to Petalburg. Once there she could relax all she wanted. The thought at the least was what fueled her to continue.
if the girl looked up, she would see a small figure flying above her in the sky. a swablu was circling around the area in search of something. she knew she probably should not have taken off like that but she had wanted to catch this other pokemon she saw. and now she could not find her trainer anywhere. its beady eyes looked down and noticed a figure moving down the path below. with a small song in greeting, the bird pokemon slowly swooped down and tried to lightly land on the human's head. maybe the girl could help it. flapping its wings lightly against her head, it started to talk about what was wrong...too bad it was in poke speech so it came out more like a song than anything.
meanwhile nearby evan sighed as he traveled down the path. his pokemon had taken off a few minutes ago and he wasn't sure where the flying type had gone. "hey!" he called out and was only met with the sounds of nature. "snow you here?!" he listened to hear the familiar song that the bird pokemon liked to do but heard nothing. "well fuck."
[attr=class, lutxt] While Syndra was usually attuned to her surroundings since she had a keen interest in scenery, her attention was not focused up of all things. So when the sensation of something landing on her head was felt she immediately stopped and reflexively reached up to get it away. That was when she realized that whatever was on her head was almost weightless and her hand brushed against the fluffy puffs that were a Swablu's wings. "What the-" the trainer murmured as her gaze moved up to her head without actually moving. Immediately the girl was met with the sound of a chirping songbird in her ear, or at least what it sounded like. There must have been something up with this pokemon to have landed on top of her head without any caution and cry out like that. Figuring this but unsure of what to do, she waved her hand over her head. "Woah, calm down little guy. I don't understand."
That much should have been obvious but stating it didn't hurt. Deciding this was something that another pokemon should handle, the green haired girl reached into her bag and lobbed a pokeball to reveal Turtwig from within it. The grass turtle looked up to his trainer and did not seem fazed by the strange look she had due to the puffy cloud on her head. Instead it said its name once, supposedly saying hello to the part dragon type pokemon.
the swablu heard from her trainer many times that she couldn't just fly up and land on stranger's heads. she had done it a lot when they had went into town and he had to apologize for her behavior. she didn't see the problem. it was her way of saying hello. but this time she did something from the human and it was an emergency. the swablu stared at the red light that appeared and took the form of another pokemon. it called up to her and she immediately flew down and landed on its shell, making herself comfortable and greeting back. the flying type then started to chirp and tell the story of how she lost her trainer.
evan didn't know where the hell he was. somehow he had managed to get off the path in search for his pokemon but ended up getting lost himself. almost giving up hope and heading back the way he came, he heard a familiar sound coming from nearby. "holy shit this better be you...." he made his way through the bushes, getting poked by sticks and branches, he eventually popped back somewhere on the path. there he saw the cause of all his worries and sighed in relief. "there you are..." he began to come up and paused when he noticed his pokemon's companions. "hey sorry if she was bothering you. i lost track of her a few minutes ago and couldn't find her anywhere."
[attr=class, lutxt] As the fluffy mass moved away from her head and landed on Turtwig's back the girl could look over the new pokemon more carefully. There was no way this pokemon was a wild one. It was a shame since it was rather cute. Turtwig on the other hand listened to the plight motionlessly up until the bushes began to rustle. He did not rush to defend his trainer or the lost pokemon but turned slowly to the direction of the movement. Syndra herself turned her head to see what else was coming yet did not look worried in the slightest, merely curious. At the appearance of the red haired man the female trainer linked the story together almost immediately. "So you're the trainer for this little one," she commented as she motioned to the swablu who she expected to fly back to the arms of its trainer. That was the second time that a trainer she met had lost their pokemon, granted the first time she encountered this was a tad different.
"No bother. Your pokemon is pretty cute," she stated truthfully. There was an urge to pet it or at least touch its cotton balls for wings but restrained herself from doing so. She made a motion towards the two pokemon as if signaling it was fine to approach and get his pokemon if he wished. "I ran into another trainer in the previous route that had lost their poochyena for awhile so maybe it's normal for new pokemon to get lost from their trainers, huh?"
swablu flapped its cloud -like wings in surprise once it heard the noise coming from the bushes. she sung in happiness when her trainer appeared and started to fly over towards him. evan held out his arm and the bird landed on it, rubbing her face against his in greeting. "yeah that's me. thanks for finding her." he rubbed the flying type under her beak and looked up towards the other female.
at the mention of cute, swablu called out her name and flew back over to the female, landing softly back on her head. evan groaned and decided to leave her be for now if the girl had no problem with it. at the mention of a poochyena, evan paused and listened, almost rolling his eyes at the story.
of course noah had managed to lose his poochyena. he was surprised he didn't just leave it out in the wild and actually looked for it. then again, he would have punched the shit out of him and made him go back out to look for it if he came back empty-handed. "uh...yeah..." evan rubbed the back of his neck and looked towards the sky in the hopes that noah would somehow know what he was thinking about him right now. "that sounds a lot like my friend. tall guy, dark hair, kind of looks mean, and he's a little rude?" he gave a brief description of noah that he could think of on the spot. "did he say anything to you? i'm sorry if he did." might as well get the apology out of the way too in the chance he was rude.
At the very least the pokemon seemed happier and less restless. Turtwig gave a small cry of his name as if to say that he's glad that the pokemon made it back to its trainer. Surprisingly the fluff ball flew back onto Syndra head and perched there. Making note of the groan from the other trainer, she could only chuckle as she pieced together that this was not a rare occurrence to have the swablu landing on the heads of others. "It was more like your swablu came to us really. Glad you found each other again," the girl stated with a smile. When relaying about the story of the other trainer that had lost his pokemon there was a hint of surprise when the red head admitted to being friends with the guy. Describing the man rather well, she nodded in affirmation that this was indeed the one she was talking about previously.
"Friend huh?" she questioned whimsically as for some reason she didn't not fully believe that statement. She'd go with it though as she had no reason to question or care about such a thing as of now. What exactly were the chances of two friends both having been separated from their pokemon, both running into the same person on different routes around the same time frame? "Small world, I guess?" Then immediately the male began to ask and apologize for the other male on their behalf to which only a sweat drop could form from the embarrassment for Noah rather than herself. The man wasn't entirely that bad considering that Syndra had used him to get to town without getting jumped for battles again. He was also nicer after she offered to help find and hold his cute poochyena. "No, no. Nothing happened aside from us searching for his poochyena and talking about where we come from," she said waving her hands in front of her to signal that nothing happened for him to apologize for. Okay maybe there might have been a few but nothing that Syndra didn't already brush off casually. "If you're friends, does that mean you started in Johto too?"
it was nice to know that the girl had no trouble with the way his swablu was behaving. when they had been in town not too long ago, he had received some complaints from some of her victims about how 'he should keep her in her pokeball' or 'get her under control'." he had a habit of keeping some of his pokemon out of their pokeballs. it happened when he first received nova. the small cyndaquil had stayed out of her pokeball for the majority of their time together. even when he had been living with noah, he always took out most of his pokemon so they could hang out the apartment much to noah's frustration. he still remembered the broken couch incident. either way, he liked the company of his pokemon and keeping them in pokeballs all the time was never a thing for him.
despite what many people believed, the swablu was well behaved. she never drifted too far from him...until now and only landed on people's heads as a greeting. sure there was some work that could be done but she did listen to his commands and did not needlessly cause trouble all that much. considering she was a newer pokemon and was still learning the ways of the world, he had gotten rather lucky with getting her.
snow moved slightly on the girl's head but was otherwise content with just sitting there. the human had no problems with her sitting there so she had no real reason to move. evan watched his pokemon with mild amusement before turning his attention back to the conversation at hand. "yeah too small in fact." it was strange to think they had met so many people around the same time on different occasions. they were all apparently going in the same direction it seemed. at the mention of johto, evan perked up and almost laughed at the thought of noah sharing his story with a complete stranger. maybe coming to the region was a good start.
"yeah we're both originally from johto, olivine city to be exact. we grew up there together, got our first pokemon, and then left to travel. it's been quite the journey." that was an understatement but he didn't want to bore her with the details. "are you originally from here?" maybe she met miles at some point.
For one reason or another Syndra could almost feel what she thought were 'gay thoughts' and it puzzled the green haired girl momentarily until she brushed it off as her imagination. The male seemed lost in thought for a moment though so she remained silent and content with just messing with the Swablu, testing the waters with a few pokes to the puffy wings it had. There was a nod in between to signal her agreeing with the world being too small and smiled at how the bird was remaining still on her head. "Olivine City huh? That's far. You two must have journeyed for a long time," Syndra commented with an impressed tone. Hearing about other regions interested the girl as she didn't expect to visit them anytime soon. They were like mysterious faraway lands to her. Her origins seemed to have become a common question which Syndra was becoming more comfortable mentioning if only due to the frequency. "No, hoenn was just more convenient. I'm from a place where pokemon aren't all that plentiful so living with pokemon is a new experience."
Turtwig, grass-type (overgrow) you say that now...
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","nv4"]SWABLU, FLYING (NATURAL CURE) MOVE -- SET -- HERE NO BATTLES
[attr="class","nv3"] HEY THEY WEREN'T GAY OKAY!
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]the swablu could feel the pokes on its wings and flapped them each time the girl poked at them. she had no problem with the touch, liking it really since she was getting attention. the female seemed to like her so she would stay for however long she could.
"yeah we're pretty far from home." evan commented at the girl's questions. hoenn had not been the first stop on the journey and it had been a long time since he had went back home. he kept in touch with his parents and usually he had to deal with his mother crying and telling him to come back home to visit.
he listened as the girl explained that she was not from hoenn but a region where they did not have a lot of pokemon. the last region he had went to flashed through his mind. "they can be a hassle but they're worth it." evan nodded up towards the swablu still currently on her head. "we just kind of ended up here. hoenn isn't too bad. i didn't expect there to be so much water." he wasn't joking when he said hoenn had a lot of water for a region to have.
it came to his attention that he had yet to introduce himself. "by the way i'm evan. that's snow currently using your head as her pillow."
Syndra was surprised that Evan did not show the same interest or anything that Noah had in her home with less pokemon but did not say anything about it thus letting the topic pass by. Nodding to the red head's words she could only imagine what it was like traveling that far from home. Sure she was away from home too but she in retrospect was not that far from home which was only a stone throw away... sort of. That was not important though. What was important was the swablu on her head. Every time the fluffy bird moved from her touch Syndra giggled in amusement with how cute it was. Turtwig did not seem to mind the attention his trainer was giving the new pokemon and seemed lackadaisical about it in general. He was not jealous, far from it as he was happy his trainer was enjoying herself.
Now admittedly Hoenn as a region has a lot of water. Too much water really with all the oceans and such that surrounded the place. "I agree with that. I looked at the map and half of the region is essentially water," normally this would sound like a complaint but Syndra's tone made it sound like an offhanded fact to point out. Syndra didn't even realize that the two had not introduced each other yet until Evan had said his name. The girl perked up and gave a small wave. "I wouldn't mind using her as a pillow either but that would probably crush her or at least fairly uncomfortable," Syndra admitted unnecessarily yet half jokingly. Maybe in the future as an Altaria. "I'm Syndra. Nice to meet you. So where is your friend anyway?"
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
the swablu continued to flap her wings at the touches she was getting from the girl. when she heard her giggle each time she did, the bird pokemon could not help but chant a small song in happiness. the swablu thrived on attention and it was getting just that. evan watched in mild amusement at the two and noted they seemed to be enjoying themselves. his eyes glanced down towards the turtwig and stepped forward, crouching down so he could reach out to pet it. he hesitated for a second knowing that some pokemon did not like complete strangers getting so close but this one looked friendly enough. still he waited to see if the turtwig would accept his greeting.
evan laughed at how the half of the map of hoenn was just water and couldn't help but agree. he had seen more blue on the map than green. he listened as the girl joked about using swablu as a pillow and shrugged. he can't say he never thought about it. the pokemon's wings did look like clouds. but she was still small and would probably be crushed under all the weight. "probably. it might teach not to sit on people's heads all the time." he gave his pokemon a look and only got a ruffle of feathers in reply. figures.
"but it's nice to meet you syndra and you little guy." he nodded in response and soon looked up at the mention of his friend. "well i wanted to go and look around odale for a bit but then she flew away after seeing something. last i checked he was somewhere in town." speaking of, he should probably text noah and tell him that he's somewhere in the route. "are you headed to petalburg?"
Turtwig noticed the male approaching him and remained still to stare at the man. Syndra watched as Evan made the motion to pet her pokemon but stopped. The grass type was simply still staring and the girl smiled, "He won't mind if you touch him. He knows you mean no harm." Both of them were aware that Turtwig wasn't the most cuddliest of pokemon though Syndra didn't seem to mind it considering his tame personality. The swablu on her head was also enjoying itself so the girl was happy one way or another. It didn't react much from the jab that Evan gave to which Syndra chuckled. She was lucky to have a pokemon that didn't cause much trouble if at all.
Upon hearing the information on Noah she nodded, "so the angry one is still in Oldale hm?" The jab was a joke though said seriously enough. Thinking back the girl realized that traveling in pairs seemed to be the new trend. Unless she was wrong and the two friends were not traveling together in the slightest. That did not need to be asked so instead Syndra answered the question posed to her. "I am. Everyone I've met so far are headed that way... except for the muscle heads that only want to battle on route 101, so I assume it's the same for you. Headed to petalburg and everything right?" She couldn't remember if Noah actually said anything about going to Petalburg or not but she assumed that he was and if she was wrong that Evan would mention it.

evan listened to what syndra said about her pokemon and decided to go ahead and pet it. his hand reached out and rubbed the small turtle pokemon's head affectionately before pulling away, still not sure if the pokemon would want him to continue petting it. most pokemon were not affectionate like all his first pokemon were. but he did stay crouched down near the turtwig since his own pokemon was busy having fun on syndra's head.
he smirked at light jab at noah. he was definitely the angry one. "i'll probably meet up with him later. he might be brooding right now because he lost his pokemon again." he interjected when she became silent. no doubt later he would go and tease the man for managing to lose his poochyena for the millionth time in the last week. syndra began to explain how all the trainers she had met were heading towards petalburg and couldn't help but agree. it was almost like they were all heading in the same direction for some reason. then again, he did hear a small snippet of conversation about how there might be a festival soon. "muscele heads huh? hopefully i won't run into any of them. i kind of just want to get there already." he rubbed the back of his neck and finally raised to stand. he gestured over to snow who reluctantly flew off the girl's head and back to evan. "i think we took up most of your time for the day. you probably just want to get there already. be careful on the way there."
Turtwig remained stationary and as the man petted him the pokemon closed his eyes. It felt comforting and while his trainer had petted him a few times as well this was essentially a stranger to him. The pull away made the Turtwig open his eyes again and stare back at Evan, but gave it a brief thanks with the call of its own name to which Syndra gave a soft smile. It was nice to see her turtwig getting along with the other trainers she met. Usually it would just not interfere much at all. The red head returned to standing position soon enough and spoke about how Noah was likely brooding which earned a snicker from the girl. "Of course he'd be brooding. When he gets in a good mood tell him I said hi," she would say as she watched the swablu take off from its perch on her head. There was a slight pout but it faded within a second of its appearance. It meant that it was about time to part ways and Evan only confirmed it with his words. Ordinarily she would be in no rush but she actually was so she nodded. "Yeah I suppose we should get going," her turtwig nodded in agreement when her attention moved to the grass type to make sure they were both on the same page. "It was nice meeting you and I hope we meet again. Be safe traveling!" With that Syndra would wave and wander off with her turtwig by her side. There was little doubt in her mind that they would meet again.
