So, this was the start of his journey, huh? The beginning of it all. Honestly, he was a bit nervous. Okay, maybe a bit was an understatement. He was very nervous. Did he really make the right decision to become a trainer? He did want to carry the tradition of being a trainer, but he also wanted to be a coordinator. But in the end, he chose the path of a trainer. And besides, maybe he could still compete in contests? Either way, he looked forward to his journey as a Pokemon trainer.
For the past twenty minutes or so, the teenager had been pacing around the town of Littleroot, staring at a pokeball which contained his starter. A Riolu. He wanted to give him a name, but what? He liked the names Willoughby and Juno, but none of the names he thought of seemed to click. And he didn't want the little guy to go without a name. Just didn't seem right. Eventually his legs grew tired and he leaned again a building, only to slide down the wall that was supporting him.
Littleroot town was just a stone throw away from Petalburg now from how Syndra saw it. After having traveled all the way from the town to the city within one day, going backwards took much less time and a cinch to do. Why would the female trainer rush back to Littleroot town though? Part of her felt bad for rushing out to the festival in Petalburg and not enjoying what the little town had to offer so she walked back. Plus seeing the professor again wasn't such a bad idea since she had rushed in and out of the lab on her first visit.
So she was back if only for a good part of the day. Most of her mindless wandering allowed her to appreciate how small and quaint the town was. It was peaceful and that alone had placed a cheerful smile on her face. It didn't take long for her to spot something out of place though as her eyes locked onto the male leaning against a building. He did not seem happy and was only confirmed in her eyes when he had slid down to a sitting position. The look didn't sit right with her so Syndra impulsively walked over and plopped down next to him without warning. "Hi," she would begin. There would be no pause to wait for a response to that however, "what's with the sad face?"
The teenager was rather startled by the sudden presence, receiving no warning that the young woman would sit next to him. "Why the sad face?" She would ask before he even got a chance to react. Did he really have a sad look on his face? In response, the young man shrugged and said, "Eh, just trying to think of a name for my starter." He was leaning more towards Juno now that he thought about it. It did sound really cool.
"Oh, my name is Emile." He said not too long after his last sentence. It would be wrong for him to not introduce himself, would it not? That's what he was taught at least. The new trainer then waited for a name or some sort of response from the girl. She seemed pretty nice. Well, that's what Emile thought. Otherwise she wouldn't approach him and ask why he looked sad, right? Even if she did give him a bit of a scare, it wouldn't hurt to try to initiate a conversation with him.

A name for the starter? "Ohhh," the girl would say in mild understanding. Most trainers did name their pokemon but the female wasn't exactly creative enough to consistently come up with good names for her own pokemon. Besides what if her pokemon didn't like what she named them? This wasn't about her though and her company would introduce himself to which she would smile to. "My name is Syndra. Nice to meet you," her tone was upbeat or at least more upbeat than she her voice usually was. She figured that Emile was a new trainer by his current problem which made sense, they were in Littleroot. That said she expected most new trainers to run off into the route immediately after getting their starter which is what she had done. "If it makes you feel better, I didn't name my pokemon," she started saying then following up the statement quickly "but there is nothing wrong with naming them." Getting into a more comfortable sitting position by swinging her legs to the side of herself while leaning against the wall, she decided to attempt to help. "What names do you have in mind?"
"So far I've got the names Juno and Willoughby in mind." He replied to the trainer's question. The boy shifted uncomfortably as he occasionally glanced at the pokeball which contained the Riolu. He was itching to go and explore Route 101, but the individual didn't want to do leave the town until he was sure he had a nickname for the Fighting-Type.
Emile found it to be a bit odd that Syndra didn't nickname her Pokemon. He thought everyone gave their Pokemon names. At least everyone else he knew did. His father did, his mother did, and his friends back in Unova. Maybe things were just different in Hoenn? Well obviously. It is a completely different region after all.
He wondered what the rest of the region was like. Sure, he saw a little bit of the region, but he was eager to explore the entirety of Hoenn. "Hey, uh, how long have you been in Hoenn?" The trainer suddenly asked Syndra. If she's been here longer than him, she'd probably know more about the region that he did.

"Juno as in the Roman Goddess?" Syndra found herself asking at the first instance of hearing the name. She was well researched in most things so it wasn't surprising that was the first thing that came to her mind. It wasn't a bad name though she didn't know what type of pokemon he was naming in the slightest. As for the second name Emile thought of nothing came to mind as to what that meant if anything. "Both names don't sound bad. I'm sure your pokemon will be happy with whatever you choose for it."
Now maybe how foreign she is was too obvious as the green haired girl laughed to herself when asked how long she had been in hoenn. She took it as him knowing she was not from the region and not the opposite. There was no reason for her to think otherwise as of the moment. "A few days. I think five at most? I lost count," she admitted bashfully with her trademark smile. "Oh, but I did make it to Petalburg in that time so that counts for something right?"

The boy nodded in response before speaking. "Yup, after the Roman goddess." To be honest he didn't know anything about mythology, he just thought the name was cool. Little did he know the name was usually for girls. His Riolu, however, did not fall into that category. Oh well.
"Oh, that's cool. Is Hoenn nice from what you've seen so far?" Emile would then ask Syndra. If she's only been here for about five days he doubted he'd hear about much of Hoenn from her. Maybe a few things, sure. But it seemed like it'd be pretty difficult to see a whole lot of the region in under a week.
"Hmmm," Syndra would hum in thought, placing her hand to her chin as a slight exaggeration to show that she was thinking. It had only been five days but those five days had been rather eventful. Mostly due to her rushing to get to Petalburg but no one needed to know that. The people were alright though most were from other regions as well so she didn't wanna incorporate that into her judgment. Instead she would focus on what interested her in Hoenn. What really caught her attention was the sights that she saw and with a smile she knew the way she would answer. "So far? The scenery is nice and the environment is comforting. It's understandable why pokemon flock and thrive in this region from what I've seen."
She'd nod to show that she agreed with this sentiment. Afterwards she would looked to Emile and make small talk in hopes that he wouldn't look so down. Thinking of a fitting name wouldn't come to the saddened, or that's what she thought. "So where are you from? If you're asking about the region, you must not be a native."

The trainer began to smile upon hearing the other trainer's words. He definitely liked what he was hearing. The young man began to look around to take in the scenery. He hadn't even been here that long and he already found the scenery breathtaking. Emile definitely looked forward to seeing the rest of what the region had to offer.
After observing the beautiful nature, he was then asked a question. "So where are you from? If you're asking about the region, you must not be a native." Emile's smile grew upon hearing the question. "I'm from Unova. Nimbasa City to be exact." He replied. He loved questions like this, since they usually resulted in a story for him. Telling stories and hearing them always did help cheer him up.
"Nimbasa..." the female repeated the word as if to jog her memory of it. The knowledge of what she read on the city came quickly enough. It was a city filled with fun and entertainment in Unova. "That's pretty far," she commented sweetly to cover up whatever jealousy she actually had for the male. She couldn't imagine what it would have been like living in a big city where entertainment could be found literally on every corner. In fact it puzzled her why Emile would have chosen to start in Hoenn rather than stay in such an awesome city to start. "So why are you all the way out in Hoenn if Unova is your home region? If you don't mind me asking, Nimbasa City seems like too great of a city to leave for more humble roots like these."
