"perhaps not strong enough..." cass whispers under her breath. their relationship was very strange at the moment. it stood between the line of friend and not-friend. ex and not ex.
uncertainty is one of the worse feelings in the world. it's living in a constant state of unrest and confusion, wondering. thinking. cass purses her lips. she still can't trust him. she can't really tell whether he's serious about the whole friend business.
"yeah, you're staying in the friendzone. forever." she says. cass is more than willing to see other guys, thank you very much. there's no doubt that rory's seen other girls. she's uncertain about that too. she cares but she doesn't. it's a vicious cycle.
"have some magma business to take of. how about thursday?" she offers. rory can wait a couple days, can't he? magma's a little higher on her priority list than rory. she guesses that she can make time for him. but only when she's not with magma.
rory doesn't believe in the friendzone. he believes that it was made up by 'nice guys' to make them feel better after getting rejected. the thing is, he doesn't get rejected. he doesn't like getting rejected. but technically with cass she was just postponing it. but he also doesn't like to wait.
"forever seems a bit too long." he slid his arm down off the wall and moved so he was standing right outside the bathroom. his body was big enough to cover the entrance.
"thursday?" he asked. no, that was too long as well. he couldn't wait any longer. he stepped into the bathroom and placed his hand on her shoulder, pushing her so she faced him.
"now."
with one swift motion he leaned in and gave her a kiss. no, it wasn't a kiss. it was a full-on makeout. his hands held her still for as long as they could. he couldn't wait anymore.

she pauses as he slides his arm down, watching him in the mirror. he's standing in front of the bathroom door again. rory's too tall. he takes up all the space that the entrance doesn't. it's vaguely threatening, especially along with what he says. she's still skittish from what happened not more than an hour ago.
she puts down the brush, turning to look at him. he steps over. she has to look up at him to meet his stare - he towers over her. rory places a hand on her shoulder, and he turns her to face him. wtf was he doing?
"rory, wha--" before she could say anything else he lunges for a kiss. an aggressive one. she's shocked for a moment. of all the things he would do, she didn't expect this. but she should have. despite what her mind says, she kisses back.
when she's given the chance, she tears herself away from his grasp. cass is panting. she's at a loss of words for a moment before she throws back a hand and slaps him with all the force her disorientated mind could muster.
he needed to know something. he needed to know if she still had feelings for him underneath her tough persona she maintained. and the only way to know was to kiss her. well, he got his answer when she returned the kiss. she could have pulled away but instead she went with it. but the moment only lasted for a few seconds.
he clenched his jaw and braced for her slap. he knew it was coming. the impact made him jump a bit. he wasn't expecting a slap that hard. especially not when she's as disoriented as she is.
"wow," he whispered, catching his breath. he still stood by the door and towered over her, not letting her leave just yet. "i knew it."
that kiss she gave back. he knew it all too well. he recognized it. he loved it. he licked his lips in response and smirked at her.
"what was that, cass? you hesitated. you kissed me back. why?"

she doesn't know how to react to it. cass is at a lost for words, and rory isn't making it any much better. she couldn't just leave either. rory blocks the door with his body again. ugh. remind her to start bring bodyguards or something because this was seriously getting annoying. especially with that smirk.
if that slap hurt as much as it sounded like it did, she was glad. fucking bastard deserves it. it's the second time she's done it in the past week. she can't really be surprised though. maybe rory likes it.
he stands over her again. she could say that was nearly harassment, what he just did. but they were leaders. they were above the law, as long as they stayed on the down low. cass pouts, crossing her arms and looking away.
"you made me do it." she accuses back. cass wasn't going to admit that she enjoys it. or that she kissed back voluntarily. rory was still in the friend zone, despite what he says or does. she wouldn't make the same mistake again.
the slap did hurt. a lot. he stood there rubbing the spot where she slapped. she was strong for someone so tiny. he laughed when he heard her accusation. "sure i did," he retorted.
cass could say all she wanted about it. but he knew she liked it just as much as he did. maybe even more. the way she attacked back was something else. rory loved every bit of it. it left him wanting more.
"please, you still haven't improved a bit," he said. same technique. he knew what to expect. it was still the same old cass. rory has always been the better kisser out of the two. and he'll prove it again if he had to.
"maybe you were just caught off guard? how about you try again," he smirked, leaning in closer to cass again. this time he didn't go in for the kiss, though. but he did expect a slap coming soon.

he stands there, rubbing the spot where the slap connected. serves him right. he knows it would come. he probably expected it right as he made the decision to kiss her. pig.
"hmph. not like i would need to." she says, exasperated. she has better things to worry about rather than her ability to kiss. but rory's right. she could say she's pretty good, but he's better. because of more practice, obviously.
she curls her lip as he leans in again. cass is tempted to slap him again, but she has a feeling rory expects it. maybe he even likes it. so she thrusts a palm to his face, pushing it away from hers. "how about no." she says.
rory's already making moves towards her, and it hasn't even been an hour since their confrontation. man. she checks her phone. the day's about to start. she needs to get to her office soon.
her kissing needed improvement, but she had a point. she didn't need to improve. she's been on little dates that don't end up going anywhere. he would know. he's kept tabs on her. "it's okay you can practice with me," he said.
which only resulted with her pushing his face away with her palm. ouch. he stumbled back and chuckled. so feisty.
"i think it's still at the bar," he replied. he didn't have time to look for her purse. he wasn't even sure if she had one on her. so little attention was paid to what she was carrying when they first met. he walked over to the counter and sat down again, giving her a goodbye wave.
