hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

The event was over and things had settled back in. Petalburg had quieted down considerably adn all the trainers had moved on and the people were back to their homes, cozying up for the fast approaching autumn. Life pace's however, was different for Julius who wanted to get to where he wanted to be as quick as possible. To become an accomplished trainer, he'd need a gym badge. It was a simple enough concept, and while Julius wasn't all that excited his pokemon undoubtedly were.
Their cheer was what allowed Julius a placid, arrogant smile as he walked his way into the gym. The leader was probably overwhelemed with challenges and Julius kind of pitied the man. Oh well- he would make sure that his visit was as short and sweet as possible to save him some of the trouble.
A hood to a half sleeved hipster jacket was comfortably nesting his pikachu, Zwei, as he poked his ears around and eyed the area with the interested of a newborn. Julius looked around more casually, hands wrapped around a fiery red egg that he had received from the gift shop. He had even worn gloves so the egg would be extra warm.
His eyes finally landed on the gym leader, and Julius beamed. "Heya there. Julius Kingston, here for a my first badge." The statement was followed up with a cocky smile and the intensifying of the gleam in his emerald eyes.
norman walks out into the gym. someone has entered. he's excited to see the prospective trainers earn their first badges. they are always either cocky, scared to death, or somewhere in between. sometimes both.
he grins at the person across the stage. "alright, welcome challenger." he throws out a pokeball. sentret rises from it's place, ready for a battle.

The gym leader stepped forward, a tall and stout man with age clearly written over his features. Experienced, obviously, but all too easily held back by the restrictions the gym placed upon him. Julius was confident in his abilities to defeat the gym leader, but he was also confident that the man was a better battler than him. He'd have to use pure strength to his advantage. Or just, you know, Rotom.
His Pikachu sensed the opponent immediately and jumped out of his hoodie, red pouches on either cheek buzzing with electricity. Julius smirked at the leader, having kept his trump card hidden away for the moment. The pikachu was more than ready to get a battle going and shouted taunts at the enemy, too excited for his own good.
"Well, if you say so," Julius nodded at Zwei. The pikachu grinned and winked at the Sentret and then proceeded to blow kisses at the enemy: not only providing comical sort of enetertainment but also practically rendering the attacks of the sentret useless. Despite what Zwei acted like and looked like, on the battlefield Julius was ruthless and so were his pokemon.

this one is pretty cocky. the challengers is already smirking, and so is his pikachu. it flirts with sentret. "senret, don't pay attention to it. use quick attack." she's obviously confused by the display, and nearly doesn't listen to him, but reluctantly goes to attack the pokemon anyways.

The pikachu squealed in pain as the sentret hit him, but surprisingly it wasn't as much as he had braced himself for. Even though the kisses had not confused the sentret to the extent that the duo wanted to confuse it, the quickattack was easily overcome, and Zei waited, eager for the next set of commands. Julius was annoyed that the kisses hadnt worked and that his first move was put to waste.
Ah well, he supposed he'd use strength now.
"Alright Zwei, no more fooling around. Thundershock, let's go." The pikachu nodded happily, leting out a cry of excitement as a zap of sparks and mayhem found their way straight towards the sentret. The little confusion the sentret had with the flirting at least made a little bit of an opening, and Pikachu took the time to make a second attack of the same type yet again, in the hopes that both would go through.
Julius watched, unknowingly clutching his growlithe egg harder than he meant to.

and electric attack takes a toll on sentret. she falls to the ground, static running down her body. norman nearly thinks that she's fainted, but the pokemon gets up anyways. "good job..." norman praises quietly. she glares at the pokemon before running up to the pikachu and scratching at the mouse when it's close.

On the other hand, the sentret's attacks had done little to no damage to Zwei, who got up from the scratch like it was nothing. Julius was disappointed the Sentret hadn't fainted instantly because now he knew that it would be considerably more of a load on Zwei. He wasn't going to be able to take whole gym on with only one pokemon, but he didn't want it to become too troublesome. He wondered idly how strong the next pokemon would be- maybe he should have sent his weakest out first.
Zwei gets up, and Julius realizes that it will have to be how it is. There's not other way to go about it. "Full speed ahead," he says, and Zwei gives an easy nod. The pikachu flashes yellow yet again and a huge bolt it hurled at the sentret for the third time, and then the fourth.
In his hands, the Arcanine egg seemed to grow hotter. Julius ignored it. Zwei would obviously be taken out by the next attack, so he kept his free hand on Cinque's pokeball, waiting, watching with vivid emerald eyes.

Zwei watches the litleo come out of its pokeball, tail still wagging with unparallelled glee. Julius doesn't understadn why or how, but his pikachu seems to be upbeat regardless of how bad things look for him. He has to commend that about his pokemon, he supposes. The raven haired male finds his smile returning to him, hands now clutching the growlithe egg very close to his heart.
The litleo lets out of burst of fire, and although Zwei dances around the first two bullets like it's easy, the fatigue takes its toll and he falls prey to the whole rest of them, and proceeds to faint. But even the unconscious face of the pokemon is smiling. Julius reaches out for a pokeball and throws out Cinque, who, he quickly decides, wil make short work of the litleo.
The Clauncher appears, claw nipping at the air. Julius winces. Clauncher is known for being a bad shot among his pokemon. Perhaps this will work as target practice.
"Bubble, and then watergun!"
Both attacks were easily powerful, but the tactic was that eve if the bubbles missed, the watery drops would provide sufficient cover for the water gun to hit head on. Julius hoped it would work and that his Clauncher would prevail. Two solid hits should knock the litleo out for good.

pikachu is returned, and the challenger sends out a clauncher to combat his litleo. smart choice -- type advantages are everything in this battle. norman watches as litleo dodges the slow froth of bubbles, but it slips on one of the suds and gets hit square in the side by a water gun.
the pokemon shivers and tries to shake out its fur. it's probably not going to last very much longer. norman shakes his head. the life of a gym leader, he supposes. "leer and headbutt."

"Dodge and repeat!"
Julius might be annoyed at the lack of accuracy from the Clauncher, but at this exact moment, going against a gym leader with one of his pokemon already down, its hard to think about something like that. It becomes spurr of the moment, and he realizes its fun watching his abilities tested against one of the supposed best. Sure he still has the advantage of rotom being a ghost, but even then he fins himself lost in the moment.
The Clauncher as well hardly as time to react, and is almost frozen in place by the petrifying leer. And yet it somehow stumbles out of the way, likely due to the fact that the litleo was lowering its head to headbutt and had gone with a rather mad charge instead of looking where it was headed.
After dodging to the right, the Clauncher follows up with the same routine, shouting out his name in a very pokemon-esque fashion.

litleo nearly doges the sloppy water gun, but it runs straight into it instead. it yelps as the water drenches it's coat. the torrent of water leaves it fainted at norman's feet. she returns the pokemon and takes out another, hurling it into the field.
"return, litleo. go slakoth!" he switches in the pokemon. the slakoth looks at norman lazily before yawning. and when it gets close, it draws a claw to scratch the pokemon.

Julius watches the litleo fall and lets out a sigh in relief, glad that at least one more pokemon is down. Clauncher is perfectly unharmed, but his defenses are still wobbly from the deathly leer. The slakoth that appears gives a large yawn and Clauncher mimics it, leaving Julius with nothing to do but curse under his breath.
For such a lazy creature, Slakoth is surprisingly fast and it quickly scratches at Clauncher. The water type falls back, but aims his good arm at the opponent, trying for a water gun without Julius's command. Julius doesn't know what to do and so he is left to nod. At the very least, a water type move will have some bonuses, even if it is not as effective as it would be against a litleo.
The clauncher uses watergun yet again, steadying its arm in an attempt to aim.

norman's stuck, even as he sees clauncher blast off another water gun. slakoth's ability takes effect. it's truant, lazily rolling over. it doesn't attack, but the water gun's barely dodged. he just needs to wait now, because the clauncer seems to be barely awake at the moment.

Julius frowns. Though the slakoth isn't doing anything, a few more seconds in a Clauncher is busting out zzs like a baby. He twitches his mouth in irritation, especially when the watergun is nearly avoided. At the very least the vicegrip should do some damage, and maybe it would be enough for the finisher...
He threw out another pokeball, quickly subbing in Zero instead of Cinque. Zero came out in a flash of light, its signature sparks buzzing out as ferocious as ever. The rotom was happy to finally be in the game, and the strange grin o its face was quick to signify that.
"Alright, let's go. No mercy, Zero!" The rotom buzzed, and exploded into a shower of sparks and electricity as the whole room was targeted using a discharge. It did the same attack twice, and though Julius folded his arsm to protect the egg, he also was smiling at his pokemon's aggression.
The made a strange team but a fine one nontheless.
