It had been some time since Sylvester hit Petalburg City. Sitting on a public bench, there was a small park before him where many coordinators, and even trainers flocked to with their pokemon. Brandishing his sole occupied pokeball in his hand, Sylvester wondered curiously about how much his Eevee had changed when it evolved into a Sylveon.
He didn't realize Marley would evolve so soon, but feeding it several rare candies seemed to do the trick. He almost regretted it, however. To think, that I could have bought a stone and turned it into any of the other evolutions... Although somewhat unsatisfied by the ignorance of his actions, upon analyzing his pokemon Sylvester realized just how much more powerful it had become—a fairy type pokemon. His first and only battle so far was against a dragon type, and knowing that he might see this trainer again during his journey was something that made him smile. Perhaps Sylveon was the best potential choice for his Eevee's evolution after all? Hmm...I wonder."

He was on his way out of town. He needed to go 'away', away from the festival, away from the city away from his former friends away from Syndra just...away. He's still a little pale, but manages to retain his smile, the fake smile that's far more common than any other expression he has in his repertoire. He wants to run, but can bring his legs to move that fast the event prior weighing him down tremendously. His mind keeps replaying the events in the cave his head pounding now, the headbutt earlier having swollen behind his hair. He didn't care enough to ice it at the center far too much in a rush to leave.
He almost unconsciously makes his way into a park his mind replaying everything constantly, he moves past a bench tripping over a bystanders leg all the while only to tumble to the ground. He's far too distracted to be angry, instead he almost blankly apologizes, "Yo uh...sorry man." he sits up off the ground meeting the other man's eyes. "Just a bit distracted you know how it is." He laughs far more dryly than he'd have liked to. "Jeeze i'm such a clutz."

"Uh yeah...no problem dude." This was really quite an odd scenario. Unlike when the other person he had met in Littleroot, who bumped into an elderly man and knocked him over only to insult him for not looking, this individual actually tripped over Sylvester—and apologized for it. "You don't happen to be a pokemon trainer by any chance, do you?"
This inquiry was based on the guy's presentation alone, being youthful and otherwise preoccupied. Sylvester couldn't see any pokeballs on his person, so it was only a rough guess. That being said, there was some hope that he did in fact prove to be another trainer. Otherwise, what else had him so distracted? Perhaps they would tell him soon enough. "Just a curiosity, it doesn't really matter if you are or aren't." But it would prove much more interesting if they had been...

The male seemed friendly enough much to his relief, he begins to dust himself of finally standing again, he doesn't look too much a wreck, physically at least. The black haired man asks if he's a trainer, or something of the sort. "Yeah... Almost everyone around here is right now, you know with the festival going on. A number are trying to move on now that the festivities seem to be wrapping up more or less." the cave explorations were closing down a little earlier than expected for reasons entirely known to him, and the beach festivities seemed to be winding down naturally. He'd noticed a number of trainers move on towards the next route and Petalburg Woods, but here he was moving backwards. Why was that? "No worries I assume you're a trainer too then friend?" He asks to keep the conversation going.
Anything to distract himself at this point really, "Did you get to participate in the festival yourself or anything a lot of people had a good time, really great to connect with people around this time of year." It's not entirely a lie, he can remember parts of this venture that really were exciting and fun.

"Yes, I am a trainer as well." He watched as the red-haired man patted himself off, his mind delving into the matter of the festival that had been taking place for awhile now. "Actually, I did arrive just in time for one of the final tours through the caves nearby. I never knew a pokemon like Bidoof could produce water from nowhere." It was a glimpse of what Sylvester had to deal with during the event, though it was not suffered by far. In fact it was actually a good thing, having another pokemon's data added to his pokedex.
"I didn't get to catch any of the pokemon, though. Not that I really wanted to. Most of them didn't prove very interesting, not to me at least." It may have come off as rude to the other trainer, but Sylvester was inclined to feel that everyone had their favorites and least favorites types of pokemon—those they would, and would not capture. "What's your name, friend?" Perhaps this was another good chance to befriend a fellow trainer, like how he had come to know Syndra Mawdrey through mere coincidence.

He vaguely remembers something about a bidoof in his own trial. A pun or something along those lines, by that point he hadn't been paying attention simply having wanted to finish up as quickly as possible. "Yeah kind of amazing." He continues to humor the man, "It's been more interesting watching pokemon than anything honestly, seeing what they do and how they do it. It's amazes me every time...or almost every time rather."There was one pokemon I wanted to catch, but it happened to get away from me." A shallow laugh accompanies the latter half of statement.
"Oh yeah, name's Miles, man don't think I happened to get yours either." He decides to take a seat on the bench for a moment, lest he looks like he was running away. "So what do you hope to really get out of being a pokemon trainer, why do you journey?" He knows it's a deeper question and delves further in, "Just a question I've asked everyone I"ve come across on my journey so far."

"Yeah, I've been pretty ecstatic to see all of the pokemon Hoenn has to offer." Allowing a subtle nod to be made after receiving his name, Sylvester felt it right he at least give his own in return. "My name is Sylvester. Nice to meet a trainer who isn't a complete douche." Tucking his pokeball into it's place after allowing it to reach a lesser size, he resumed onward with their conversation.
"It's a good question." He shifted, getting more comfortable before delving into his many aspirations as a pokemon trainer. "When I was younger, I just wanted to train my pokemon to be strong enough to take on the eight gym leaders, and perhaps the elite four." Sylvester's eyes, which were straying off in the distance, now rest upon Miles' own. "Though as of recently, I've taken it upon myself to strive for power with a different motive. I'm sure you head of Teams Aqua and Magma?" Allowing very little room for an answer, he proceeded to go on about what had more recently changed with his motivation.
"Now I've tasked myself with trying to take them both down. An impossible feat, some would say." Sylvester smiled now in light of the odds he faced. "But I don't mind what other people say. If I am to ever become a great trainer, then my pokemon will adhere to my goals as if their own, and we will work hard to reach them." His arms crossed over his chest, satisfied with what had been said. It wasn't as if Sylvester expected to take them down all on his own with only his pokemon, but if he could befriend other great trainers along his journey...perhaps the goal wasn't so impossible?

"Well I'm happy to have exceeded your expectations. I don't really have the energy to be...well a dick so to speak. Not right now."
Not wanting to speak on his own woes he changes the topic. The black haired trainer begins to speak of his wanting to destroy what many perceive to be the nuisances that currently plague Hoenn. Those being Team Aqua and Team Magma alike, ecoterrorists for better or for worse one bent on expanding the land the other bent on expanding the sea respectively. Miles has never cared for either of the teams much less their goals, but then again never cared to fight against them either. Most specialized in thievery, (a field he's ever so familiar with.) but haven't caused any major harm as of late, or at least harm he really knows about. An eyebrow raises as the trainer speaks so valiantly for his cause. His goal something of grandeur, but not necessarily uncommon.
"I wouldn't call it impossible, but you have your work cut out for you friend that's for sure." He tilts his head at the man neither approving or disapproving of his goal it wasn't his place to do either. He wasn't exactly trying to become a hero himself A certain business card in his wallet isn't exactly calling him to do 'right' in the world after all. "I guess if I had any questions it'd be why, you're pretty passionate about it did they do something to you?" he's vaguely curious but realizes it's an intrusive question. "If it's a bit too personal don't worry about it, sorry for asking." The conversation is taking his mind off of his problems and that's all he can ask for honestly. As he places his bag down he can feel the egg inside move ever so slightly.

"Actually no, they never did anything to me personally. It's how they treat pokemon that makes me aspire to bring them down." While it probably wasn't the time or place, Sylvester decided to reach back for the same pokeball, releasing his only pokemon onto his lap. "Syl, Syl!" Placing the pokeball back into it's place, Sylvester pet the creature for a time before elaborating further on what he meant exactly.
"If Team Aqua or Magma got their hands on Marley here, they'd use him for their own benefit and cause...and if he didn't succeed in doing so?" His hand, which was stroking along the Sylveon's ears now stopped, plastering his eyes back on the other trainer. "They'd neglect poor Marley, all because he isn't 'good enough' to them. The whole idea of being good to them is subjective, and they would bring nothing but trouble. Just look at the propaganda." Pointing out one of the nearby posters on a structure, there it elaborated how one could join Team Aqua. "They're so obsessed that they are actually trying to drag other trainers into their feud. Unfortunately...some actually think of it as their calling." His hand resumed to stroke along the soft fur of his Sylveon.
"I don't want to live in a world like that, so my only option is to try and change the world. Perhaps my agenda isn't much different...but its worth a try, no?" He gazed up towards Miles, curious as to what his response would be...

The trainer's point is clear even so he calls out one of his own pokemon to demonstrate, the pokemon being what the red haired man believes to be evolved form of Eevee, one he's never seen before. This man fights on behalf of pokemon themselves speaking of both the means behind Team Aqua and Magma alike specifically their tendencies to abandon weak pokemon. Miles' question being 'why just team aqua and magma?'"You're not wrong, friend good and bad are always subjective and in the end for those teams it does boil down to 'usefulness. I on't disagree with you." He pauses for a moment thinking on how to phrase his next thought, "However, there are many others trainers like you and me who do the exact same." He drops a pokeball of his own releasing a green garbage-esque pokemon. "Meet Trubbish, I found him not too far from here actually crying and abandoned, another trainer having stranded the pokemon out there, because he didn't meet the trainers needs I assume. I've met trainers with different styles and beliefs some akin to what you're trying to fight against. He allows the pokemon on his lap petting it. Surprisingly the garbage pokemon lacked scent, then again around trainers or people trubbish were known to like they stopped emitting their noxious odor.
"You're cause is noble Sylvester that much is certain, but just as there's bad in team aqua, and team magma I'm sure there's good in their ranks as well. And just because we're normal trainers doesn't necessarily mean we're on some other pedestal you know? Or at least not in my eyes." He sighs, "But I suppose that neither her nor there."He pets the garbage bag pokemon a final time before returning him to his pokeball. "I have to say though you're the first person I've met with such a reason behind your training. I'm a little impressed to be honest."

"Well then, your pokemon is fortunate to have bumped into someone like you." It was delighting to know that Miles was another goodhearted trainer, someone who spotted both the greatness and misdeeds accomplished by the likes of Teams Aqua, Magma, and even trainers alike. "And I suppose you're right, their uniform doesn't determine whether or not the person is wrong in what they're doing." Watching him seal away the Trubbish, Sylvester too withdrew his Sylveon and placed it's pokeball back into his inner coat pocket. "But my goal isn't to determine who is and isn't wrong. I don't condemn the members themselves, merely their goals to change the world by using pokemon. Do you think their pokemon even know what it is they're fighting for? I doubt it..."
Sylvester's gaze breached past Miles, spectating the many coordinators and trainers working with their pokemon. "Most trainers just want to challenge the Gym Leaders, and the Coordinators want to win contests and the like for how well-trained their pokemon are in certain aspects. There's nothing wrong with either of those motives." His eyes flitted back towards Miles. "But trying to remodel the world because of your obsession with land or water? Think about the natural disasters and other catastrophes that take place, or the pokemon stolen from trainers and forced to furthering their cause. It's just not right." Waiting patiently for a rebuttal if Miles had one, Sylvester settled down and went silent for the moment. He was beginning to get just a little worked up about the subject, as it was in fact something Sylvester felt very passionate about.

This man, Sylvester is definitely passionate about his cause if nothing else that's much is apparent. There's no need to excite the man further and so he begins to move away from the topic. Right and wrong my friend are still subjective." He leans back in the bench eyes focused on the blue skies. "People will always be people, and the world isn't always so black and white." His voice is a bit more far off now it's almost as if he isn't speaking to Sylvester anymore, his eyes far looking significantly beyond his years. Trubbish having fallen asleep on the trainers lap now. "Or at least not in my opinion."
The red haired man pulls himself back to reality giving the other man a calm smile, "But enough about that I wish you the best on your goals Sylvester. I have to say your determination is apparent." He slides his hands into his pockets retrieving the poison pokemon's pokeball returning it. "You said you also wish to beat the gym right? You plan on fighting the gym here than I assume?" He questions finally managing to change the topic entirely.
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jun 28, 2015 3:44:09 GMT
"Yeah, I plan on battling Petalburg City's gym leader for the badge. I've actually got a decent pokemon team assembled already, though I wanted to train with them a bit more before issuing my challenge. I haven't gotten to work a lot with them yet, so I think it's best to wait until we are all more comfortable working together." Allowing their conversation to be steered in a new direction, Sylvester tried to think about it more from Miles' perspective. Right and wrong didn't matter—the futile attempt to correct humanity's misdeeds was an everlasting battle, and discerning right and wrong was only furthering the problem. In fact, it was borderline hypocritical, though Sylvester knew he wasn't causing any other trainers problems. Miles, however, was still very much right with what he said.
"How about you? Have you already beaten the Petalburg gym leader, or are you in the same boat as me?" It was hard to know, since Miles seemed a bit more experienced and mature as a pokemon trainer. For all Sylvester knew about him, he could have already defeated the next several gyms as well. Judging by the pokemon he had showed Sylvester, however, he felt it safe to say Miles wasn't very far off from where he was in terms of progress.

"Oh? You must be strong then." He slides the poison type's pokeball back in his pants pocket. "I'm not nearly strong enough to fight the gym leader." His eyes look far gone thoughts of challenging the leader having occurred to him since he got here. He figured he'd do it at the end of the festival despite feeling he was ready now. His goal current goal being to escape the city, a number of fears weighing too heavy on his head to even think about challenging the leader currently. Speaking of which it was about time for him to continue his escape this distraction as interesting as he was had currently outlived his use for now, and thus it was time to depart. He figured he'd be meeting the darker haired man down the line sometime however, and so the man stands from the bench grabbing his bag sliding it across his back.
"Let's pick up here next time friend, I have a feeling we'll meet again sooner or later in our respective journey's Sylvester, I got a bit carried away and now I'm a little behind." He plays off a nervous laugh to sell his escape. "Maybe next time we can battle and you can show me your resolve, yeah?" Sylvester Blackburne

While Miles presumed Sylvester to be strong, he knew that was certainly not the case. Confident, maybe, but Sylvester certainly wasn't arrogant about his odds. He still needed to train with his pokemon before it came to that point—where he could challenge Petalburg city's gym leader. Until then...
"Yeah, sure thing Miles. I'll make certain to train my pokemon plenty by then, so make sure you do the same." It was less a boast, and more of a reassuring sentiment that Sylvester looked forward to their battle when they met again in the future. He had only battled once so far, but it was a loss—the sole reason he was going to train with his pokemon as much as possible to get them into competitive shape. "Take care of yourself until then. I'll do the same. Later." Grabbing his things and making his farewell, Sylvester headed towards one of the nearby paths leading to a pokemon route to train.
