It was ironic that Sylvester yet again felt like going back to his roots, which was the small town of Littleroot. He sat against a tree as to stay cool under the shade, a smooth gale of wind rolling by and whirling leaves in the air. While he had been waiting quite some time for another trainer, to his disappointment, all that passed by were pokemon.
Leisurely scanning them as they traveled across the steppes of grass and other vegetation, he couldn't help himself from being unaware of the closing figure coming out of Littleroot. Only until they began to reach a distance of a few feet from him did Sylvester turn his attention from his pokedex to the stranger—whom appeared to be a trainer. "Hey there. What brings you around Route 101?" A simple question to kick-start a conversation between them.

"I don't see anyone else around here—so yes, you." Was the boy really that absent-minded, or was he just unsure of himself to the point where socializing with people was so uncommon that he genuinely wasn't sure? "What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"
Noticing the rare pokemon at the boy's side, Sylvester flashed his pokedex and got a read—Absol, the disaster pokemon. Wow, nice. It was an impressive pokemon to have on your side, and it was captivating the way it had the same hair color as the youth. "I'm Sylvester, a pokemon trainer." Elaborating more about himself, he hoped the boy would be more comfortable with giving some information about himself. Perhaps he was a fresh pokemon trainer, and the Absol was his starter pokemon? That would be interesting.

"Yeah? I started my journey as a trainer about a week ago, though I've come pretty far already. Hopefully you'll progress just as swiftly." Gazing over the Absol, Sylvester made a subtle grin as he acknowledged that he and his pokemon were close already. "Speaking of my journey, I want to show you something that I haven't let anyone see as of yet. Hold on just one second..."
At his side was an ebon backpack, Sylvester reaching for it and rummaging through, moving the soft clothes out of the way that surrounded his baby—a bright orange egg with what appeared to be yellow wings. "This is a pokemon egg I got in Petalburg City when they were having a sale during the summer festival. They told me it may take awhile for it to hatch, but I am thinking otherwise." Trying to show the fruits of his labor, Sylvester played with the egg by stroking it to generate heat, looking towards the young trainer and giving him words of encouragement.
"I'm sure you'll find one for sale or in the wild during your ventures. After all, getting my hands on this bad boy only took a week. It shouldn't take you very long, especially with a pokemon like Absol. You're pretty fortunate to have started out with a pokemon like Luna, you know it James?" Allowing silence to overcome himself, Sylvester continued rubbing the egg of his, practically hoping it would unexpectedly hatch right now before the two of the trainers.

"Well, Absol is a very rare pokemon. Your's is the first one I have ever seen, granted I haven't seen many of the rare pokemon in Professor Birch's lab. Only a Gible, my Eevee, Turtwig—and now your Absol." Brandishing the egg for a moment, he gazed at ti's majestic beauty before returning his gaze back towards the boy. "I suppose this egg will also hatch a rare pokemon, but I won't count it until I see it."
Retrieving his pokedex one more, Sylvester gave the Absol another thorough scan, this time evaluating it's potential stages of evolution. "Hmmm. While your Absol doesn't truly evolve, there is a mega stone for Absol. I'd be interested to see what that does, though my pokedex doesn't have any information other than the fact there is one." Pocketing his device once again, Sylvester caressed the egg once more before deciding to put it away in his bag, tucked within the warm confines of his spare clean clothes. "Maybe you don't feel the same, but I think you're fortunate to have Luna as your first pokemon. She even looks like you, so you really just seem to make a great pair." Flashing a gentle smile towards James, he looked out towards the grassy steppes of Route 101 as if something were there.
"Trust me, there will be more events that follow the summer festival. All the merchants will be bringing their stock of pokemon eggs and the like, trying to make a fortune off of all of the trainers. If you're interested I can take you through this route and to Oldale Town, and if you really want I can take you to Petalburg City where the first Pokemon Gym is located." Awaiting the boy's answer, Sylvester sealed his backpack and gathered his things as well as himself before taking a stand.

"Yeah, I can't tell you how glad I am to have this egg. I really do hope you get your own sometime soon. If you do, I hope we get to catch up with each other later down the road, so I can see how your egg is doing." Taking the time to stretch as Sylvester had began to feel a little cramped from sitting and being ran into, he once again popped the question to the youth trainer.
"So, did you want to go to the next town past Route 101? Or did you just want to sit around here for awhile? I suppose it doesn't really matter, though I am starting to grow bored of just sitting here." It may have seemed blatantly rude, but Sylvester was tired of trudging around Route 101 and the like. He was ready to move on as a trainer, yet for some reason he kept coming back. Why that was, Sylvester had yet to find out.

"Good to hear. Let's get going, I'll tell you on the way." Waiting for the boy to get on his feet, Sylvester acknowledged the Absol behaving a bit more cheerfully—it's tail wagging at a considerably higher rate than before. Reaching into his inner coat pocket, Sylvester retrieved his starter pokemon, releasing it before them as they proceeded down Route 101. "Meet Marley, my starter pokemon."
Standing before the two of them by a ways was one of the cutest evolved forms of Eevee, which was actually what he had started with as a gift from Professor Birch. "Marley started out with me on my journey as an Eevee, but I actually managed to help him evolve into a Sylveon by battling and feeding him rare candies." As Sylvester kept moving and now walked past Marley, he greeted James and Luna with a loud "Sylveon!"
Maintaining a leisurely pace through the high grass, Sylvester looked back to make sure they were all following him. It seemed that his Sylveon took an interest in the Absol, walking directly next to it and observing it's alabaster fur. "Marley wasn't the most powerful when I first started working with him, but now I know for certain he's my strongest pokemon." Looking behind him once again to spare a subtle smile, Sylvester noticed the town of Littleroot becoming smaller and smaller.
In a few more moments, a bend in the road would take them to where it was completely out of site. "It shouldn't take us long to get to Oldale Town. We'd be able to get to Petalburg City in one day if we each had bicycles." Finally one could see the area up ahead, which featured a clearing where one could see the town further ahead. "Ah, would you look at that. We're almost there."

"You don't seem very surprised. I know I was when I first came with with someone else. I thought Oldale Town was much farther than this." As they proceeded through the open area, a rattata dashed across the field from right in front of them. Have wishing it would stop and want a battle, Sylvester was hard-pressed to realize it kept scurrying along, minding it's own business. "Though I've got to say, it's a bit longer to get to Petalburg City. If you do decide to go with me, you'll see what I mean."
Without a single thought, Sylvester's feet continued pacing forward, almost as if they could never stay still. Hearing his pokemon cry out, he looked back to see what Marley had been up to. "Huh, what's wrong Marley?" He could now see what was the cause for upset, as Marley was nudging Luna the Absol affectionately to no avail. It seemed James' pokemon wasn't very keen of Sylvester's own, even though they were both mammalians. "Ha, this is a first. I guess Marley is just used to getting all the attention he craves. C'mere, buddy!" Reaching out with his arms, the Sylveon leaped up into them and nuzzled him instead.
"So, what do you plan on doing when we get to Petalburg? Are you going to challenge the gym leader, or will you go out training first?"
Post by Sylvester Blackburne on Jun 29, 2015 20:02:18 GMT
"Sight seeing, huh?" While it wasn't a bad thing, Sylvester supposed it was a little weird for a place James just labeled as dull. Perhaps he meant the town itself, and not the wilderness surrounding it. Either way, they managed to trek past the final clearing, the scattered buildings and structures of Oldale Town now present before them. Now that his job here was just about done, Sylvester felt it was time that they parted ways. At least for now.
"Well, I think I should get going right about now. I need to catch some more pokemon out in the wild if I am to take on the gym leaders some day. I'll be in the area the next couple of days, so if I catch you around, I'll make sure to take you to Petlaburg City." Allowing his Sylveon, Marley, to go back inside his pokeball, Sylvester started down the separate route that would take one towards Petalburg City. Before he could get much further, he stopped and turned around towards the younger trainer.
"Nice meeting you, James. Stay out of trouble." It was a caring sentiment, his last words to James before he would resume his way with a farewell wave, headed out of Oldale Town on his lonesome.
