The fox gave a cute cry upon seeing her attack hit, looking back to her trainer for praise. Being still young and naive the girl indulged the pokemon with a smile, "Good job!" But suddenly the fire type felt something and the handful of energy in her small body was being taken away. It wasn't too painful to the pokemon but she still gave a small whimper, the happy face of the Vulpix replaced by a saddened one. Syndra felt bad for the spoiled fire type but knew she had to learn battling one way or another. "Shake it off Vulpix and keep using ember," Syndra said to reinforce her previous attack command. With how cute the fire type looked it seemed reluctant to attempt but waved her tailed back and forth in an alluring fashion with another inhale. The fire type shot another two embers in succession of each other at Shroomish with more determination to hit it directly. The better the Vulpix did the more praise she seemed to get and that was alright with her.

Watching his pokemon being assaulted by the flames, it appeared that Daisy was much too dazed with trying to sap energy from the Vulpix to listen to his next command. "Daisy, dodge as best you can." Although he spoke, the words apparently did not reach his pokemon, whom had just now been struck by the embers.
Her frantic running did not help, managing to be hit by the next barrage of fire before she could pull herself together. This was even worse than before, Sylvester witnessing what some liked to refer to as 'insult to injury'. Though Syndra did not say anything, he knew that she and her pokemon might as well have been steps ahead of him. "Come back and rest, Daisy." The pokeball beamed her back in, Sylvester reaching for his final pokeball.
Effect Spore - Lv.07 - K.O. Shroomish has fainted!
"Dasher, it's time to battle!" Releasing his pokeball, the youthful Ponyta would make it's way before the two of trainers, trotting in a circle to stretch it's body after being inside the ball for quite some time. Allowing Syndra to select her own pokeball, he had no intention of trying to go first this time. Either way, Sylvester had a good feeling he would lose this battle as well.
As the second battle came to a close, Syndra didn't recall Vulpix like she previously had with Sandshrew. As a younger pokemon the fire type needed some positive reinforcement for battling. So instead when the grass type was withdrawn the green haired girl kneeled down on one knee and opened her arms so that the fox could run and jump into them. Almost as if on instinct the amber colored fox turned around and happily ran into her trainer's grasp. Syndra pet the fox while whispering praise into her small ears as she stood back up to continue to the next battle. The new fire type appearing surprised her and part of her was a bit envious until Vulpix licked her cheek to remind her that she already had an awesome fire type pokemon.
She noticed how young the horse was, slightly older than her own Vulpix if she had to guess, but that only made what she was about to do worse. But as she said she wasn't going to hold back so she took a free hand and unclipped another pokeball from her belt to lob forward. This time a blue spherical pokemon appeared with a cute cooing sound. "Spheal its your turn. Do your best." She was going to start this battle off again it seemed so she wasted no time doin so. "Use water gun then defense curl," she called out to which the water type turned towards the horse pokemon to spray the water from his mouth. In terms of speed the Ponyta was likely going to beat her spheal since the ice type had stubby legs and couldn't move well aside from rolling about. In fear of retaliation the round pokemon rolled forward a bit as his thick skin got thicker in an attempt to help shield him from whatever came next.

"Dasher, dodge right and follow it up with a series of tackles!" Watching the Spheal come onto the field, followed by Syndra's commands—Sylvester knew for certain now that this battle was yet again bent against his success, and he would more than likely lose all of the individual battles against her. Yet there was no real evidence of that on his face, maintaining his expressionless composure and steadily giving his pokemon orders to best suit it's chances of survival.
Though deep down, Sylvester knew there were no stakes at risk. It was a friendly match, and though he sort of snapped at Syndra moments ago—he did not mean to sound like he was upset with her. Deep down, Sylvester aspired for him and his pokemon to struggle until they knew for certain all hope was lost. Perhaps it was mean to his pokemon, but in a true battle with something on the line—would they not fight to the last breath? This was training, preparation for that potential moment to come.
After all, Sylvester planned to take on both Teams Aqua and Magma. What kind of threat would Sylvester pose if he and his pokemon weren't willing to fight like that?
Run Away- Lv.05 - Healthy Ponyta dodged Water Gun! Ponyta used Tackle! Ponyta used Tackle!
From an outside perspective the sight looked rather sad. The flaming horse was pushing around the round spheal like playing with a beach ball. He wouldn't take much damage from it though as he kept getting hit. Syndra said nothing as well as she watched the scene take place to allow the pokemon to gain momentum from being hit around the field. With some degree of focus she finally spoke once the second attack was called against her pokemon. "Time to return the favor. Rollout with Water Gun." A coo signaled the understanding of the command as the spheal rolled forwards against the Ponyta's second tackle to push against it. In addition as he did he spat a stream of water for water gun as well.
It would be hard to read Syndra right now as she was focus on the battle. Her vulpix kept nuzzling into her arm and chest which would help keep her grounded. She was happy that she had kept her vulpix out of her pokeball for now as the fire type kept an eye on the battle. The fox was young but it was learning even if she was more interested in affection and attention.

Sylvester could not believe what had been taking place before his very eyes. As Dasher seemed to push around the other pokemon, it's retaliatory move seemed to render his almost now believable chances of winning this last battle. Making a swift rolling action towards his Ponyta, it released a gout of water that completely floored his Ponyta.
Even after the attack was over, Dasher showed no signs of getting back up. His flaming mane also lessened in size, Sylvester rushing over to his pokemon and allowing it back inside the pokeball as to give it somewhere to rest without further disturbance. It turned out to be quite a battle, but in the end Sylvester showed no progress as a trainer. It was actually quite depressing, his record of wins being zero, and tacking on a painful second loss—officially giving Sylvester a losing streak.
Run Away - Lv.05 - K.O Ponyta is hit by Rollout! Ponyta is hit by Water Gun! (Critical hit) Ponyta has fainted!
"Nice job, Syndra. You know your pokemon, that's for sure." Placing all of his pokeballs into his inner coat , Sylvester's mind wandered back a few moments to when he snapped on Syndra. She hadn't said anything or made any mention of it, but he felt it was appropriate to let her know he was sorry irregardless. "Apologies about earlier, I just...well, I haven't won any of my battles against another trainer. Not that I have battled that many, but...I just feel the need to go that 'extra mile'. If I don't, who knows if I will ever be able to win a battle against a trainer...?"
As the Pontya fell over the girl watched sadly as Sylvester ran over to its side. Spheal had since slowed its roll to a stop and tilted his body wondering if that was too much. "You did well Spheal. Return," Syndra said as she recalled the round pokemon. It was a clean sweep. The typing just lined up in her favor but so did experience. Aside from the Sylveon it didn't seem that Sylvester's pokemon were all on equal footing with her own. She did start first so it was no huge surprise but part of her wanted him to realize there was no shame in withdrawing from a losing battle. Her steeled battle expression was dropped in favor of a gentler one as she walked over to face the male trainer.
She received a compliment for her win and how she handled her own pokemon to which she nodded in acceptance. "Thank you. Your pokemon show promise and they visibly trust your judgment," she said in response. Her vulpix still out of her pokemon jumped out of Syndra's arms as she also noticed how sad the other trainer was. In an attempt to make him feel better and get more attention, mostly the later reason, she walked over and nuzzled the side of her face against the male's leg. The young woman realized what Vulpix was doing but didn't pay it much mind. Instead she focused on Sylvester's words. "That's just part of being a trainer," she said reactively but once she realized that she said it aloud she decided to amend her wording. Syndra herself had suffered losses too which while hurt her pride did make her grow stronger and learn from her mistakes. "You just started your journey. You've already made it this far which is impressive but I don't think you have anything to feel bad about. I'm sure that whoever you battled just had more experience as a trainer and you have nothing to be ashamed about. I felt something similar when I first started out."
As for the next part she paused. Normally she would say don't worry about it but for the moment if he was willing to listen, she was honestly concerned. "I understand wanting to go the extra mile but having your pokemon go through unnecessary pain and suffering just seems wrong. I thought you would understand that." When she first met Sylvester he had stated that he didn't like seeing pokemon fight each other and being used like tools. She believed that he cared about pokemon so it worried her that he was pushing his pokemon so hard. That maybe he was pushing himself just as hard too which makes what was going on worse. "There is no shame in having calling off your own pokemon from a lost battle and regrouping. The way you're fighting just seems suicidal and if its against your enemies I fear for what would happen... you know? Relax and find a way around your wall not through it." She didn't know if her words would make things better or worse but she tried with her mini speech. She was used to giving these types of things to her little brothers and while she wasn't an expert trainer either she didn't want to see anyone suffering if she could help it.

"Yeah, maybe you're right." Taking everything Syndra said into consideration, Sylvester realized what he did was pretty much exactly what he said to Syndra that he didn't like with trainers. It was pretty awkward, feeling like a hypocrite. Though it was good she brought this to his attention now. Maybe some of Sylvester's pokemon really would come to hate him if he put them through this sort of thing often enough. That was just about the worst thing that could happen, and it would ruin his reputation as a trainer. He'd really have to get to work on himself before he thought to try battling with his pokemon again.
"It's hard to imagine that you've lost to someone, though. Maybe your first battle or so, but with your current team I'd bet you're going to humiliate the first gym leader of Petalburg City if you haven't already." The way the battle had felt so one-sided, Sylvester wouldn't be surprised if Syndra actually had beaten Norman by now. Rumor had it that a trainer had already defeated him at this point in time. "I'll keep what you said in mind. I think I should get going now, though." Noticing the Vulpix nudging himdown by his pants leg, Sylvester lowered himself to pet it momentarily. "I should get my team to the pokemon center here soon." It was touching that her pokemon were so cheerful after battle, as if it didn't rile them up or anything.
"I hope to see you again sometime. It'll be nice to see how much farther your pokemon come along from now until then. Maybe we'll skip the battling part, though." Making sure he had everything, Sylvester took a stand and gestured with a short wave to the Vulpix that he was going to leave. "You and your pokemon take care. Bye for now." Turning around towards where they had entered the route from, Sylvester made his way into Rustboro City's limits looking back on the events that had transpired.
The male seemed to listen and take what the girl said to heart which made her feel relieved. There was some hope yet and Syndra had now long since forgiven what he said during the battle. She smiled at the compliment she received feeling slightly elated by it but said nothing further. Thinking back to her own losses, she pursed her lips. They were moments she didn't like to think about but she knew it helped in the long run. The fire type gave a cute cry of happiness when Sylvester pet her and gave her attention even if it was only a moment. When he stopped the fox looked pouty to which Syndra herself picked up the young pokemon and place her back in her arms. "Thank you for listening. Good luck on your travels," she said with a wave once she noticed that the man was ready to leave. She was going to stay on the field a bit longer to keep scouting around the route for the easiest way to the next town so she saw him off with a smile. As a trainer she didn't doubt that he was going to do well down the road and if he was able to curb that instinct to force things to the extremes then she was sure he would be a great challenger as a trainer. "I'm sure we'll meet again sometime soon and I'm looking forward to seeing how much your team grows in that time too." With those words the fire type licked her trainer's face which led to Syndra giggling due to the ticklish sensation as she walked the other way.
