■ what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Fidel was feeling especially lazy today, she didn't quite know why. Perhaps it was just an off day for her, or perhaps something was just bothering her in the back of her head that made her not want to do anything. Whatever the case, she knew she had to snap out of it. Training! Training was a good way to snap out of it. A quick loss battle should snap her back into shape.[break][break]
Marching up to the nearest person resembling a trainer, she held out a Poke Ball and locked eyes with them. From what she read, this was the traditional way to begin battle. "Hey, you! Battle me." And suddenly, Magikarp was out on the floor, flopping around. It was a bit confused, but it sensed a battle, and waited for orders.

Dylan backtracked into the woods hoping for a good battle, he wasn't sure if he'd find a trainer or a Pokémon, but he tested his luck anyway out here. Any battle would do good to set him up for the Gym he was going to challenge soon, so he'd hope something or someone would show up soon. "Alrighty anything around here? Nope? Moving on then."
He paused suddenly, for some reason he couldn't just continue walking and heard some strange music playing in the back of his head. "I sense a battle." He mutters and looks over to a little girl who walked his way. The two locked eyes and Dylan knew what was about to go down. "Sure thing I'll accept your challenge!" He replied happily that he found one so quickly! "Go Skiddo! Use Vine Whip on that Fish thing!" He commanded.

Her eyes lit up. Yes! Wow, what chance! She didn't know people were so willing to battle without introduction. Man, she should do this more often. "Magikarp, dodge!" She said, a smile forming on her eyes. She still couldn't believe her luck! Now her lazy streak would go away and she'd be back to her normal self.[break][break]
Magikarp watched for the vine coming towards it, and flopped to the side of it, letting the grass type attack slam into the ground next to it. Looking at it's opponent, it was feeling a bit lethargic as well, so it's body was still a bit sleepy. There was no way that it was gonna dodge the next one; it's muscles weren't stretched out enough yet.

Dylan frowned at the Magikarp dodging, he wanted this to be quick and easy, but whatever he wasn't going to complain about it. He then thought about what to do next for a brief moment. "Uhh. . . I guess I'll just use a Growth for now." He muttered and his Skiddo nodded, the leaves on it shined green for a moment, and then looked livelier then ever.
"Alright now go for another one of those Vine whips!" Dylan commanded, but his Skiddo was prancing around happy at it's healthy leaves. "Come on Skiddo you know we're in a battle." Dylan said to his Grass Type. "Skiiid." She replied and nodded again, sending a vice directly at Magikarp again

Magikarp fainted instantly, giving one last flop as it landed at Fidel's feet. Horrifying! Terrible! Heartbreaking! Devastating! ...It wasn't. Fidel just crossed her arms and gave a long, winded, unamused raspberry, more to herself than to Dylan. She recalled Magikarp, still feeling pumped after that battle, despite her loss.[break][break]
"Alright, thanks for the battle! Good game." She extended her hand for a handshake. Despite how utterly short it was, she still remembered her courtesies. She should probably get to the Petalburg Woods, the next chance she got, to be fair. More battles! But still dangerous, considering Magikarp couldn't attack.

Dylan smiled now, that was quick and easy he wasn't going to lie. He petted his Skiddo who ran circles around his feet. "Good girl!" He praised the Grass Type, and patted here head softly. This was all one more step to the gym, and one more step to rising in the Magma Ranks. Dylan looked over to the girl and smiled kindly.
"Thanks for the battle. It was a nice match." He replied to the girl taking her petite hand and gave her a firm handshake. He didn't care if it was over in a flash a battle is a battle no matter how small right? Well he should offer her some help he can take some time to walk this girl safetly out of this forest. "Want me to walk you to Rustoboro City safety?"
"Nah, I'll just head back to Petalburg." Fidel said. To be honest, she did want to get to Rustboro in her own power; though she may take signs of goodwill from time to time, she realized that it wasn't very good if she couldn't make her own path. What's an adventure if you're not the one having it? She'll have to politely decline any offers in the future.[break][break] "Alright, see you!" She waved goodbye to the other trainer with a smile, making her way back to the familiar city from the sandy road. As she walked away, she reached out her arm and gave a thumbs-up, reflecting her current mood. Alright, she was back in the game today! Now all she had to do was keep battling and working hard. She couldn't afford a day of slacking off, not yet.

Dylan nodded, if she felt safe enough to Petalburg city herself she was free to do so. Dylan returned his Skiddo and began waving farewell to Fidel. It was a weird and quick battle, but Dylan was happy his Pokémon learned something hopefully, and so did the girl's Pokémon did as well. "Bye bye!"
He then turned around to face the woods again, and charged off. Gotta get some battles going on or else Dylan would never be ready to challenge the gym. Maybe he could rematch Andrea? Or fight someone really tough like Cassandra? Who knows who's next, but the Gym Leader is coming up for sure!
