"I couldn't have done it without my adoring fans, 'specially the cute green haired ones." He grins at the newcomer so very familiar to him, "Seeing as you're here now, does that mean you'll be flooring me later with whatever you've chosen for the Gala this evening?" The sun falls ever so slightly as they continue the conversation the trainer pushing off against the pole. "Actually I'm just looking to kill some time, everything's set for the evening so I thought to get a little bit stronger, hopefully it's paying off. For a second I felt like I was falling behind, can't have that."
"Anyways what brings you out to the beach right now then? Looking to catch some rays, maybe go swimming for a few." His grin grows ever so slightly, once again brandishing a pokeball in his hand red eyes analyzing the girl carefully now, Or were you looking for a quick fight this time around?"
It was hours before the formal and Syndra was restless as ever for the sun to set and night to fall over Slateport. The female had come to the town a day in advance to reserve a room at the pokemon center and make sure all her preparations were ready. After all that she wasn't too sure what to do and was merely biding time. At first she had taken the time to do some fitness training with her pokemon and have a decent meal but that wasn't enough. Now she was bored and decided to take a walk towards the gate dividing slateport and route 110. It was a decent time during the afternoon so things should have been active if anything.
That said once she made it towards that direction an angry trainer had rushed passed her. It caused her to raise a brow as she turned back to where he was bolting away from to see a familiar flare of red hair. Evan's hair was neater and darker than that so she immediately knew who was likely the cause of that behavior. Walking up she shook her head with slow clapping, "And the victory goes to Miles." Her voice was louder and exaggerated like an announcer's as she spoke with a smile. She wasn't surprised to see him in slateport nor was she shocked to see what he was doing. "I see you're still looking for fights."

His words had Syndra shaking her head in disbelief as she looked towards the male who had so blatantly commented on her presence. He mentioned meeting her at the Gala to which her jade eyes shifted to the side to look into the distance. Her outfit was not the best but since it was a masked gala hopefully she wouldn't draw too much attention from people she didn't know. "If you can find me," she offered with as she turned back to face him. Killing time was pretty much the go to currently for most people. Shaking her head when he mentioned catching rays and sunshine, she spoke again. "I think I got enough of that in Petalburg. Plus I'm not dressed for the beach and with the Gala being tonight I don't want to feeling of sand anywhere on myself."
Upon the challenge of a battle a smile came to the female's face. This would be the third time they fought now if she accepted? Yeah, she was going to accept of course. "I'll accept if that was a challenge," she stated with a smirk as she unclipped her first pokeball. In a flash of light her Sandshrew appeared, stretching as she grew more situated with the lighting.

With a smirk of her own the woman pulls a pokeball ready to battle, he lobs his own simultaneously. The first matchup being Bulbasaur vs Sandshrew. He had the type advantage this type around, but her sandshrew was definitely more experienced when it came down to actual combat. The baby pokemon was growing more used to fighting, but still was quite nervous when it came to fighting. "I'll start!" He calls, to the green haired girl across from him "Move in with a Tackle twice over!" In truth he should have been using some of his more experienced pokemon himself, however he's needs to Grass type to grow stronger and quickly at that lest it wasn't prepared for the match he planned to use the pokemon in down the line.
He thinks back on previous battles with the girl this would be their third official battle, essentially the two were tied, him having forfeited their first battle and the second he defeating her. He wonders how the dice will drop this time around both trainers having grown stronger every day. Both even having earned their first badges he only days away from earning his second, hopefully at least. The trainer watches his grass type dash forward attempting to tackle the ground type pokemon twice over determination flooding his small body now.
Bulbasaur. Type advantage was obvious however this was the same baby pokemon that Miles had used against her vulpix before. This wasn't really all too fair as her ground type had more battle experience. Still she was going to take it seriously. "Counter with Poison Sting!" Syndra called out. That said it didn't mean her Sandshrew was going to take it seriously. The ground type sat there with a bored look on her face. It wasn't exactly disobeying her trainer but she didn't see the point of fighting this battle. This discrepancy was too high for it to even be considered fair and as a prideful yet motherly pokemon she wasn't going to actually poison the bulbasaur.
"Sandshrew?" Syndra said the pokemon's name as it turned her head. The Bulbasaur's attacks had connected but hadn't much budged the unmoving pokemon. Honestly it looked quite embarrassing and perplexed the girl as to why her Sandshrew wouldn't attack. "Fury Cutter?" that was also a super effective move to which the ground type shook her head. The sandshrew seemed to talk to the bulbasaur as well in pokemon speak, saying she wasn't going to fight the grass type either.

It was strange, but a concept Miles was all too familiar with. It was clear the sandshrew was blatantly refusing to battle the small bulbous pokemon. Miles couldn't help but feel slightly offended, but a battle was a battle nonetheless and so Miles would call out another order the two tackles connecting as the trainer watched. He couldn't understand what the ground type pokemon was doing, but it seemed to be speaking to the bulbasaur the grass type a little annoyed it wasn't being taken seriously. The baby was becoming a proud pokemon similar to that of scizor and a number of others who made up the bulk of his team.
"Alright leech seed, into another tackle!" The trainer calls another command this time the grass type forces a small seed to fly out of the tiny opening in it's back the seed releasing a number of energy sapping vines hoping to cover the ground type pokemon entirely before attempting to tackle it again it's eyes focused now as it continues it's barrage of attacks against the stagnant sandshrew. Miles glances up at Syndra a bit confused now, not yet ready to relent.
"Sandshrew that's enough. Return." As the red stream of light recalled the ground type the tone of the female was obviously one of disappointment. Even Miles was looking at her strangely and all she could do was shake her head and apologize. The ground type was going to get a stern talking to later. "Sorry. I'm not sure what came over her. Let's just pretend that never happened and move on to the next round..." She said that but it would be hard not to remember what had just happened. She decided to pick one of her younger pokemon this time around as she lobbed her next pokeball out. At least this way she knew that the pokemon wouldn't randomly have a rebellious streak.
Out came from the dancing white light was the small amber fox. The fire type gave a cute cry of her name as she leaned into her battle pose. The curled tails parted slightly as she was ready for a fight. "Vulpix, ready?" The fox nodded in agreement waiting for the battle to begin.
Vulpix, fire-type (flash fire) Level 10
Sandshrew is recalled. Vulpix is sent out in place for battle.

The ground type is recalled once again bewildering the grass type pokemon the red light seemingly grabbing the sandshrew before it disappeared from in front of him entirely. After a moment the small pokemon realizes it managed to win running back to his trainer excited. Miles has a half smile on one hand proud of his pokemon on the other he doesn't feel like it's an actual win. Regardless he kneels patting the bulbous pokemon's head first congratulating him, and thanking the small pokemon for its hard work. Seconds later a red light comes recalling the grass pokemon to its own pokeball. "No worries." He's not stressing it by any means, he understands sometimes pokemon act of their own accord, after all they're living breathing things as well they act of their own volition because they're their own beings so to speak.
The man slides another pokeball from his pocket as she calls out her Vulpix it's been a minute since he's used his next pokemon, but still the red haired trainer knows she can use a good work out. "Sola you're up!" The pokeball hits the ground and in another flash of light the Larvesta appears pouty for some reason or another looking at her opponents scowling at the green haired girl and her pokemon. The bug type pokemon seems to hold a grudge against thegirl and simply lays on the ground. Watching the enemies. "You can take the first move." The trainer calls across the field.
The fox wagged her several tails in an adorable fashion as she waited to battle. Upon the Larvesta being called out the fox cried a happy greeting. It had been awhile since Syndra had actually seen Miles' Larvesta in action. The pokemon still looked as healthy as ever which was good though for some reason it didn't look to pleased. Regardless it was time to get into action. Vulpix had already gotten started as she stared towards the bug with her large beaded eyes. Syndra had recognized the move as baby-doll eyes as the fox was used to using that move to get whatever she wanted out of her and the rest of her pokemon. Shaking her head the female trainer thought over what else she could do in this position. Snapping her fingers together in realization she spoke, "try Quick attack." That was a new move that the fox learned moments prior to this current battle. She could only assume the fox learned it based off of how often she jumped and ran to things when out of her pokeball. The fox sprang into a leaping lunge towards the bug type with the intention of slamming into it as hard and fast as she could without hurting herself in the process.

The battle continues on the vulpix on the offensive. Even as the fox pokemon begins it's attack Sola looks far too passive for comfort. Miles can only wonder what exactly seems to be up with the Larva pokemon. "String Shot and Follow into Take Down!" The trainer calls out in hopes of slowing the fast fox before countering with Larvesta's own tackle esque attack. However the pokemon almost mirroring the ground type used moments earlier refuses to attack the quick attack doing light damage to the pokemon. The bug type barely winces as Vulpix connects leaving Miles far more confused and slightly annoyed at that. The pokemon looks back at her trainer obviously defiant now. The red headed trainer grumbles watching the pokemon now hoping she'd end this farce soon.
As she refuses to battle the trainer swears he can hear the bug pokemon snore lightly, what exactly was her problem? He's too focused on his own pokemon to even look up at either of their current opponents.
"... Eh?" Syndra found saying to herself as she watched the bug type sit there. Miles had called out moves but the other fire type seemed to refuse to respond. It reminded her of her own Sandshrew. That alone made her worry what had gotten into their pokemon. At the least it was affecting not only hers. That said just looking at Miles' reaction to this made it look like he hadn't seen this behavior before or at least didn't appreciate it.
Vulpix didn't seem pleased either and didn't realize why she was being ignored or taken so lightly. So she tried again by rushing back in with her quick attack, aiming to strike multiple times. Syndra blinked when she saw the fox rush back in but made no attempts to stop her.

The vulpix continues to dash in now either annoyed or perhaps seeing an opportunity, despite it all the larvesta refuses to attack. Miles gives a sigh in resignation. The Larvesta looks a fair bit more damaged, but still he doubts the pokemon will move at all until it faints and so he pulls her pokeball back out deciding to recall it now. "See it happens to everyone." He gives a small laugh slightly annoyed with his pokemon, "Oh well what can you do." of course he'd need to talk to his pokemon later apparently something needed to be worked out regarding Sola, no matter the trainer calls his next pokemon out now. He throws out the next pokeball the light revealing the pokemon who was to escort him tonight.
The blade pokemon looks excited falling into a battle stance of sorts, Braev prepares his claws eyeing the familiar girl, waiting for her to send out her next pokemon as well. "Let's continue on, yeah?"
Upon Miles recalling his Larvesta did Vulpix yip happily as she ran back to Syndra. She wanted praise and affection for her efforts even if the win was out of technicality. Falling into the ruse the female knelt down and turned Vulpix over to scratch her tummy. The fox's expression showed enjoyment of the treatment up to the point that Syndra recalled the fire type into her pokeball. "Looks like we both will need to talk to our pokemon huh?" she stated in a tone of resignation. Miles threw out his next pokemon being the red steel pokemon that he had used before. Now it looked much stronger. Thinking it was a good time to test her new teammate, Syndra fetched her next pokeball and lightly threw it into the air.
The ghost type pokemon floated there wordlessly as he looked about his new surroundings. It was all rather foreign to him. Ever since his capture he was trying to get used to the new world and it was cumbersome at best. Here though he realized he had to fight. He gives the opposing type a quick look about, analyzing him with his one ghostly eye via Foresight and nodded. Now it was up to Syndra. "Alright Shadow ball!" The dark eerie sphere of darkness was produced and thrown towards the tall bug, hoping to hit.

"You're not wrong." Another short laugh follows her statement as she calls out her next pokemon. He's yet to have seen this pokemon of hers it must have been a new addition to her team. "Oh that's new." He comments all the while Scizor changing his offensive stance into a defensive one, Dusukull seeming to analyze the blade pokemon. The opponents begin by firing an orb of ghoulish energy at the blade pokemon. It's been a minute since the blade pokemon's felt any sort of actual pain from an attack and so when the dust from the blast clears there seems to be a glint in the bug type's eyes. "Bullet Punch and follow into Aerial Ace!" The trainer calls without a second thought of any variety the pokemon burst forwards its pinsir's hardening aiming to bash the pokemon once before fading out of sight and going in for a second attack that of course being Aerial Ace, a new trick the pokemon had picked up thanks in part to Basil.
Miles watches his pokemon move swiftly waiting to see the results of their training. The blade pokemon had needed a good fight as of late he'd been missing good fights recently.
