Sylvester was just outside the Granite Cave, watching as the few passerby made their way in and out of the vicinity. 'Doesn't seem to be very busy here as of yet. I wonder why.' Perhaps Sylvester was finally making progress as a trainer, and had gotten further than those still located in Petalburg City.
'That can't be true, though, can it?' The amount of trainers Sylvester had seen at Slateport City during the summer gala was enough to change his mind. 'Maybe they are all still ahead of me...?' It was an upsetting sentiment to consider. Though, his worries were soon forgotten as he saw the silhouette of what appeared to be another trainer approaching the cave's open maw-like entrance.
[attr="class","thing_blurb"] To Bunny's surprise, she wasn't the only one going to the caves this evening. Her head shot up at the mention of her name, and her body relaxed as she saw the form of Sylvester appear in the near distance. She jogged a little to get closer to him, Diana trailing closely behind. Maybe Slateport had made her jumpy? Well, more jumpy than usual? [break][break] "Hey," she called out her acquaintance of sorts. Looking to Diana, she laughed quietly at his comment. "Yeah, she's as silly as ever." [break][break] The Dratini perked up, looking away from the water and back to her trainer, cocking her head to the side in curiosity. Bunny motioned her over and Diana followed in suit, settling down beside her trainer's feet. [break][break] "How's your Sylveon doi—" Bunny wasn't able to finish her question when Sylvester had already offered a battle — but for whatever reason, she was happy that he did. A battle sounded like the perfect distraction, if she was going to be honest. [break][break] "Sure, you can go first," she said with a nod, stepping back a few paces and pulling a pokeball off her belt. But before releasing her pokemon, she waited to see just what Sylvester had in store.

Noticing a figure moving their way towards him along the shoreline, Sylvester picked up his stuff from where he was and began making his way over towards them. Their Dratini was wriggling along in glee, and as he closed in on them, Sylvester couldn't help but feel as though it was a familiar face. "Bunny...?" Hoping that it was in fact her, he continued making brisk work of closing the gap between them both.
"It's me, Sylvester." Hoping that she would remember him, at least vaguely, he wondered just how much stronger her pokemon had grown since their last few encounters. "I see your Dratini is doing well, that's good." Before she would be able to interject by saying much more, Sylvester quickly suggested the two pass the time with a friendly match-up. "Would you like to have a quick battle? If you're headed somewhere or are just plain busy, I understand if you can't." He didn't want to force things upon the Bunny...
But truth be told, he really wanted to battle with her.

Not meaning to interrupt her, Sylvester gave a small smile at her inquiry. "Marley is doing well. Maybe you'll see just how well in our battle." Though that would have to wait, as Sylvester grabbed his choice pokeball and summoned Gunther before the two of them. "Swablu!" It soared overhead the two trainers before hovering between the two of them.
"Gunther, start things off with mist and safeguard." In the following moments a thin mist would envelope the area between the two of them, as well as Swablu glinting for a moment, a sign that his safeguard move had come into effect. "So, I wonder...who do you have to pit against Gunther?" He eyed closely the pokeball within Bunny's grasp, pondering on the potential pokemon she had to offer. 'Or maybe...she will go with her Dratini instead?' He would have to wait and see...
Natural Cure - Lv.20 - Healthy Gunther used Mist! Gunther used Safeguard!
[attr="class","thing_blurb"] The battle started relatively quickly, but Bunny didn't mind. It was a nice change of atmosphere, and it'd keep her head busy so she wouldn't think of... other things.[break][break]
While peering at the Swablu, she weighed her chances. Swablu was part flying type, so Diana would be perfect against it with her ice beam. Peering at the Dratini, though, Bunny shook her head. No, that'd be too easy — and her other pokemon needed to be trained too. Diana was already a good couple of levels above the rest of her team.[break][break]
Pulling out a pokeball, Bunny threw her first choice into the battle. Garnet stood proud and tall, though quiet and with little emotion on her face. The Ralts looked ready to fight, despite being... kind of weak compared to her opponent.[break][break]
"Garnet's gonna fight for me first," Bunny said. "I would chose Diana, but her Ice Beam would make it almost unfair. I'd rather have an interesting battle than something easy, y'know?"[break][break]
Garnet nodded to herself, as if acknowledging what her trainer said despite the words not being directed at her. Bunny felt the slightest tingle of foreign thought in her brain, the faintest of tiny voices speaking up just loud enough for her to hear. "I'm ready when you are."[break][break]
Bunny looked around their small battlefield as it filled with mist, the particles reflecting bright specks of sunlight from the small sliver of sunset left on the horizon. It was easy to peer through, nothing like that of a smokescreen — but it still gave the Swablu an advantage.[break][break]
"Use Confusion, then Disarming Voice," Bunny told her pokemon with a projected, firm voice. She wasn't necessarily excited for this battle, so she didn't seem as enthusiastic as usual — but that didn't mean she wouldn't enjoy it.[break][break]
Garnet stepped forward, the two red horns on her head beginning to shine bright blueish-purple as she raised her hand, shooting a wave of psychic energy at the Swablu and hoping that it would hit. Then, attempting to use the mist to her advantage, Garnet darted through the battle scene quickly and sporadically until she felt the time was right — suddenly stopping, the Ralts raised her arms and began to bellow a beautiful yet melancholy song of some alien language, her voice raising to painful high pitches as she sang and wrought emotion over her opponent.

"I can relate." Acknowledging what had been said, Sylvester would be sure to give Bunny's Ralts a surprise. After Gunther withstood the Confusion, he was ready to go on the offensive. "Gunther, flank around and strike the Ralts with Astonish from it's hind." While not a powerful move, it was something effective against a psychic fairy type like Bunny's Ralts. "Circle about some more and then follow that up with your peck attack."
Hoping that was a good start to the battle, Sylvester eyed the Ralts and Bunny for the following moments. She was a Coordinator, and knowing Kristmar, it meant she could have a lot of TMs that her pokemon had already learned from—like her Dratini knowing how to use Ice Beam. That wasn't good. Maybe for Bunny, but definitely not Sylvester.
Natural Cure - Lv.20 - Mildly Injured (65%) Gunther is hurt by Confusion! Gunther dodged Disarming Voice! (1/2 dodges left) Gunther used Astonish! Gunther used Peck!
