the girl felt somewhat drained. every portion of her seemed to ache, her body dealing with the consequence of lengthy travel. the coordinator also hadn't slept very well the previous night, her mind abuzz with information regarding the actions she would soon commit. she had discussed such plans with julius at length, allowing for him to take the lead when they were dealing with more complex variables. they had a few solid ideas for now, but she remained anxious. not because she was putting herself at risk, but, because she was somewhat concerned for her pokemon's welfare.
andrea had mentioned her intentions to each and everyone of her companions, but all remained eager to serve her through this turbulent stage of her life. a fond smile slid itself onto her face as she considered their dedication.
"sniv. snivy."
her pokemon munched on his bitter treat, his tiny legs pumping to keep up with the female's lengthy stride.
"c'mere, boy."
she scooped up her snivy in her arms, a smile on her face.
"likin' yer treat?"
jester merely nodded his head before focusing on eating the puffin.
"can i try some?"
the snivy eyed her before tearing off a piece and offering it to his mistress. andrea chuckled, bopping her nose against his pointy one before allowing herself to be fed. she grimaced.
"bleh. i could never understood why ya liked that bitter shit," she muttered.
she swallowed and thanked him, nonetheless. they ended up seated on a bench, with the girl releasing a sigh as she slouched onto the wooden structure. her eyes fluttered shut while jester rested in her lap, the grass snake's gaze wandering to observe the passer-bys. he would occasionally wave at a pokemon or human that looked his way, smiling as he did so.
It took a good nights rest and then some to get Syndra's mind off of what happened at the Gala. For a few days she had a jaded look in her eye though some down time from traveling about and spending quality time with her pokemon helped. Today was one of those days where she would explore the city, trying to forget those thoughts that carved daggers through her chest from the foreign feelings that seeped through there. The smile the green haired girl usually wore proudly had crossed her features though it felt like something was missing in it that she had lost. Even her pokemon had noticed it as mild concern would strike her partner's expression as the grass turtle glanced to the trainer as they walked through the streets.
"Don't worry about me Grotle," Syndra would finally speak after the third look her way from the starter pokemon. The turtle gave a hefty cry that sounded more like a moaning complaint to which the female pat the back of the turtle to comfort him. "Let's just have fun. I'd rather forget-" Her sentence was cut off from the uneasy sensation that she felt tugging at her internally. Perhaps it was due to the noises she heard in the background. One cry from a Snivy and cursing that passed by that she barely heard much less paid attention to.
The tension made her try to unconsciously find the source and her eyes scanned the immediate area until finally laying a sideways glance at the unfortunately familiar black haired woman only to dart away back to her pokemon hoping the other didn't notice. She was trying to forget and just laying eyes on who was supposedly a trainer did the opposite as a bitter taste bloomed on her taste buds. "Hey. I changed my mind. Why don't we visit the beach." The grass type gave her a questioning look and remained motionless with no response to which Syndra gave a false pout as she turned her back to the Snivy owner. There was no doubt that she would be recognized with her iconic green hair though that didn't mean she couldn't try. Then again in Syndra's mind there was nothing else to say between the two.

"jes, gimmie five more minutes. momma's tired."
jester peered up at his mistress, a look of irritation etched onto his features. she had been napping for a solid hour now, and the grass snake had already grown bored. with a small huff, he curled his slim shape, adjusted himself comfortably upon her lap, and shut his eyes. he was the first to stir in response to the presence of a strange woman and her sturdy companion.
"sniv?"
the grass-type blinked, his curiosity obvious as he deposited himself from the coordinator's lap in favor of approaching the oddly familiar green-haired woman.
"sniv..."
he peered up at her face, an inkling of memory attempting to emerge. why did this woman appear so familiar?
"snivy?"
jester shrugged, turning toward his mistress as he quickly lost interest. to his surprise, she was completely awake, her gaze having shifted toward the human female.
"huh."
andrea stood and stretched her arms and legs - curling her spine until a resounding pop and a quiet sigh of relief escape her.
"what do we have here," she drawled.
the girl approached, her grin apparent.
"yer that gal sylvester was familiar with, yeah? ya were with that... ah ... ranger guy?"
instead of appearing angry or upset over her appearance, the coordinator remained lax. an oddly friendly grin on her features as she greeted the trainer.
"i didn't catch yer name last time around."
andrea looked to jester who now clung onto her leg.
The look of disappointment faded as the heavily accented voice was directed to her, the trainer freezing as a more steeled expression was worn. Her lips were pursed into a thin line as her jade eyes shifted over to the other that took notice of the two. The words she used and the outward friendliness didn't bode well as the girl turned now to at the very least acknowledge the other existed. "Yes. Was." Her response was curt and not so much gentle anymore. That much was to be expected. Even the usually ever present smile was dropped entirely.
The other asked for a name and Syndra shook her head. Ordinarily she wouldn't have cared to give her name but as of this moment? From what she knew in her mind about this person that was like handing a murderer a gun. "I didn't catch your name either," she said simply. She didn't plan to give her name until proper protocol was partially adhered to. Her Grotle looked between the two females unsure what happened that caused such an atmosphere but gave a grunt in greeting regardless of that fact. Whatever initial response Syndra wanted to say made her bite her tongue rather than blurt it out haphazardly. For now it would be best not to cause another scene and what is done is done. There was no reason to continue giving such a person the time of day. At the same time however Syndra wasn't completely unfriendly as she at the least spoke with them. "Pardon my saying but was there something you wanted from me? We were just headed to the beach."
"andrea," she drawled, opening her arms wide. "coordinator. at yer service."
the smile remained on her face as the trainer went about reluctantly rattling off a half-assed response of her own. there was something positively delectable in gauging the girl's reaction to her presence alone. jester patted her leg, attempting to veer andrea's predatory gaze away from the green-haired gal.
"s-snivy."
"what's wrong boy?"
her eyes remained glued on the momentarily nameless woman's face.
several seconds of awkward silence. there was something wrong, because the coordinator's grin was too wide - her lips curling to show teeth as she finally reacted to the word 'beach'.
"beach?"
andrea gasped excitedly.
"i fuckin' love the beach! jester, this nice lady invited us ta the beach. isn't that great?"
"sniv..."
"let's go, then!"
the coordinator gestured.
"the weather's great. i'm sure there's plenty 'o sweet babes that need checkin' out. they're quite sexy in this heat. the hotter it is the more they show, yeah?"
she cast the green-haired woman a lewd grin, licking her lips in a slightly sensual manner.
Shocking. She didn't lie. Regardless the female remained distrustful. "Syndra. Traveling trainer." Again another short and brief response that somewhat mirrored Andrea's own introduction. Sizing up what the other wanted from her, the smaller grass type took away her attention. It gave the green haired girl the chance to turn to Grotle who looked back to his trainer with more concern. Overhearing her words, part of her believed that this person was purposefully grating her nerves. Why else would she say she was trying to befriend her?
Exhausting a breath to keep her cool, the trainer moved to leave after not receiving a response for what this person could have possibly wanted. Almost as if affirming her suspicions by not answering and even pushing herself onto their plans, salt began to coat her tongue. "Excuse me?" Perhaps she was hearing wrong and her tone suggested that she in fact did not wish for the company. There was no way that Syndra would even entertain the thought of parlaying with a self absorbed lunatic.
Then this again. Her words and the vulgar actions made the green haired one cringe as flashbacks at the unsavory night rang through again. Couldn't do it anymore. "That how you seduced Sylvester too? Spread your legs wide and opened your mouth?" To an outsider perhaps she would look as the villain. Perhaps more bystanders would fall for some pitiful deathtrap of insincerity. That didn't matter now however. Clenching her hand into a fist from its resting place on Grotle's back the grass type was getting the picture as well. "I'll be blunt. I don't have any intention of going anywhere with you, much less be seen with you." Her voice exuded confidence and had a patronizing edge. "I'll repeat myself for you. What do you want?"
andrea's amused demeanor faltered as the woman boldly claimed that sylvester's decision to defend her was granted only because of a past sexual favor. the coordinator paused, eyebrows slowly furrowing as she cast the woman a look that revealed her annoyance.
"yer a real bitch. ya know that," she drawled.
getting closer, the girl's lips curled into a snarl.
"ya have that fuckin' irritatin' as hell high-and-mighty attitude goin' on that makes me want ta just slap the fuck outta ya."
she seethed, retreated a step, and forced herself to reign in her temper. her voice continued to quiver as she spoke.
"then again, i bet ya think yer superior. superior ta sylvester who stood fer me when i needed it. superior ta the pokemon who warmed up jes when he was frozen. and superior to the fuckin' team magma member who saved his life."
"sniv..."
"i bet if he died ya would have blamed it solely on me."
andrea chuckled.
"i was drunk. my pokemon was attacked by yers. i woulda understood if i was fightin' ya directly, yeah. i woulda. but my snivy's back was turnt and ya decided ta take full advantage. like a fuckin' coward. and than ya fault me 'cause i don't react fast enough fer ya. 'cause i don't say shit because i'm too busy bein' hammered and too busy worryin' fer my pokemon ta give a fuck about what that ranger was sayin'."
she turned away, with jester sighing in relief.
"stay away from sylvester. i don't want yer poison gettin' anywhere near him. ya took it too far; and i intend ta make ya pay fer that one day. not now, of course. but - ah - i suggest ya watch yer back."
andrea took her leave, wanting nothing more to do with syndra after all was said and done.
Now the real colors showed. At the words the previously complacent Grotle roared as he snapped his jaw in a warning fashion. Syndra patted his back to calm him as the effort was not worth it on someone like this. "That's funny coming from you," the trainer shot back evenly at the quip on her attitude. She didn't even raise her voice or sound angry at the fact. At this point this was what was expected to happen. With a self absorbed possible criminal in front of her it wouldn't do to expect anything less than foul tones. As for the threats? When one lived in poverty as long as she did, Syndra wasn't scared of such a petty threat like that.
The girl never thought of herself as superior but certainly she was much more mindful and polite than this person would ever be. Remaining silent as the other ranted and raved about the ones that aided her she mentally rolled her eyes. Was there even a need for this conversation? At least it was better than her cuddling up to her like they were buddies. "Yes. I would have blamed you for not being prepared. Any good trainer would have had the necessary medicine for the worst case scenario. Or said anything to help your pokemon when given an ultimatum not laugh like they were lunatics." Then again that was what Syndra believed the woman to be so she wasn't too far off. "If you said anything of use even I would have helped you with my own medicine but instead you had the audacity chose to risk your own pokemon's life for whatever your scheming. You're lucky to have such loyal pokemon after how your mistreating them"
There was no reason to speak further. This was her being goaded. To explain herself for a reason that the girl didn't even believe necessary. It was only at the mention of being drunk did the female scoff. That might have been the truth but drunks had unusually loose tongues which wasn't what happened in that scenario. "Ah that explains it. You're blaming the alcohol that you purposefully drank. Your own decision to drink. Typical as people like you don't own up to your own actions." Didn't matter if she was called a coward or a fool. At heart maybe she was but at least she wasn't a criminal. Syndra did and had owned up to her actions. There were no regrets in what she did and furthermore she felt that now Noah was validated in his first response at the speed dating. "Instead of thinking or preparing for your pokemon you took advantage of the bar for yourself. You expect me to feel sorry for you? To apologize? Maybe you should save your breath for someone that pities you just like that night."
The mention of Sylvester reopened some patched cracks. As of this moment she didn't care about what happened to the man. He had betrayed the trust that she had placed in him. Believed in the words that he gave only for it to be shattered into dust. With that in mind she didn't mind not interacting with Sylvester especially if that was his prerogative however trainers were known to do as they wish. "I don't control him and you don't control me. If you want to battle here and now you won't have anymore excuses to pull out so feel free to flee with the tail between your legs." While she wasn't egotistical she was at least confident enough that her skills were enough to take down a coordinator if she wanted to. "You should talk to him if your so against it but if its poison your worries about think its too late. He'll have to save himself now from the likes of you."
Now it was her turn. She could goad something from the other. Perhaps this is where her so called ego showed form as she refused to give Andrea the time of day. Syndra was the better person and so for now she'd allow the not yet prosecuted villain walk away until the time came that the crimes were revealed. Until then Grotle's deep glare was the only thing that stabbed daggers at the back of the female walking away. It would have been easy to have him attack but that was against Syndra's morals to have pokemon attack humans. "Sorry about that Grotle. From now on we should keep an eye out for that person... tell the others as well." With that the turtle nuzzled his head towards his trainer to which the temporary smile returned to her lips. "I appreciate your efforts but let's forget it for now and relax today okay?" Hesitant Grotle gave a nod but next time if this person had threatened his trainer again there would be a bloodbath.
