a night like rough silk, a heartbeat of ice
The subtle yet menacing aura that began to glow from the snarling luxio's body was easily recognizable as Roar. A tricky move. One that'd throw off the little strategy he used with Deimos since now sandstorm was in effect. Kris rubbed his face with a little exasperation as the gible was forcibly called back to his ball with him powerless to do anything. All the blonde could hope was... that lady luck would be kind to him and the next pokémon that'd be wrenched from its ball would work in his favour in some way...
Kris held back a quiet groan on seeing Adelaide be dragged on. Honestly, he'd been hoping for his seviper, at least. The ralts immediately began trying to shield herself from the sandstorm and Kris knew he wouldn't be able to work with her. The vicious weather would whittle her down and, in defense, she was weak. Andrea's pokémon would probably be too much of a challenge for her.
So... there was only really one thing he saw worth doing...
"Alright, Dei, come back out!" Without wasting too much time, he called back his struggling ralts and sent his gible out on the field. Again. "Use dragon rage quickly!" The attack was hasty, uncoordinated, seeing as so much movement in such a short span of time left Deimos a little disorientated, but he obliged his trainer's order anyway. Hurriedly, the pint-sized dragon began to release a steady plume of violaceous flames from his open maw before firing them in a large blast towards his opponent.
the girl was satisfied that she had managed to put the coordinator off his game for a brief period of time. it was also somewhat amusing to observe as frustration flitted across his expression. andrea could only grin, playing the part of the spectator as the tiny ralts struggled before she was quickly returned. the female pokemon was replaced by his gible that spewed out flames that would likely result in tanya's defeat if allowed to hit. realizing that her electric-type pokemon's time was almost up, she decided to dish out as much damage as possible.
"dodge!"
"lux!"
spark would automatically fail. and it would be a waste of energy and precious time, so, andrea decided to rely upon a much more physical method.
"push through the storm, girl!"
the luxio snarled against the sands, the cement now possessing clumps of dried earth as the storm progressed.
"bite!"
tanya lunged forward, moving to clamp her jaws around the dragon's toughened flesh.
"follow it up with another!"
she repeated the action, intending to weaken her foe as much as possible. andrea's gaze wavered, her mind working at a furious paced.

a night like rough silk, a heartbeat of ice
In this sandstorm, the young gible felt completely at home. With his streamlined shape, he was able to dart effortlessly through the rough winds that afflicted his opponent yet left him unscathed. He was able to evade both attempts by the luxio by using the sandy gales to his advantage and, in a moment of cockiness, gave an impish snicker. Kris rolled his eyes slightly but didn't discourage it - Deimos was a little demon when he was in his element - and merely clutched the snivy closer to his chest protectively, shielding her eyes from the sand.
"You've got her now, Dei!" Kris called out to the gible over the wind. "Earthquake!"
Deimos' beady eyes gleamed enthusiastically. He hopped from foot to foot, stomping them down, and chanted his name. A low rumbling drowned out the whistling howls of the sandstorm's gales and the paved ground cracked under the pokémon. Kris' eyes glanced to the nearby buildings that'd no doubt tremble as well although the move was contained in this small area. The ground shook violently near the luxio, ripping open and jumping up and down, bricks flew around as they were cast loose from the road and... heh. Maybe this move was a little too destructive to unleash in a city setting. But, despite his slight worry, Kris still encouraged his gible with a: "Keep it up, Dei!"
andrea's scowl was obvious due to her pokemon's failure to achieve any amount of damage toward the dragon. with a shake of her head, she could only watch as the luxio collapsed moments later, a small groan escaping the feline as she was forced to succumb to unconsciousness.
"ya did good, girl," she said, returning the fainted creature to her capsule. "now, rest."
once all was said and done, the female eyed the dragon up and down. this would be a toughie. no, it wouldn't. not completely. but, the dragon was still an issue that needed to be dealt with.
"hm..."
she continued to carefully eye the creature, her frown remaining firmly in place as she mulled over her choices.
"beerus!"
after this had been shouted, she plucked a pokeball from a belt and tossed the creature onto the sandy field. he immediately grimaced as he was faced with the storm.
"ice beam!"
the pokemon shot off one bolt of chill energy.
"another!"
this was predictably followed up by another attempt, the dark-type eagerly casting the move toward the powerful dragon that stood before him.

a night like rough silk, a heartbeat of ice
As soon as Andrea's luxio finally went down, a certain light began to radiate from Deimos' squat body. Due to the sandstorm that showed no sign of ceasing very soon, it took Kris a moment to notice it but, once he did, he knew what it meant. It was identical to Jade's light just mere moments ago. His starter was finally evolving; that last victory seemed like the last little push he'd needed. Kris clutched his wide-eyed snivy a little tighter, watching with growing excitement as the light grew blindingly intense before suddenly waning, revealing Deimos' new form.
"Gaaa!" The larger dragon roared enthusiastically, flexing his thin arms ended in menacingly sharp talons. Kris exhaled softly, a little taken aback, as he watched the evolved pokémon make experimental slicing movements in front of him while Andrea sent out her next pokémon. He gave a small jolt when he was finally aware of his pokénav vibrating in his pocket, notifying him of a new move the freshly evolved gabite knew.
Kris had a feeling that Andrea would've sent out a pokémon that knew ice beam but he was quite surprised to see that she hadn't opted for froakie or, by now, possibly frogadier. Absol was still no foe to snuff at; Kris had already gotten a taste of that pokémon's high attack power during his match with Usa. Glancing up from his pokénav, he breathed a relieved sigh on seeing Deimos evade the first shot and manage to gather his bearings quickly after the second.
"Let's give this one a try..." he told the weakened yet resilient gabite, "Dual chop!" With a shrill draconic cry, the surprisingly agile creature sped towards his opponent, claws at the ready as a violaceous aura began to emanate from them.

the girl looked on, her mouth agape as she observed the bold gible transform into a gabite before her very eyes. the sight of the transformed dragon caused her to hesitate, briefly. and with within that short period of time, beerus was struck by the powerful attack. this was quickly followed by another that felled the dark beast moments later.
"..."
startled by her absol's defeat, silence followed as the sands whipped about and caused her already messed mane to flow. a shaky breath escaped her, and she returned the dark-type, her lips pursed and her brows furrowed as she stared down the strong creature.
she had three pokemon left.
"ya got me," she said, nodding her head in acceptance. "jacqui!"
the fairy pokemon, snubbull, appeared - wincing slightly in response to the sand as her pinprick gaze settled upon the dragon.
"ice fang!"
the stout creature scampered forward, her jaws gleaming with chilled energy as she opened her maw wide to deliver a few bites to the strong beast.
