It had been several days since the fateful night of the incident at the summer gala. Sylvester had been able to relinquish the uneasy sensation riddling his mind and nerves, sitting on a bench at the entrance of Route 110. Aspiring to clear his head of everything that transpired, he finished jotting down the text message which he had hopes would reach the pokemon trainer he knew to be Syndra Mawdrey.
POKENAV TEXT
Now he played the waiting game...yet again. He did a lot of this, so it didn't faze Sylvester the slightest as he surfed the internet on his device about articles pertaining to pokemon, particularly the ones he owned. Sylvester liked to know as much about them as possible. Though quite frankly, he wished that Syndra would arrive sooner rather than later. At the very least Sylvester had time to think about what exactly he wanted to say to her. An apology?
'I wonder what Syndra will have to say about it all...'
The message that was sent? It would never reach the female trainer, or at least the contents never did. After convening with her pokemon at the pokemon center the girl had received the notification on her PokeNav that someone had messaged her. With a swift motion she took out the device and when the name Sylvester appeared on the screen there was no second thought about deleting the message without even checking it. After her run in with Andrea the day prior the girl couldn't stomach the idea of what the man that claimed to look up to her yet didn't hesitate doubting her would have to say. Instead she place the device back on her side as an exhale threatened to expose her strained stress to her pokemon. The single pokemon that retained that information was the wise psychic type in her team.
After a brief conversation with her party pokemon they all agreed it was time to leave the city of Slateport behind them. Since they had accomplished a good deal going back from Dewford and Rustboro the only thing to do now was go forward to the next gym in Mauville. Returning all of her pokemon save for Alakazam due to his current refusal to leave the female unattended after the gala. Thus began her trek to Route 110. It was a road she traveled before so she wasn't concerned about navigating straight to the city. She just hoped that she wouldn't run into anyone she knew.
Yet that luck wouldn't be by her side. It wouldn't be long for the female's path to cross with the man sitting at the bench as she noticed him as she walked towards the gate. After the gala Syndra looked different now. Her hair down as opposed to being tied in front of her, the dress she wore no longer bold red but calming colors, the ribbons and frills were gone, and most of her that cheerful smile she usually wore disappeared into a thin line. Perhaps this was enough for Sylvester not to notice her walk past? With her vibrant hair color unchanged that was unlikely, something that Alakazam reminded her of mentally. That didn't stop her from trying however as there was no pause in her step as she walked towards the gate without looking at Sylvester's direction, going as far as blinking when he was in eyesight. After what happened no one should blame this response.
Yeah she would have deleted the message but I made it work

Sylvester had taken to notice Syndra arriving, though in the manner she did something was off. She didn't look at him... She didn't seem happy... Then she just kept on walking by without acknowledging him...
He grew a bit discontent, wondering what exactly this was. Sylvester stood up, raising his voice so he was sure Syndra would hear him. "Is that how you treat someone when they wish to apologize?" Maybe...maybe he was wrong about her all along. Perhaps Syndra was lying to him back in Littleroot? Or was the fault all his? "Forgive me for being suspicious of your questionable affiliation with that ranger." Sarcasm. That ranger exploited the authority of his position, and Sylvester would be damned if he let someone like that bring harm upon his friends or their pokemon. That was the kind of technique teams aqua or magma would use to procure information from an individual, among other...more permanent methods.
The way he spoke, the condescending way almost reassured the girl that he had no intention on asking about the way she acted. Perhaps that was how the self-righteous were and she shouldn't have expected anything else to stem from this. If not for the fact that they were friends, or called each other so once upon a time, the girl wouldn't have stopped to acknowledge him. But she did. Halting in her steps she glanced over her shoulder whereas her Alakazam did the same albeit with more of a threatening gaze. "Oh? Didn't you know?" Her voice was the same tone as always though lacked up upbeat timbre from their past meetings. Brushing her hair back as she turned heel to face the man in question, her emerald gaze locked eyes with Sylvester.
"I was told never to speak to you again by your Andrea friend. You remember hearing about that from Grotle right Alakazam? I believe the exact words were..." The psychic type took point as he replayed the memory of the words from that day. The telepathy resounded intrusively through both their minds repeating the words exactly as heard without their voice. "stay away from sylvester. i don't want yer poison gettin' anywhere near him. ya took it too far; and i intend ta make ya pay fer that one day. not now, of course. but - ah - i suggest ya watch yer back." Of course Syndra didn't care one way or the other what the black haired girl said or threatened to do. She did what she wished and always would. Her pokemon on the other hand were more apprehensive about threats to their trainer. Nevertheless she exhaled a heavy breath as she pat her pokemon's shoulder to calm him. "Thank you Alakazam."
The psychic type nodded but wouldn't allow his trainer to step any closer to the other trainer. The Alakazam was determined to stay between the two and his guard for the entire area around them was active. Her attention then returned to Sylvester, "So if that is what you were sitting there for I would have never known. Not that I expect you to believe me. You didn't believe in me back in the gala after all. You didn't even bother to ask me much less listen." If only sarcasm didn't drip from Sylvester's words maybe she would have heard him out unlike how he had responded to her. At this point she didn't think that he was being serious about his want to apologize. He wanted to taunt her. Rub salt into her already open wounds. How could she have let it get this far? How could she have believed those sweet lies of friendship and dedication. It all made her sick to her stomach.
"That's some apology. Should I apologize for your affiliation with that suspicious woman?" She retorted with something akin to displeasure painted across her features. The Alakazam twirled the spoons in his hands but that earned only a glance from Syndra which caused the pokmeon stop almost immediately. No one else would know what was said between the two. "Because I won't. I won't ask why or even try to tell you what to do. So if you really did call me out here to apologize then please don't patronize me. I intend to go my own way and I believe you are as well so what is this about? I hope it isn't anything to give my pokemon another thing to worry about."

"Andrea never told me about that. Too bad I couldn't have been there." It really was a pity, since Sylvester was growing tired of the feud between them. It seemed to brew inside Syndra and her pokemon, causing him to retreat a step. "I only meant to apologize because I didn't want to make enemies. Irregardless of that, it seems that is how we currently stand." His demeanor grew much more tolerable of Syndra's remarks, and instead of seeking to argue, Sylvester aimed to resolve this meeting.
"We shouldn't be friends, I can see that now. Thank you for pointing out the error in my ways." The struggle between his friends and Syndra's own would resume, and ll the while Sylvester was left wondering why she even bothered to speak. Would she have really had much else to say if Sylvester had chosen to inquire about their precarious acts against Andrea's pokemon? That did not appear to be the case.
"I will go my separate way then. I had only hoped it wouldn't be necessary for us to cross paths like that again. I was foolish to think that you might feel the same." He waited for a response. Whether good or bad, Sylvester aspired for some closure before they went their own way.
Was that all? After all that she had done to help this man and be friends with him. After his so called respect for her, looking up to her, this is what came out of it. It took all she could muster not to roll her eyes, to not allow the feeling of her chest to well up to her eyes where tears would form. In the end this is what he chose, to side with them and even denounce whatever friendship they had. If that was the case she couldn't allow herself to show that weakness in her heart here. "If that is how you feel then I won't argue."
He didn't even question Andrea or get upset for trying to control the facets of his life. All Syndra could do was shake her head. "It's clear I didn't show you anything so don't thank me. Fate didn't make us enemies or make you decide not be friends any longer. You chose this of your own volition." On his final words she narrowed her eyes. When had she said anything of the sort? He didn't answer her question only dismissed it with some false assertion. He did nothing to quell what lingering demons lurked about amidst the two of them and merely implied she was in the wrong. Again. Who was he to say she didn't want to remain friends or make up? It was he who forced this upon her with his sarcasm and distrust.
Alakazam didn't take well to this either but again Syndra stopped him, this time with a hand to his shoulder. She would not allow her pokemon to attack humans unless absolutely necessary and this was not one of those times. It was not to say she was not angry or hurt by all this, but in time things would heal. "But for future reference don't go shoving words in my mouth again." Perhaps she should have never talked to him that day on route 101. Perhaps she was in the wrong to allow things to get this far. How was she supposed to know things would end this way? All she wanted to do when she first started this journey was travel with her pokemon, see the sights, be happy with her pokemon by her side. Now she had threats everywhere she turned from both foe and what used to be allies. Her pokemon's faces had more worry than joy these days and for what?
For now, all she wanted was to breathe again and return to her travels. Apparently that was all she was good for anyway. Turning her back now to prevent him from seeing her face, to allow him that satisfaction of seeing her in pain or even attempt to change his mind, she'd allow him to be. "It is nice to know where you stand and I hope you don't regret this choice. Goodbye Sylvester." Remaining still, she listened for him to walk away first because for some reason she couldn't.

"Oh, but I do regret my decisions. Why else come here to apologize? In fact...it was you, Syndra, who didn't wish to read that text of mine to remedy the current situation between us. I regret that too." Sylvester decided to walk closer towards Syndra, wary of the Alakazam and flashing his pokeballs as a sort of warning that Syndra wasn't the only one with pokemon. Though doing well not to linger on that sentiment, Sylvester allowed his trench coat to settle back into it's place.
"While we're still talking, tell me—what would you have had me do so differently?" By now, Sylvester was sure Syndra would understand him a little more. That, or she wouldn't and this effort of his to apologize was all in vain. The worst part for Sylvester to contemplate was that Syndra seemed to think of only him to blame. That her and the actions of those she was with were...acceptable? That he should have heard them out that night during the summer gala? Why? So they could convince Sylester they were doing the right thing?
"Alakazam, don't." This time a verbal warning right as the psychic type rose his spoons up defensively. Even if Sylvester flash his pokeballs it didn't matter to Syndra. There was no need for a fight to ensue even if her ex-friend was goading it. The intelligent pokemon gritted his teeth but ultimately remained defensive without initiating an attack. Despite herself the female listened to what the darker haired male had to say, perhaps under some false hope or shred of respect she had for him as an understanding human being somewhere in the corners of her heart that she did not lose. It was all for naught in the end. It was all the same... "Yet again the blame is on me is it?" It was a figurative question. Everyone already seemed to blame her. With her pokemon's strength it always led to some harsh looks though she worked hard for everything she earned. Her decisions were her own. It was not as if she shoved rare candies down her pokemon's throats to get them stronger they had all worked together. So why would she be looked upon so harshly for her actions because her pokemon were stronger than others? Somehow she doubted that this would have ended as badly if her pokemon were weaker but she wasn't going to apologize for that.
"What I wish? I wish that you didn't betray my trust. Sprinkle sweet lies to my face like you were my friend and that you looked up to me when you wouldn't even question why I acted that night as opposed to immediately accusing me." What kind of friend immediately takes sides when two of them are fighting without even getting the story from either of them. Trying to reason with one of them or even trying to settle the dispute? In this instance it was obvious. One friend was worth more than the other and she got the shorter end of that. In the end this was exactly what that person, that evil, wanted. So be it.
"I won't make excuses. You're right I didn't read your text because I'm tired of all the threats from everyone around me since that night." She didn't even try to figure out how he figured out that she didn't read his text just like he didn't try to figure out why Andrea had tried to control his social interactions. She would only confirm the truth that she hadn't. Why would she after all that had happened to her? Why shouldn't she just change her number so that those she trusted could contact her? Maybe that was the punishment she got for making enemies with a coordinator. Threats across the board. "Ones that I'm still getting now. If you really wanted to apologize you wouldn't have been deterred by that. We crossed paths here but instead of trying you only made more accusations and in the end decided that we shouldn't be friends."
She left her home to try to travel and be happy. Have a better life. Even make a name for herself as a strong trainer. Now her name was being run through the dumps and it was by no fault of her pokemon. It was because someone started a brawl. Someone refused to tell the truth and was not prepared when their pokemon was injured. Because someone so selfishly relished in the suffering of others while drinking the their heart away with the poison of man only for it to be used as an excuse. That terrible life? It continued to cling to her even with her fresh start. "It looks like you're no different from what I've been trying to leave behind."
Sorry this was late. Been busy and more focused on Victoria lately
