KEY: OS = On Site | IG = In Game | * = Pokemon I already have
*
Magnezone
Ability: Magnet Pull / Analytical
Moves: Zap Cannon | Discharge | Flash Cannon | Magnet Rise | Mirror Coat | Lock-On
Options: Super Sonic | Metal Sound
Rationale: I like Magnezone because of its ability to remove one of its weaknesses (via magnet rise). The fact that it also has a number of resistances (grass, rock, steel, normal, electric, ice, fairy) is also appealing. Analytical is interesting, but it might not be usable OS because of it being a turn-based ability. Lock-On might be interesting, iff it works the way of reducing one of the opponent's dodges. Since it's a move that doesn't have an accuracy stat IG, it technically can't be dodged. Super Sonice/ Metal Sound could be a replacement for Lock-On.
Staraptor
Ability: Intimidate / Reckless
Moves: Brave Bird | Close Combat | Take Down | Quick Attack | Roost | Double Team
Rationale: I like Staraptor because it gets Close Combat. With reckless, Brave Bird and Take Down are super powered. Roost allows it to recover the recoil damage. It also plays nicely along side Magnezone with its ground resistance. Staraptor would be an obvious sub for Crobat.
Dusknoir
Ability: Pressure
Moves: Shadow Punch | Fire Punch | Ice Punch | Thunder Punch | Night Shade | Willow Wisp
Options: Confuse Ray | Disable
Rationale: Dusknoir is bulky, has a useful resistance in the form of normal and fighting attacks, and packs all the elemental punching moves. Type-wise he works well with the previous Pokemon. Not sure if his ability is useful OS though.
*
Chandelure
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves: Flamethrower | Shadow Ball | Energy Ball | Willow Wisp | Hex | Pain Split
Options: Overheat | Confuse Ray | Imprison | Minimize
Rationale: Chandelure shares similar type advantage to Dusknoir, but comes with the bonus of being immune to fire and resistant to grass, fairy and ice. However, she also comes with a weakness to water, ground and rock, which, along side Crobat, means Usa's team has a weakness to rock-types. A grass type might be helpful to sponge the ground and water attacks, and a ground / fighting-type might be good to help with the rocks. I most likely would not use Chandelure and Magnezone on the same team, just because they would serve similar purposes (i.e. hit hard).
*
Absol
Ability: Justified
Moves: Dark Pulse | Fire Blast | Future Sight | Sucker Punch | Detect | Me First
Options: Psycho Cut | Double Team | Bite | Ice Beam | Swords Dance | Slash
Rationale: Absol is Usa's starter and will most likely stay on whatever team he makes. Absol's battle style is speed. So far, he's performed well. He also plays nicely along side Dusknoir because of typing.
*
Crobat
Ability: Inner Focus | Infiltrate
Moves: Acrobatics | Cross Poison | Bite | Confuse Ray | Screech | Roost
Options: Haze | Quick Guard | Poison Bite
Rationale: Crobat has been on Usa's team from the start. She's the first Pokemon he caught and one of his current strongest. She plays well with Absol because of her resistance to fighting attacks. Her attacks are less powerful than Staraptor's, but she is also more of a utility fighter than a power hitter. Poison Bite has a 50% chance to poison. Combine that with Confuse Ray and Screech (which increases the damage done by confusion as well) and she's a powerful fighter. Infultrate bypasses reflect, light screen and substitute.
*
Torkoal
Ability: White Smoke
Moves: Inferno | Lava Plume | Earthquake | Protect | Iron Defence | Amnesia
Options: Flail | Shell Smash | Smokescreen
Rationale: Torkoal :') The little fire turtle that could. I like it because of the insta burn from Inferno. I also like it because it's pretty bulky for a fire-type. Same problems apply with the chandelure weaknesses.
*
Cloyster
Ability: Skill Link
Moves: Icicle Spear | Hydro Pump | Toxic Spike | Protect | Spike Cannon | Shell Smash
Options: Supersonic
Rationale: Cloyster is a beast. Icicle Spear is dangerous. It also makes sense for a ranger to have something that can shootbullets icicles at the opponent. I really want to keep Cloyster on the team, but she doesn't play well with Absol and Corbat because she shares their weakness (fighting, rock and electric). She also doesn't really play well with some of the other Pokemon I have. So, I can either choose to build a team around her, or box her.
Okay! So, here are some ideas for team combinations and additional Pokemon to supplement some of the stuff I already have.
Team One
Absol, Cloyster, Dusknoir, Machamp (Fighting-type and decent movepool), Amoongus/Roserade/Vileplume, FILLER
Team Two
Absol, Chandelure, Crobat/Staraptor, Ferroseed, Machamp, FILLER
Team Three
Absol, Magnezone, Crobat, Dusknoir, FAIRY-TYPE(?), FILLER
Team Four
Absol, Torkoal, Cloyster, Ferrothorn, Machamp, Dusknoir
Aegislash is also an option, since he does both Magnezone and Chandelure/Dusknoir's job. I could probably also keep Magnezone and Aegislash on the same team since Magnezone has Magnet Rise. I would most likely have to get something that can take Fire attacks and is not weak to ground.
Please, any suggestion is welcomed. THANKS! <3
