drifloon floats along the wind, letting it push her towards random places. it's so peaceful. she could just steal a child - but she's too light to do that. maybe a human could help her out. drifloon doesn't really care. it bumps into something. oh, what is this? he instinctively wraps her arms around the object and constricts it.
He's certainly not expecting it. Why should he? After all, he's only doing what the Drifloon itself is doing -- letting the path carry him, simply going with the flow. August is basking in his freedom from the everything that had once held such a sour taste. Hoenn is the perfect place for him to start over, and he has absolutely no plans whatsoever. It's wonderful.
However, he's not meant to stay unburdened for long, it seems. It's Nero who calls out the warning, but even as the ghost-type closes in, he sees no reason to flinch. It's when it begins constricting him that he realizes his mistake.
That's what his trusted sidekick is for, isn't it? The Murkrow certainly thinks so. August is barely getting out a slightly strained "Is something bothering you?" as Nero hones in on the Drifloon with a defensive peck attack.
Where was Jack? Amelia sure as hell didn't know where the boy had run off to. First he had the audacity to try and leave her behind in Goldenrod City while he ran off to the Hoenn region, and then once they got there, poof! He was gone. Whatever. They received their Pokemon from Professor Birch and then he was gone. Leaving her behind once again like he always did. Amelia should be used to it by now, after years of the same treatment, but it still managed to make her angry. Once she found him, she'd--she didn't know what she would do, but he wouldn't just get away with it. Jack couldn't just leave her lost and alone in a foreign region.
Well, maybe she wasn't completely alone. Her new friend. Partner. Whatever it was they were called. Amelia released the Pokemon from her ball. The sheep let out a bah, yawning and stretching out her limbs. The girl hadn't really known what to expect when receiving her first Pokemon, but she wasn't expecting this cute ball of fluff. That didn't mean she was disappointed. Mareep was going to be her companion from this point on; she was lucky to have such a darling partner.
In her quest to find Jack, Amelia had began venturing towards the next city; the girl figured the boy wouldn't want to waste any time Littleroot Town. It wasn't long before she saw a man wrapped up in the strings of some purple balloon Pokemon. Amelia wasn't too sure what the thing was, but she needed to help. The little bird wouldn't be able to do it alone. "Iris," she paused. How exactly did this work again? Right, call out a move. " ...use...uh...thunder wave?" The sheep charged forward, electric waves flowing from its body towards the balloon Pokemon.
the peck tears drifloon away from the trainer. soon after drifloon's body is shocked, rendering it slow. ouch, that hurts! she didn't want to end up like this. drifloon turns and tries to float away - she didn't want to deal with these bad people!

the worst case scenario is you
Everything seems to happen rather quickly, doesn't it? He certainly hadn't ordered his Murkrow to attack, but attack he has. And on top of that, there's a girl here now too. Another trainer? She orders her Mareep on the Drifloon, and he's glad the thing has let go before that electric move could hit him, too.
But... Hmm. It's running away? Augustus hangs by, wondering what he ought to do, but Nero has very different ideas.
Ner--" He drops off, because there's little point in finishing. The feisty bird is already on the Drifloon's tail with (ironically) a pursuit. There's little for him to do but sit by, then, and watch.
And perhaps start some real conversation. His blue eyes flicker over to the blonde girl, and he gives her a small nod. "New trainer?" Her stammering had given it away, but there's no shame in it. In fact, he rather envies her.

Amelia flinched as the electric pulses hit Drifloon. She was lucky that the balloon Pokemon had released the man before the attack landed. The thought hadn't even crossed her mind that she might have injured him as well. It could have been a very problematic situation. Luckily, she didn't have to worry about what could have been.
The Murkrow chased down purple balloon, pursuing the Pokemon, not letting her escape. Mareep, on the other hand, pranced back to her side; it seemed like the man had this under control, even if he wasn't giving his Pokemon commands. She would let him handle it, and instead focus on the question at hand.
Her bottom lip jutted out in a pout as she focused in on him. "Is it that easy to tell?" Amelia decided that her uncertainty from before most likely gave her away. Most experienced trainers wouldn't hesitate like she had. With time and practice, the girl would learn what it was all about. For now she was stuck with that novice air clinging to her skin. "Yeah, I'm new."
the murkrow's pursuit manages to damage her enough to fall. she deflates, falling to the ground in a heap. before she blacks out she sees the humans one last time. she just hopes that they were nice.
drifloon fainted ! capture? murkrow and mareep gain 2 levels
Nero's diligence seems to do the trick, he notes absentmindedly, the Drifloon drifting toward the path out of the corner of his eye. Hmm, convenient. August slips an empty Pokeball out of his bag and tosses it at the fainted Pokemon. One, two, three little quivers, and it goes still.
A small smile crosses his face. He feels confident, now -- the Drifloon will be a perfect addition to his team. Just his type, huh? Call it the Rocket blood in him. Some things you can't outrun, it seems.
Ah, well. The male pockets the pokeball again and returns his attention to the girl. "It's not a bad thing," he offers, and hums to himself in some sort of self-approval. "I envy you. Must be nice starting out with a clean slate." He's never been one to mingle, but this girl seems perfectly harmless. "Where do you come from?"
Amelia watched the other trainer's every move. The ball was tossed at the fallen Pokemon. It shook three times before going still. Was that all there was to it? It didn't seem very difficult, at all. Amelia could easily do that on her own no doubt. As he slips the ball into his pocket, the girl can't help but envy the captured Pokemon. It was cute, something that would have done really well on her team. If only she had ran into the Pokemon before the boy did, it could belong to her. Wild Pokemon were fair game, though, and she was no thief. It was his. There was no use pining over a missed chance.
Of course starting fresh was nice, but it was difficult, all the same. Being alone in a place she had never been before was scary. Everything was new, different. It was nice, but that didn't make it any less terrifying. "I'm from Goldenrod City. It's in the Johto Region. It's pretty far away. How about you?"
