hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

croagunk stood idle as he was surrounded by a splash of inky darkness. afterward, the bubble followed. the cloud eventually faded to reveal the creature in its original posture, a small smile slipping onto his face as he glanced at the horsea. that did nothing more than boost his own health. he was a creature whom thrived when dealing against water-type moves, after all.
the wild croagrunk was hit by smokescreen! the wild croakgunk accuracy has lowered! the wild croakgunk was hit by bubble! dry skin ability activated! the wild croakgunk's health was restored!
Zara and Rava exchanged worried glances when nothing seemed to happen to the opposing pokemon. At the same time, he didn't seem interested in attacking back, but as a matter of policy, Zara was now determined in having it beaten.
"Fine," she said simply, pulling out another pokeball and tossing it out to reveal her Stunky, the little dark type she had received for being part of Team Aqua. The skunk let out a low groal at the croagunk, and Zara let Rava bounce back a little bit. She wouldn't be much help here.
"Roly, use Scratch, and Scratch again!"
The Stunky growled again before rushing forward, a stripey blur, aiming for the little toad-like pokemon with claws outstretched. [ OOC ]YOYO! (healthy) scratch, scratch

that scratch hurt. so, he decided to dodge the next strike made against him. the stunky was quick, but the poison-type was renown for his own speed.
"cro!"
with a small shout, he dug into the surrounding dirt, the earth growing wet and muddy before being slung at the poison-type. this was followed by another, the creature's signature grin only widening as he took immense pleasure in the task.
the wild croagunk was hit by scratch! the wild croakgunk dodged scratch! (1/2) the wild croagunk used mud-slap! the wild croagunk used mud-slap!
The first mud-slap that came flying out from the smokescreen missed, thanks to Roly falling over out of the way and the Croagunk's loss of accuracy. The second one, however, hit true, and the skunk let out a sad cry and staggered sideways. Zara stared at it in shock. It did more damage than it seemed like it should have - it must have been super-effective.
"Shit," she muttered, biting her lip and staring at the Croagunk in frustration as it did nothing but grin back.
"Roly - try focus energy, then scratch!"
It was a last shot, basically; if the Stunky was hit again by that same attack, he would most likely need a potion right away just to keep being able to battle.
Nonetheless, the brave little skunk pumped itself up, fur flaring, sharp claws glinting in the sunlight, and then rushed forward with another scratch. [ OOC ]YOYO! (injured) focus energy, scratch
once a gleam entered his eye it became obvious that the poison-type refused to make this easy. with a sharp croak, he hurried to dodge the precise scratch that would have likely chipped away at the remainder of his health.
"croak!"
he once again began slinging mud in quick succession, eager to show the skunk and his human that this would not make for a quick battle. he could handle a bit more before going down, after all.

The Croagunk was fast. Zara gasped a bit as it jumped out of the way of the scratch, slinging mud back. Roly staggered backwards, seriously injured, and the girl hastily pulled a potion from her bag and crouched down, spraying it on the little skunk to help him heal.
"Alright Roly - try your poison gas, and then run in with another scratch," she decided, making a mental note that if the Croagunk wasn't at least faltering after that, she'd pick up the skunk and run into town. It sounded a little embarrassing, so she was hopeful that the new strategy might have some effect.
The skunk, feeling better than before, fired off a poison gas at the Croagunk and then followed it quickly, growling again as it tried to catch the toad with his claws. [ OOC ]YOYO! (moderately healthy) poison gas, scratch
the fighting-type merely inhaled the gasses, finding them positively delectable. he continued to smile at the human, but, unfortunately, the following strike had hit him too hard for even him to withstand.
"cro!"
with a sharp cry, he fell to his side, clutching at his middle as he writhed for a brief period of time before finally going still as he lost consciousness.
the wild croagunk was hit by poison gas! it failed to do anything! the wild croagunk was hit by scratch! it was a critical hit! the wild croagunk has fainted! roly has gained a level! capture?
It finally fainted. The poison gas seemed to do nothing, and so she concluded that it must have at least been partly a poison type, though... couldn't they sti l<3 get poisoned? Resistance must have stopped it, but either way, the battle was done, and it was a relief.
Zara and Roly exchanged exhausted glances, and it was only then that the girl realised her heart rate had gone straight up. Her first two wild encounters had been relatively straightforward; clearly that wasn't always the case. Past Oldale, they'd have to be more careful.
Training four Pokemon was enough work, so she bypassed the Croagunk and headed straight for Oldale instead, looking forwards to a bit of a rest before hitting the road again. [ OOC ] thank youYOYO! <3
