lopunny had remained tense during the duration of the battle. but she only froze when she realized just how outmatched her mate truly was. as soon as she spotted a thin spray of red, she moved to scoop up her son, a panicked expression on her face.
the normal-type pressed him to her chest despite his wriggling, squeezing her own eyes shut as she trembled.
sneasel tried to turn his head in order to take in the sight, his features revealing his shock at his father's defeat. the young pokemon blinked in confusion, quickly realizing that his mother was terribly shaken. he hadn't seen much, but as he turned his head, his mouth fell open - a look of shock contorting his features.
the bunnelby had gone utterly limp. the shock of the fire fang had come first, and despite the singed fur and burnt flesh - he would have remained alert and alive. but, the ice fang had only dug deeper. a noise akin to a pained shriek escaped him. his body flailed as he realized that something had been punctured. bone had gone brittle due to the icy tendrils that had caused his flesh to grow too cold too quickly.
a look of shock had been given the chance to form before his eyes fell shut - he released a small sigh - and he gave into a cloying darkness that surged forth. his last thought was of his mate and his son - and he hoped they would remain safe.
The Gliscor heard his trainer's cries. If he would've put any more pressure on the Bunnelby in his jaws, he would've possibly snapped the poor thing in half. With a grunt, he walked over towards Basil, opened his mouth and in turn dropped the partial normal-type into his arms. Panicked, Basil looked around, not knowing what to do initially. Oh no, this was going to be a repeat of the cave exploration; another Pokemon was going to die, and it was going to be all his fault! "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" he nearly hollered, dark eyes fixated on the Lopunny and Sneasel. "I -- I think we can save him! We can save him! Hold on!" Hurriedly, the newbie trainer rested the Bunnelby against the ground. He slung his backpack off of his shoulders, practically ripped it open, furiously dug through its contents before pulling out a small container of medicine. It was a Potion, and while it wasn't the strongest type of medicine available for public purchase, it was still something.
He was no Pokemon doctor, but Basil would have to make due. Carefully but quickly, he began spraying the Bunnelby over, targeting the most severe injuries first before moving on towards the least life-threatening ones. Scar watched as Basil worked, a frighteningly cold look in his massive, yellow eyes. "C-Come on, we can head towards the Pokemon center in Dewford!" With that, Basil attempted to scoop the Bunnelby up into his arms, eyes still wide. "P-Please come with me, you two." he asked Lopunny and Sneasel. "We can still save him. I know we can."
Even if they couldn't, Basil wasn't going to stop until he exhausted every possible option.
lopunny released a soft murmur, peering up at the human's panicked eyes. realizing that it would be best to calm him in such a terrible situation, she gingerly moved to cup his face with a soft paw.
"lo..."
she requested that he took a moment to breathe. the normal-type had incredible hearing, and could detect that her mate was still clinging onto life. his body was struggling to maintain itself despite the icy spread that had been abruptly halted by the potion's healing agents.
"lopunny."
she made a few motions, attempting to pass on a message of some kind that the human would understand. transporting the bunnelby out in the opening would be a poor choice. so the female made a circular motion - a capsule - and gestured to the limp ground-type.
the sneasel peered up at the human, noticing that he was truly frightened. his mother spoke, and he understood what she intended to do. he did not mind, merely desiring that all would be well in the end. if there was a chance to fix this, then it would be best to go along with his mother's plans. she was intelligent, and willing to see reason above all else.
the potion spread through, its healing agents seeping into damaged tissue and repairing the portions of flesh that needed immediate healing. he still clung on, but it would be best to take him away from the wilds immediately.
He stopped once he felt a paw touch his face. The Lopunny was now in front of him, comforting him with a single, soft-spoken word. Sighing, Basil looked down at the Bunnelby; the Potion was doing its work, but he wasn't certain if the partial ground-type was still alive or not. Judging from how calm the Lopunny was, the Bunnelby still had to be alive, even if he was teetering dangerously on the brink of death.
While the Lopunny spoke to Basil, Scar listened quietly. He had a neutral look on his face, different from the cold, indifferent stare he gave his once-opponent. Bunnelby was the one who wanted a fight, not the other way around. At first, Basil had no clue what the fully evolved Hoenn Pokemon was trying to say. Then, after deciphering her gestures, his eyebrows lifted. "You want to go with me?" he muttered, absolutely startled. Scar growled and nudged his trainer with a massive pincer, urging him to hurry up and take the family along already. The Bunnelby wasn't going to be able to hold forever. Nodding furiously, Basil dug into his backpack, retrieved a vacant Pokeball and tapped it against the unconscious Kalos Pokemon. Bunnelby got sucked up inside in a flash of crimson light before the Pokeball sealed shut. With a respectful nod, Basil gestured for Lopunny, Sneasel and Gliscor to follow him.
"... C'mon. Let's hurry to the Pokemon Center." YOYO!
she smiled as he calmed and saw reason. her mate was safely tucked away, and they were allowed to tag along so that they could stay with him. the human's kindness, his genuine show of both concern and sympathy - and his willingness to aid the small family had quickly won of her over. the normal-type lifted her son gingerly into her arms and went along.

the pokemon rested his head against the flatness as he was lifted. he would require a moment in order to properly recover from the shock, but, knowing that his father would be tended to comforted the wild creature. his eyes fluttered shut, and he released a sigh.

bunnelby had not moved so the capture had been simple. the capsule did its job, preventing his injuries from worsening as he was transported within the warm insides of the capsule.
trainer basil has successfully captured a bunnelby!
