[attr="class","colorful1"] She had never expected to convince her younger brother to join her on a new adventure away from their home in Kalos, or rather their parents to drag their son out on another one of her wild schemes. After she had failed once and returned home she’d expected a much bigger argument, one of which she envisioned herself standing at the front of the kitchen table, PowerPoint in hand with all the reasons and benefits of going off again to achieve her dreams. She had even started the presentation on her computer three weeks into her stay home, only to abandon the idea for much more exciting endeavors of becoming a first class coordinator. Luckily, she had given up on the right thing -- and once they had been given the thumbs up by the folks, all she had to do was grab her little brother by the arm.
He was the most trouble in her eyes, but alas they had made it, entered the professor's lab before departing with their new starter in hand. She had directed them to enter the first route on the map, figured they’d find some sort of action during their travel through it, and if not they’d enter a whole new town (at least, according to the map in her hand). “Isn’t this exciting!” she cheered, raising her hands into the air as she bounced ahead of her sibling with a turn in her last step. Her eyes were wide, staring at the greenery of a region she’d never visited before, the adrenaline of a new adventure coursing through her veins. “Even you have to feel something, right Nori? Aren’t you happy I took you away from work to do this?” she questioned, her gaze falling to the green haired boy behind her, and before he can answer she laughs, too excited to contain anything. “Isn’t this amazing! It’s like being a kid all over again!”

there was too much nature and trees and just about everything else outside that was willing to kill them out here. whatever comfort he had with his simple life of working and going home to relax was pushed out the door when his sister decided to show up and kidnap him. yes he considered it kidnapping because he did not wish to go and she forced him here to his unknown region surrounded by water, water, and more water. he was out of his zone; had been ever since she pulled him out the door of their childhood home and refused to look back. but he had looked back plenty of times. he had looked back until the house was out of view and then kept looking. every so often (every five or so minutes to be exact) he would speak up and ask his older sister when they could go home. the question was sometimes ignored or given the same answer that would calm his nerves for 2.5 seconds.
but sadly his nerves were not calmed and he was once again being dragged somewhere that he didn't want to go. nori watched his older sister turn around and cheer excitedly about being away from home again and how happy he should be. all he was aware of was the dirt stains on his pants from tripping over a stray branch and leaves in places that leaves shouldn't be. there were smears on his lenses and all he wanted to do was sleep. "uh..." he began and looked down at the ground with a sigh. he didn't want to ruin his sister's excitement with more of his complaining. "i guess?" his hands fidgeted with the material on his pants trying desperately to wipe off the dirt that gathered there. "where are we headed exactly? hopefully an inn...or pokemon center...any place with a bed..." he trailed off and turned to look at the excited girl in hopes that she would take the hint.
[attr="class","colorful1"] It reminded her of the first moment she stepped out the door of their childhood home, during a time when her parents no longer could tell her what not to do. That sense of freedom had hit her like a ton of bricks, stumbling her steps deep into a region she never saw -- and it awakened butterflies. Hundreds of winged nerves fluttering about in her gut. It was a rush she couldn’t get enough of, left her wide eyed and staring straight into the headlights of an ongoing truck and to bring her into the next world; and there was no fear. No -- there had never been fear, only mystical clarity; like she could see miles ahead of where she stood as the world itself laid its walls down just for it.
She felt empowered, as though she could do anything she set her mind to; as if those childhood lies that she could become the president or an astronaut were all a truth hiding much stronger meaning. Her smile held strong for the majority of the moment as she heard her brother begin to speak, and only for a second did it falter ever so slightly. Noris’ complaints and unwillingness to accept their new adventure as what it is wasn’t going to dampen her rush. She wanted to have him feel what she felt, see what she did. “It’s not I guess Nori, you should be excited! You’re in a whole new region, one without mom and dad hounding you. You can do anything here!” she started, ignoring the following question of where they were headed and the not-so subtle hints the boy was giving her.
Her footing stopped, directing her movement forward until she stood right in-front of her brother, and with a quick movement her hands slapped themselves against his cheeks, scrunching his face in the process. “This is expose therapy for you to get out of your shell and meet people Nori! Not just sit around at home and go to work at that shabby bookstore like you used to.” she stated, pressing her hands against the boys face a little more, “don’t you feel something from this? Something like excitement? Genuine, raw, no holds back excitement?” She was reaching, but she wanted her brother to know the feeling she had -- because she believed once he did (once he accepted it) he’d be as eager to adventure here as herself.

he could do anything? did that include going home? that's what he wanted to say but he kept silent. he sighed as he looked down as the worrying thoughts came again. there were far from home, stuck in a completely new region with no support other than themselves. their parents were a call away but he was almost certain his sister did not want to contact them any time soon.
he paused and looked down at his sister, his nervousness coming up two-fold with the look in her eyes. she only got like this when she was about to- "ow." nori flinched when her hands landed on his cheeks and scrunched his face up. he winced and tried to listen to her words, he really did, but with each press of her hands that made his face scrunch up even tighter with pain he couldn't help but try to get away. he didn't understand her excitement. all he could focus on was how they had nowhere to stay, what they were going to eat tonight, and how they were going to make a living off of just pokemon battles. it all sounded ridiculous in his mind and did nothing to help his nerves about the impending future. he would take the shabby bookstore over this journey any day.
but he didn't want to trouble his sister with his worries and she seemed to happy to be out in the world again. somehow she managed to survive the first time she went on a journey so maybe it would be okay. "i feel something... pain being one of them." he mumbled and tried to get his face out of her grasp. "how does"journeying" work again? if i'm going to feel something i might as well try to get the hang of this." he was there for the long run whether he liked it or not.
[attr="class","colorful1"] It reminded her of the first moment she stepped out the door of their childhood home, during a time when her parents If she can get anything out of this adventure she’d want two things; only two. She’s selfish in the way she includes one more wish, one more hope; one more of everything life has to offer her because she refuses to have the first gift be the end. Her first is for herself, for her new life as a coordinator to come as true -- as amazing, casted in the light of the stage and people cheering her name as she envisions it. She wants the recognition of these strangers in this region, of her friends and family back in Kalos, of herself who, after the first attempt, felt too unsure; too insecure in her room the first night she returned home empty handed. It’s hard leaving with high hopes and dreams, only to watch them crash down around you due to your own careless misguidance and ignorance; and even harder to put on a brave face at the front door of a home you left so high and mighty.
The second is for her brother, that he might see the world as she does or (better yet) in a way that’s all his own and not warped in worry and bad habits of solitude. Shes’ seen the world, just enough for this excitement to carry her feet like feathers through the grass, and she knows of its beauty despite just scraping the surface. It’s of good and bad, as eager to show you the road to your dreams as it is to guide you right off. Shes’ been through both, like a fighter ready for just one more round; and she knows her brother has it in him too. If he just let his guard down, dropped the walls that hid the view, he’d be able to see what she did -- enjoy this adventure of a lifetime with as much (or maybe more) happiness than he’d even know was in him -- and silently, she knows she’d give up her first wish for this.
She’s expecting more than the answer he gives to her question, but it pulls at the strings of her already quirked lips all the same. There’s no more effort left to contain the quick laugh that comes from her lips towards his answer, nor are there any to contain herself from smiling wider than before. She wasn’t anticipating a question about journeying, or at least not how it “worked” per say -- and while it was strange she accepted it for all it was worth, which for her was his first baby step in enjoying himself. Her hands leave the squirming boys face, easing the pain from his cheeks before slamming a clenched fist against his left forearm; she wasn’t trying to hurt him (and hopefully she hadn’t) but with her excitement there was no telling how much strength she put into that.
“That’s the spirit!” she exclaimed, feeling her knuckles skid against the boys arm until there was no friction left -- and her eyes danced with joy, hiding the confusion as she attempted to find the answer to the question. “Well… first you just, let go.” she began, “you’re alone, sorta. You have me, but I’m not going to stop you from doing whatever you want. Unless it’s something stupid, but you’re smart.” She can feel herself begin to ramble as her mind continues to sort through her feeling of now for the emotions felt when she first left home to become someone. It’s a second of silence, a moment she hopes her brother will ignore -- because she doesn’t want to lose this chance to sell this adventure for what it is. “You just go. Other than common sense there’s no rules. If you want to stay up late and sleep under the stars, you do it. If you want to go to a beach, you find one -- and with all the water we saw during our trip over here this region has to be a million of them.” she added, knowing she could have done better at this pitch if she had been given some time; but that wasn’t the case, so she continued, ran with whatever she could find. “It’s just a day by day thing Nori. You let go of all that worry and just live.” she said, looking up at her brother with a wistful look. “Does… that make any sense?”

he wasn't expecting the punch on his arm when judith finally let go of him but he should have. his sister didn't realize her own strength when she was this excited. the pain flared up his arm quickly as he stumbled forward from the hit. quickly raising his other hand to rub at the spot, he looked over and sighed at her. she was still obviously estatic that he finally "agreed" to attempt to have fun. it wasn't that he wasn't having fun. there were just other concerns that hindered him from having the full experience so to speak.
nori stood up again and continued to rub at his arm as he listened to the explanation. he wasn't too thrilled with the idea of being on their own withno rules to guide them on how to do this right. what if they failed and ended up screwing everything up? he didn't like to think that he was smart only that he listened to others and followed the rules that were given to him. being out here with only their wits and instincts to guide them was unnerving. it wasn't like in all the books he read where the protagonist ended up on their own but turned out alright in the end through sheer willpower and friendship. this was the real world and one wrong move could be the end.
"oh." he mumbled while looking out toward the path they were traveling on. he wasn't good at day by day things. he liked to know what was in front of him. yet this journey they were on would be filled with unknown factors and things he wouldn't be able to predict. it wasn't a book where he could guess all the cliches and figure out what would happen in the end. and because of that is why he was so hesitant. "i guess it does." he answered with a small smile to show that he was a little excited about starting; at least to relieve her worries about him. "so you're the gandalf to my bilbo baggins right?"

JUDITH FERRIS i need to make more book references. also pls dont text wall me ;~;
[attr="class","colorful1"] She needs to get better at many things. At sticking to plans, forming realistic dreams -- listening when others speak, keeping things to herself -- and most recently, giving what should be motivational speeches to her brother. There had been moments when she could talk for hours on her point, bring up things people never would have thought without her guidance; and then there were times like this. Ones where she was at a loss for words, where her thoughts ran one hundred miles a minute and all she could do was grasp at whatever happened to be flying by and hope for the best. Sadly what she had caught onto this time around hadn’t been too helpful but she hoped the message -- or at least what was left of it -- would stick just enough for the boy to ease into the idea of travel and adventure. It was strange, knowing that when she was his age all she wanted was to leave and see the world; but sadly it had skipped his generation.
When her friendly punch lands on the boys arm she watches his body stumble upon impact, a worried expression etching into her features before fading as he straightens himself up again. Now she laughs, softly against a covered mouth and a creeping smile -- and as it fades she mutters a quick “I’m sorry” against another small set of laughter. It’s only when her brother shoots a reference to something she doesn’t understand that her smile drops just a bit, enough to ease the pressure off her cheeks and lower her hand to her side again. Her everything -- the way her brow wrinkles, her lips murmur the names (or what she assumes are so) twice over under her breath -- shouts her confusion to the world.
Was it from a book or a movie? Or maybe it was some weird internet thing that went around… Judith didn’t have a clue and as she stared at her younger brother her eyes narrowed just a little in amusement. “You’re such a loser.” she smiled, pushing down a quick temptation to hit the boy in the arm once more over for good luck. “You know damn well I don’t get those weird references. For all I know you could have just insulted me.” There’s an unsettling amount of innocence in the way she words her final sentence, a smile spreading her lips as she stares at her brother with a look that just spells trouble. “Now, you wouldn’t insult your dear sister right Nori? Cause then I might have to punch you again, and that’d hurt me a little more than it’d hurt you.”

nori knew the moment he had made the reference, his sister would be lost. he couldn't help it. he grew up reading books and getting lost in the world of heroes and fairytales. they were a part of his life now. he said things people didn't understand and he got weird look in return. honestly he was used to it now as sad as that was...
he reached up and rubbed the back of his neck and tried to avoid his sister' gaze. yeah it was still embarrassing each time someone stared at him like he had lost it. but he would admit that confusing others did make it a little funny. nori smiled a little as judith called him out on using names she didn't understand. he wasn't insulting her at all. gandalf was a great character and it was because of him that bilbo had left the shire and changed for the better. he liked to think of it that way, that this was what would happen in the end of their journey when judith became an expert coordinator and he became...something. maybe in the end he will break out of his shell and appreciate the journey he went on.
"i didn't insult you." a hand rose to block the area that judith punched before in the chance she targeted it again. no he did not want another punch thank you very much. "a-anyway let's go. maybe we can get to odale town before nightfall." he quickly began walking down the path faster, hoping his sister decided not to punch him anyway.
