Rustboro City was a place full of memories for Sylvester, but on this occasion he didn't come back to soak in his past ventures. Instead, the aspiring trainer was eyeing the many stands that vendors had set up, as today was the weekly pokemon market. All things pokemon, from rare candies to TMs were being sold by vendors to make their living. For trainers, it was a great opportunity to help reinforce the tenacity of their pokemon.
As he walked the streets, he was looking specifically for a TM stand. He wanted something to teach his pokemon, that would make them stronger. Noticing a stand with a quiet blonde-haired male sitting behind it, he approached with a soft "Hey there. For sale, right?" Here was hoping he had come to the right vendor stand.

what we know is almost nothing at all
In short, Kristmar was in need of some quick cash. Travelling with a full team meant a lot of hungry mouths to feed and each one cost money. And, as for the ones he planned to put through contests, it wasn't like he'd feed them just any old grub either. A poor diet was easily visible through a pokémon's coat, teeth and energy... something that a coordinator really couldn't permit.
For that reason Kris had decided to give the market at Rustboro a try. He had his simple table, covered with an equally simple cloth, laid out in front of him with his wares on show. He had three TMs out on display, all ones he was willing to teach for a price. Patiently, he wanted for passing strangers to take an interest as he quietly messaged away on his pokénav. It was rather boring and tedious sitting here in the sun, his glameow sat on his feet snoozing, but if it earned money... who was he to complain?
Oh? A customer?
A voice made Kris' head snap up from his pokénav and he hastily tucked the strands of hair that escaped his loose ponytail behind his ears. Sören blinked open a wary eye from uder the table at the stranger who interrupted his light dozing and huddled his scruffy body closer to his trainer's legs with a flick of his tail.
"The actual TMs aren't but I'm selling single uses of them for cheaper," he told the man after giving him a quick and casual once-over. Kris gestured at the three discs with his hand, sitting straighter in his chair. "I've got... Earthquake and Dazzling Gleam for four each and Fire Blast for five."

"Oh really? Let me check something real quick..." Searching through his device, Sylvester came across the move 'Dazzling Gleam'. This was an interesting Fairy Type move, that was for sure. He had to have it. Reaching in towards his pokeball, Sylvester released his starter pokemon—Marley the Sylveon.
"I would have you teach my Sylveon Dazzling Gleam. Deal?" He grabebd the pokemon at his feet, bringing him up on the table for the vendor to observe. "Fairy type move for the fairy type, can't go wrong there, right?" He said with a soft chuckle, just to try and break the ice between them.
"I'm Sylvester, by the way. What's your name?" Someone who sold TMs was a useful resource to a trainer, like Sylvester. Befriending him was a good choice, and failure to make good on such an opportunity would be disheartening. He had to get to know more about the vendor.

A sylveon?
Kristmar's wine red eyes widened visibly as the pastel pink creature was hoisted up onto his table. He allowed himself to openly marvel over the rare fairy type and take in his sleek yet powerful form, having never actually seen one in person before. From what he understood, they were a great pokémon to have, very contest worthy but weren't only revered for their looks; they were real dragon slayers too if they were put up against one.
"Deal!" He breathed out, his gaze finally travelling back to the fairy type's trainer. "Dazzling Gleam is a perfect move for this kind. He's a really nice pokémon... sorry, I just haven't seen one before. Not in person, at least." In contest programmes on the television, at most.
The blonde got up off his seat (earning him a disgruntled mrowl from his glameow as he was moved) and picked up a pinkish disc up off the table. A little wary of how the pokémon would take to a stranger approaching him with something as peculiar as a technical machine, Kris faltered a little and gave the creature's soft pelt a tentative brush on his shoulder with the back of his fingers as the male customer introduced himself as Sylvester. Sylvester and sylveon... had that been intentional?
"I'm Kristmar. Nice to meet you." He replied, polite, and lightly pressed the sleeved disc against the pokémon's shoulder. It began to vibrate in his hands as the disc started to whir and spin. "A slyveon, eh? Some people would kill for a pokémon this nice... are you perhaps a coordinator?"

"Well, it just so happens I am not that easy to kill." His tone suggested he was both taken back by what, but also ready for such a challenge. Watching the man using his device, Sylvester pet the Sylveon and kept him there, assuring him that nothing was wrong with what was going on. Even still, Marley's ears fell and his eyes closed in a timid manner when the disc began to rotate. "Don't worry Marley, you'll be fine I promise." The pokemon nodded slightly before resuming their still posture.
Looking towards the blonde, he answered their question. "Nope, I am just a pokemon trainer. I lucked out, and when Marley evolved it was actually quite the surprise." Looking towards the rotating disc once more, it was a rather curious process to him as he observed it. 'This really teaches a pokemon a new move? How...odd.' Awaiting the results, he simply kept petting Marley, scratching behind his ears to try and make him more comfortable.

what we know is almost nothing at all
All Kristmar could really do in reply to his comment on not being easy to kill... was chuckle light-heartedly at the protective vibe he picked up. The sound quietened though when the sylveon appeared to get a little restless, although he was quickly soothed by his trainer. Teaching pokémon through technical machines was an unnatural way of having them learn new moves and, as a result, not all pokémon reacted as calmly as this one was doing. Kris honestly wasn't sure how they actually worked but... it was something like wiring the mechanics behind the move into the pokémon, right?
"It's alright, this doesn't hurt," he murmured, likely to the both of them, as the disc's spinned sped up so that it was just a blur as it spun in the sleeve. "I taught my ralts this same move and she said it only tickled." Followed by a sensation of deep clarity as information regarding the move almost overwhelmed her in one sudden wave.
"Ah... I thought you might've been a coordinator like me with this pokémon--" the technical machine made a clicking noise and began to slow down, the process ending almost as quickly as it started, "--and now this move. It's a very appealing combination." Once the disc, now warm in his hands, stilled completely, Kris gave the sylveon's shoulder another gentle stroke once he pulled the TM away. "That'll be four pokédollars then although... it probably goes without sayin that you should practise this move first before using it in battle." He gave a small shrug and placed the item back on the table. "Just in case, y'know?"

Fortunately the Sylveon remained still, and for a time he began to grow more comfortable, perhaps realizing what was going on. Gently playing with Marley's ears thoroughly one more time, he watched as Kristmar finally finished the process. "Huh...took less time than I expected." But that was actually a good thing, was it not?
"Sure thing, I'll make sure to go test it out in the wild. Not against any pokemon." Reaching into his coat, Sylvester found his wallet, which was filled with a fair amount of money. Pulling out four pokedollars, he handed it to Kristmar before returning Marley to his pokeball. "Thanks, Kristmar. If I ever need another TM, I'll be looking around for ya." Sliding his wallet back in place, he turned around, throwing a wave up into the air as he walked away. "I hope business is good until then." He then faded into the distance.

what we know is almost nothing at all
Yes, the process of using a technical machine was a very quick one, thankfully, but that was probably because it was only the easy part. The harder part was getting the pokémon to adeptly execute the move although Kristmar supposed that stronger pokémon, who were more experienced in general, fared much better and learned quicker. This slyveon, as obedient as he seemed, likely wouldn't have much trouble
Kris took the money handed to him with a murmur of gratitude before pocketing the notes, satisfied, and watched as the fairy type was returned to his ball.
"It was nice doin' business with you, come again soon." Kristmar chimed lightly as he gave a small wave, steadily lowering himself back into his seat. "I'm easy enough to find on the pokénav if you're ever in need of another teaching. Take care." Sylvester and his pokémon had been a nice pair to encounter; the well-behaved sylveon had been lovely and the trainer had been pleasant and had put up no qualms when he'd paid. Kris wouldn't mind coming across them again one day in the future if they were ever in need of his services again.
