At the time Syndra had been training in Rustboro when she had gotten the message. Once glance at the sender was enough to tell the green haired female what it was about. Rushing into the pokemon center and reorganizing her team, Syndra prepared to go meet the boy who she had made a promise to. Of course that meant traveling backwards towards Petalburg but the female trainer did not mind in the slightest as she traveled back to the familiar city. Since she had attained new pokemon since she met him the first time she was eager to let his energetic spirit rub off on the rest of her pokemon as they took the time to explore route 104.
That was the promise that the female trainer made to the younger male. Arriving, she shot a message back to Seth telling him to meet her at the entrance to route 104. By her side was Vulpix jumping around with excitement to see her playmate again after hearing what the plans were for the day. Leaning against a nearby tree, the green haired girl looked up into the sky as she waited.
[ SETH ] 'hey, petalburg, right?' It had been a quick message, but it appeared to be enough for Syndra to understand. Seth received a hastened message shortly after. He had only gotten to Petalburg the night before, guided by another new friend. Wanting to wait until he could spend the day with Syndra, Seth had rested and sent her the message as soon as he woke up the next morning. Seth would explore with her and maybe even reach the next city, but he wanted to try to get to the Pokemon gym today, too.
Since she was a bit ahead of him, Seth decided to check out that gym while he waited. A couple hours later and he got another message from his friend. Perking up from earlier anxiety, Seth ran to the other side of town to meet Syndra. As soon as he saw her, he called out her name. Unfortunately, he wasn't paying much attention to where he was going and got a bit clumsy. Tumbling onto the grass at the start of the route was quite an embarrassing thing for Seth. Hopefully his friend wouldn't mock him too harshly for it. Knowing the two of them, their time would be too filled with showing off new Pokemon for it to be an issue.
Hearing her name being called out the young woman pushed herself off the tree to turn to the direction of the words. Seeing Seth again put a smile on her face as he looked as spirited as ever. He had made it to Petalburg and she was happy that he seemed to be in good health. The male really had reminded Syndra of her brothers, even up to the point where he tumbled over. Reactively her jaw dropped at the sight and her left hand moved to cover her gaping mouth. Once she realized what had happened she hurried over to his side, kneeling to see if he was injured. "Are you okay?" she asked with a tone of worry. Maybe she shouldn't have been so concerned but who wouldn't be when seeing a friend topple over? At least he had fallen on the grass instead of a hard surface.
Vulpix had done the same and dashed over next to the fallen male. Whimpering the fox walked over carefully and began licking at Seth's face to spur him back to life. The reaction of the fire type was warming to the female trainer as she further tried to sweeten the pot in case Seth was too embarrassed from that tumble to get up. "Aren't you gonna show me your new friends?"
[ SETH ] "I'm mmkay." The mumbled response was muffled by the ground, but still audible. Seth did not want to get up or even roll over yet because of the embarrassment. The second his friend was seeing him started off with him doing a faceplant. Stupid. How could he be that clumsy? Ugh.
Seth held up a pokeball and released something from it. It was done partly in hopes of distracting attention from him, but it was also most of the reason they were meeting up in the first place. "Check this one out." Still laying face-down in the grass, the words were muffled again. An Inkay had been sent out and now floated a couple feet away. It bobbed up and down in the air, looking on curiously. It seemed friendly enough, not that Seth would really know. He hadn't really even brought the Pokemon out since capturing it, the poor thing.
Once the Inkay had been out for a moment or two, Seth would roll over with a pained groan. He wasn't in any physical pain, but mortified at his fall still. He sat up and turned to look at the little group of Syndra plus Pokemon. He finally greeted the Vulpix with petting and ruffling her fur. "Caught her on Route 101." Seth's attention moved to the Inkay. He had seen the little thing battle, but then had just held in a pokeball. It hadn't really given him a chance to study it.
[ SUMMARY ] - Seth used Camouflage! - The move failed!
The response the female received didn't inspire much confidence in the answer as she stayed there wondering if he was actually going to get up. "Really?" she questioned skeptically. That position couldn't have been comfortable. Without moving out of the grass Syndra watched has his hand moved to show off the first new pokemon he had. He had succeeded in diverting the girl's eyes away as she focused on the floating squid. It was an interesting pokemon and one that she hadn't seen yet outside of textbooks which made her fairly intrigued. "Inkay. That's impressive," she stated as she extended her hand outwards to touch the strange pokemon. She paused however upon hearing the groan from Seth to which Vulpix hopped backwards as he rolled over.
The fox yipped in happiness as Seth finally pet her fur to which Syndra shook her head at. The spoiled pup. Thinking she should return the favor the female took one of the pokeballs from her belt and tossed it into the air. The ball opened mid fall and the contents spread into a brief showing of light. As the lights faded a floating one eyed ghost appeared. Immediately seeing the situation the Duskull floated behind Syndra who shook her head to him. "Come on Duskull. Go on and introduce yourself." The ghost faded from sight only to reappear in front of Seth a second later to heed his trainer's wishes. He did reappear extremely close to his face however in an effort to at least surprise him so he could have his own fun. "I found him in Rusturf tunnels. He's not used to the outside world so I'm trying to have him experience all sorts of new things."

FOR ALL THE AIR THAT'S IN YOUR LUNGS
FOR ALL THE JOY THAT IS TO COME

[ SETH ] Upon sitting up, Seth could feel that his hair had gotten messed up in the fall. He shook his head to right it, really just making it a different type of untidy. The Inkay continued bobbing in the air, getting closer to the new person, seeming curious and excited. It was making little bubbly and popping sounds from its mouth and would bop into Syndra not long after her attention strayed. It looked like the pair of trainers had some self-important Pokemon.
At the release of the Duskull, Seth immediately tried to see around his friend to not much avail. Having leaned forward upon its disappearance, Seth was surprised at the sudden reappearance right in front of his face. He made a startled sound and fell back, losing his balance. Without falling to the ground (this time) Seth managed to remain sitting up and giggled at the antics. He poked the Pokemon's face--its bone mask?--curiously. After staring at it with fascination for a moment, he pulled out his pokedex to scan it. While the machine spoke, a quiet whisper of "so cool" could be heard.
Once he had this latest Pokemon scanned, Seth shook his head to clear it and get focused again. "I got more, too!" His face lit up excitedly and two more pokeballs were immediately thrown out. The familiar Shinx popped out of one, and a Marill from the other. "I caught both these new guys on Route 101--though I evolved that Marill from something else!" Seth seemed almost as mesmerized by his own Pokemon as Syndra's. Through travelling and all the things that come with that, he hadn't had much time to just sit and study his Pokemon. Who knew how long it would be until he could? He ran through the areas he knew in his head, but hadn't heard of this tunnel. "Where's Rusturf?" There were just so many things Seth didn't know yet.
[ SUMMARY ] - Seth's Shinx was sent out! - Seth's Marill was sent out!
The reaction that Duskull got from the boy led to his maniacal cackling from the amusement it provided. The boy laughed as well so he saw no harm in allowing the other to do as he wished. He remained stationary as his face area had been touched though shook the red orb like eye from side to side in a creepy manner as if ticking down the time. Syndra on the other hand had her hands full with the floating squidlike pokemon, giggling as it bumped into her once her eyes traveled elsewhere. It reminded her of a certain other grandstanding pokemon that had now sat watching the other pokemon with her beaded eyes.
At the least now Seth was getting back into the swing of things with his enthusiasm rising by the second. Seeing the other two pokemon, a warm smile crossed Syndra's lips. She wasn't surprised that Seth made so many new friends and seeing his growth reminded her of the joy this journey was to bring. She took her right hand to pet the Inkay, expecting a relatively smooth feel on her fingertips. "Looks like you've been busy," she commented as her eyes looked over the electric type first. It had definitely grown. Vulpix took the opportunity once seeing the electric type to leap into a playful tackle for some fun which was to be expected.
Next up was the water type whose cuteness rivaled her own Spheal. It impressed the female that Seth had already managed to evolve one of his pokemon in such a short amount of time that he had traveled. She herself didn't manage to evolve any of her pokemon until much later in her journey after getting her first badge. "Ah, speaking of evolution..." she removed a few more pokeballs from her belt and threw them into the air. They all opened at the same time with the rays of dancing light parting to show Sandslash, shroomish, and abra. The ground type recognizing the boy gave a curt greeting but overall didn't do much else. "My Sandshrew evolved into a Sandslash not too long ago. Though she's getting to be more of a handful now.." Undoubtedly Sandslash when obeying orders were one of her strongest pokemon so having it evolved wasn't that surprising and she didn't mind showing her off to the eager trainer.
The tired looking psychic type sat there placidly as the Duskull took the time to float around the pokemon. He didn't seem to mind the ghost type ironically enough. Shroomish on the other hand was of doing his own thing as well. At the question Syndra paused and thought over the best way to describe the cavern. It wasn't anything too dangerous and it was a ways away before Seth would even have to go through it. "Rusturf Tunnel is what the locals call the tunnel that connect Rustboro City and Verdanturf Town. It's further up on route 116." She motioned ahead towards Rustboro as if to indicate it was in that direction or further off. "You don't have to worry about that for now. I think most travel to Slateport or Dewford after Rustboro anyway."
Flicking his tail slowly yet fluidly the Abra looked up to see the new trainer. He didn't exactly trust humans other than his own trainer but hadn't made a move yet. Noticing this the female shook her head slightly. "Sorry about him. The yellow one is my Abra. He's wary of strangers but he's a good pokemon. Got him on this exact route near the beach." The psychic type made a noise almost as if to comment further but it was in a synthesized tone with pokemon speak. Her jade eyes shifted to her other pokemon. "Shroomish was actually an abandoned pokemon. I adopted him once I learned that but I'm not sure what happened to his trainer."

[ SETH ] Seeing so many new Pokemon could easily be overwhelming for Seth. Initially, he simply stared open-mouthed at the fresh crowd. With the Sandslash being closest and most familiar, Seth went to it first. He ran his hand down its back, noticing how different it was, a soft "Woah," escaping him. Pokemon evolution was truly amazing. He found it a little strange that the Sandslash seemed to remember him despite the fact that Seth would not have recognized it as one of Syndra's Pokemon had she not been there.
All of the other Pokemon fascinated him as well. Seth moved to the Abra next. Hopefully he didn't move too fast, but his interest didn't exactly encourage him to take his time. Seth wanted to observe everything, and with three new Pokemon to get to, any wasted time would be a bad thing. Seth reached out to pet the little Pokemon on the head. Its silence and stillness didn't exactly captivate Seth attention, at least not as much as the others did. He could always learn about it later, right?
Next was Shroomish, doing its own thing. Following it a couple feet, Seth wound up laying on his belly to look at it. It was so little! Seth finally pulled out his pokedex and scanned the Pokemon. With so many to put in, it would probably take a couple minutes for him to finish. When he was done, he would be sitting up in front of Syndra, looking thoroughly content. It was just as pleasant to share Pokemon data with her as it had been the first time back in Littleroot.
During all this, Seth's Shinx and Syndra's Vulpix had been playing. At the first tackle, Shinx pounced right back. They were clearly happy to see each other again. They would roll around in the grass, sparks coming off of Shinx's fur. The two were adorable as even with their play-fighting. Sparks. That would be a good name for the Shinx. Yes, Seth liked that. Hopefully the Shinx would too.
"Oh!" Seth looked tremendously excited when he remembered something. "I almost forgot!" Another pokeball was thrown into the air, and from it came a little candle Pokemon. "I caught him with the others; he was especially tough." Seth was downright grinning between Syndra and his Litwick. It was clearly one of his favorites, which was saying something with how excited he got over literally every Pokemon he saw.
Sandslash's quills were ruffled as she felt the touch of the other human. She was on alert and it could have served to startle the other but otherwise she did nothing further that a warning. The ground type was cocky and disobedient, not so much dangerous. The green haired girl laughed at the antics as Seth moved from pokemon to pokemon in anticipation. The psychic type was the next to gain attention though he was content not to move from his position in his weariness. He instinctively would have teleported away if he sensed danger so the fact that he allowed the stranger near him with a touch was nice. It took Syndra the longest of times to convince the Abra to trust her to that extent.
The Shroomish on Seth's approach was startled as he backed up to get more space. Seth laying on his belly to view Shroomish helped though as it made them eye level. This comforted the spore pokemon as he looked back into the boy's eyes. On the side Vulpix would playfully nudge against her friend but tried to avoid the sparks when she could after what happened last time. It took half a day to get Vulpix's fur back to its softness and lustrous shine, a half a day that the fox wouldn't soon forget. While all the pokemon looked to be having fun with each other Syndra stood back to watch as she wasn't sure what else to do. It was when Seth revealed is final pokemon that her bystander attitude shifted into one of doting.
"Awwww," was her initial reaction as she walked over to the small ghost type, getting on her knees to see it better. Duskull having caught notice of his trainer's reaction to the other ghost type floated over as well next to her. Poking the small candle pokemon softly on the side she smiled, "Litwick is a cute one. I'm jealous." Luckily her Vulpix was too preoccupied to hear what her trainer said but the Duskull nudged Syndra for saying that in the fox's place. It was something to share a laugh about as the Duskull gave the Litwick another hard look over.
Once recovering the female trainer turned her attention to the male. She had promised to meet with him again on route 104 to explore but she wasn't sure that was too necessary anymore. He looked content enough with just looking over her own pokemon as well as his own. "So what's the plan Seth?" she would ask as she walked over to him. "I'll let you decide what we should do."
I actually have no idea how long you wanted to make this thread rofl.

FOR ALL THE AIR THAT'S IN YOUR LUNGS
FOR ALL THE JOY THAT IS TO COME

[ SETH ] So many Pokemon. Between his own and Syndra's there were a total of ten here. Seth could lie in the grass just looking at them all day if he was allowed to. They all had such different personalities, too. He hadn't interacted with his Pokemon much, but he had an idea of how they would act. And even just short interactions with Syndra's was enough to get the same impression from each.
The Inkay was curious and wanted attention. It didn't seem to crave it as much as Syndra's Vulpix, but just seemed to want something to interact with. The Shroomish moving away, the Inkay would follow through the air and bump into it a couple times to get and keep its attention.
The Marill, however, was not as friendly. It seemed to fear new things, or at least disapprove of any possible danger--it had as an Azurill at least. The little blue thing was hardly the biggest thing there and mostly tried to stay away from everyone. It backed up in the direction of the Abra, and, not looking, tripped over it. With a squeak it would jump away, looking at the psychic Pokemon warily.
Litwick was different yet again. Instead of being friendly or cautious, it seemed more malicious. When Syndra tried to poke it, his flame would grow bigger and popping sounds would come from it. The candle couldn't really growl, I suppose, so this seemed to be its substitute for that. He didn't appear to like being touched. Floating away about a foot, the Litwick kept its eyes on Syndra in a glare it never seemed to let go of. When the Duskull approached, the Litwick's attention turned to it instead and he floated around it in circles, never getting too close. The Litwick seemed to be sizing up a possible opponent. Seth watched cautiously, giving a disapproving 'hrmm' at his Pokemon's unfriendliness. He would have to work with it more, wouldn't he?
Between all of his Pokemon, Seth's Shinx appeared to be the friendliest, or at least showed that trait the most clearly. Despite the Vulpix's efforts at avoiding her, Sparks kept at it. She wasn't about to let the Vulpix get away without playing and would keep trying to tackle it. Sparks clearly didn't see the issue with the electricity in her own fur.
Seth's gaze darted between all of the Pokemon before Syndra spoke. He was fascinated by hers and wanted to make sure his were behaving. "Hmm?" Seth's mind was completely on the Pokemon, so it took an extra second for the words to process. He looked up at Syndra when she spoke, so she at least had his attention now. "Oh, uh, I don't know." Seth knew what he really wanted to do: stay here and observe the Pokemon. But he also knew he needed to be getting to Rustboro and that his plans with Syndra had only been partly to share their new Pokemon. "Weren't we planning to get through this route?"
[ SUMMARY ] - 502 - poke antics everywhere - i think just let it go organically, stop when it seems appropriate
"Mhm," Syndra would respond simply as she looked about at the pokemon. The Shroomish upon feeling the Inkay bump into him reactively shirked back and released spores from his body in self defense. The small yellow cloud of stun spore wasn't a full blown attack but it would be enough to get the other pokemon to back off if the grass pokemon's hopes were granted. The entire time he had his eyes closed as well as if afraid in a similar manner as the Marill. That said looking at the Marill and its interaction with the psychic type abra was somewhat different. More because Abra was more or less indifferent and all around less animated that the other psychic type in comparison. He didn't even seem to notice much less react aside from his tail pausing for a split second after contact. The green haired trainer glanced over to her Abra as if looking for information then moved her gaze a brief moment later.
The popping noises were surprising as they were more or less unexpected from the small candle in the time she had looked away from it. Still Syndra backed off and away from the Litwick to give it space, something her Duskull didn't do. He was curious as he rightly should be. The Duskull kept his single glowing red eye locked on the other ghost and his burning flame, keeping himself somewhat close. For now Syndra left that between the two ghost types and went to observe how her Vulpix and Sandslash were doing. As expected the ground type was acting distant and disinterested. Vulpix more or less playing tag with Shinx's sparks while doing her best to still nudge at the other pokemon when there's an opening. A few stings of electricity did hit her paws yet nothing that was much concern.
Her eyes would eventually fall back on Seth to expand on what she meant. "We could go the short road down to Rustboro or we could go off path and detour to check out the wild pokemon in the area." Either or she didn't mind the choice but the male seemed content staying here playing. That was also an option as well, "Whichever one you want or ready for. We could always stay here until you're content with playing with the pokemon."

[ SETH ] Pokemon were fascinating, and Seth couldn't keep his eyes off of them. He really needed to get better acquainted with those he had caught. Sparks was pretty familiar already, being the one Seth had spent the most time with. She was protective of him, but largely just a playful little thing. He knew by how she was playing with the Vulpix that the sparks wouldn't be more painful than static.
The other Pokemon continued to maintain his divided attention as they interacted with Syndra's. Inkay got hit by some yellow spores and seemed stunned and surprised by them. It floated away from the apparently unfriendly Pokemon, though would pause every so often and drift closer to the ground. Marill, looking slightly overwhelmed, simply laid next to the complacent Abra. Litwick, on the other hand, kept up his motions around the Duskull as though itching for a battle. That one required the most attention from Seth so that the ghostly pair wouldn't end up in a battle.
The mention of wild Pokemon is what snapped Seth's attention back to Syndra. He was fully aware of how rude he was being (and had been in their past interaction) by paying near exclusive attention to their compiled Pokemon. They would be returned in a moment, and she would have his full attention. "Taking the long way seems fun! I'm sure we'll be fine if we're together." If Seth were to go off the path when on his own, he would likely get lost and it wouldn't be a good day for anyone. Walking with Syndra, however, made him more confident. Trust in the buddy system. "If we do that, we should probably get going soon. Don't want to get to Rustboro too late in the day." Seth gave a lighthearted smile then returned all of his Pokemon, starting with his mischievous Litwick. He stood and offered a hand to Syndra.
[ SUMMARY ] - Seth would like to explore! - All of Seth's Pokemon were returned
The green haired girl giggled at his assertion as it oozed the essence of innocent naivete. Nevertheless the long route was the more interesting one for both of them. Nodding as she was about to get to her feet the hand of assistance was offered to which she smiled. Graciously accepting the help she placed her hand lightly over his to help herself up. "Thats the spirit," her tone remained bright in an attempt to match the mood set forth by her company. Taking her hands to brush off the dirt or whatnot off her dress, she watched as Seth returned all his pokemon to which Syndra thought to do the same. Whistling a short quick note to get the attention of the pokemon, most of them turned and went back to her side. "Time to go guys."
With that all of Syndra's pokemon were recalled back into their pokeballs, strands of red light enveloping each of them. Placing the pokeballs back onto her belt she turned back to the male as he mentioned leaving soon. "That's a good point. Let's go," she motioned to walk alongside her off the dirt road onto the grassy plains. They wouldn't get lost but it was very likely they could lose track of time if they weren't careful.
Whichever one of us finishes our wild thread first can request it. Up to you if you want to keep mingling/posting until then.

[ SETH ] Traveling with friends. That's what Seth had been so ardently attempting to do since his first day here in Hoenn. First he had to meet people and befriend them, then he had to get them going in the same direction as him, and of course being caught up with them seemed to be an issue as well. Finally he had been able to find a friend who would wander a route with him. The fact that they were likely going to encounter Pokemon only pumped him up further. It was hard for Seth to keep from running ahead of his companion.
After helping her up, Seth couldn't wait to get started on their trip, however long or short it would turn out to be. He went a few paces away, not processing that Syndra had to recall all of her own Pokemon as well. Seth skipped ahead a few more feet to the edge of the forest, looking impatient and eager to get going, "Come on, Syndra! The wild Pokemon won't wait all day!" That was a lie. They probably would. It's not as if Pokemon disappeared altogether after nightfall--in fact, they might even become more populous, a reason Seth had made sure not to be in the woods after dark. Maybe when he was more familiar with the terrain he could explore after-hours, but for now he needed to travel during the day and sleep at night.
