Learning through experience and practice was a motto that Ezekiel strive to live by. As much as Zeke was enjoying having his pokemon participate in battles, he did not want to over exert them to the point that their bond with him may become strenuous. Ezekiel was one for spending plenty of time interacting with his pokemon partners, this was especially true with Astra the Shnix who seemingly lived outside of her pokeball.
"I wish I had as much energy as you Astra!"
Astra tilted her head to one side with a cheeky smile on her face, it seemed her trainer was jealous of her boundless amount of energy. Ezekiel and Astra had been taking a break under a random tree on the first route of the Hoenn region, better known as route one hundred and one. Astra had struggled to sit still for more then a few moments as she went back to scouting the area while her trainer lazed about.
"Don't go too far Astra, we don't need any more trouble today!"
Of course what Ezekiel was referring to was the pairs encounter with a Snubbull earlier in the day, the blonde haired male young adult ended up capturing the fairy pokemon and had nicknamed it Tael. Astra had a cheeky smirk on her face as her ears twitched and eyes fixated on the surrounding area, she was anxiously keen to battle some more pokemon.
Ahh, Littleroot. The place she detested the second she had set foot in- why was she here, again? Right of course, the same as always, she had been following some radom decision or the other. The fickleness of her own life depressed her in some way; stability was troublesome, but her aching feet longed for nothing but that. She sighed and took a look at the shoes she was wearing- a clash of blue and red that seemed so appealing in the morning now looking worse than a remoraid on a bad day. Yes, she definitely needed some form of stability in her life.
Sighing dramatically, she eyed her surroundings with the dark gaze of a viper- where exactly was she? Leah did not like being lost, nor coming to the conclusion that she had messed up. Her pretty face morphed into a scowl, and she looked around, practically demanding the waving trees around her the name of her location. Eventually, as if to answer her demand, an Aipom materialized in front of her, all energy and purple spunk.
With a cruel smile she recalled the last time she had met an Aipom, and then the tattered state she had left it in after disposing of it with Rugosa's strength.
"What a pathetic monkey," she commented idly, not really expecting any other humans to be about. On her belt rested two pokeballs, their red and white surfaces glimmering slightly in the light.

An eventful first day on the job, Ezekiel had been expecting as much. In Zeke's books it had been a highly successful day filled with valuable experiences that would help he and his team grow together. Ezekiel hadn't expected to capture a Snubbull, Aipom and Tympole, all whom exhibited unique personalities.
Kiki had been peacefully minding her own business running up trees and performing flips off them. Ezekiel had dozed off, the wear and tear of the day had clearly taken it's toll on the rookie trainer. The peaceful surroundings of the first route of the Hoenn region were bound to be disrupted though. Kiki's face was red with anger as a female human called her pathetic, who did this bitch think she was? Using her hand like tail the monkey pokemon picked up a handful of dirt and tossed it towards the fiery haired female trainer.
The little creature then scooped up dirt and threw it into the red head's face. Any other day and Leah would have applauded the audacity of the purple creature. But she had this especial hate for monkey-like pokemon, and dirt on her face was simply unacceptable. Leah reached out a shaking hand to wipe away at the mud, giving the Aipom a death glare when she realized it had ruined the effort she had spent on make up in the morning. She was going to kill it. With nails and claws if she had to.
Practically slapping the pokeball out of her belt, she released Rugosa, her starter. The Recently evolved Roselia looked at the Aipom, unsure of what to do. Well, she knew more or less, but she didn't really feel like fighting.
"I don't like road kill that walks," Leah said, venomously, and that spurred the grass and poison type into action. Rugosa began by making himself grow bigger, using a quick growth to harness the power of the envirnment around him. And then he let the power fly out in the form of an energy ball.
>battle notes: rugosa. roselia. lvl 9 poison point [absorb. growth. sludge bomb. energy ball. water sport. grass whistle.]
