hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

It was suppose to be an easy job, a quick in and out, something a grunt could do. Because that was what he was, a lowly grunt trying to make it in the world. Except Elijah didn't believe so, didn't think he was meant for this rough and tumble from the bottom. Rules were rules though, and if it meant that he had to claw his way up, then he would, show them he was fully capable of taking care of himself and then some. He's already had to hatch an egg by himself, what more responsibility did he need. This mission was to show them he could do it, maybe earn something for once.
Maybe.
Simple, pick up a package, might be guarded, be stealthy if needed. Stealth wasn't a good thing, not when you're wearing a bright red suit. The only upside was that he was wearing the goggles that came along with the suit, at least to partially hide his identity. He'd even decided to hit the small shop during the dead of night to further increase his chances. Either way, this was suppose to be easy, since most of the population were either too young or too old to fight him off anyway. Still, there was always the chance of a wandering trainer.
He slips into the shop, clumsily climbing in through the window, cursing as he had mistakenly thought that he would fit easily. It was with a lot of wriggling and flailing when he finally does get through, growling in the dark as his feet finally touch the ground. He spots the items easily enough, a small box wrapped in brown paper, before scooping it up and heading back for the window.
He struggles as his foot catches on the window sill, hushed curses carrying through the night.

Nightly habits were often distinguishing features of different people, and Julius Kingston was no different. Something about the moon inspired him to take a long, undisturbed smoke thinking long, undisturbed thoughts. Neither of which were healthy, but health was the least of his worries. He stared up at the sky, and then watched as his smoke rose up to mix with the clouds.
Such oddly philosophical thoughts quickly crashed and burned when some noise like a giant bear rustling in the bushes violently shook Julius out of his mind. He looked to his side, at the shop's frame that he was leaning against. Curiosity pulled him forward, towards the window from where he heard the sound. But instinct forced his hand to move to his belt, grabbing hold hos his Rotom's pokeball. He walked closer, each step forcing his heart to beat.
In the end, right when he turned the corner...
He was met with a face full of ass and a struggling lower body, while the rest of it was stuck inside. If it was girl, the ass would have been pretty. But since the moaning was most certainly of the male variety, Julius knew immediately what was going on.
Theft.
God he felt sick. The person got through the window the first time, and Julius sighed, taking up a spot by leaning against the wall right next to the window, waiting for him to come out. The man did, or at least attempted to. His foot probably got caught or something. Julius smiled.
"Jesus Christ you bimbos in your red spandex suits. Made me think someone actually important was here."
Another whiff of smoke came from his cigarette and he eyed the man and the package.

How was he suppose to know that someone would be staring at his ass?
He nearly startles at Julius's comment, but doesn't bother with much of a reply, much more concerned with getting himself out of the window to bother. A trainer, he assumes, but Julius isn't doing anything other than chiding him like an old man, so he pays little heed. Elijah does manage to free himself, with a bit more wriggling and falling into the dirt gracelessly. A quick dust off, a glance at his package and he shoots Julius a glare, not that the man would notice much through the goggles, but Elijah assumes that his own aggressive posture would be enough hint to it.
"Whatever, you're not much to look at either." He huffs through the half-mask, pointedly trying to be insulting. His grip on the package tightens at Julius's inspection, not doubting that he's been caught red-handed. There wasn't much other option to look at it, obviously he'd been breaking and entering, and the uniform was a dead giveaway. So instead he snarls out, lips twisting into a wicked grin. "Hey, pipsqueak, you're not thinking about stopping me, are you? It's better to let me get away, save your pretty little face."

Hrm, interesting. This one wasn't quite a bumbling fool, but all thoughts aside he did look utterly ridiculous in that red thing. If he ever was going to make an organization, it hopefully wouldn't look as petty. Julius looks at his face, but the features are hard to distinguish- the half mask is annoying and blocks a lot of the features. The man finally gets out of his little self-created fiasco (tch, how incompetent) and then looks threateningly at Julius.
Julius can't physically not be afraid at such a threat, but somehow, after seeing what happened to his sister, he feels like this man can hardly touch him. He pushes himself slightly with his leg so he's not completely leaning on the wall anymore, and then he tilts his head to the side, mockingly.
"Implying you have enough muscle to back that up?" he asks innocently, a smile coming to rest on his lips. "Though I suppose grunts would need something to make up for their apparent lack in intellect."
Julius takes a step forward. He doesn't really know what kind of screwed up version of altruism this even is, or why he feels so invincible even though he's staring into the goggles of a wanted criminal, but something in his mind drives him to do the right thing. Loathing, justice, revenge.
"I'd make the same threat but you probably don't have much face to save." The threat is clear, the words undeniable. Julius will not back down.

His lips twitch at the taunt. Quick, clever, Julius has something going on. Except all it was doing was aggravating Elijah's nerves. He knows this technique though, used it too many times not to know. Taunt, bait, until they lose their wits and attack head on. Though, he's one hundred percent sure he can take Julius on, it's still something to think about.
"And you think you're any better? You're like a stick, very breakable." He sneers. Julius has guts, Elijah'll give him that, but it was incredibly infuriating to be suddenly be stopped, a temporary road block, to other more pressing matters.
He laughs at the obvious jab to his look. That's three strikes. "Oooh, was that suppose to burn?" There's a pun somewhere because he's with Team Magma, there must be at least one pun. Elijah's happy though. This is an excuse, to break away from this stupid ass mission and actually do something. He snaps off the goggles, rustling his hair as he seems to contemplate the piece of eyewear in his hands, before brown eyes meets Julius's. He throws the goggles at the Trainer, before going in for the first punch, maniacal grin on his face.

Yes but a stick would always be quicker than a log- and that was what Julius assumed all magma grunts to be. Prejudice, probably, or that very least, some form of stereotyping. Oh well. He was going to destroy them all someday, anyway. Elijah had read his tactic, but that didn't make it any less effective. His senses were sharp, and he'd be able to react quick enough. If he didn't, he was food for the roadkill.
The pun made Julius's smile reflect the grunt's- they both looked homicidal now, and they probably were. Julius watches the goggles come off, and notes the hair color and look immediately. Blonde. It's hard to tell, but that has to be it. Something moves from Elijah's side, and Julius is so on edge that he avoids it, ducking to the left to move away from the--goggles?
Shit.
A punch comes right after that, and Julius doesn't know how to react. The fist collides with his shoulder, knocking him back into the wall like a ragdoll. He's under estimated him. By a large margin. That's sure to leave a bruise, and hit hurts like a a bitch already. But somehow, Julius is still smiling. His hand is firmingly wrapped around the one Elijah used to hit him, and he raises his other had to reveal a cigarette.
"No, it wasn't. But this is."
He proceeds to jam the burning side of it into bare skin, or at least, attempt to.

The goggles had served their purpose, a distraction, something to keep Julius from noticing him too much. Good enough, his punch connects and its with sick satisfaction when his knuckles hit the other man dead on. He grunts as Julius takes a hold of his fist, unable to withdraw to follow up with another, showing teeth as he tries to pull away. The movement is too quick, and the lit end of the cigarette sears through his arm, a quick jolt of pain alerting his brain that this hurt.
Bursting with a adrenaline, he instead braces himself, effectively locking himself close to Julius if the trainer didn't let go and uses his body weight to charge himself and Julius into the wall. He's counting on the fact that the impact would further jar Julius, keep him dizzy enough to be helpless to another punch. His hand throbbing from where the cigarette burned him, he drops his package. Instead he uses his other fist, aiming a punch at Julius's gut. "C'mon then. It's a brawl you want, isn't it?" He taunts, feeling good about this. He'd landed a good punch, no doubt Julius was also in pain, all Elijah's suffered so far was a tiny burn.

No way in hell. This guy was utterly insane. The burning cigarette butt practically made him smile- how was Julius supposed to react, exactly? Oh right, he couldn't. The burn was supposed to back him draw him arm back but he instead rams forward, slamming Julius into a the wall. But its funny how he's on the durable end. Despite his 'pretty face,' getting into fights was pretty common place for a jackass (everyone else's term, of course) like him.
The impact doesn't quite make him completely phase out, because right now he's focused. A criminal. He has to...end...crime. The package falls, and Julius makes a mad dive for it, grabbing his arms around it like a rugby player. He can only hope Elijah's punch hit the wall behind him as he rolls to the ground.
Play smart. He uses his dive as a propeller for a sweep kick aimed at the legs of the magma grunt, trying to knock him down while he's still hanging onto the package for dear life.
"Really? What was the first hint that made you think that, blondie?"
Even now, sarcasm drawls off his tongue like it's nothing. His tongue really will be the end of him.

"Whu." Comes the unintelligent sound from Elijah's mouth as Julius dives for the package. Elijah, of course, more focused on beating Julius up had decided to forego the package, lest it weigh him down or get crushed in the process. He hadn't counted on that being the trainer's primary focuses. His fist collides with the wall instead of Julius's body, and he hisses as the pain shoots up his arm. It almost felt like he fucked up a knuckle there. He attributes the pain to punching a wall, he'd have to make sure later than nothing was severely broken.
Julius is quick, and the sweep sends Elijah tripping into the wall. He raises his hands to soften the impact, but that only triggers the pain from his knuckles. He holds his wrist, hand shaking from the pain, glaring at the ground to steady himself, one hand on the wall for support, before turning his gaze to Julius, malicious intent seeping through his gaze. "Drop the package. Now." He grits out, face contorted in reigned anger before charging like a mad bull towards Julius in an attempt to tackle him to the ground.

Elijah tripped, and Julius took that as his cue to put as much distance between him and the blonde and as quick as possible. He was annoyed, and angered. Julius was hurt on the shoulder, possibly bruised for a good full week. He held the package close to him and got some distance, but stop when he heard Elijah's voice. It was commanding, but Julius wouldn't bend.
His finger dug into the package- wasn't it a bit soft? Oh well. It would disorient the blonde, get enough wiggle room for some punches maybe.
"You want the package so badly!" He shouted, taunting rather blatantly now. It wasn't his style, but neither was the full out brawl that this showdown had evolved into. "Come get it!" The blonde charged and became the bull, and Julius became the bullfighter. The package was the red cloth. Julius took it, and swung it like a baseball bat straight for the man.
What neither of them were expecting was on the moment of collision, the package...unfolded...
Julius was breathing heavily, and in the silence that followed the unveiling, his breaths became almost too loud.
"You've gotta be shitting me." He was still holding onto one end of it like a bat, and the other end dangled to to floor. Safe to say, it had been a very, very long night.

The package was soft, it had been light in his hands as it was in Julius. Of course, Elijah had no way of knowing what could have been inside, except that he'd been sent to retrieve it. So when the wrapping came undone and Elijah managed to pick himself up again for his charge, all he could do was stare.
A doll, kind of like the ones you stuff yourself except this wasn't any kind of animal. It was of a person, very recognizable, considering all Magma were sworn to hate this guys guts above all else. "You can say that again." He laughs aloud, tired from the sudden bursts of adrenaline, and now all he wanted to do was to sit down and bury his head in his arms. He sinks to the ground, not really caring for Julius. It feels so frustrating that all he can do is giggle to himself, obviously going out of his mind after realizing he'd been ready to fight tooth and nail over a doll. Disheartening really.
He's done. He's just so done.
"You can have that if you want, I can make some shit up that a rabid Poochyena got it and tore it to pieces. For all I care that could still happen." He waves before struggling to get to his feet. His hand gave a painful throb. Yep, definitely something wrong with it, might've cracked a knuckle bone. "As for me, I'm off to look for some ice and beer." He pauses, considering his thought. "You're not too bad. Not strong, but smart." Their fight had been good, he'd leave Julius with some dignity.

Julius doesn't even know what to do. There's a man on a plushie. He doesn't even know who it is, but for now, his complete an utter view of both Aqua and Magma is changed. There's no anger in his eyes, really. Just pity. And then Elijah howls like a hyena and Julius can't help but laugh with him.
A long, high-spirited laugh that he doesn't think he's had in a while.
"Like hell!" He shouts in frustration when Elijah suggests that he keeps the doll. "I'm not as screwed up as your organization." As if to prove his point he throws the toy in the ground- he can't even take himself seriously right now, so he ends up giggling again.
"For once I'm out of things to say." He just nods numbly at the compliment, staring numbly at the doll before glancing back up at Elijah. "Yeah, and you're one hell of a ferocious fighter." He then throws his hands up in the air. He would never do this, but today needs a exception. To everything, even the laws of revenge and nature.
