can you feel it? can you feel it? pumps through your veins
Rain pelting down, leaving no remorse at all for her. Thunder clapping in the background as she tries to seek shelter. where is this place? And where is she? Her memories of nights before were foggy. All she remembered were the times she spent with Sam, her best friend and the boy who had a crush on her, danced with her all of the night. What came was the kiss in which she couldn't shake her feelings of. Her face reddens. Ah, no no, shouldn't think too much of it. The rain keeps on falling; she passes a girl with red hair, her mind wanders again as she tries to remember the times with her friends.
Would they want her back? Cain and his weed, Sam with his odd rambling, and Leah with her ability to want to protect those who are dear to her, especially her. Wish I was like that too. Jerome, was by her side, he noticed how sad she looked and tried his best to comfort her.
The rain. It kept on falling, but that was in the distance, and she knew it was soon to come over here. Falling on her as she would want to find a place to rest. Taking this moment, she sits herself down on the bench. Thunder and lightning dancing, hand in hand, as if to mock her.
"Hey Jerome...I want to go back..." she says softly. The girafarig looks at her, wondering what she meant as that. "You know...back to everyone," she says, choking back her tears. "Sam, was at the ball and I don't think even I can handle the fact that he's been waiting to find me for years..."
She tried to wipe the tears coming from her face. "I shouldn't even be crying, I don't deserve to cry at all...but, I don't know how to stop."
The tears fell and they won't stop. No matter what she wished, it wouldn't come true, would it? And forth coming, the rain began to fall, it's the small drops.
Her lifestyle is volatile, and as waves of anger and bouts of passion would flow through, so would the occasional ocean of despair, of uncertainty, and of uncanny depression. It would always be around september- the falling of the leaves indicating that school would no doubt end soon, and they would run around the halls as always, ducking into the club room to hide away from the faces of their unhappy classroom teachers. She and Cain would walk right out of the gates, soaking themselves in sakura leaves and racing each other to their hideout. It was towards the end of the school year when Ai disappeared, and when Max and Leah had broken up. It was during the fall of cherry blossoms that the Moon had fallen out of the sky, and that the empress decided to disappear along with it.
Her hands were at her sides, the scarlet locks of hair doing well to veil the sorrow laden red eyes. She was walking, not assuming anything to be in her path for it was obviously the line of thought she had been born and raised with. Her thoughts were mangled, and she didn't know properly if she could sort them out, and her hands twitched for a notebook or a pen or anything, but they found nothing- she had lost them in a save exploration. Fucking caves---
Leah was startled when she accidentally hit something along the road, and she doubled backwards. Her eyes went from uneasy surprise to anger- how dare something stand in her way? She'd destroy everything, create chaos, she'd...
And then a sudden surge of disbelief, her features writhing on her face, trying to display the pang of joy, of sorrow and of betrayal that she felt.
can you feel it? can you feel it? pumps through your veins
Frozen, she held her breath.
How long would it torture her? The small ache in her heart which resides more in her fears. She wouldn't blame them, how they would be angered at her. Kick her out of the group and place her in probation. As long as they're alright, it only matters to her. Ai hid in fear, fear of which could only eat at her. What came to her would be kicking her in the stomach. Could she handle going back to them? She wasn't even sure anymore. She just...she just needed time to herself. To think more. Perhaps to the point where she just needed a break from it all.
Watching her stand alone.
Ai remembered the times, one which was filled with laughter. Of them hanging around the bend and causing a heap amount of trouble with. The mischief Cain, the brotherly Sam, and the adoring Leah, whom everyone looked up to more than Ai. The unnecessary feeling of doubt closes her throat, suffocating her to the point of no breath.
Jerome nudges her cheek, worry in his eyes as he tried to cheer her up. The pitter patter of rain continues to fall, but it's only light. As she tries to keep her vision clear, she took in a deep breath. I can do it...right? She was uncertain.
One step closer.
The person, whom she bumped into wasn't as kind or as lost as her. No, she was filled with despair and uncertainty in her life. She was waiting for the girl who never returned. The one who disappeared at the end of a school year after she then left.
Heart beats fast.
Her eyes are up, she looks to the person. A race. A beating heart loud enough for almost anyone to hear. The rain continued to fall, this time, it was moderate.
Lost for words, unsure of what to say, a smile comes to her lips. "Hey there Empress," she said with a sad smile to her lips. She didn't think she would see Leah here. Actually, she didn't think she would see Leah at all. It just crushed her spirits that she was here in front of her. Still as glorious as ever. It's crushing Ai.
"I-I'm sorry Leah," she looked to the ground quickly.
Moments pass, seconds stretch on for hours and hours, and Leah is unsure of how to act. She's frozen in place, afraid of whiserping a single word for fear that it will break the treasured memories that flash by her. Yes, treasured. Leah finds out all at once that she did care, that she's always cared. The house of cards, yes, just by looking at Ai she can tell it all too clearly. She cared, she always did.
How was she supposed to be brave?
She faced the music, the music of laughter and smiles that danced through her years as she ventured forward to watch the onslaught pf memories that passed by her. How was she expected to remember with a straight face everything she had said, the words she had spoken to Sam and Max, and the way she'd left the group in shambled ruins, never caring what happened to anyone except Ai. You guys are a House of Cards, alright. And without your foundation, you're all screwed. You will writhe, and you might struggle, but you will all fall like you were destined to, if your stupid cards mean anything.
Had she meant that? Leah didn't know. But everything she'd done was because of Ai's death, of the death of someone she had loved.
She had died, every day. Every second that they were apart, Leah felt herself die a little more. She didn't have her Ai to protect, to shelter away, and now the rain was falling on both of them, and Leah could protect neither of them.
"You haven't...answered.. why?!" Leah asked, startled at the ferocity of her own voice. "You left us..." It can't be Ai, no. Ai would never be so cruel to appear again, as if denying everything that had happened, denying what had gone down because of her. Ai was an angel, and here she was- back from dead, back from heaven. The Empress did not believe in ghosts- this wasn't real. This was just some illusion cause by her mind as a result of dreaming of Ai for too long-it had to be some other girl.
"S-sorry?" Leah's choking on her words now, choking on her anger. She doesn't want to be angry, and the tears pile up at her eyes and she's not sure what she'd supposed to do. "Why, Ai? Why did you disappear, why did you..."
can you feel it? can you feel it? pumps through your veins
And all along she believed she would find her.
Leah, first Sam and now her. Ai was seeing things right? Her heart couldn't stop beating. She's seeing things, what did Arceus want? For her to cry out loud and say she was wrong for leaving them? To...to be wrong of everything? She thought the House of Cards would be fine without her! In fact, she thought they would be going on, clearly happy to keep her in memory.
Sam in tears made her think otherwise, when he cried in front of her, she felt horrible. Ai was selfish. That's all. She should have done something else, perhaps just say she was going to stop being in the House of Cards and take a small little break. One which would help her, to improve on the things she so wished for.
Yet, her wished did come true, she was traveling. All over the regions and smiling happily. It just...didn't feel right. There was no one to comfort her when she lost a battle; no one to be excited with and exchange stories of the adventures she had.
Time has brought her heart to she.
The shout, it made her frozen. Frozen on the spot of which bothers her the most. The girl grips her red scarf, the one which gives her the memories of her friends. She took care of it, carefully and dearly. As if her life depended on it. She wanted to face Leah, to tell her that yes, she was here. Not an illusion. Not a mere figment of imagination.
"I...I felt guilty," she said as she looked at her. Tears falling from her eyes. She's a mess and she knew this perfectly well. "I didn't know what to do, I...I was scared, afraid that you all would just hate me if you knew... I couldn't even stop myself either..." Her hand shook as she looked at them.
"...I didn't mean to fake my death...I thought...I thought it would be for the best, but I was selfish and I always am, I left only to protect myself and not think of everyone else..."
