their date had been planned. meticulously - mostly by cass. while she wasn't one for romance, she did enjoy planning things. they were supposed to meet up at rory's house and go from there. it was supposed to be a good nice.
he was in aqua as a spy. she was in magma - it was her second home. she loved it there. although, for some reason she felt like rory didn't he seemed much happier when he wasn't there. it was alright, she guessed. he had her. they worked out.
she climbed the stairs of his house. it's a rich, grande house. probably expensive as hell. and while she can afford nice things, she herself was leagues poorer. her house was half the size of his - maybe even smaller.
she brings up a carefully manicured hand and presses the doorbell twice. "rory?"
rory was the one who normally did all the planning. he was romantic. he liked romance. but that night cass was planning the date for a change. an unusual change, so much so that he had forgotten about it.
his house was big. simple as that. it was owned by his parents but they were never out here in slateport. they were always travelling around doing business. so he had the place to himself most of the time. actually, all the time. so you could imagine how messy the place is when a seventeen year old lives in it. without a maid.
but that night he had something different planned. ever since lamia came back they've been hanging out on the down low. sometimes they'd do more than hanging out. tonight was the case.
the door bell rang. rory didn't even think about who it was. he had forgotten about the planned date they had. he got up from the couch and scrambled to get a shirt on. the living room was trashed. there were female clothes lying around, scattered throughout the room.
he opened the door and heard a familiar voice. he was caught off guard. the door was open and she could see everything. he tried to block her view quickly by shifting his position. but he feared it was too late.
Ahh, the wonders of Hoenn. Now that she was back she was back for good- this place was as homely as she had remembered it, and maybe Lamia still actually felt guilt for what had gone down in the university. But all of that, all of responsibility and dignity was easily cast away when Rory was here. Rory and her had hit off right where they left off, and catching up had been interesting. He'd become a criminal (she wasn't even surprised) and a double agent at that. But of course she knew he was enjoying Aqua more than Magma. It was in his eyes.
Their meet ups had become more frequent, and Lamia was enjoying every bit of the time they spent together. Especially when they did more than just hang out- university had been getting so incredibly boring.
The door was knocked on, and Lamia played her part of the faithful mistress and found a sheet to hide her barren body underneath. But it was useless. Her blue clothing had been thrown around the room, and the furniture was a bit of a mess. Her eyes looked at the face behind the door and wondered who it was.
She let out a sigh- why did she even care?
"I told you it wouldn't work out like this, Rory. You're such a fool." It was softer than usual, but ti wouldn't take too much straining to hear. Rory was a jerk, after all, and mercy wasn't exactly something he should have been expecting. Oh well- if Lamia knew him well enough (and she was damn sure she did) he'd probably forget all about this day by the next month.

she waited for a moment, the door opening to see rory. not ready to go, nor has he been attempting. had he forgotten? cass isn't exactly mad, just a little disappointed. she put so much effort into it, too. rory was usually the one who planned these things. she was surprised that he doesn't remember. maybe he's sick?
"rory, did you--" cass spotted the blue clothes on the floor. not his clothes. girl clothes. confusion's written on her face, before it turns into rage. she yelled and cursed, shoving rory in the chest and making her way inside.
"WHAT THE HELL?" her face was red from anger. he can't hide it. she was out to kill. cass picks up the discarded clothing, clenching it in her first. she hurls it rory, screaming.
"is that this that lamia bitch? where the fuck is she? i'm going to kill her."
he tried his best to block her out. he didn't want her to come in and see what was going on. but cas shoved her way in. rory stumbled back and could only watch as she picked up the clothing on the ground. she tossed it at him as well. he caught it before it hit him but now he was faced with a really angry cass. one he hasn't seen before.
he struggled to find the words. right behind them was lamia, hiding naked under the sheets on the couch. he was surprised cass didn't notice her, but he was sure lamia wouldn't take kindly to that insult tossed at her.
"cass, calm down," he said. he had to try and control the situation. if he could just get cass outside then all would be fine. no one would get hurt. he accidentally turned to look at lamia, giving away where she was.
"don't hurt her," he whispered. he reached out to grab cass by her shoulder and held on, preventing her to do anything. he then wrapped his arms around her. she was really struggling.
The screamed annoyed the hell out of Lamia, who was busy slipping something on. As emotionless as she was, she felt some need to not walk around naked likeshe owned the house. But she did, which was funny. She knew Rory enjoyed her company, she knew she was one of his closest friends. She knew that other girl was dust, so it was quite humorous, really. She put on one of Rory's shirts- it was large enough to cover less than a quarter of her thighs, but she wasn't exactly looking to be professional right now.
As much as she despised it, this would have to do. She walked out into plain view for Cassandra to see, smiling slightly and tilting her head to the side. She judged how Rory was holding her, read her violent movements. How fascinating.
"How amusing, I wasn't expecting a fetish for short girls," she said, looking at Rory with a smug smile. She then turned her attention to the girl, nodding politely in greeting. "Hello," she said, positive that Rory would hold the girl back so she even waved a delicate hand at the brunette. Even if he didn't, Lamia was certain she could dodge around such a rage-induced opponent.
Was she mad at Rory for making her a mistress? No. What had she been expecting? A kind, committed relationship? No. Lamia Sinclair prided herself on intellect, thank you very much.

"you can't expect me to calm down whe--"
she sees the girl stand, wearing rory's shirt. and the bitchh has the audacity to wave. cass snarls, struggling even more to rip herself away from rory's grasp.she doesn't know how to feel. all she wants to do is get her hands on that girl.
she's tearing up again. "how can you expain this?" she cries. she beats a weak fist against rory's chest. it hurts. it hurts so much. she stops struggling.
cass is crying again. it's so embarassing - she's doing it in front of the girl. and rory. she tries to cover her face, to make it stop, but it won't. her voice is weak.
ah, shit. he knew it was over when he heard lamia's voice coming from behind. he could only close his eyes as cass started to cry. he felt her fist beating his chest softly. he just wanted to grab hold of it and hold it. he could feel how weak it was and how weak she was feeling. he caused this.
"no, cass, please don't cry," he whispered as he lunged forward and hugged her. he grabbed her and led her towards the door. they needed some privacy. he turned back to look at lamia, shaking his head slightly. "don't follow us."
the two made their way onto the porch outside the house. there he let go of her and just stared at her. he was at a lost for words. he couldn't explain this. the only way was to try and make up an excuse.
"i didn't betray you. i still love you. please, cass."
he wasn't sure why he said please. maybe it was to ask for forgiveness.

it felt good when he hugged her, but it couldn't stop the shards of pain in her chest. she follows his guidance to the door. soon they were on the porch. she felt his grip on her loosen, leaving her with barely enough strength to stay standing. she sinks into a couch, fervently rubbing her face.
it didn't work. she couldn't stop. all the recent frustrations had leaked out. rory staying in aqua. rory not spending time with her. rory not liking magma -- all of it makes sense now. and it makes it even worse.
she doesn't know what to do. she hides her face in her hands, feeling rory's stare. what was he thinking right now? did he even feel bad? she heard him speak, but it's nearly drowned out by the noise inside her head. she doesn't want to believe it. but she can.
his attempts to look at her just ended with her looking away. he couldn't stand seeing her like this. it was a whole different cass. one he's not acquainted with. he could only look down at the ground as he sat down on the couch with her. he couldn't look at her anymore.
"i-it's just..." his hands curled up into a ball as he tried to explain, "she's an old friend." they haven't seen each other in years. he didn't even plan for this to happen when she got back. he wanted to just catch up with an old friend. but one thing led to another.
does he regret it? no. not exactly. his feelings were complicated right now. he can't find the words to explain.
"it means nothing, cass. i still love you. not her. please."

she felt the couch shift as he sat down next to her. it's rather tempting to push him off right now - no, shove him. kick him. she wanted to be violent, to rip things apart. but she can't she can only hold her head in her hands and cry.
his explanation didn't make sense. "that still doesn't make it right." she said. just because she was an old friend didn't mean anything. he was supposed to stay faithful, no matter who comes by.
she did. well, it wasn't like she had a choice. rory was over-protective. possessive. he breathed down the neck of any guy that got close, and she hated it. obviously the trust hadn't been mutual.
"if it meant nothing you wouldn't have done that." she growled. cass stood up, suddenly angry again. she snaps, "your love - this relationship - doesn't mean anything if you can't commit." what did that mean? was she really about to end it? she didn't know. she just waited to hear what he said.
he was supposed to be loyal, to be committed to the relationship. it was ironic. he was always over-protective of cass to a point where he was possessive. he doesn't like guys staring at her or talking to her. he can't stand it. it's not because he doesn't trust her; he does. but he doesn't trust the guys. he's pushed most of the guys who knew her. he wanted her all to himself.
he flinched when she stood up. her crying stopped and now she was filled with anger. he sat there quietly as he took her words to heart. but then he had enough. it wasn't his fault. he didn't think it was. he shouldn't have to take this.
"you know why i did it, cass?" he stood up. he was now towering over her, looking down into her eyes. "because of you."
there. he said it. he just couldn't take it anymore. all the blame being put on him, he hated it. he wanted to push it off of him and onto someone else. and he was sure he wasn't going to blame lamia.
"you've been so busy with magma that we don't even see each other often. i hate that. you can't blame me for cheating when you yourself can't commit."

she flinched as he stood up. he's tall and threatening when he wants to be. she's short compared to him, but her heels made it up a little. her face was a little below his. it made her feel better, but it didn't remove the uneasy feeling in her stomach.
she can't believe the audacity of him. he was trying to put the blame on her. she clenches her fists. "you ass, commitment goes both ways. you've been just as busy with aqua." she snarled. she jutted out her chin, daring to step closer to him.
cass thought they'd last forever - well, it would be naive to say forever. but she hoped. she didn't think it would end so quickly - especially since they just joined aqua and magma. but she doesn't want to be hurt again. if rory is willing to do it with his childhood friend, what stops him from doing it with anybody else?
"you can't deny it. you fucking cheated, and i don't know if we can make it work because of that."
he gritted his teeth when she got up close to him. he was getting angrier by the second. he kept his cool for now, listening to her side of the story. but all her words just went out the other side of his ear. he wasn't processing her words. he couldn't. not when he was this angry.
"back off," he whispered through his teeth. and then she said it. he cheated. and that she thinks it won't work anymore. he closed his eyes and tried breathing slowly to calm down. but it was useless.
he couldn't take it. his hands lunged forward to give her a shove. rory was normally not a violent person. but when he got angry he got violent as well. he might have pushed her a bit too hard.

his words had a threat behind it. but she couldn't back down. cass was too angry. she was hurt. she just wanted rory to do something. to admit his mistakes. to fix it. but he didn't. he just continued to load the blame on her - not on lamia, nor on himself. it's frustrating.
rory was angry, she could tell. his body was tense. he took a breath to calm himself, and then it happened. it was sudden. everything went by too quickly. cass found herself sprawled on the floor, the breath knocked out of her. she's shocked.
rory never hit her - much less shove her. cass looked up through the hair that's fallen in front of her face. she didn't know how to react - would saying something else make him more angrier?
for once, she's scared of rory. it's a side she's never seen before. it didn't look like the rory she knew. cass flinched as he yelled. he had never done that to her. she looked up at him in fear, putting up an arm to shield himself.
