BIOGRAPHY - ever since he'd been young, Alex had always been a handful for his parents - too energetic, too aggressive - and that continued into his teenage years, turning him into a rebellious adolescent who they lost count of how many times he came home from school or off the street with a new bruise, new gash, new injury whilst donning the same shit-eating grin.
- what they didn't know that their son was an easy target for petty playground bullying for his height. Or they knew, but never did their son come complaining to them once. It wasn't a big deal in his eyes and, although unfair, didn't let it bother him too much and, with much perseverance (and refusing to take their crap), he was eventually left alone.
- but that wasn't the end of his unruly behaviour; after beating them, he basically joined them, and his disobedience problems just grew.
- at around the age of fourteen, he was caught by their local rangers after egging and smashing the windows to a small pokémon sanctuary that took in injured and abandoned creatures, specializing in raising ones that needed tranquil environments due to the difficulty to breed them successfully.
- after a decent hiding from his dad, he was dragged to the sanctuary to formally apologize to the owners and to sulkily ask if there was any way he could atone for his behaviour which, surprisingly, the owners - a middle-aged pair with a child of their own - accepted.
- Alex spent his next summer volunteering at the sanctuary to help repay for the damaged windows and, thoroughly enjoying it and learning more than he expected, he continued going there at weekends once school started up again and, at some point, decided he wanted to be a breeder. Or at least someone who could provide a safe habitat for more elusive pokémon to settle and lay their eggs in peace.
- once he turned twenty-one and after bidding farewell to both his parents and the family at the sanctuary, Alex decided to go on an adventure of his own to improve his knowledge and better his experience.
