[attr="class","textscroll"]So, this was Route 101. Brook and Skull walked onto the long route. Although it seemed short in description. Back at the lab, where Brook picked up his starting items and Pokedex, he was told that 101 was short and lead straight to the next town. But now that they were on it, it seemed a little long. As long as there was no unnecessary stops, maybe he and Skull could make it to Oldale within an hour or so. But, he had to take into consideration any wild Pokemon he ran into, or any Trainers that wanted to battle.
"Well, we better get going, Skull. We've got a long road ahead of us." Brook said with a small grin. The Houndour at his heels snorted and shook his head, taking the lead and moving forward towards the next town with his Trainer. The two were still pretty close to Littleroot Town, basically stepped out of the entrance. If they ran into someone else who was on their way to Oldale Town, it wouldn't be that surprising.

natalie thumbed the pokeball in hand while she stared vacantly at the route ahead. the hell was she doing? magma gave her a pokemon, but she had gone ahead and taken up birch's research project as a chance for her to get her hand on another pokemon. she wondered if they thought she was a terrible person or something. really hoped it wasn't the case.
uh. she really should let her pokemon out now, right? "hey, come on out, won't you?" she called, watched by a single crimson eye as the beldum stared at her. huh. it was a little unnerving, but the pokemon seemed good natured enough. "i'm natalie. nat works too. for you... jean, maybe?" she said it like "john", but in spelling, it was a lot more dubious.
her beldum didn't give her a reply. now she was really starting to get fidgety. "ah... don't mind, don't mind! we'll figure it out along the way, right?" she didn't wait for a response this time. the woman hurried along with her bag of supplies in tow.
she spied brook with his houndour some ways away, quickening her pace to keep up with them. "hey there! you guys heading out of littleroot too, huh?"
ooc - natalie has her beldum on hand. Brook Styles

I WANT TO EMBRACE THIS SUMMER TIGHTLY
BECAUSE I'LL BE BY YOUR SIDE, ALWAYS
PARTY
She wasn't looking forward to this. Leaving Littleroot, although it was a rather small town, it was like a home. Or at least the closest one that she would get for quite a while. Being apart of Team Magma meant a lot of moving and moving meant a lot of leaving things behind. But one thing stayed consistent. As she faced the grassy lands of Route 101, she could hear her Marill calling out to her from up ahead. The Pokemon was up and active, already being ready and helping her prepare as she got up in the morning.
Even if he was a bit of a pain in the ass, she couldn't help but find that he was a little nice to take care of. Or well - he took care of her. Helping her make meals ,prepare her bath water, and cuddling close to her at night even after she put him in his Pokeball. He was a little helper and his help wasn't bad to say the least. Maybe it was a little wanted more than anything else.
"alright, i'm on my way."
As the two fo them walked ahead, she noticed two other people making contact and they each had a Pokemon. A Beldum and a Houndour to be exact. Annoying. She wanted to move the other way, possibly take another way around but found her Marill was running towards them.
[attr="class","textscroll"]Skull's ears perked up when he heard noises behind him. Brook paid no mind to the gesture, however, and continued walking forward. His Houndour, on the other hand, turned his head around to see who was making the noise. Behind them was a young woman and a Beldum a few meters away. It seemed like the woman was a little anxious, and the Beldum was just... sort of there. This was all Skull's assumptions though, he could be wrong.
When Natalie called out, Brook stopped and turned around. The sight of a girl running towards him and a Beldum floating after her was enough to make him grin slightly in amusement. Once she came closer, Brook turned fully towards her and nodded. "Yeah, just came out of the Professor's lab." He answered. Skull obediently sat down. At this point, there was either going to be a conversation or a battle, and Skull was hoping for the latter. "Are you on your ways to Oldale too?" Brook asked. Most people who came out of Littleroot were heading towards Oldale, whether or not they were heading to Petalburg too was another thing.
Brook's attention was fully on the young woman and her Beldum, and was unaware of the incoming Marill. Skull, however, was at the perfect height to notice the water type. The Houndour lowered his gaze and tilted his head a little in confusion. If that was a wild Pokemon, Skull was a little bit in trouble. However, not far behind the Marill was another young woman, chasing after the Pokemon. Once the Marill actually made it to the small group, Skull nudged Brook's ankles slightly and pointed his nose at the newcomer.
Brook glanced down and furrowed his brow. Taking a step back to get a good look at the Marill, he was a little surprised a wild Pokemon came right out and greeted them like this. He glanced up at Natalie and pointed down at the water type. "Is this your Pokemon by any chance?" He asked. Maybe the Marill was lagging behind her and the Beldum. Skull snorted in amusement. 'Or maybe it's the other woman chasing after the Marill.' The Houndour thought with a roll of his eyes.

natalie kept a hand firmly on her satchel as she walked, catching up to the blue haired boy. beldum dutifully followed wordlessly. "mm hmm. couldn't pass up the chance to get a free pokemon." she sounded like a middle aged woman keeping a lookout for bargains in the newspaper. "i got a beldum from him. they've been... nice." nice was the kind of word you used to describe something you had nothing to say about.
"yup. oldale... then probably make my way up north, say hi to my parents in lavaridge." and maybe check in on her duties. they had issued her a teleportation pad that would make the trip a lot easier, but natalie didn't know if she wanted to go back just yet. it was her chance to really get out there and see the rest of the region. sure, lavaridge was comfy and full of nice old people, but that was it. hoenn was a lot more vast and expansive, and she wanted to see it all.
the marill caught her off guard. natalie looked surprised, but it only lasted for a while before she reached to pick him up. no, she would have remembered if she had a marill... "it's cute... but it's not mine. perhaps..." her eyes shifted to the redhead running towards them. that was probably a better guess than her. she was familiar. had she seen her around somewhere? maximus had the sort of face that you didn't really forget. (or just a really cute face, you know.) she pointed to the marill, smiling. "is this yours?" no harm done, right?
ooc - natalie has her beldum on hand. it is a marill, right? bc the sprite is a azurill i got confused lmao ty for queen asuka Brook Stylesmaximus prime
This Pokemon was going to be the death of her. By the time that she actually caught to her Marill, she was staring face to face with a rather pretty girl. Now Max had seen her fair share of pretty girls, and it always went the same way. They'd meet, they'd greet, possibly frick-frack and go their own way. She raised an eyebrow and smirked a little. Her Marill glanced between the two although he was steadily worming his way into the blonde's vincinity trying to get a hug or perhaps some safety from his trainer's rage.
"Wha- Marill, what're you doin'?"
She snapped out of it and glanced down at the blue Pokemon peeking from behind the blonde's legs. Her eyes narrowed and she folded her arms.
"Yeah. The mini-headache is mine."
He stuck his tongue out at her and she did the same before realizing how childish she was being and looking the other way.
"I guess he wanted me ta make friends for some reason."
Her Marill smiled and bounced up and down before going ahead to try and play with the Houndour. Such a large Pokemon, it could dwarf her Marill and Max was a little happy to see what would happen. But it was weird. Had she seen this blonde before?
[attr="class","textscroll"]Brook couldn't really blame Natalie. Professor Birch was giving out some very nice Pokemon, only in exchange for recording information in his Pokedex. However, he wasn't too interested in any of those. Skull was the only Pokemon he could count on at the moment. Brook hoped to expand his team, but it'd be a long time until he had a full one. Although, he had to admit, she had lucked out with a Beldum. It may have been a pain to train early on, but it was definitely worth it in the end for a full blown Metagross.
He looked up as the orange haired woman who approached. She seemed a little irritated, but it soon became clear why. The Marill was apparently hers. The Maril hid behind Natalie's legs as she approached. Apparently Pokemon and Trainer weren't on good terms just yet. It was a little amusing, Brook had to admit, but he kept his amusement hidden. Skull raised a brow when the Water type came up to him. He stared down at the Marill, not making any effort to say hello or anything of the sort.
Brook looked back at Natalie and then at the other young woman, grinning slightly. "I see. Seems like the Maril definitely keeps things exciting for you, huh?" He mused. Something about Trainers with rebellious Pokemon was amusing to him, and he couldn't help but poke at her a bit because of it. Some Pokemon were just a handful to deal with, and it seemed like the Marill was one of those Pokemon. "It seems like your Beldum is a little more calm than the Marill." Brook said to Natalie. The compassion was pretty funny. The Beldum seemed as chill as can be, and the Marill appeared to have a very mischievous side. Skull, on the other hand, just couldn't understand what the Marill wanted to do with him.
"Are you two heading over to Rustboro to challenge the gym?" He questioned. Part of him wanted to know if he'd have any rivals to deal with in the future. Even though it was basically the beginning of a long journey, Brook thought it was better to know now and prepare.

there was a certain country, southern quality to maximus' words that natalie found - heaven forbid - endearing. she wasn't sure if it was her marill ducking between her legs, or the way she was childishly sticking her tongue out back at her pokemon; either way, natalie kept her eyes on the redhead and her cute, blubbery pokemon. nightmare? "oh, it's kind of cute," she gushed unwittingly. she had always been a sucker for cute things, deep down, no matter how much she tried to hide it.
she stuck her hand out, thinking it only to be polite to do so. "well, it's nice to meet you. i'm nat. beldum's with me." and that was it. no other pokemon to call to her name, at least, not yet. "he-- it? it is, isn't it? guess it doesn't like to talk much." she hadn't heard the beldum utter a word thus far, although that was maybe due to the fact that beldum had no mouth from which to speak.
nat contemplated brook's question. she wasn't entirely looking for getting her pokemon super strong or anything. nat's only goal was to travel and see the rest of hoenn now that she had the chance to, while supplying some information back to her parents to supplement their research. "not really," nat shrugged, her hair bouncing past her shoulders. "i definitely want to get stronger... but i don't think i'm cut out for that training stuff."
