hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Benji Fairfax is half Asian model cum researcher, born and raised in Lilycove and in more recent times, relocated to a treehouse in Fortree City. Keenly interested in academia, he's taken up Professor Birch's task to help with the collection and research of Pokemon, specifically looking into Flying types. He's beauty, he's grace, he's Miss United States no not really he's just good looking on magazines but also a total nerd for birds. He's out to conquer the world with his Hoothoot.

If you have a love for Flying-types like him or a general love for research and raising Pokemon, friends can be made. Benji's not the easiest people to socialise with - he's distant and comes off as higher than thou, and he's fairly judgmental of others and general stupidity.

He has a poor tolerance for foolish antics, and anyone that judges him for judging are free to claim him an enemy. Benji doesn't give a hoot about it, or so he says. Deep down, he's got some insecurities about his body, no thanks to paparazzi and critics that he's had to deal with since young. If you bring it up, he's bound to get a bit stung and bitter behind that poker face of his.
lovers
He's not entirely unfamiliar with love and has had his fair share of relationships. Benji swings both ways so he'll be alright to pursue any romantic inclinations. He's a lot less judging and a lot sweeter around his significant other, though.
ideas + possible plots
- A non-NPC Fortree City gym leader, to which Benji apprenticed under and has a great deal of respect for them. They're bound to cross paths again in the future. - Past loves and/or flings; Benji holds nothing against them but he's not entirely enthralled with the idea of having to see them again. - Half siblings; Benji's father left when he was really young/unborn but if they look remotely like him (stereotypical east Asian features, but not necessarily 100% Asian) I'd be cool with turning his life upside down with this revelation. - Fellow model colleagues; They can either be in competition or friends. Benji was introduced to the scene when he was young, say five/six years old? - Fellow apprentices; They could be under a different gym leader, or the same. They're bound to have met during gym leader conferences and the like, if not learning together in the same gym.

Natalie, Nat as she lets most people call her, is a chipper adolescent who enjoys her fair share of research. She totally joined Magma to further her own parents' research not to see cute people and wear a cute hood not at all. She's always been a bit skeptical of her gender, had a bit of a teenage crisis when she lobbed her hair short, that sort of thing, but now wants to reassert the fact that she is very much female. She loves her fair share of adventure, kind of jittery over what people think of her, and prone to rash decisions.
friends
She's bound for her fair share of friends. She's not a hotheaded spitfire, but is plenty enthusiastic and cheery and hates to get on people's bad sides. She loves travelling and has an earthen spirit. She moved to Lavaridge when she was around 10 or so and stayed there since. Team Magma has always been rather close to her, like it or not. She had a super close best friend during her teenage years, who she is still friends with. Wanted ad for that coming soon! Other than that, Natalie's helpful and has natural leadership skills without bearing overbearing or too bossy.

It's alright to not like Nat. Some might find her attitude too goody two shoes for their liking, some might think of her as a slight pushover since she has a tendency to self doubt her decisions or rush into things without much thinking. Her motherly love might be smothering to others. Team Aqua probably falls under enemies, yeah? She doesn't have much against the people, but by virtue of opposing organizations, she doesn't take to them too well.
lovers
Nat has had a few passing crushes, nothing she'd admit. The one relationship she did have ended in a divorced marriage with her best friend when she had jumped into it a little too rashly. They're still on good, talking terms at the very least. She's the sort of girlfriend that seeks reaffirmation of her abilities and skills, so if you can fill that spot, feel free to take her on! I do love myself a good romancing plot. She'll flirt but isn't the sort to put out easily unless she's been wounded and is vulnerable to flattery. She's also trying to make sense of a growing attraction to girls, if anyone wants to sort that out for her, she'll be thankful.

Adelaide, goes by Ade, is the resident king fk boi's big sis and out of love herself. She honestly doesn't give two shits about her brother, and she does whatever the hell she wants now that she isn't tied down by engagement. She'll step all over fk bois and reigns as the resident ice queen.

Do you have a death wish? She tolerates few people and likes even less. She's a no nonsense military girl who doesn't care for her wealthy background or sides in the region's situation. She went through college and all that jazz, so she's smart ok? Okay.

Mess around with her and she will destroy you. She's no nonsense and has the strength to snap people into two if she wanted to. She hates most humans, so no worries, you're automatically on her hate list.

She's fallen out of love and doesn't care for romance. She'll find fk bois and break their will in bed, then break them in general. Anyone trying to worm their way into her heart needs to up their game. Or melt her ice cold heart. Good luck.

Finnian will make friends with everybody! He's outgoing, lovable and easily influenced. He's quite the yes man and is prone to changing his beliefs according to how people sway him. He admires anyone stronger than him and will always look up to people unless they change his outlook.

His paparazzi like stalking might weird people out some, and Finny has a tendency of getting annoying when he doesn't stop talking, even if he means well. While he doesn't see the bad in people unless it's pointed out to him, he'll vehemently fight against them until he develops his own viewpoints. He's also easily influenced by what other people say and their opinions, which is good for manipulation.

Finnian is asexual, meaning he's not interested in people just because they look cute or whatnot. He's rather oblivious, actually! Things like these go right over his head. Romantic feelings hardly come easily to him, so you'll have to spell it out for him! Things like fanboy crushes are more likely, if anything. Beware.

A nomad born into a poor family background, Zelda yearns for fortune. She's made it by being an excellent pickpocket, but she's got her eyes on a bigger prize now. Being a coordinator's going to make her rich, and no one can convince her otherwise.

Friends is a very loose word to describe Zelda. She's deceitfully nice to people of interest. Zelda doesn't make a very good friend because she's prone to backstabbery and pilfering your treasures before you can even realise it. She'll go in and out of your life without you suspecting anything. She never tells people her real name. Zelda, for all you know, is a moniker stage name.

If you're a victim to Zelda and her Zorua's ploys, chances are you won't be too happy. Zelda rarely feels remorse for her work because it's the way she's learned to survive. Pity didn't get people anywhere when they're starving. She's a huge liar and sharp tongued. While she doesn't pack much of a punch, she's smoke and mirrors. She'll confuse and wittle away at you until there's nothing left for her to leech off.
lovers
Same thing as friends - if it's a means for her to get what she wants, she'll do it. She has no particular preference, and may come off as flirty and promiscuous to some. Whether her feelings change is up to you!!
ideas + possible plots
- Someone allied with the law to set her straight on the path of good - Someone to recruit her into the likes of Magma/Aqua. She's a fire/water user that uses smoke and the like to create illusions, so she'll fit right into both. - A long term lover, whether or not they become endgame is up to you. Someone that Zelda develops feelings for. Bonus points if they have to get her out of jail or save her life.

Min Jae grew up pretty sickly until his family moved him to Hoenn. There, under the care of his service Pokemon, helped him recuperate. He's still very much deaf, and due to a great deal of social anxiety, is largely mute to the world and communicates by sign or telepathy with his Ralts.

Min Jae is the sweetest cinnamon roll!! It's a bit hard for him to communicate his wishes but he likes to make friends. He wants to get stronger, with his Ralts as well. He's a very shy and withdrawn child, so people will definitely have to step up to talk to him. Thankfully, he reads lips, so he can at least understand you if you can't understand him.

Min Jae wouldn't want to make an enemy out of anyone... although his overprotective Ralts might butt heads with a few. He doesn't like to be pressured into things and gets really frustrated when he can't convey his thoughts clearly or if people pressure him to speak, he'll end up cussing them out in really shitty Korean. He can't hurt a fly, though his Ralts might.
lovers
There are lots of cute girls that Min Jae really likes! But he is also a big nervous baby and talking to people in general freaks him out. Please talk to him and watch him get super blushy he'll absolutely Die.

ARIES & BENJI - we talked briefly in the c-box about this, but since benji and aries both have adorable gible eggs, they should totally raise them together!! aries is a bit of an air-headed idiot, and not the best trainer out there - but he tries pretty hard to be decent (well, working with what he has... which is a fugly porygon so far... which doesn't help) so he could definitely look towards benji for some tips on being more graceful and good with pokemon ~
also aries would think benji was super gorgeous. hoot damn amiright probably blush awkwardly if he looks at benji too long at first... idk. i'm a fan of mildly awkward flirtationships, too... if you ever want to head in that direction

aries bellflower yes pls... if aries doesn't think porygon are cool benji will take it off his hands like what a sophisticated pokemon that u can't appreciate PLS. he'll make aries fall in love with graceful flying types maybe amirite. they're like four years apart but age is just a number right, right? benji's hardly bashful when it comes to flirting so he can turn aries into a puddle of goop if you want he'll give him a wink for a finishing move and destroy him how about that. or it could totally backfire and then he'd get super embarrassed while keeping a straight face yeah yeah let me know aight

ARIES & BENJI - aries would probably gladly give his porygon away if it wasn't the only pokemon he has at the moment we'll see what happens in the future... but hopefully they end up bonding?? aries can be mature for his age... especially when there's a cute guy on the line, lbr. he's definitely charming enough to attempt to woo the older boy... and probably get really nervous about the entire thing, wondering if benji actually likes him in return insert shoujo manga cliche here... because aries is a dork like that ~
also, yes, teach aries to respect the almighty flying type. i mean, aries already loves cute pokemon he'll totally fawn over benji's hoothoot ok and most flying types are pretty adorable, so yeah, aries is game for that ~~

NATALIE OSWALD Well, Nia is just gonna cuddle her and braid her hair. For sure. Nia doesn't have the patience for all that waiting for her hair to grow out but she loves long hair, so she'd def wanna touch it. Maybe absentmindedly does so from time to time. But regardless of the fact that these two are on separate teams, I'm pretty sure Nia would adopt her as her little sister. Don't know how Nat feels about that. But. Y'know.

funny you should mention hair because nat grew it out so she could feel a little more like a girl than the tomboy she is. nia can play w her hair all the time. they're the same age, and she gives off a motherly vibe as well, so i can def see them mother henning each other like dorks and it'd be super cute. they could also....... maybe smooch...........

mauville would definitely work! Zara spent a lot of time in slateport, so she probs would have biked up to mauville for partying and stuff. she just started on route 101 so we could thread there if you want or meet up in the next town?? good with anything
as for nat yaaaaas that will be fun. at some point we'll have to have them meet up. i'm assuming she's a little further than zara is on her journey~

zara bonheur um benji is a nerd who's still stuck on the first board lmfao so if you want, i can set up a thread with him there and we can blow through it!! he needs threads to hatch his egg anyway. nat on the other hand is already all the way up to route 104 - we can have them meet at a later time instead? c:
▶ So obviously Nat, and Red would at least know of one another. They are both Magma, and so the two of them should have talked. We could thread, and see how they react to one another but during Magma affairs Red is very distant. He keeps his mask on, and anyone and anything around him during these dealings know him as "Red" and not "Jeremy". So, maybe they could become friends, or maybe they'll clash in their ideals when it comes to Magma.
As for Benji, He seems sorta full of himself, and that would rub Red the wrong way (sort of a hypocrite, Red is). Then again, who knows. He doesn't like being judged, and Red would judge hard if he came out guns blazin with how confident he is. Let me know!

nat will probably find his hate of magma understandable given the organization, although i guess she doesn't feel the same strong hatred because she's really just interested in the research of volcanoes and the like (and the cute girls, but not the point) her motherly side of her really wants to get to know jeremy better, to understand what's beneath red's mask and try to be on better terms with him, maybe? if there's anything she can help with his fear of water, she's got a bad fear of enclosed spaces so she can empathise to some degree.
