”Shit,” she grumbled. It had probably been a mistake to let the Drilbur out. She seemed to have her own agenda, going ahead on her on. Nataalie chewed on the bottom of her lip, mildly disgruntled by this development. She let out a heavy sigh and tried to keep up. ”Hey, get back here!” she cried, running shoes hitting the dirt as she trudged on ahead.
The Drilbur resurfaced from the ground moments later, glancing back momentarily at Natalie as she rushed towards the Pokemon. Eyes narrowed, the Pokemon trudged on without sparing her trainer any word.
In comparison, her Beldum was probably the most well behaved creature. Natalie cursed under her breath as she ran. This had better be worth it, damn.
it was a lovely day. the sun was shining bright and the birds were chirping. he was back on route 101 for some reason. he wasn't too sure why as well. he just needed to get away from shit for a while. go for a nice walk. he had his phone turned off so there would be no distractions. so he walked the route with his head staring high up at the trees.
his nice trek was interrupted when he kicked something, almost tripping. he looked down to see a drilbur with half its body still stuck underground. he shook his head and grabbed its body, lifting it out of the dirt. he gave it a pet on the head and carried it in his arms.
then came a female who was most likely its owner. cute blonde as well. he gave her a charming smile and walked over to her.

She ran. She ran until her lungs felt like they were going to give up on her, but Natalie refused to be bested by one damn Pokemon. Surely she was better than this? Gritting her teeth and pressing on, the girl continued to chase her Pokemon.
Said Pokemon poked her head out from the dirt and narrowed her eyes. The human was still in hot pursuit. She scoffed, ready to pounce back into the hole from which she surfaced when she felt something picking her up. Picking her up. The Drilbur wasn't all too impressed. She raised a claw, poised to strike her attacker as she growled menacingly.
"H-- ey," she finally caught up, eyeing the man who had appeared from nowhere rather warily. Natalie grinned. "Yeah, she's mine. Lil' rascal tried to get away." She retrieved the Drilbur's Pokeball, tapping it on the head to return it. That would hopefully be the end of her woes. Thanks for that."
She tucked a lock of gold hair behind her ear. "I'm Nat."
the drilbur raised a claw. he scoffed. it thinks that it could even hurt him with that claw. the female soon recalled it back into its pokeball. thank arceus. he wiped his hands against his pants and quickly fixed his already spiky hair.
"liam," he said, he decided against shaking her hand. his were dirty from picking up that drilbur. instead he slid his hands into his pockets and smiled.
his eyes examined her from head to toe. trainer? maybe. he can't be sure. little did he know he was talking to a magma. it was a good thing he used an alias.

He was... nice. For lack of a better word to describe him. Liam, as he had introduced himself, seemed nice. She couldn't help but to keep her eyes on him out of reflex. You don't just pass over a good looking guy, right? There was a contemplative look crossing her face as she bit her lower lip. "Hmm. Nat will do," she replied with an air of nonchalance.
He wasn't all too wrong. She was never born in Hoenn, but she called sunny Lavaridge home for as long as she knew. Nat gave a smile, meek and coquettish. "Yeah, you could say that. I've always wanted to see the big cities. Heard they're nice and crowded and smells of the sea." Lavaridge was holed up beside a smoky volcano. Hardly any water there.
Her eyes remained on Liam. "How about you?" He didn't strike her as the traveller type. Maybe a policeman sort.
nat. yes, nat sounded better. he returned her smile with one of his. he knows a thing or two about big cities with the smell of the ocean. the aqua base was perched right next to one. the city he grew up in too, slateport, smelled like the ocean. he loved the saltiness that the wind carried.
him? he thought about it for a second. where did liam come from. he supposed there was no need to create a backstory for liam. "slateport," he replied.
"i know a thing or two about cities. want to come with?" he asked. with the new train system they could go wherever they wanted on the mainland. but he'd settle for oldale for now. it wasn't technically a city. but there are a few places they could visit. like his apartment.

Nat could have clapped her hands in delight. Slateport. Even the sound of it off her tongue sounded delightful. It sounded so fresh and vibrant and she had this beautiful little marketplace scene painted up in her head. Nat could have swooned then and there. "It sounds like a lovely place!" she quipped.
What made her happier was probably his invitation to come along. Was this the adventure she was dreaming of? She had dreamt of many things. Happiness was on the top of that list. She had sought it out - to questionable consequences, but it wasn't time to think about that sort of thing. Standing before her was invitation to an opportunity. And she didn't want to let things slip from her grasp. Not this time, not any more.
"I'm not a helpless little girl," she scoffed. She wasn't weak, per se. Natalie had the rocky Jagged Pass to train herself on, travelling about it in order to get around places. She was by no means weak - if she wanted to, she could probably prove her point at Liam's expense. "But hey, why not, right?"
Take that as a yes, she'd come along, but fk bois better not think it meant anything more.
slateport was definitely his favorite city. it just had everything he could want. the beach, shopping malls, the market. it was wonderful. he does miss it. he hasn't been there in a while. being aqua leader meant he had to stay at the base often. lilycove was similar to slateport. but they weren't the same.
oldale was a shitty town. he wasn't going to lie. there was barely anything to do. the last time he was here was when he spent the night with cass. a great night as well.
"this is oldale. small town, really. but they have a a nice bar. over there's the pokemon center. and to your left is the pokemart."
why was he being a tour guide again? the things he does for girls. he shook his head and smiled as he pointed to the buildings as he spoke.

Listening to him reaffirm how amazing Slateport was fascinating. Natalie listened with her eyes wide and bright and attentive. Like a puppy, she followed along by his side, resisting an urge to link arms with him or anything. She wasn't like, interested or anything, but it was hard to pass up the idea of pretending to be with a cute guy. She didn't want to lead him on or anything. The last thing she was looking for was a vague idea of a relationship. Jumping into marriage had probably been an indication of the fact that she yearned that sort of familial stability.
As they exited Route 101 and entered Oldale, Natalie found herself charmed by its rustic nature. It was barely any different from Littleroot, but there definitely seemed to be more people hanging around now, especially since there was a center and a mart here. "I should go get some supplies, huh..." she checked her bag, which was mostly empty other than the few change of clothes she had.
He mentioned a bar. Natalie blinked, checking the time. "It's a little early for a drink," she joked, "But I might stick around for a bit. Why don't you give me a call if you want to hang?" She tugged on her PokeNav around her neck, offering to input her number.
yeah no. he wasn't going to go shopping for supplies with her. he'd offer to pay, sure, no problem. but he wasn't going to stand and wait while she picked out her supplies. he had better things to do than that. and besides, he wasn't that desperate.
"it's never too early for a drink," he joked back. he pulled out his phone and held down on the lock button, turning it on. so much for no distractions today. once it turned on he opened the phone app and handed it over to her. there were things on his phone that normal people shouldn't see.
"sounds good."
he gave her a smile before letting out another sigh. boring day.

There was nothing wrong with giving a nice person her number. It wasn't like she couldn't fend off creeps, but she could tell he was a decent guy. Maybe. Under the layers of fk boi there was something. She couldn't say for sure... but she liked to assume the best of people.
He passed the phone over to her and she ran her fingers over the keypad, typing in her number without much thought. She only had a few contacts herself. Her parents, her best friend, and the hot springs lady. She wasn't familiar with smartphones, though. She hit the big red button - the home button - and ended up minimizing the application as the app drawer came into view.
Huh. A cute girl. Natalie wanted to giggle. "Is that you?" she pointed to the "perfect human teens" (as described by noodles) in the phone's wallpaper. "Who's that?" Her finger turned towards the brunette beside the light haired boy.
he wasn't focused on nat when she took his phone. normally the girls would just punch in their numbers and hand the phone back. nat would be the same, right? nope. she pushed the home button which brought up his wallpaper. it was a picture of rory and cass when they were younger. when they were still together. the pic was about seven years old? he didn't remember.
"me?" he replied. then he saw what she was pointing to. her finger drifted over to cass as well. shit. he wanted to snatch the phone back. but that would be very suspicious wouldn't it. he refrained for now.
"oh, yeah that's me," he said. he wanted to avoid her other question but he felt if he did it would just come back to haunt him. "an old friend."

She probably shouldn't have been staring at the wallpaper. But the girl was cute. Even cuter than Liam, that much was for sure. She caught herself grinning. She didn't mean to intrude on his privacy or anything like that, but something was nagging at Natalie to find out what was this about this cute girl and Liam.
"You look so... young." Not cute, no sirree. She eyed Liam once more, totally not checking him out, just comparing him with the photo on his phone. An old friend, he said. Natalie knew her fair share of "old friend" scenarios. He pointed out that she was totally just hogging his phone now.
Natalie smiled. "Sure." She held the device out, but any attempts to yank it out of her hands would come to the realisation that she was clutching it quite tightly. "If you'll tell me more about this 'old friend' of yours. She looks like a lovely girl."
the picture's quite old," he laughed. he was like sixteen when the picture was taken. maybe even younger. he already had his growth spurt by then. before that he was very short. he was happier back then as well. and so was she before everything went to shit. and it was because of him.
he was about to grab the phone before nat's last comment. he smiled and retracted his hand. he should have expected it. the girl was curious. but he wasn't so sure if he should be divulging information like this. he doesn't know anything about nat. was she magma? aqua? no, not aqua. she would have recognized him. he hesitated for a bit.
"what do you want to know?" he asked. he was in a bit of a situation here.
"her name's auri. and really, she's just an old friend."
Post by NATALIE OSWALD on May 30, 2015 12:14:44 GMT
In hindsight, Nat probably should have known that the girl in the picture was her top boss. But the picture, as Rory had said, was nearly a decade ago. Girls changed when puberty hit like a bitch. She had experienced it first hand herself. She wasn't clear on the Aqua side of things, but even amongst Magma, she never really knew. It wasn't like she was a super serious member. Magma had its cause and she wasn't 100% a subscriber of the efforts. She just wanted to do volcanic research.
"I don't know. Just an old friend doesn't sound like much of 'just an old friend' to me." Idly, Nat rocked on the balls of her feet. "What's she like? How long have you guys known each other? Do you guys still talk?"
Something told Nat that Liam wasn't the sort to be very forward about such things. Well, she had cracked tougher nuts. She placed a hand to her cheek, sighing in contentment. "Auri's a lovely name too." It was the sort of name that she could imagine her sister having, in the scenario that she had a sister. Maybe in a different world?
