It was a bit of a cheery day, and Julius was quite in a happier mood than most. The sun was up, and it was hot, but that didn't reall change the atmosphere. Today would probably mark the official start of the festivities in Petalburg, and the other day he had gone back to Odale to retrieve something. So now he was heading back to Petalburg and doing so with a slight smile of his face.
His little wonderland was interrupted when his foot kicked something that wasn't the usual sand that had been beaten down by a variety of trainers, breeders and coordinators alike. It was something hard, and suddenly Julius stopped and looked down, the arms which had been acting as a net for the back of his head now dangling down to reach out and grab the small purse that appeared to have been dropped.
He looked in front of him, and spotted a head full of pretty, blonde hair. Julius's legs jogged automatically as his fingers wrapped themselves tightly around the purse.
"Hey~!" he called, and tapped on the girl's shoulder when he was close enough. "Is this your purse?" he asked, gesturing from the purse to the girl to where he hand found it.
But something really didn't make sense- the purse was a little too bright and pink and black to be the object of someone who looked like the girl in front of him. He hoped it was hers, though. He'd probably go mad trying to find the owner of it otherwise.

She had left Liam to do her grocery shopping and spent the night at the center, doing her expenses count and makign sure everything was still in order. Day 2 started with the sun hanging high above her head. Tropical Hoenn boasted sweltering heat, and Natalie's head donned a bucket hat as she kept moving, wanting to get to the next town as soon as possible. The faster she got to Petalburg, the closer she'd be to home. She heard there was a shortcut over to Slateport just north of Oldale, but she lacked any Water-types (curses, maybe she should have joined Aqua, what with the abundance of water in the region) that could get her safely through the water.
In her haste, she must have dropped her purse. It was the last thing anyone was expecting her to carry, a frilly pink thing way too feminine for anyone to even be carrying around. But it was an old wallet and she had figured no one wanted to steal crummy old wallets that looked like some wannabe teenager would use it. She'd never admit that she once used it years back, of course. She'd take that secret to the grave.
But alas, she had been found out. Natalie turned, startled by Julius tapping her on the shoulder. "Huh?" she tilted her head. Her eyes went straight to the purse in his hands. Oh no, oh no. She was supposed to take that secret with her to the grave! She wasn't expecting to be found out already. "O-oh, that...!"
She really didn't need the whole damn world to know. "It... it looks familiar! I don't think it's mine, though. Not that I would have something like this, ha..." She trailed off with nervous laughter, not entirely sure how to go about getting her purse back with arousing suspicion. "We should try and see if we can find someone who lost their purse! Maybe we can bring it to the center in the next town. Let me have a look at it." She gestured for him to hand it over.

The blonde seemed terribly startled when he tapped we shoulder, and Julius admittedly felt bad because if the whole fiasco. Obviously she wouldn't want her bag to be picked up by some stranger, so Julius soon found himself turning apologetic. "Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he mumbled, but just as quickly noticed that she recognized the purse on sight. At least, so he assumed and hoped.
"Oh, good, so it is yours--wait, it’s not?" He asked, confused at how contradicting the girl was being. He had just been about to hand it to her, but then he pulled it back when she said it wasn't hers but it looked familiar.
He frowned, and the stinking suspicion was plainly written on his face. "Uh, yeah, sure" was his fumbled response at her suggestion of finding who it really belonged to. The girl reached her hands out, asking for the bag.
"Ah, well, that's quite alright, I can check it for identification myself..." He muttered, trying to figure out how to open it. The purse had one too many decorations and frills, and not enough of a clearly marked zipper anywhere on its surface. Julius sighed internally- the was why men were the simpler creatures.

He wasn't relenting. God, Nat would give anything for the damn boy to just release her purse and give it to her already. Men might have been the simpler creature but they could be horrible simpletons, could take a hint, couldn't watch out for subtle cues to just give it to her.
She watched him continue to fumble around to try and find the zipper. How incompetent could he get? It was simple, but then again Nat was speaking from years of using it. "That was what I was going to do!" she retorted, unable to watch this foolish display any longer. "Come on, I used one of these when I was a kid. I know how it works." Without warning, she tried to snatch the purse from his hands.
Whether or not she would end up paying for that, she'd find out soon enough.

Okay so maybe at this point he had absolutely no idea what he was doing, and perhaps he was making an absolute fool of himself while he stumbled to find the goddmaned opening to this demon purse from hell. The girl shouted a bit childishly that she was goo to do that, which forced Julius to say something back. Retorting was just instinct for him. "Well yeah that's why I said I'd do it for you!"
She was being so ridiculously touchy especially given how it wasn't her bag at all! When she literally made a grab for it, he pulled it back twice as fast- staring at her incredulously as the bag was tipped over with Julius’s hands on one side and the girl’s hands on the other and of course with all of the bag’s contents spilled onto the dusty road.
"What the hell?" he shouted, still not understanding any bit of what was going on- half of him still thought she was a thief and the half that didn't had no idea what to think.

A guy just didn't know when to quit it. She felt like a little girl arguing with boys with cooties on the playground. At the back of her mind, Natalie wondered if she should have just come clean and they would have been able to avoid this whole affair. She had probably been in the wrong... but it was too late to admit that. Part of her pride wasn't ready to accept that she was wrong.
God, she couldn't believe that she was actually snatching for her purse with some guy. "Hey, I'm not a thief or anything!" she exclaimed, wondering if that was what he was thinking. Although in this scenario, a guy trying to snatch a girly purse from her made him look like the criminal.
She made a noise when she watched her purse's contents spill out. She looked at the ground and the mess. "...Great." She squatted on the floor and tried to sweep the coins together. As if money couldn't get any dirtier.

And there was also no way that Julius would admit that he was in the wrong, despite the stares they were receiving from the rest of the people around the route. When she said exactly what he was thinking, he faltered for a little bit, and that was when she grabbed it and he grabbed it and then everything fell to the dust.
Julius knelt down just as quickly as Natalie, mumbling a not-so-heartfelt apology as they both began collecting coins and dollar bills. He wondered how ironic it was that he was the one who probably looked like the criminal. And then among the muddled mess of a purse, he found it. A photograph of a blonde....

She tried to dust most of the dirt off her cash, a scowl written on her face. What a petty argument she had gotten herself into. Nat could feel her cheeks burning from how silly and childish she had been acting. She kept her fingers busy, wondering if he would start to question her motives if she started stuffing the money into her pockets. It was a reflex. She wasn't stealing... all this stuff was hers, technically.
Her eyes shifted to the other boy and she froze when she realised he had identification in his hands. Natalie watched him very closely, wondering when was a good time for her to act. "H-Huh?" she continued to act ignorant, craning her neck. "Hey, is that me?"
If she closed one eye, she could pretend the girl with slightly shorter hair and the same eyes as her wasn't really her. She pretended to look surprised, rummaging through her own bag and clasping the bills in her hand tightly. "W-Well... what do you know, it is me..."
Nat huffed and let her arms hang loose. "Yeah, yeah, so it's mine. Big deal."

Julius’s stare became something else when he saw her stuff the money into her pockets-- was she freaking serious!? The anger was apparent as he scrambled to his knees and then stammered to reproach YE girl.
"What are you doing! Seriously are you stealing money from..!" He stopped suddenly, the anger turning into confusion and then steadily steadily becoming more and more bewildered as the girl continued to act out.
"...from yourself." He finally finished, watching as she put her hands up in this childish display of surrender. She looked utterly adorable with her hands in the air and the pink blush lighting up her features.
Julius couldn't help but descend into a fit of laugher, the purse falling from his hands as his arms found that clutching his stomach was a better idea.
Post by NATALIE OSWALD on May 31, 2015 13:46:45 GMT
Her face was burning up from how embarrassing this was. Denying it was hers and being exposed in such a shameful way. Natalie clenched her fists and stuffed the rest of her money into her pockets. So much for trying to keep her stuff in her purse. "I told you, I'm not stealing. Geez," she gave him a roll of her eyes, because dealing with idiots like these was downright exhausting.
And now he was laughing. Nat wasn't sure if this could get any worse. Her cheeks heated, she crossed her arms and rested her weight on one foot. "Hey, stop laughing. I can kick you, you know."
She would be more than willing to prove it. She snatched the purse off the ground, dusted it with a few harsh smacks, and shoved it into her bag. "If you're done with that," she said pointedly, "I'd like my photo back." Why couldn't he have taken the other photograph she kept of her best friend instead? She wanted this day to end. She wanted this route to end, at least.

He tried to be mature about it, he really did, but it was all so hilarious how everything had escalated and how she had done so much to get away from being caught with a frilly pink bag. Finally noting the anger in her words (but still choking in bouts of laughter) he tried to stand an sputter out a response. "Oh my gosh --ahaha, I mean, no, I'm so sorry, I thought you were a criminal or something and I just."
He paused and staggered I his feet, and then revealed his face which was so obviously concealing a laugh, what with the red skin and pursed lips. At the mention of the photo he was tempted to ask to keep the picture of a beautiful lady, but he felt like he’d been too annoying for one day so he took a steady breath and handed it back, trying to seem as apologetic as possible.
"You know I definitely would have done the same thing, right?" He said, smirking as he put the photo back in her hands. He ran a hand through his hair and fixed his hipster glasses, an then dusted himself off as well a little bit, kind of hoping he would still be there when he turned to look up.

"I did say, I'm not a criminal," she repeated for the umpteenth time, wondering if Julius thought it was going to grow old. The longer she listened to him and his endless peals of laughter, the more she wanted to leave. She adjusted her grip on her bag, prepared to turn heel when he finally stood up.
Natalie wasted no time in snatching her photo back and stuffing that into her bag without much thought as well. She was jut about done. He was mumbling about something - Natalie wasn't paying too much attention, not because she was mad, but because she was just starting to really pay attention to the guy's face.
He reminded her too much of him. Nat caught herself staring before she pulled herself away, knowing better than to let herself get stuck in this again. Not this time. She wasn't young and rash and stupid anymore, or so she liked to think. "Well, whatever." She didn't expect him to understand it. She let silence linger before her eyes wandered down the route.
Post by Julius Kingston on May 31, 2015 14:23:08 GMT
She stressed her non-criminal status so much that any other day and Julius might have suspected it. But this girl was too flushy and clumsy to really fit that image, so all he could think of when she said the sentence again was of a child stressing independence or something.
He was busy dusting himself off and only the claps of his hands on the denims he wore we're audible for so long he thought she had slipped away while he was busy. When he turned back to the girl, a look of pleasant surprised cross his face and he grinned at he words.
"Yep." He stood up so he wasn't crouching any more and offered her his hand to shake. A friendly, hopefully peace inspiring gesture that would get the girl to stop being do flushed. Although she was definitely more cute like that. "I'm Julius. Petalburg is just around the end of here..." He let his voice trail as he looked at her from head to toe.

She was starting to wonder if she should have really extended the invitation of friendship to Julius. At least she knew his name now, even though it had cost her probably a lifetime of embarrassment on her end. She tried to shrug it off. Being all flushed wasn't like her. Nat could usually shrug these things off better, let insults roll off her back like they didn't hurt.
"I'm Nat," she introduced herself, trying to keep her distance. Honestly, now that she had seen the connection, she was having a hard time trying not to think about it. She couldn't help it. Damn the coincidences in the world.
Mention of a beach party did somewhat lighten her mood. Nat peered out from under her bucket hat tried to forget everything else. A beach party! That sounded more fun. The thought of Petalburg round the corner and a party was definitely getting her a lot more excitable. The woman finally let a smile onto her face. "Sounds like fun. Are you going to go?"
Post by Julius Kingston on Jun 1, 2015 9:45:11 GMT
The silence that followed was enough for the girl to calm down and seem more or less happier, and Julius was glad for it- it wasn't fun to tease around a person that was already awkward. The girl introduced herself simply, and the way she looked at him was something else and Julius noted it immediately. He decided not to really press further (none of his business, really), and decided to just go with it. "Pleasure meeting you, Nat. Although I think it's short for something more pink and frilly. Natasha?" he asked, jeering her a little but while still maintaining an air of curiosity.
He could only hope he didn't ruin any chances of finding out what her real name was. It wasn't like the bag was a big of a deal, really. He hoped it wasn't. When she smiled at the beach party and asked if he was going to go, he nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, definitely. There'll be fireworks, and we can probably make it just in time for the show." He started walking so that he was right next to her, hands cheerily on the back of his head.
