It’d been a few days and yet here he was still in Littleroot, not that he could really be blamed. Certain things had made it just a tad difficult to leave the little town oh like say the fact that he had no real idea where he was going. He wasn’t a native to Hoenn, had only just started getting comfortable with Johto when he’d gotten that stupid letter and came here. He had a map and everything but…he was still a little nervous about heading out into the routes not that he’d let anyone know that or even pick up on it. Hell he hadn’t even let Alexander pick up on the fact he was nervous about setting foot outside this little town to further explore Hoenn. Oldale was supposedly not too far off from here and he’d scouted route 101 enough that he was kind of comfortable going a certain distance but it was times like now that he really wished he wasn’t alone in this.
His mind flashed an image of Scheherazade and a warm smile curled his lips. Okay so maybe he wasn’t completely alone but still human companion ship would be nice. He really probably should have gone ahead with Alexander but he’d wanted to do a bit more scouting about and catching pokemon. He had known a lot of other people including Alex had more than one pokemon and had been a little uneasy carrying on ahread with only his Ponyta with him for defense. She was a strong girl but Kohaku knew better than to think that was all he would need so he’d waved Alex away and decided to stay…He was really, really beginning to wish he hadn’t. A small sigh escaping his lips as he ran a hand through his fuchsia colored locks, wincing slightly when his fingers caught small tangles.
Kohaku’s mind worked furiously as he considered his options with an unhappy pout. It was either find someone to travel alongside with, take the possibility of getting lost or just stay right here. The last option held no interest for Kohaku, he didn’t come all the way to Hoenn just to give up right in the beginning because of a little directional problems. After all, he wasn’t totally horrible at reading maps, he just…didn’t like the idea of being alone on the roads all that much. The petite androgynous young man was about to let out a little growl when his foot caught on a stone and he was sent stumbling forward right into someone. Instinctively he clung to them for a moment before blushing, slightly flustered he released the person and took a step back with a sheepish grin. “Ah, s-sorry bout that. I tripped.”
He probably should have taken a second to gather himself before venturing off, he knew that, but unfortunately the young man had a habit of acting before thinking it through, which was why he found himself just a tad out of sorts as he wandered route 101. At least... that was where he was moments ago. "This seems new." he muttered to himself as he came close to a treeline, having wandered off the main path when he spotted some wild pokemon. This must have been it, though. He finally found Odale Town! But- Wait a second...
"Are you shitting me?" he groaned. Nope. This was definitely Littleroot... Again... Not that he had anything personal against the small town, but he was getting pretty tired of seeing it. Maybe he should try a little harder and stay on track this time rather than wander off at any distraction. He sighed, resigning to taking another look at the map as if things had changed and he could actually read it this time. Nope. He still had no idea what he was looking at. It seemed quite simple but obviously not simple enough for him to actually follow it like he was supposed to. After glaring looking at it for a good bit he muttered something unintelligible out of frustration before moving to shove the useless thing back in his bag, only to be intercepted as he felt sudden weight on him from out of nowhere.
"What the-?!" his eyes widened, nearly being toppled over but managing to keep upright. Once he'd managed to compose himself, Dex looked down to find he was being clung to. His brow quirked at the sight, a look of confusion and mild annoyance on his face. Shortly after the boy... girl(?) ended up releasing him, managing an apology and an explanation through their obvious embarrassment. After a moment Dexter's expression softened as he released a sigh. "Don't worry about it." he replied, already over it. No harm, no foul, right? Course the map kind of took a bit of damage thanks to him accidentally crumbling it during the impact, but he wasn't going to make much use of it anyway so it didn't count he supposed.
Ignoring the shorty for a moment, he retrieved the map for one last look. He at least recognized that he was supposed to go north. Which might have been useful information if he had a compass on him. He could probably ask for help but he wasn't about to do that. His pride simply wouldn't let him.

Kohaku wasn’t usually clumsy…in fact he was usually rather graceful and was very good with the way he carried himself. It was just…once in a while when he ended up in deep thought that he kind of just forgot about his surroundings. Thus the reason why he’d ended up tripping up and saving himself by almost sending someone else to the ground when he clung to them to steady himself. When he looked up the first thing he noticed before he was able to even begin apologizing was the annoyed look on handsome features. Really it was a shame considering that people who looked as good as—
Oh…
When the male’s features softened upon Kohaku’s apology the smaller male blinked for a moment taken by surprise. He looked much better like that, much better. It made the fuchsia haired young man curious about how much more handsome he would look if he would just smile. Kohaku’s smile grew warmer, the embarrassment melting away from his features in turn for curiosity as he watched the other male. “Ah, but still, sorry about that.” His eyes fell to the crinkled paper in the guys hands and he didn’t realize it was a map until he took a slightly closer look. His eyes darted up to the guys face, studying it for a moment before he asked tentatively. “Are you perhaps…heading to Oldale??” He…couldn’t be that lucky could he?
“Um…I could help if you want. So long as you don’t mind some company.” Ko lifted his shirt the slightest bit sot that the pokeballs would be visible on his belt, a more friendly smile lighting up his features as he let it fall again. Tucking a lock of hair behind his ear distractedly he continued speaking after a moment, “I’m on my way to Petalburg Gym.” His head cocked to the side the slightest as though slightly thoughtful before he offered up his hand for a shake. “My name’s Kohaku by the way. Kohaku Lee-Yan, I just started a few days ago as a trainer.”
Why was this kid staring at him like that? It caused Dex to cock his brow again, quietly wondering if he had something on his face. Before he could actually begin to question that, however, the smaller male seemed to have finally snapped out of it, insisting on the apology which the raven haired teen simply shrugged off. It really wasn't that necessary. Shit happens, no need to dwell on it, yeah? Which was why he'd easily ignored the kid in favor of figuring out what he was supposed to do. In fact he was suprised to find the bright haired male was still there, looking back to him once he spoke.
Dexter's head would tilt slightly at his question, seeming to be just slightly confused. "Uh... Yeah?" Where else would he be heading? Of course with his sense of direction, he might end up managing to somehow find his way back to Kanto. Wouldn't surprise him the least, at this rate. Shortly after, however, the kid offered assistance and the only thing Dex had on his mind was the fact that his dilemma was obvious enough to notice by a complete stranger. That's always good! He did seem to be a trainer though which did seem promising enough if the idea of help wasn't enough already, even if he wouldn't readily admit it.
Regardless of whether or not he'd let this guy tag along though, Kohaku had already made a point to introduce himself with a handshake (one that Dex was only hesitant about for a second before deciding to try to be polite to the first person he'd met here, outside of the professor of course), even revealing the fact he'd only started his journey a few days ago. Small world. Actually it wasn't all that surprising since this opportunity to travel Hoenn seemed to have been offered to plenty of people already.
Still, they appeared to be heading in the same direction... and he was kind of lost... Maybe letting him accompany him wouldn't be such a bad idea. After a moment or so of thought, Dexter decided it was time to say "fuck it" and just let this happen, especially if he wanted to get anywhere. "Sure. I guess you can tag along." he stated, not sounding too enthused but not exactly upset with the arrangement either. He wasn't much of a social butterfly but surely he could manage this. At least until they got to Oldale, right? Yeah!
Already settled on the idea, Dexter already continued to move, expecting Kohaku to follow. "It's Dex, by the way." he finally introduced himself without stopping or even looking behind him, far too focused on getting a move on. He had an entire region to explore. No time to waste!
The guy seemed to debate long and hard about what Kohaku was apparently offering and the young man patiently waited to see what the other would say. He didn’t mind after all this guy didn’t know him, they’d just met and deciding to travel with a complete stranger was a pretty big decision. Hell, if Kohaku himself wasn’t so uncomfortable with the idea of traveling by himself he probably wouldn’t have even suggested it. However, he was and maybe if this person was having as much trouble as he expected him to be having then this could possibly be a good thing. Of course…there was always running the risk that they’d be highly incompatible and they’d end up hating each other before they even got to Oldale.
Cherry-pink eyes studied the other male again and Kohaku mentally chuckled because honestly…this guy was far too good looking for him to hate…at least…he hoped so. Admittedly if the guy said something about his height, looks or just had an all-around horrible personality he supposed it was very possible that even with those swoon inducing looks that he’d hate him. He was yanked from his thoughts when the guy finally spoke up and Kohaku gave him an amused look, playfully parroting him. “Tag along?” He chuckled softly even if the guy didn’t sound so happy about it Kohaku wasn’t going to appear upset. He’d have eye candy throughout the journey and there was nothing better than eye candy that had an adorably abrupt attitude.
He took a few steps forward to follow the guy before…He noticed something off and halted. Just as the guy introduced himself and Kohaku had to chuckle. Hands on his hips and leaning the weight on one leg he gave Dex’s back and amused look. “Dex? That’s all well and good but…Oldale is in the other direction.” It was now just slightly apparent why Dex was so willing to partner with a completely stranger and Kohaku shook his head a little at him. “I think…I best keep hold of the map…or at least until Oldale.” Kohaku had traveled the route enough that he knew the way to Oldale at the very least, although if they ended up sticking together for even farther well…they’d both be in just a bit of shit. He turned and this time he took the lead, not bothering to wait for Dex to follow but glancing over his shoulder as he spoke up once more.
“So you’re obviously not a native to Hoenn. Mind playing twenty-one questions??” His little way of breaking the ice and getting to know someone if he didn’t automatically…you know start being shameless. His lips briefly quirking as he thought of Alex and the obvious sparks that had lit between them no thanks to their teasing nature. He glanced at Dex and decided that no…this guy probably would not be very receptive to that.
@dex / dex calling him kid is hilarious since ko is 21 8'D
Dex might have liked to consider himself to be a pretty cool guy. He had that sort of self-confidence after all. But that didn't mean he couldn't fall short everyonce in a while and reveal just how lame he could be sometimes. For example, Kohaku ended up pointing out his serious lack of direction with a chuckle that made the dark haired teen's face grow slightly redder in embarassment. Fuck. Well this was off to a good start! His brows furrowed before he turned around, not bothering to look at his new travelling companions face as he crossed his arms over his chest. "I knew that..." he tried to argue, a hopeless argument at that. "I was just going to take the scenic route." he went on, an attempt to make himself look like less of an idiot.
When the shorter male suggested he hold onto the map, Dexter hesitated for only a second before sighing and handing the scrunched up map over, unable to really argue there. "Suit yourself." he resigned but really wasn't as upset about it as he was trying to seem. In fact he was pretty relieved. Perhaps he'd have a better chance of deciphering the thing than he possibly could. Certainly couldn't be worse, right? He sure as hell hoped so as he was honestly getting tired of wandering aimlessly. Even Spike had gotten worn out which was why the poor Pokemon was back inside his Pokeball, taking it easy while his trainer relied on a stranger to figure out where he was going.
As Kohaku took the lead, Dex followed shortly behind him like the lost puppy he pretty much was, already trying to figure out a way to salvage his pride a bit. His thoughts were interrupted however as the kid spoke again, pointing out the fact he wasn't local. "Ouch... That obvious?" he chuckled dryly. He had no idea what he was doing and apparently it was obvious enough that this strange guy seemed to catch on pretty quick. Not that it was at all difficult, he supposed. At his proposal of a game to sort of get to know each other, the teen quirked a brow again. Honestly, Dexter was never too crazy about talking about himself too much. Rather, he was never really that great at it, as strange as it might have sounded. Still, he supposed he could humor him, if only to distract himself from his embarrassment and keep any awkward silence at bay. "Fine." he stated simply with a nonchalant shrug, not much of a talker. He had a feeling that Kohaku would manage to make up most of the conversation though and he wasn't sure how he felt about that just yet.
"Are you local?" he decided to start while that question was still fresh on his mind. It also might have helped to know if this guy really would be a good guide or if he was just as lost to this region as he was.

Oh he was adorable in his attempt to save some face. Kohaku bit his lip in attempt to stop the laugh that wanted to tumble from his lips. Instead he gave the other male a long look before letting out a soft indulgent hum of acknowledgement to his insistence that he knew he was going the wrong way. The way he crossed his arms over his chest did nothing to lessen Ko’s amusement, only heightening it and making it so that he had to turn away so he wouldn’t laugh in the poor guys face. Kohaku had his own battles with his pride so he knew how Dex felt but…he just couldn’t help how amusing it was to him, especially since he was cute. Letting out a puff of breath to move a stray bang from his eye sight and using it to hide a soft breath of laughter, Ko tilted his head just slightly and waited to be given the map not bothered by the hesitation.
The fuchsia haired young man blinked and bit his lip again at the utterly resigned way the other spoke as he handed over the map. Rolling his eyes in amusement Kohaku waved it off with an entertained, “You say that like I’m going to put you in a worse position than you already were.” Teasing gently at the rather obvious show that Dex wasn’t very good with directions but not outright saying anything about it. It was cute and endearing to see that the rather distant male had a quality that was so silly and common, made him seem more approachable. “I’m just glad there’s something approachable about you.” He meant it as a compliment, meaning that he was relieved that the other had a likeable quality about him. It wasn’t entirely bad, especially since he could have ended up with worse traits then maybe being a little bad with directions.
Kohaku chuckled softly at Dexter’s words about it being obvious and the petite male shrugged his shoulders slightly, glancing over at the other male as they walked. “Only to someone who’s worn that look a couple of times before already.” Once when he’d moved to Johto and had no idea where anything was at and then again when he’d come here and was learning the path to Oldale. Leaning over to show the map to Dex he pointed to a spot on Route 101 close to Oldale as he spoke, “I’ve gotten this far but I’ve had to come back because of wild pokemon and other trainers. So I already know a bit of the path up to this point but the rest of the way should be easy.” He pulled back and looked at Dex, blinking when he agreed to playing his little icebreaker having fully expected to be shot down. However, he wasn’t and Dex even asked his own question although he had no doubt it was because Kohaku himself had been poking fun at him earlier.
Grinning indulgently, Kohaku shook his head a little before he shrugged slightly. “Nah, I’m probably just as new to this place as you are but I’m used to being in new places and adapting.” After all he’d gone from China to Johto and now from Johto to Hoenn so he supposed he’d done enough traveling to have learned to adapt. He let out a thoughtful hum as he thought of his own questions before perking up a bit as he asked, “What kind of pokemon do you have?” Pokemon made Kohaku curious, especially since his own Ponyta was a vibrant happy filly and she could be so different compared to others.
Oh boy. They'd just met and Dex was already finding the kid a bit annoying. Of course he wouldn't let him live that down so soon. Better to just stay silent and endure, which he was already in the habit of doing anyway so it wasn't too hard. His next words did garner a reaction out of him though, the raven haired teen tilting his head slightly. "What's that supposed to mean?" No he really wasn't sure how he was supposed to take that. Oh who was he kidding? He knew he was pretty much a social repellent. He'd never had someone be so blunt about it before. He wasn't angry, no, just surprised.
He did feel slightly less embarrassed when Kohaku admitted to wearing 'that look' before though, even though he was still slightly sore about the whole teasing. Not enough to change his mind about letting him join him though, which was a start.
At the very least, this guy knew how to get to Odale town and that was really all he was asking for at this point. Well.. He sort of knew anyway, how to get to route 101 at the very least. But if he had a better time reading maps then he did, he guessed there wasn't too much to worry about. Just hope for the best!
Dexter wasn't too surprised to hear that he was also new. In fact he kind of had to expect it since new trainers were coming in everyday to take advantage of the local professors offer. It was only natural to assume that everyone who was venturing from Littleroot was new, but it was nice to have the confirmation nonetheless. Unlike Kohaku though, Dexter wasn't so adjusted to being in such new territory. Even back in Kanto, he didn't venture too far from Pewter City since he didn't have Pokemon of his own to journey with, so this was totally a new experience for him. It wasn't too bad though. He was sure he'd enjoy it much more once he figured out where he was going.
His next question did surprise the trainer a bit though and Dex found himself looking down to the belt that hung off his hip. "He's a poochyena." he explained, half tempted to send the pokemon out but refraining. Spike was still probably tired and he'd honestly rather let him rest a bit before sending him out again, especially since he was to blame for tiring him out with all the running around. "His name's Spike." he went on, whether or not Kohaku wanted this information or not. If there was one thing that made the distant male happy, it was pokemon.
Now to turn the tables. "How about you?" Obviously he'd have to have one. He was curious as to what his partner was, knowing that there were plenty of pokemon out there to choose from.

Kohaku was blunt and forward even shameless at times. He didn’t believe in holding back and he certainly didn’t see why he shouldn’t let people know how it was after all people should always be more honest with themselves and others. Of course that meant once in a while he got in trouble because of his mouth or someone took what he said the wrong way and got pissed. Then again sometimes he meant for himself to be hurtfully blunt to people cause seriously there was some people that deserved them but in this situation it wasn’t the case at all as he gave the taller male fleeting glance as he continued looking at the map. Smiling cheekily he shrugged slightly as he quipped. “I just mean that you just seem more human since you can make mistakes.” He chuckled softly, looking up completely from the map as he spoke up, “I don’t mean it in a bad way. It’s a compliment.”
Living in Johto after his parents had divorced had been a large change for him, one he hadn’t taken to immediately considering how many fights he got into daily. Thinking back on it he felt bad for contributing to his mother’s stress and causing so much trouble for her when she too was trying to get used to the sudden move to Johto and without her daughter. Nine years…almost ten since he’d moved to Johto and got separated from his older sister. Kohaku forcefully shook himself from those thoughts, stubborn enough not to want to think about that just yet or why it’d happened in the first place. Instead he refocused his attention on Dex and what his answers were to his question.
One pokemon then and a Poochyena at that, it made Kohaku grin and his nose crinkled lightly at the gesture. “Spike? That’s a cute name. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Poochyena in person. Maybe someday I’ll get the chance to see yours?” He chuckled lightly when the question was turned on him and unthinkingly he passed a hand over the pokeball that held his own pokemon. Tossing the pokeball a few times in the air as a fond smile curled his lips the cherry-pink haired young man replied after a moment, “Scheherazade is my ponyta and so far the only pokemon I’ve managed to get.” He was pretty happy with just her though seeing as she was his very first pokemon and she was doing him proud so far. They’d bonded rather well in those first two days, her jolly personality easing endearing him to her and the complete trust in her bonding the Ponyta to him.
Tapping his cheek thoughtfully, he took another glance at the map before folding it up and shoving it in his back pocket as he walked. “Okay then, How old are you? You look like you could be around my age~” He grinned at the other male, wondering if he was possibly right and Dex was close to his age considering he looked it.
More human? He wondered what he'd originally looked like and quite honestly still couldn't tell if that were meant to be a positive thing to take, but after Kohaku assured him it was in fact a compliment, he decided to drop it. "Well thanks... I guess?" He didn't really care anymore, but he'd try to take the compliment, since they didn't come around all that often. Even if it came with a side of pointing out his mistakes. He shrugged at the thought, tucking his hands into his pockets as he walked on, along side Kohaku now.
He smiled slightly as they spoke about the tiny dog who was likely snoozing away right now, enjoying a nice, well-deserved nap. At his question of whether or not he might be able to see the poochyena someday, Dexter simply shrugged once again. "I guess if you really wanted to." Considering they were heading the same way it would seem, he was sure there would be a chance to meet the mischievous Spike. And maybe he'd be able to have a chance to see his ponyta too, the pokemon peeking his interest. "I haven't actually seen a ponyta in a while either." he admitted. The last time he'd saw one was when he was a kid. His uncle had brought him to a ranch and they had been among one of the many pokemon he'd meet that day. He half wondered if that ranch was still around. But he dropped that thought soon enough, especially since the shorty ended up shooting another question.
"Eighteen." Quick and to the point. He'd actually turned eighteen only a couple of months ago, but had been told before that he looked like he could pass for a couple years older. Now if only that was enough for him to get into places that were otherwise legal. A kid could dream. "Close?" he questioned, unintentionally wasting one of his questions. He looked maybe... fifteen? Maybe younger? He couldn't tell, but he certainly couldn't be older than him, that was for sure!

Kohaku could probably live off those rare little smiles as he blinked in mild shock at its appearance upon their talk about pokemon, more specifically his. However, he shook himself out of it and looked forward again smiling lightly as well as he shrugged his shoulders. “It’d definitely be cool to see. Maybe if we catch more pokemon along the way we can even have a friendly battle with them.” Kohaku was always up for a little battle especially with all these trainers around and needing to strengthen his own pokemon for the gym in petalburg. His attention was stolen away from those thoughts though when Dex spoke up about not having seen a Ponyta in a while. The smaller male gave him a curious look but decided he’d pester him about it later seeing as he didn’t want to use up a question on something he could probably find out later down the line, especially if they ended staying traveling together.
The cherry-pink haired young man gave a small sound of surprise at Dex’s age and tapped his cheek thoughtfully. A little surprised that he was a few years younger than him but he supposed he shouldn’t be too surprised considering his own situation and he murmured unthinkingly, “Ah…so you’re actually younger…” Kohaku folded his hands behind his back before the brunette’s unthinking question caused him to scowl lightly and huff. He really should get used to that reaction, it was right alongside being mistaken for a girl and being called short. It had a tendency of annoying him but not as much as the other two things. Shrugging his shoulders and not looking at Dex knowing what his reaction would be and not feeling the need to get annoyed just yet Ko answered breezily, “I’m actually twenty-one. Although I tend to get mistaken for younger…I blame good genes for that…and getting mistaken for a girl.”
There was a slight edge to his words, the topic always tending to get to him as there were a few memories mixed in with that ‘mistake’ that riled him. He brushed it off though and grinned over at Dex cheekily, “You used up a question, my turn now.” He hummed thoughtfully as he returned his eyes to the road, taking in the people they passed and the buildings. They’d be getting to the edge of Littleroot soon and then they’d be entering Route 101 which wasn’t too bad. “Ah, since we’re getting close to Route 101 is there anything you need to get before we head out??” As an afterthought he added quickly and almost childishly, “That one doesn’t count.”
Fuchsia eyes locked with the other male’s eyes as he finally figured out what he wanted to ask now and he gave the other a rather serious look. “This is very important to the future of our traveling companionship…” He let a dramatic pause linger before he asked in a subdued tone, “What…kind of pokemon is you favorite?” A wide grin split across his lips and a small laugh escaped, playfulness returning to his features as he turned so that he was walking backwards facing Dex.
@dex / "your right...cause its fucking hilarious when you get lost"
The mention of a battle did peek his interest but Dexter of course didn't say nothing of it, giving another shrug. If it happened, it happened, though he could certainly use the chance to train, so what better way to do that with someone you knew? ... Knew for like ten minutes but that wasn't the point, was it? Regardless if the opportunity came, he didn't see himself rejecting it, but he wasn't about to make any promises either.
Dexter looked down to Kohaku then with a confused look on his face, unsure if he heard him right at first thanks to his muttering. Even when he stated it more clearly the taller teen still was skeptical. "No. Seriously." he chuckled. It kind of defeated the point of this game if the answers were false, after all, and he could hardly see this kid being eighteen, let alone twenty one! But there was a bite to those words and he didn't seem to be joking around, even admitting to the fact it was a common for his age to be mistaken. As well as his gender. Well no lie there. Dex himself had a hard time deciphering it at first, since Kohaku did appear pretty feminine. Maybe it did contribute to his younger looks.
Still, Dexter had a hard time believing it but before he could try asking him again, the 'older' male had moved the subject aside, claiming that he'd used up his question. He groaned, shaking his head in disbelief. "Whatever..." Didn't matter to him, really. He was starting to run out of questions anyway. But shortly after, Kohaku asked his own question which apparently didn't count. "That's such bullshit." he began, rolling his eyes. "But, no. I should be fine." He could probably use some more stuff but he figured he could make it to Odale and grab some things there if he really needed it. "If you want to stop real quick I don't mind waiting." he explained. He'd like to get going right away, but he was going to try to be a little accommodating, especially since Kohaku could very well be his only way to the next town. It might be a good idea to try to be nice to him.
But then it came to the actual question which apparently was quite serious, causing Dexter to be a bit taken back by that expression he wore. "Uhm... Okay?" he said with uncertainty, not sure when things turned so dramatic. He was actually kind of concerned about what this question was. Which was why he was taken off guard a bit when he finally asked. "How is that important?" he questioned before quickly interjecting before he could pull that shit again. "That doesn't count." he sighed, scratching the back of his head.
"That's a pretty loaded question..." he admitted, not actually having an answer. He didn't think he really had a favorite yet, not really having the chance to see all the different kinds of pokemon out there. "I'll have to get back to you on that one." he answered simply, kind of avoiding the question but not without reason. He just really didn't know yet. "Sorry?" he offered, not actually sounding that apologetic. Actually he was pretty stonefaced too so it was hard to tell how genuine that was.
"Where you from?" he decided to ask, reminded it was his turn now. Sometimes you forgot that there were other places out there aside from your own. He kind of hoped to have the chance to travel the world more. Maybe if he survived this region he might have to look into checking out others.
Kohaku let out a little huff of breath and gave the other male a look but his lip twitched in mild amusement knowing he didn’t really mean it in the way others did. “I know a lot of people find it hard to believe. I swear it’s my real age though.” He had the proof too cause most of the time he got carded anyway when he tried to buy liquor so he’d ended up just getting a damn id. It had been exasperating and just a little discouraging so it’d made him a little sore towards anyone poking fun at his youthful looks on top of all the other things that got him pissed off. However, he brushed off Dex’ tone not really too bothered by it and noting that he must have caught on to his earlier tone cause he didn’t take it further and he appreciated that.
At the accusation of him saying that his question about supplies was bullshit the shorter male laughed lightly. “Hey it was a question of me being considerate not a question involved with the game.” At Dex’s words returning the gesture Ko gave him a grateful smile before shaking his head slightly and patting his side bag lightly. “I’m all good. Restocked just before bumping into you honestly.” Chuckling lightly and humming nonsense he chirped merrily, “Thank you though….for being considerate…and for bringing me along even though I’m a complete stranger.” His eyes slid to the taller male with a little lopsided smile, having just realized he hadn’t actually thanked the other male.
Lifting his hands in an ‘I surrender’ gesture and laughing lightly when the younger male said his question didn’t count quickly he let it slide this time. Shrugging his shoulders playfully he quipped, “Fine, it doesn’t count.” He gave the brunette a thoughtful look before simply shrugging his shoulders with a playful smile. “Everyone has a favorite granted there are those who don’t know or don’t care all that much for pokemon.” He shrugged once more, not really caring for those of the latter type. His mind briefly reminded of his father before he brushed the thought aside once more and ignored the prickling sensation in his chest. His attention once more on the male beside him as Dex spoke up in answer to his question.
“Fair enough, I guess I should suspected as much.” He chuckled lightly before he blinked and gave the other male a strange but amused look. “What are you apologizing about??” Shaking his head he rolled his eyes this time and chirped, “Its fine, not like it’s that serious.” However, he was a little taken off guard by his next question and blinked at him before humming thoughtfully as he tried to figure out what to tell before shrugging his shoulders. “Originally?? China but I moved to Johto around twelve or thirteen so I guess you can say I’m from Johto now.” He grinned crookedly and decided to turn the question on Dex asking curiously, “And you? Where are you from??”
Excuses, excuses. Dexter still seemed pretty skeptical about such poor reasoning but he shrugged it off, not really caring that much about it. About the game in general, to be honest. He was only playing along to make this trip go by faster. At least that was the plan. Regardless, it seemed like they could move on without delay which was always good. He hadn't expected a thank you out of asking though, looking down to the shorter male with a puzzled look as he spoke before averting his glance. "Don't mention it." No, seriously. He had a reputation to keep up. Besides, if it didn't benefit him in some way, he wouldn't have even considered letting Kohaku come along. It sounded quite rude, but it was the simple truth.
He still wasn't entirely sure how his question was at all as important as he'd tried to make it seem, but he did sort of get it. Kohaku had nothing to worry about cause the grumpy teen cared very much about pokemon. He'd just yet to find one he liked the most. Spike would probably like to think he was the favorite though and at this rate he couldn't necessarily deny that one. He chuckled at the thought. Still, he didn't appear to be bothered by the lack of real answer, even going as far as to question his apology. He simply shrugged it off, figuring it wasn't important enough to worry about if he didn't think it was necessary. Apparently it wasn't as important as he'd said it was, the broody male shaking his head in disbelief. What a little jerk.
Kohaku certainly had more travel experience than he had though, going from China to Johto and then here. Yeah, he might have been more easy to adapt to this new region than he would. Hoenn wasn't bad though, not at all. It was just going to take some getting used to, that was for sure. As the question was turned though, Dexter sighed, "I've lived in Kanto for as long as I can remember." Whether or not he lived anywhere else before was but a mystery to him, along with his elusive parents. Not that it mattered at all. "Not as much travel experience." he admitted.
Oh... It was his turn again, wasn't it? "Uh... Are you a righty or a lefty?" he spoke the first thing that came to mind, clearly running out of good questions. He wasn't too good at this game, apparently, but he was trying at any rate, which was saying a whole lot.

Kohaku laughed merrily, well aware his playful streak had struck again when he’d asked about the pokemon. While yes it was rather important it wasn’t as dramatically important as he’d made it seem although it had certainly been humorous to watch him look all uncertain. He’d even gotten an apology from the grumpy teenager beside him and he felt like that was definitely an accomplishment. If they continued traveling together the rose-pink haired young man had no doubt he’d have tons of fun just messing with the younger male and teasing him. He really was just too cute with how he had this stoic front yet could let out a few chuckles here and there.
Like right now when they’d been talking about pokemon and he’d allowed a little chuckle at whatever he’d thought about. It was cute and Ko thought it was definitely something the younger male should do more of but kept that to himself. Obviously the brunette was determined to appear stoic so he certainly wasn’t going to be someone who ruined that…well not much anyway.
The fuchsia haired young man let out a little hum of acknowledgement as his question was answered and he gave the taller male a thoughtful look. “It must be nice…to have just lived in one place for so long.” His head tilted slightly as he gave Dex another thoughtful look because…what if that had been him? What if he’d never gone to Johto and had stayed in China?? Would he still be here? His mind flashed images of Cain and Ai as well as all the other friends he’d made in Johto as well as his little filly. No…knowing that man he probably wouldn’t have ever been able to get here and be who he was now so he supposed he was grateful to all his traveling. “Traveling experience isn’t all it’s cracked up to be but…” He gave the other a cheeky grin as he murmured, “It’s definitely fun. I’m sure once you get a good solid team under your belt you’ll get tons of traveling done.”
He blinked at Dex’s question before letting out a little laugh, shaking his head just a bit before waving his right hand just a tad mockingly. “Righty all the way I’m afraid. Although…” He paused and looked at his left hand thoughtfully before he shrugged. “I can use my left hand for some things too but mostly my right I guess.” He opened his mouth to continue but noticed where they were and where they were approaching. Pointing towards a dirt path surrounded by trees not far from them he spoke up. “There’s the path to Route 101. We’re going to be leaving Littleroot now.”
