hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

She looks back when she hears a thud on the ground, scowling in disdain at the sight she sees. She's a goddamn embarrassment, unable to keep up on her tiny little feet. "Get up," she snarls at Skadi. She is hardly the embodiment of her name. There is no class in her walk and she waddles on stumpy legs like a foolish chump. The Snorunt looks like she's on the brink of tears when they finally struggle onto their two feet. Adelaide spares her a second's glance and keeps walking.
"We've got no time to waste around in this dump," she states pointedly, "Many many things to do and we're behind schedule. Get that gait of yours in line and hurry up." She makes her demands clear. Weak things don't deserve her pity or her time. If there's anything Adelaide knows, she wants to get this over and down with, make the process as painless as possible. She's not going to find any vermin here. No chump hangs around Littleroot looking for sweet faces to pick up.
Because, you know, if they do that, they're actually big fat losers. She crosses the threshold between Littleroot and Route 101, no mood for any of that spirited first journey jitters. Because those are for chumps too.
for some reason he's back on route 101 again. it's a route he often found himself coming back to. maybe it was the nostalgia. maybe it was the nice weather. he didn't know. but here he was. this time he had his growlithe walking next to him. he's had cuddles since he was a kid. and he loves him.
his ears picked up a familiar voice. he walked over to the source of it to see his sister and her new pokemon. he watched from a distance as the snorunt was struggling to keep up with her. adelaide was always ruthless. he felt a bit sorry for the snorunt.
his foot stepped on a loose branch. ah, he was usually quite good with sneaking around. he sighed and revealed himself. cuddles followed.
"i understand why your ex left now," he laughed. he looked at the poor snorunt and then back at her. "maybe you should be a bit nicer, sis."

skadi walks like she has two left feet and it's embarrassing. adelaide can't bring herself to watch her any longer. she turns away and keeps marching along the route with her arms crossed, light hair bouncing past her shoulders. "keep moving, keep moving," she barks orders out loud, not even bothering to turn around to watch skadi.
she keeps her ears trained on the greenery, watching out for any wild pokemon. she's not expecting to find any ice-types here. hoenn boasts sweltering heat that just causes ice-types to stay far away. when a branch snaps, she turns her entire body in a defensive stance, one hand reaching for the utility knife she has tucked on a garter. fighting instincts kick in.
adelaide pauses, then eases from her position and snorts at the sight of her precocious little brother. "look what the meowth dragged in." she has her eyes narrowed on cuddles the growlithe. how precious, she thinks. her own domesticated pichu had been lovingly cared for and overfed until it died. hardly a nice memory, but honestly, ade thinks that the rodent wasn't going to make it anyway.
rory's looking to pick a fight, bringing up her ex like that. she scowls at him, half tempted to test her blade against his face. "only if you stop existing, but i guess you can't get enough of me if you're following me."
she keeps a hand on her hip while she examines her nails. skadi bounces over to stand by her mistress. "care to explain yourself, chump?'
rory laughed at her remark about him following her. please, he has better things to do than to follow her. but it would be nice to catch up a bit. maybe share some stories about recent events.
his eyes picked up her hand placement. one hand on her hip. so she does still have that stupid knife with her. "are your senses failing you?" he asked. he trailed her for a bit back then. he was surprised she didn't pick up his movements. "i was following you for a while."
the poor snorunt caught up to them and stood next to her. he remembered her pichu. overfed and dead. he wondered how long this one will last. "i just wanted to catch up with my lovely big sis," he smirked.
rory then gestured over to a nearby tree that provided some much needed shade. cuddles made his way over there first, but rory stood his ground.

"i've been a little busy whipping this sorry excuse of a pokemon into shape," she retorts, looking unimpressed at the pokemon bumbling at her feet. as if she'll give rory the time of day. she doesn't have time to be fussing over petulant little siblings who can't tie their shoelaces or walk straight.
she narrows her eyes when he sings praise of her. rory is never nice, as far as she recalls. there's always a catch. "well, i'm glad you finally see the light," she speaks narcissistically, all high and mighty, "took you long enough." a smirk plays on the corner of her lips. adelaide plays him into her hands, the way she wants it.
her. ade has a pretty damn good idea of who he's referring to, but she's also not really interested in rory's sex life. "which one was she again? i lost count after the first hundred, i think." she plays it off with a laugh. "when have you ever needed my advice anyway? knowing you, you'll do the exact opposite and fuck it up."
typical of her to take what he said as a compliment. really it was just to get her to converse and not kick him away for his earlier remark about her ex. he just replied with a smile and a shrug of the shoulder.
"first hundred?" he snorted, "number's like a thousand now." that wasn't a thing he should be bragging about. the real number was definitely high, but it didn't reach a hundred that's for certain. he's not crazy. he has standards too, even if they're a bit low.
but she does have a point. he wasn't one to take any sort of advice to heart. he usually just brushed it off and did his own thing. but he liked to vent about his feelings. one outlet was his sister.
"your insight means a lot," he joked. whatever. he didn't need her approval to vent. "what did you do to your ex again? i need to do the opposite of that," he said. he kept his guard up. big sis had a reputation of being a bit violent at times.
"believe it or not i'm in an actual relationship. with cass. and i think i already fucked it up."

she gives him a look of disgust at how proudly he admits to having had a thousand. rory is a meathead and a needy sex addict in her books, so she's not entirely surprised. she makes a gagging face and scoffs. "gross." she doesn't even try to be the least bit nice about it. she can't stop rolling her eyes at her little brother because he's such a baby.
"laying it on too thick," she points out, idly playing with her hair. skadi has her eyes on cuddles, eager to play with the growlithe. she peers over rory like a shy little schoolgirl. "i did nothing to him. which was a crying shame; i could have ripped his dick off or something." she looks over her nails, cleaned and free of dirt beneath the nail beds. "i loved him, he fucked up, i hated him. the end." tons of crying and emotionless nights in the company of strangers, but she's over him and she's not planning to divulge the last bit to her brother.
adelaide's not entirely surprised to hear it's cass. the two of them have been going on and off about it for years. teenager adelaide thought it was cute. grown woman adelaide mclain thought they needed to get over themselves. "so, what's your record, three days?" she jokes, finding herself funny.
rory cringed at the thought. big sis was much more violent than him. she would make a good leader too. he was surprised she hasn't made any effort into joining magma or aqua yet. or even the rangers. she could definitely do some damage as leader. or maybe even an aqua admin?
"how did he fuck up?" he questioned. they've talked about it before but he doesn't remember their conversations most of the time. he was just here to vent his feelings. he rarely listened. "he fuck around?" he asked.
he thought about his record. he took it as a joke but he was curious about it as well. if he excluded the teenager days then yeah. probably around three days. the one with cass now wasn't even a week yet. but she doesn't know just yet.
"a bit longer than that. i fucked another girl. should i tell her or keep it hush hush?"

rory confirms himself to actually be the biggest fucking idiot in the world. adelaide stares at him and swings a fist at him deftly. "you fucking dolt," she growls. it's rory, she reasons, he's bound to do something stupid like this, but she's still angry. like when her ex broke the news to her. her fists remained clenched, and skadi flinches at the sight. ade is craving to see blood being spilled right now, even if it's her little brother's.
"man up," she commands her snorunt, but she's indirectly referring to her brother as well. adelaide rolls her eyes, both hands on her hips as she looks to the sky as though the answers are there for her. "i don't even have an answer for your question. if you were my ex, i'd be ripping your dick off right now." she knits her brow tightly. she's actually at loss for what to do. it's not rory's first time, she shouldn't need to be babying him, and he does this all the damn time that she's sick of trying to help him pick up the pieces.
skadi lets out a small whine and adelaide shoves her boot at the snorunt. "i got a question that your tiny lil brain should be able to answer. do you love cass or not? like, seriously?"
he actually saw the punch coming. he knew it was bound to happen. but he let her hit him anyways. the punch landed square on his jaw and sent him back a few spaces. his big sis knew how to punch. heck, she threw punches better than most of the guys he knew.
"very violent," he commented. he didn't even have to think of a response to her question. the first thing that came to his mind was yes, he does love her. but he also loves fucking around. he doesn't know what to do.
"i do," he replied. he almost said no to andrea. it started with a couple of pictures, and those were easy enough to resist. but when the address came it was too much. he couldn't resist the temptation.
cuddles flinched when he saw ade shoving her boot at the snorunt. he let out a small growl before turning away from them, opting instead to face the open field.
"you can't tell her about this, alright?" he asked, "i love dicking around but i do love her."

ade's seething. she doesn't see rory, her stupid little brother that keeps fucking up time and time again; she sees theman that stopped working at the relationship they shared for a night's passion and screwed himself over by crossing paths with her. her brow twitches as she tries to keep herself composed in front of rory, although it's proving to be a very difficult task. he has a face that practically begs to be punched.
"okay," she exhales with a certain note of finality in her voice. "i'm giving you two options. you tell me who the fuck this other girl is. i'll hunt her down and i'll kill her. dead men tell no tales." she reaches for her knife, touches its blade and it brings her a thrilling comfort and a certain sense of bloodlust. she's never had to kill someone before, but she's well read for the situation.
"if you don't like that, here's your second option - leave cass alone," she says with deadpan seriousness. "if you love the girl, you'll spare her the pain of dealing with your fuckboy bullshit and let her find someone else who ain't gonna break her heart for the hundredth time." adelaide folds her arms across her chest, "because evidently, your dick has a mind of its own and you're also a terrible person who doesn't deserve her."
she could be wrong. cass could be an ass, although in this situation, it's probably better to just paint rory as the ultimate bad guy and make the decision making process a lot less painful.
any time rory wanted to make ade mad all he had to do was either bring up her ex or fuck around. he was always doing the second. but that might change soon. he has to change, right? he needs help. maybe even professional help. he just can't keep it in his pants.
the two options she gave him were both equally ridiculous. if he had to choose he'd pick the first one. but he wasn't going to choose. rory wishes he could say that ade was all bark and no bite, but that wasn't true. she however hasn't killed before. he's quite sure of it. so she can play around with her blade all day long; it doesn't scare him. it only made him smile.
"yeah your options are idiotic. even if you kill her there will be others," he said. he doesn't even want to talk about the second. because he tried that once. and it was tough.
"okay so i won't tell her what i did," he said, "but i'll try to stop fucking around."
he gave his big sis a cocky chukle. "deal?" he asked. he obviously doesn't take her seriously. why should he?

rory takes her for a fool, but she knows that she can fell him if she puts her back to the job. he throws both her ideas out without thinking. in retrospect, they're pretty dumb, but they're also hard truths that this baby won't swallow. "third option. i kill you and everyone lives a lot happier," she snarls without thinking twice. she has no true affection for her brother. he's stolen attention from her since he was a child, one way or another. there's no reason for her to like him and his dick waving ways.
she scoffs at his decision. "try?" she mocks, "shall i castrate you so that you'll never repeat your mistakes?" she's never castrated anyone before because she doesn't need to be on the wrong side of the law, but little bro has always been her guinea pig for dressup and the like. this is no different, right? the bloodlust sends a euphoric tingle down her spine and she shivers inwardly with excitement.
adelaide doles out a solid punch to rory's gut. she's not quite as tall as him but she can definitely sock him in the general area. lower if she bends down. "you'd better. or i'll find cass. and i'll tell her myself." she narrows her eyes. her threats are never empty. give her a job and she'll see to its execution and follow up. honestly, she doesn't know why she bothers. it's like talking to a wall, and she's sure rory's going to fuck around again because being a fuckboy runs in his blood.
that means it runs in her blood as well, but she dismisses it. she'd rather not have herself compared against her disgrace of a little brother. "answer to yourself," she grumbles. she's not keeping track of his bullshit, and she has no sisterly obligations whatsoever. skadi looks at her and she looks back at the snorunt. she wants to get the hell out of this dump asap.
rory's been the center of attention since he was born. so much so that ade's gotten sick of it and even tried to distance herself from the family. she doesn't take their money. rory finds it weird as shit. but whatever, more money for him.
"please don't--" a punch to the gut was all it took to get him to shut up and listen. he didn't see that one coming. he stumbled backwards and laughed it off. he clutched his abdomen and shook his head.
"alright alright." he sighed and whistled for cuddles to return. the growlithe got up and walked back over to him. rory stared at ade and smiled. "i'll change."
and this time he meant it. sleeping with andrea was the last time he'll ever do it again. he doesn't want to hurt cass more than he already has.

rory says it with a smile on his face that threatens to make her smile as well. but ade doesn't do it. the scowl on her face deepens because she doesn't believe him. rory says one thing and does the exact opposite. the same scene has replayed over and over again that she doesn't really listen to any of the promises he makes any more. it's just easier for her to assume that it'll all fail and he'll come crying back to her. it also does wonders for her ego, so she's not complaining.
"not what i'd call nice," she scoffs, "but whatever. i'm not sticking around this dump." she's found the chump she was talking about, after all. there's a sour taste in her mouth that makes her want to hurl. just thinking about rory's habits disgusts her. fuckboys are the actual worst thing to walk this earth.
adelaide looks at skadi and points to the route. "start walking. at the rate you walk, i'll catch up in no time." her orders are clear, and the snorunt nods dutifully, hurriedly tottering down the route as fast as her stubby little feet can carry her. "go sort your own fucking mess out," she drones, bored of having to baby rory herself. her boots hit the dirt and she starts walking again. there's nothing here, and it's a waste of time. adelaide is out of here.
