adelaide is bulldozing through these routes. time is like money for her, and she can't afford to waste any just dawdling around. she thinks oldale is a farce, parading around as an idyllic town with little traffic. she sticks around for five minutes before she heads along the west route onto 102. the trees look the same, there are no wild pokemon in sight, and skadi is still walking like a fool.
she's not sure why she tries so hard. "left, right, left right," she instructs, tapping her feet impatiently. skadi listens and does as she is told. they're seeing a little bit of improvement. adelaide thinks it's not enough. "work on it," she snaps, still feeling irritable. she's itching for a battle to test skadi's physical strength, but there's hardly anyone in sight, so she doesn't have her hopes up.
ooc - 1v1 battle or talk to her she'll tell u the dirt bout her lil bro :u

It's rare that he bites off more than he can chew, however there were days where he finds himself in these situations where he can only ask, 'how did this happen?' Today was turning out to be one of those days. It was only yesterday he'd obtained a scyther one of the coolest pokemon he'd known about in all of his years of evening knowing pokemon, and somehow the pokemon had managed to evolve into scizor a pokemon he caters to even more than its pre-evolution, The issue however is that the larger red bug isn't interested in listening to him in the slightest. Not that steel type dislikes his trainer he's just far more keen when it comes to doing his own thing, much to the trainers dismay. Currently it was picking berries off a berry tree using its pincers to cut down berries for the two of them. In its eyes the trainer should have been appreciate the pokemon was sharing, and perhaps he might have been if they hadn't gone halfway down the wrong route to get the berries. He was hoping on heading to Rustboro today, but the bladed pokemon was much more interested in Oldale town apparently thus the duo finds themselves on route 102.
It's now when another oran berry falls atop his head from above that he hears a rhythmic pattern coming towards him from the direction of Oldale, a woman counting the steps as they walked. She seems halfway annoyed about something, but regardless the red headed trainers offers a greeting a nervous smile on his face, "Morning! Would you like some berries?" he offers first thing seeing as the scizor had now climbed the tree relaxing in it for the moment. Having cut down far too many berries in the process, or at least far too many to eat alone.
Notes: We can battle if you want, but I'm also good for a casual. Notes: Scizor do what it wants tbh.

she's stopped paying attention to skadi's awkward gait, preferring to focus on the road ahead. adelaide makes her calculations - if she keeps going at this rate, she can be along to petalburg by sunset. her eyes flit towards the trees, then the bushes, wondering if there are pokemon lurking around here... she's not betting on much. she wants skadi trained, but she's also not particularly interested in any old wurmple or zigzagoon. she has no time to train silly things like those.
adelaide hears a voice and looks up, quick to go on the defensive. she can never be sure with other people. most people don't exactly fit on her books in terms of trustworthiness. skadi peers up curiously at the huge red bug flitting around, snipping berries right off the trees and looks on in wonder. she eyes the berries hungrily. "i'll take some," she answers. she wants to keep them for later use, but skadi looks like she's hungering for them. she's strict, but she's not cruel to abuse her pokemon and deprive them of biological needs. maybe after a bit of training though.
although, adelaide's more interested in the scizor. she's got her apprehension of bugs, like a sissy does, but she doesn't consider it a weakness. "that's a fine pokemon you have there," she remarks. she's almost tempted to stab the guy and run off with his pokemon, but alas, all she has is skadi. if he already has a scizor, he's a force to be reckoned. a good ally to make, too.

He's pleased she's taking some of the berries off his hands, as he's never been one to be wasteful. He hands her about five berries or so as the bladed pokemon above gets comfortable in the tree... Or rather 'his' tree now. The trainer learned early on the larger pokemon was very possessive. Anything that it'd come in contact with seemed to be his: The metal coat Miles bought, the tree he was relaxing in, and even Miles himself was property to the pokemon. The pokemon was so possessive in fact that piercing yellow eyes seemed to be fixed on the female trainer and her pokemon as they interacted with his trainer, eating his berries. The trainer glances up at the bug pokemon shooting the steel type a sideways glance. "Don't pay him any mind he's just..." The trainer searches for a word shrugging halfheartedly all the while. "Pouting." Another berry smacks him from above as the man speaks, before the bug pokemon makes an indignant sound all the while, obviously disagreeing with his appraisal. "Rude." He mumbles under his breath before focusing on the woman whom he's long since identified as a trainer or something of the like
"I could say the same about the Snorunt honestly." It was a native Hoenn pokemon he knew having studied it slightly earlier in his youth, they were typically found on the other side of the region hidden in some caves around Mossdeep if he remembered correctly. Something about Hoenn weather not suitable for the small ice type. "So friend what brings you out to these parts?" He notes the woman is a little aggressive as he sits back against the tree only to ignore another sneer from the pokemon above. His patient, or really passive nature typically did well when it came to working with people and pokemon alike.

adelaide rolls the berries in her hand, gets a feel for their texture. she glances down at skadi, who's looking at her with her mouth practically watering. she drops one for the snorunt to catch in midair, happily munching to satiate her hunger. she looks prepared to toss her another, but catches it before it can drop into the snorunt's hands and pockets it. she'll have to work for it if she wants more.
the scizor doesn't intimidate this military girl in the slightest. she gives him a icy cold stare right back, as though provoking him to try and hit her. if skadi can't protect her, then she'll spar with the crimson bug. she's wrestled with bigger pokemon, on occasion, taken her brother down even though he's several inches taller than her. her lips curl downwards to see the unprofessional way miles handles his pokemon. he lets it push him around and toss berries in his face. her respect for him is quickly dwindling.
"skadi is an embarrassment to snorunt," she scoffs, "hardly walks in a straight line, but that's what you expect from a domesticated pokemon." she was raised in captivity, under birch's care. adelaide imagines that her brethren, born in the wild and raised in a more natural environment for snorunt would behave otherwise. she's yet to figure out what perks this human raised creature can provide. she doesn't say anything when he addresses her as friend - really, she would disagree; small conversation does not a friend make - but she doesn't need an enemy.
"we're on the go. just passing through these routes. looking for trainers worth a fight."

He is tested everyday, whether it's in terms of patience, strategy, or even love on occasion. He was immersed at the bottom, and crawled his way here, not exactly at the top but better off than many. Or perhaps it wasn't right to say he did it, seeing as he climbed up the body of another to get where he is. The 'bottom' has taught him a number of lessons in the way of deceit, survival, and most importantly in this case control. These things are ingrained in his very regardless of how hard he tries to hide them, and on occasion these ingrained tendencies show themselves deliberately or otherwise.
The female trainer doesn't back down, very brave on her part. The bug pokemon feels challenged now focused directly on the woman his pinsers clasp threateningly the metallic sound ringing above them, Thoughts of the last time he saw a pokemon uncontrolled flood his mindscape, and something clicks for a moment. His voice doesn't change but he tilts his head toward the pokemon something having changed entirely. "Stand down." His face still seems to have this smile plastered on it, but something in him told the bug pokemon not to push his luck. The trainer pretends he's a peaceful man in hopes of one day becoming one, however sometimes the passive nature he's created isn't enough, he refuses to let his pokemon end up like a certain Gliscor he knows.
His head tilts back down his focus on the woman. He could battle indeed, but if the Snorunt was all she had well, his team may be a bit too much for her so he thinks. "I don't know, I think that pokemon of yours has some potential that is, if your willing to put in the time. Then again who am I to say?" A lazy fuck boy esque shrug follows. "As for trainers I'd offer but all my pokemon, are uh... well indisposed at the moment barring that one of course." In truth the metallic bug is his weakest pokemon at the moment, and fighting against this woman was more trouble than it was worth regardless of whether he won or lost.
"So you're a trainer then? You don't seem much like the coordinator type. Yeah I get a different vibe entirely."

miles steps up a little, but adelaide's impression has already cemented itself at the back of her mind. the scizor has potential to be strong, but she can't quite say the same of its trainer. he's too passive to command attention, the sort that is too quiet and too peace loving. adelaide believes in a certain degree of chaos to establish an order. there is no better way into a creature's - human and pokemon alike - head than tough, physical training.
"she'd better," adelaide scoffs with her eyes on her snorunt now. "and i'll personally see to it." her gaze is fierce and confident of her own abilities. she doesn't need the reassurance of a stranger to tell her what she can or can't do. she squints at the shrug. it's nonchalance and aloofness stirs disdain in her. her interest in miles in waning - he's not providing her an outlet to train, which means that apart from the berry offering, he's outlived his use to her right now.
everything now is just small talk, but adelaide is constantly making small, non verbal cues of her impatience to leave. she crosses her arms, tucks her hair behind her ear, and looks disinterested. "trainer, yeah." she won't admit that she's gone to watch the contest spectaculars in slateport's contest hall every time they hold one. this sort of information only led to weaknesses being unveiled. "it's an overly extravagant sport i don't care to associate with." dolling up pokemon and showing moves for the sake of beauty? adelaide thinks it's frivolous and unnecessary. "contests are for the shallow minded. battling, now, is a true sport." call her when a pretty ice beam will save you in a deathly situation.

I'm not one for contests either fighting it out comes more naturally to me, but to each their own." He wouldn't necessarily call the sport shallow, but it left much to be desired when it came to his preference. It's apparent the two had entirely different styles when it came to raising pokemon, and most likely battling as well. He barely resists the urge to poke fun at the serious woman, he squint reminding him of a man he's still yet to come to terms with. The blueish bruise on his forehead aches dully as he remembers hidden behind red hair. He doesn't know if he'll ever come to terms with 'that' man, but it's neither her nor there at the moment.
His bag begins to shake his new egg shaking for a moment before calming down it'd done that a couple of times now, and so he figured the egg he'd picked up from a certain event was to hatch soon. He didn't know exactly what it was yet, but he had high hopes for the yet to hatch pokemon.
Gotta say though you're definitely the most aggressive trainer I've met so far. Most of the people I fought haven't been nearly as... stern. Stern isn't exactly the first word that comes to mind at all, but it's the kindest he can do. He can't resist. "I wonder what happens when you put your money where your mouth is friend." It's obvious he's trying to rile her up just a little, his smile less cheesy and more sharp now. Her buttons seemed a little too easy to push.
the happy couple approach the pair. they hold hands, exchanging a couple kisses every minute. sierra flicks back a little hair, eyeing them with joy. "oh, how cute! a couple just like us." she squeals happily.
max is not far behind. he's a little more serious. "how about a battle, you two lovebirds?"

to each their own, miles says. adelaide begs to differ, again. at least he's not one of those pansies that partake in contests, though. adelaide's just about prepared to lose all respect for the guy if that happens to be the case.
most aggressive trainer... she likes the sound of that. it sounds powerful, like a force to be reckoned with. "are you doubting my will to fight?" she snaps back at miles, not taking too kindly to what he's implying. she's not all bark and no bite. adelaide says she'll stab someone and she will. her word is something to be taken as it is.
a couple strolls right up into their turf and has the gall to throw words at them so blatantly. adelaide feels a little insulted, not only by what they say, but their mere existence. she was never this grossly cutesy and cuddly with her ex, so this act sickens her to the very core. "you'll get a upfront demonstration," she retorts to miles, ready to show her abilities. she's confident of this. "i only have one pokemon, though. that's hardly a fair fight," she points out.
"skadi, standby!" she barks her orders. the snorunt swallows the rest of her berry snack and hops in front of adelaide, ready to prove that she's not some second rate pokemon. adelaide clicks open her pokedex and starts downloading her snorunt's data in preparation.

He's playing with fire, but it serves as a fantastic distraction for the moment, "Whose to say? I mean you sound pretty tough, but I don't know...." Red eyes watching the annoyed woman drolly. somehow managing not to break out laughing lest the woman decides to show him how 'real she is' by breaking his arm or something of the like. It's now that two new actors make their way into the scene, a couple a very 'affectionate' couple at that.
Upon first glance they assume the red haired boy, and the woman beside him are a couple, he can't help but snicker quietly. The two are then challenged to a battle. The woman wastes no time dragging Miles as her battle partner, not to say he dislikes how its turned out. "Don't worry." he whispers, "If worst comes to worst I'll let you borrow one of mine, doubt that'll be necessary though. That is if you fight as well as you talk." His eyes glance toward the branches of the tree, "Yo, you ready for a fight?" Almost instantaneously the bug pokemon glides out of the tree landing in front of his trainer ready to battle. "We'd love a battle! He calls out to the opposing team, "My darling here is a little shy and abrasive, but she's always willing to put up a fight isn't that right honey?" He was going to have fun with this.
opposites attract, they guess. "oh, that's quite alright! max can be a bit moody too sometimes." sierra giggles. she wraps his arm around her side leans against him. with a flick of her wrist she sends out a plusle. max quickly follows suit.
"alright, time to play!" max says. plusle charges up to the scizor and leaps towards it, nuzzling him with sparks coming out of her cheeks. it'd be left paralyzed. minun, similiarily, wags its tail and waves at the snorunt. he wants to play nice!

miles just about commits the worst move in his life, because adelaide wastes no time to unsheathe the blade she has tucked under her skirt, brandishing the weapon like a well worn piece of her attire, eyes narrowed and very, very angry. "call me that again and i will actually stab you," she hisses. her threat is not empty. adelaide is pressing against the blunt side of the blade so hard that her knuckles are turning white. she's showing incredibly forceful restraint, prepared to strike if miles takes one more wrong step.
"don't ever call me honey or i'll make your blood drip like honey," she warns, ignoring the couple. she doesn't retract her blade, glimpsing at the screen of her pokedex. "skadi, spikes," she orders, "then powder snow." play nice is hardly her concern - it affects attack, and skadi is only trained in special based moves.
her snorunt obliges, leaping into action. she tosses a bright orb that bursts into a flurry of spikes, laying the groundwork for future attacks. new entrants to the battlefield best beware. her teeth chatter before she summons a mini snowstorm that blankets the battlefield, trying to take down both opponents while she still has the energy to do so.

He pokes at the lion's cage far too much for her liking, and soon she bares her fangs. He's forced into a decision as a blade as raised upon him. Scizor eyes the two awkwardly ready to strike the woman himself if she was to slip, but Miles looks onward at the battle giving his pokemon a sign to focus at the task at hand. He should be scared, most normal people would. However he can't bring himself to feel fear instead he's extremely wary of the woman, after all it wasn't the first time someone's pulled a knife on him. He first wonders if it's a bluff, judging by the color of her knuckles he doubts it. Regardless he gives a lazy smile only halfway genuine, her glare still focused on him waiting on his next move. "You know you should smile more. After all it'd be a shame to waste such a pretty face." He makes no effort to move away from the blade his attention turning from the woman to the actual fight. "Quick Attack twice over on the red one." The Blade pokemon dashes at the Plusle hoping to hit it twice over with its speed before being latched onto by the blue pokemon shocking lightly leaving the blade pokemon paralyzed.
He calls over to his opponents, on the other side of the field in case they were dismayed by the fact he had a knife pointed at him. "No worries she's just a little... abrasive." He shines a the couple a casual smile ignoring the bad vibes received from his teammate entirely now.
Notes: Scizor uses quick attack x2 on plusle (technician boosted) Scizor is paralyzed by Nuzzle Miles is rip.
sierra lets out a shrill scream as adelaid unsheathes a knife and leaves it under his chin. she clutches on to max. is...is she crazy? they stay on that position even as the battle keeps going.
"o-okay." they collectively say. the pair of electric mice shiver from the cold. they're blown back from the attack. it's easy to recover. plusle opens its eyes only to see the pokemon launch at her. plusle growls at the pokemon and nuzzles him again, while minun goes to do a quick attack on the snorunt.
