Peace is something that came quickly for him not too long ago, however these days he's more conflicted than he's been in months not so much fear as much regret has taken over. He overlooks the pond quietly Scizor behind him. The blade pokemon doesn't know exactly what to do or say to comfort this odd trainer of his. Typically he's been more of a nuisance not than anything else. The evolved pokemon enjoyed rebelling, making life slightly more difficult for the man still not trusting him entirely. Seeing as his last trainer traded him away so casually it showed he didn't care much for the pokemon. This red haired boy was at least trying to make a connection, and he was pretty competent in the long run not surprisingly. However there were sparks within the trainer that showed themselves occasionally, sparks that kept the pokemon so wary of him in the long run. Still not knowing what to do the metallic bug sits against his trainers back if nothing else showing the man that he was there if needed. A gesture the trainer appreciates. He speaks aloud almost suddenly. As the scizor gets comfortable "I haven't given you a name yet... Have I?"
The pokemon gives a curt reply in what he can only assume is in the negative, The pokemon feels as if it doesn't really need something like a nickname and so the steel mantis cares little for it "Something I'll keep in mind, your part of my team now, so I can't slip up on that, not that I haven't slipped up enough already. A heavy sigh follows almost instantly. He'd managed to distract himself with the girl he met earlier. It seemed battles and conversations are all he does these days to keep his mind off his various woes the escape proving to be temporary every time.
He still had problems sleeping, a large deceased steel type pokemon has begun haunting his dreams now leaving him more restless and agitated than usual. His forehead still aching from where the black haired man struck back. His knuckles still ache dully that man's face having left a strong impression on his fist even a day after the impact. He shakes out his hand closing his eyes for a moment, only to wake up when something splashed in the small pond in front of them. He's alert and slightly more aggressive than usual, Scizor following suit. "HEY! Come out!" As he speaks he can't help but feel the egg in his bag vibrate ever so slightly.
Oh, hey, a pond! She never really saw too many ponds along the way, despite the coast between Oldale and Mauville being fairly close. Perhaps it was just her luck, having the one Pokemon that absolutely requires water to function and not coming across small bodies of water. Still, she would take what she could get, and what she could get was this small pond that lay in front of her.[break][break]
Her peripheral vision didn't catch the older male sleeping across the pond before she pulled out her Poke Ball, eager to let Magikarp have some fun swimming. With the ocean, she was afraid that the current would sweep Magikarp away, and she... she could never imagine her adventure without her first Pokemon. Here, however, it was safer, and easier to keep an eye on her Pokemon.[break][break]
The Poke Ball flashed and the orange fish came out, happily splashing into the water and swimming gleefully. Fidel watched with an equal amount of enjoyment, and they smiled at each other before Magikarp dived back down again. However, above the water, Fidel was startled to hear a paranoid-sounding man and his intimidating red Pokemon call her out.[break][break]
Oh, she didn't see him! He seemed... on edge? Something was troubling him, but he didn't seem like a bad person. Yet. Magikarp started to surface to see what the commotion was about while Fidel tried to be polite. She looked the man in the eye, pointedly not focusing on the clawed Pokemon next to him. Man, she wouldn't want to fight that thing. "I'm sorry, sir. Did I wake you up or something?" [break][break]
She couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. Was it the strong atmosphere the man emanated? Or was it the huge crimson Pokemon with pincers that could claw her head off at any moment? Either way, the sight in front of her was somewhat intimidating for the novice trainer. Magikarp was feeling a bit nervous, as well, but it was partially as an extension of his trainer's feelings.

He's losing it now. Any semblance of self control gives a quick farewell. The facade he makes use of daily is now almost impossible to maintain. He feels as if he's run out of both time and energy alike. The most basic things becoming far more difficult than ever before. Here he was scaring a little girl not even half his age, out of what? His own fear? His own regrets? He's spiraling and can't control it. "Sorry little miss, I uh.. I didn't mean to scare you. I thought you might have been a wild pokemon or something." He lies, a wild pokemon wouldn't scare him in the slightest especially not with the pincer pokemon backing him. So why was he so paranoid? What was strong enough to scare him, other than himself? Why couldn't he just let it go...
"Yeah I was just sleeping." He tries to smile, but it comes off as more weary than anything else, he knows it's a matter of time before he breaks. "Don't mind this guy, he's just a big softy he wont hurt you." Not entirely to the truth as the bladed pokemon was by no means 'soft', but still the pokemon wouldn't attack the girl... without reason... probably
He looks out into the water focusing on what alerted him so violently in the first place that being a small orange fish pokemon splashing about in the pond before him, it was no longer splashing peeking over the water's surface watching the interaction between the boy and it's trainer. Scizor's eyes far more focused on the water pokemon than the girl now, making sure the fish pokemon knows he is visible entirely.
"So that's your pokemon then?" He changes the topic quickly hoping he regains his wits as they continue. He can't remember the pokemon's name, but he knows it's famous for evolving into one of the most feared water pokemon in all of the seas. How that happens he has no idea as the karp pokemon seems more wimpy than anything at first glance. Pokemon evolution was truly a mystery. "It seems... dependable." All the while Scizor continues to glare at the fish, something about the water pokemon rubbing him the wrong way. Fidel Bolivar

■ what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
This man seemed nice, just a bit jumpy. Being as innocent as she was, she didn't catch those moments that would betray a much more haunted man than she originally perceived him to be. No, Fidel saw none of that. What she was was a tired man who was a bit winded from traveling, with a rather strong Pokemon at his side. The red Pokemon seemed... alert, now that she looked at it. It's eyes were following Magikarp in a way she was a bit unnerved about.[break][break]
Magikarp tried to swim a bit more to calm it's nerves, but it's eyes kept glancing back to that Scizor staring at it. What did it want? Was it a predator? Magikarp was raised domestically, so it wasn't very good at spotting who was a predator of it's species and who wasn't. Still, it had a vibe that made Magikarp swim faster, just that little bit faster, but fast enough for anybody to notice.[break][break]
"Oh, yeah, this is Magikarp." She confirmed, her eyes going to Magikarp. It felt nervous, she knew that now. it was swimming faster, and when she felt nervous walking on the streets at night, she walked faster, so she imagined it was something like that. Was it that big red Pokemon that was making Magikarp nervous? She wouldn't blame it, to be completely honest, as she was nervous, as well.[break][break]
"I just got it. We, uh... we've been in a few bad battles." Instinctively, she touched her arms, which was still that maroon color and wrinkled texture from the deep burns it sustained. No time to dwell on the past, Fidel. "We've been losing a lot. But if we keep battling, I think we could get stronger." She said. Something about how she previously spoke made her seem withdrawn about her defeats, but in that last sentence, there was a certain finality that showed a steel determination in her soul to make it so.[break][break]
"Oh, would you like to battle? I'm afraid it'll have to be with your weakest Pokemon. It'll also be kinda fast and boring. I'm just trying to teach Magikarp how to survive, not really fight." Fidel had a frown on her face as she said that. Her form of training still made her cringe every now and then. Throwing Magikarp into danger for a few moments of panic and finally, injury? It seemed inhumane, really. But Fidel knew she had to do what she had to do, not because of it was a 'good thing' or 'bad thing' to do, but because it was the 'only thing' for her to do.

Unfortunately for the girl Scizor was the weakest pokemon he has on hand right now. He's not opposed to the battle however it doesn't seem right picking on a little girl with a pokemon that literally could not defend itself in the slightest. He also understands the purpose of her training the small fish pokemon couldn't win, but if it were ever attacked by something that had no boundaries the little girl wouldn't exactly be in the best of shape. And so despite his own weariness he agrees to the battle. "This guy is probably the best pokemon I have for the job honestly, but don't worry he wont play too rough on it, in fact he'll only be able to use one attack this battle an attack he actually needs a fair bit of practice with anyways. It also keeps your own pokemon in the water." He thinks of the best way to describe his plan, quickly figuring it would be best to simply show her.
"Scizor use vacuum wave on that tree." His order is direct and so the blade pokemon stands vibrating one of its pincers rapidly before jabbing it in the direction of the tree. The technique leaving an imprint of the claw in the bark. "It'll be like whack a mole. If Scizor can't hit Magikarp 3 times in lets say fifteen minutes you win if Magikarp gets hit three times before time runs out I win. The pond doesn't look deep enough to brush off one of the fists so I think it's a pretty fair game, and it'll help your fish learn how to survive. Sound fun?" The man doesn't mention the game keeps him from focusing too hard on the battle leaving the older trainer to think and come to terms with everything that's happened thus far in his training career.
As the man explained his little trial, Fidel begun to grow bitter at her treatment. He pitied her. She was sure he meant well, but something made her angry deep within, seeing this. Why treat her as lesser? Both the lady in black and the lady in white said she should train, train like a real trainer. Not... not like this. Like, seriously. This was a carnival game, not a real battle![break][break]
Something about this encounter made her disagree with what she previously thought about how she trained Magikarp. They had to take hardships, not the easy way out. There wasn't always going to be water around, nor was there always going to be a nice man with a fun, safe game. She needed to stop whining and grow up! And so she listened to his instructions, her inner thoughts turning into a storm of resent, both for herself and for her pity.[break][break]
She'll play his game, though. Just this once. Knowing Magikarp... she looked at the way her Pokemon was currently swimming through the water. No. Magikarp wouldn't be able to outspeed one of those attacks, much less outspeed three. Fidel decided to try her luck. She wouldn't back down from any challenge, after all. However, if and when she failed, then she was better off rushing to Oldale Town.[break][break]
She couldn't return to Littleroot. Not now.[break][break]
Fidel nodded, still with the smallest ghost of a frown on her face. She tried not to be impolite; he seemed like a nice person, despite her little peeve; but she wasn't trained in the art of tact quite well enough. "Yeah, I get it. Alright, I'll try my best. Hey, Magikarp!" The carp emerged on the surface of the water from it's swim. "We're dodging attacks for as long as we can, okay?" The Magikarp gave her a glance before submerging once more. Yeah, it understood. Fidel prepared for battle. There was a spark of motivation in her eyes as she made eye contact.[break][break]

Scizor looks determined to fight, despite his trainer's protests to hold back. The younger trainer steels herself, leaving the man feeling more than a little uncomfortable with how things were turning out, fear that Scizor and Scar were far too similar and thus this fight, fear that this child's Magikarp would end up just as that Lairon did. His heart buckles, and his breathing becomes a bit more haggard as the supposed battle begins.
Yellow eyes focus on the target in the ward claws winding up prepared to launch a burst of kinetic energy at the fish, the only thing feasibly stopping the blade pokemon being the trainer hasn't ordered it to fire. His palms are sweaty he finds himself grinding his teeth entirely reluctant. He can feel the red pokemon's gaze focus on his trainer for a moment annoyed by his hesitation. "Vacuum Wave." the order is definitely half hearted, but an order in an order and so the Scizor jabs the wave of energy crossing the water causing it to split and spread apart what was once stagnant now rippling heavily. The trainer's eyes watch the blast move hoping the Magikarp could pull through if it happened to be hit.
As a result, Magikarp was blasted headfirst by the wave of energy. As it was, the force of the attack was too large for it to try and swim out of the way, and it was too slow to react in time or move in time. Fidel hadn't been in too many battles, by now. Neither had Magikarp. As a result, the carp was blown out of the water and laid unconscious, it's scales sprawled in front of Fidel's feet. The battle had ended in a flash.[break][break]
She made eye contact with the man in front of her as it happened. For the briefest flash, the fire in her eyes burned out when Magikarp landed in front of her, their color reflecting utter defeat. But just as quickly, it reignited. Her soul only flickers when she loses, and doesn't completely snuff out, it seems. However, Magikarp was rather injured by this one, and it had bruises and cuts worse than her other battles. Fidel would need to get it to a Pokemon Center quickly. She kept her steel expression even as she recalled Magikarp, almost as if she wasn't surprised at her defeat.[break][break]
To be fair, she wasn't, not really. Fidel blinked, and she returned to a more casual state. Her face relaxed and her stance became loose. "I... guess I lose, then." Inwardly, she sighed, but wasn't nearly as phased as she was before. She expected it. That Pokemon was rather fierce, and she and Magikarp hadn't been strong enough. Only another reason to get stronger, right? She'd work hard and keep at it; this loss was just another step towards her goals.[break][break] "Thanks for letting me have a fighting chance, sir," She said, nodding to the man as a sign of respect. "I'd love to stay around and meet your Pokemon, but..." She glanced at her Poke Ball and then back at the man meaningfully. "I kinda need to get Magikarp to Oldale Town real fast." With that, she started moving back to the path she was on, giving a backwards smile to Miles Serran.[break][break]
"Thank you for your time! I hope you and your Pokemon do well!"

Death came for all, but not for Magikarp or at least not today, and most importantly not by his hand. Watching the pokemon get blasted out of the water in one shot was definitely painful again the whole event made him slightly sick to his stomach, not helping the fact he already wasn't feeling to great prior to meeting the younger trainer.
He watches the pokemon flop to the ground his heart beating far faster than it normally would a glance at Scizor showed the pokemon wasn't satisfied by the fish pokemon's performance. Fear had gripped him entirely to the point he couldn't move, it only takes seconds for the girl to confirm the fish pokemon is still alive, the red haired trainer almost collapses in relief his skin regaining some kind of color.
Almost as quickly the young trainer runs off Miles managing to force out some kind of halfway, and a smile that still on the knife edge of tears. The wind blows fiercely in her absence a sign telling him to move on as well. The red haired trainer says nothing recalling the pinsir pokemon to it's pokeball before moving forward back towards Oldale as well having no other place to go. There was no one to save him on this journey, all of his problems were his and his alone. He was responsible for himself, no shortcuts or excuses, or even shoulders to lean on.
