hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

FRIENDS briley here is sure to have plenty of friends — she's exceptionally friendly and her personality can be described as "addictive" to others. she has a good sense of humor, but she has a good head on her shoulders and will always and forever fight for the greater good. she's going to be somebody that everyone at some point is going to crave to be around, and she's determined to achieve the best she could possibly be. briley is friendly to absolutely everyone she considers "good" and will easily put her life on the line to protect you or your pokémon. she's also very serious about her job and she loves it a lot so if you're interested in making a ranger, this is the girl to befriend!
ENEMIES if she knows you're in magma or aqua, then you're automatically her mortal enemy. she considers anyone in those groups as "evil" no matter how nice you've acted towards her and no matter how much you try to convince her you're trying to "better the world." briley sees you as criminals and that's all she's ever going to see you as. period. also, she's somebody who likes to take leadership roles in and outside of the ranger community — so say you have a ranger that doesn't like to be told what to do, it could make a very interesting relationship between the two of them.
ROMANCE briley's a very flirtatious person. she enjoys looking at attractive people so much that's pretty much the only reason she goes to bars (they have such cheap whine, like seriously). If there's a pretty girl sitting across the way she's gonna be the one to initiate the conversation, but if there's a cute guy she's probably gonna try to wiggle her chest and give him the lover eyes to get him to come on over. she's definitely down for one-night stands (or multiple, really) and i see her as pretty sexually active. however i'm very interested in her possibly having a singular love interest, though that might take some time.

cain novak & briley one sided enemies? maybe they can be acquaintances at first, and then cain accidently reveals that he's in aqua and briley starts hating him. he'll still attempt to be friends with her. he'd go out of his way to be nice to her -- offer her to buy her food if they meet at a cafe, wave/smile at her whenever he sees her. up to u if she warms up or keeps hating on him wink.
She's too pretty and outgoing for Sylvester to not like her. Their moral background is basically the same to boot. While he may appear a bit reclusive, I think Briley would be a good person to befriend to bring out his more sociable side. Her being a Ranger would also be very interesting to him, and he'd generally seek her out a lot for advice and the like, as she is a good person at heart and he would value this above all.
Idk who you had/have in mind, but Sylvester would be attracted to her in the romance aspect. Would be even better for bringing out sociable & compassionate nature, but if it's not what you got in mind don't be afraid to lmk.
As for the Eon drama...what did you have in mind for that? I don't think Eon is going to be like Aqua or Magma, but I am up for whatever you were thinking of!
i have a couple of ideas for them tbh, so whichever one you like best just tell me! i feel like they would get along really, really well — like very casual girl friends that talk about their lives and gossip maybe and stuff (or briley might flirt with her a little if she sees cass in a bar and it can grow from that, etc). i don't really know how into that stuff cass is, but i think it'd be really cool if they become relatively close and somehow eventually briley catches wind of her being not only magma but magma leader and feeling betrayed, angry, etc that it starts something really fierce between them. OR they could be fierce enemies from the get-go, maybe even rivals to a certain extent. it could make for some really awesome angry battles and things, and if rangers ever get to intervene with magma/aqua tasks and events it could be super fun to thread!
i love that idea tbh bc briley'd be all friendly to him and the second he mentions aqua or drugs tbh she'll start to hate him and stuff and every time he waves it'll just make her mad :'D like "wtf are you mocking me?" it'd be really funny i think omg
theyd def be really good friends i think! i don't know about the romance as much because i feel like she's going to have to really know the person before they become involved, but im down with them trying and seeing how it goes >] if you have any ideas about them meeting or anything pls tell me so we can plan something out!!!!

BRILEY BECKETT & Cliff Roderick: I think Cliff and Briley would make for some very fun and interesting threads if they met up. Her upbeat personality would really mix well with Cliff's happy go lucky attitude. Cliff is all about enjoying life and taking things easy, and while he is searching for his own goals on his journey, he really wants to help others achieve whatever success they want. Since Briley wants to be her best self, whether that be in her ranger career or with her Pokemon, Cliff will want to help her in any way he can. While he's not a ranger, he is big on avoiding violence and befriending other Pokemon, as oppose to some of the activities that Team Magma and Team Aqua participate in.
Cliff would also be romantically interested in Briley, since she is lover of Pokemon, and would help him get out of his shell a bit. This romantic developement may take a few threads to develop, as Cliff is a bit more reserved to open up his heart beyond physical attraction, but after becoming good friends, Cliff could want to pursue things further, but we can see how things go. His calm and go with the flow nature and Briley's active personality make for a good combination for some fun threads and character development, but let me know what you think.
the more friends she has, the better! briley's open to anyone and everyone that's friendly, and like i said before she's the very flirty type. i don't know who will eventually become her lover, but i would love to see how the two of them would cooperate together and the like. if you have any thread ideas, please let me know!! uwu
Yo Wolfy! So, two flirty people, Simon and Briley would have to eventually meet up! Simon's comfortable with older women and wouldn't have any problem on flirting with Briley at all. She has a cute face and those shorts just goes hot damn for him. He's not into commitment, and likes to wonder around a whole lot. Simon's more than getting someone to bed, but, I can see Briley changing that about him. Just the two of them being flirty and she's being all hard to get for him. She implicates the idea of sleeping and going to bed with him, luring him into a trap, but it's just her teasing him all the time.

Here's another one, the reason why I want you to be at Petalburg ASAP is because of my sweet sweet Horace-san. Horace is a Ranger (now lmao), he switched from being a Breeder due to the Rangers pestering him again and again about joining them. I would think that Briley and Horace would get along. They're close in age (somewhat, just a six year difference OTL), and they're both in Rangers. I would think they would have heard of one another. Horace could be the mentor for Briley x) hit them off to acquaintances at first and once it evolves, they can form a friendship bond after they get out of some deep water magma/aqua stuff.

if there's one thing (besides just regular old friends) that i think briley needs it's friends with benefits. the more she has, the better lol. i feel like briley will most definitely be down with teasing, it's practically one of her most prominent traits, and getting him into bed a couple times for just a little one-night commitment here or there is just fine with her ;) preferable even. they should meet up in a bar sometime if you know what i mean. ;) ;) ;)
how about briley is his mentor, or just thinks that she is? she's pretty self-centered about her rank/job, even though she doesn't realize it, and she'd think herself better than him pretty early on. especially since he was a breeder and only recently became a ranger. like, she went to the academy. cmon. she knows so much more than him, man. she's gotta teach him the ropes. lmao :'D
i was thinking we could have some sort of ranger dynamic w these two. they could be partners? and because of his age i feel like briley would constantly poke fun at it/use it to have the upper hand. her constant flirtiness would get on his nerves and he'll just be like 'omg pls stop and get work done'. which is ironic bc he normally doesnt give a shit about work. anything to please the boss.
he's not going to lie and say he's not attracted to her. they could have had flings before in the past year? when he's eighteen ofc winks but i'm fine if u want to play it like they just met too. either would work!
i love the idea of them being partners *u* i feel like briley would be like, good cop while cedric is bad cop. but not like "nice" and "not nice" but more like "i do my job" and "i don't do my job" lol. since briley's always wanting to do work she'll probably take the leadership role regardless whether cedric wants it or not, and she'll probably kind of boss him around a little too which will probably get on his nerves. and also picking on him, of course. that's basically a given :') along with flirting ofc. i'm totally down with them having past flings or even current flings tbh, she needs some people to sleep around with so yknow ;) ;)
she'll also probably try to like, almost mother him while still flirting bc she's weird af and like try to get him motivated to do more work bc it's for the "good of the world" and all that bs so i think with them being on two completely opposite sides of work ethic could make for a rly interesting team dynamic :')

Though I'm not sure if you want that to be the core of their relations. It'd be cool if they met under very different circumstances than are considered normal.
Maybe we can even involve Usa somehow, you're both Rangers so you're bound to meet up eventually. Not sure what Rangers do other than Trainers differently. T^T Not too Ranger savvy here to be honest. Rangers be ranging but idk what else they do. :c

BRILEY BECKETT & Alastor Clarke could be a sort of informant for Briley, at least until he pulls the double agent card. He was originally meant to be very uncooperative with Magma, but now I plan to have him go zealotry mode towards the Team or his own nefarious agenda.
It'd be neat to have Briley try her first attempt at subterfuge only to watch as it backfires and ends up making people cast shade her way. Would give her a possible motive towards redemption, say ending Alastor's rampant crimes.
BRILEY BECKETT so gwen is in team magma, but she's not open about it. you won't see her wearing the uniform, she doesn't enter the base in broad daylight, and she doesn't go around talking about she's going to dry the sea up to make more room for pokemon on land. she's real quiet about her involvement, and instead presents herself as a scientist first and foremost and has several published papers.
being a young genius who graduated college at nineteen with studies in both geology and pokemon physiology, she's always gotten on at least decently well with rangers. she appreciates what they do and more than once they've helped her on her research for one paper or the other. even as a magma members she still holds a lot of respect for them and they are some of the few people she'll be openly and instantly kind to upon meeting them.
i really like the idea of these two meeting each other, being friendly for multiple threads, maybe even developing a strong friendship founded on mutual love and interest for pokemon, and then someway, somehow, she finds out gwen is a member of team magma and drama ensues. it would tear up gwen who thought she'd found a good friend and i imagine briley wouldn't be too happy about it either.

so briley would probably bump into dmitri at some point, right? i mean, hoenn's pretty tiny for an entire region, and there's not all that many rangers out and about yet. it makes sense that maybe, while out patrolling, they meet each other?
maybe dmitri can mention something, like her looking similar to a friend of a friend or whatever, and briley will realize he's talking about bunny? her little sister doesn't know that she's around hoenn yet, and probably won't for a while — but part of the reason why briley requested to get stationed in hoenn was to watch over bunny. maybe dmitri can help her out and tell her some going-ons? i don't know if dmitri knows anything about eon, but if he knows if bunny is correlated to the uprising in slateport somehow then it could cause some drama maybe? idk. any ideas are welcomeeeee!
i think it'd be suuuuper neat and heartbreaking for briley to think that she has a friend in magma to act as a sort of informant or spy. she'd probably think she'd be super badass or something and that she's one of the best rangers out there, only to have her heart and dreams ripped out as he pulls the double agent card. it could cause some really interesting drama, imo!!
i love love love the idea of briley making a super-intelligent, super science-y girl friend that she can feel like she can relate to on some aspects. i think they could become really great friends, if they spend enough time together, and i'd really really super love to have them get a really close relationship that turns into something gross and aggressively heartbreaking when briley learns that gwen's actually a magma member. also, idk if you have any plans yet for relationships, but briley is kind of a horndog and it's not unusual for her to sleep around — maybe their relationship could evolve into something more intimate and romantic and sexual maybe before briley finds out that she's magma?
but if you already have plans for gwen's love life, that's perfectly fine!! just a suggestion to add a little more depth c; if you have any more ideas, please let me know!! i really really love your character *u*
