[attr="class","mv1"]when was the last time he had used a tm? evan actually couldn't recall using a tm at all? he had always been content to just let his pokemon learn moves on their own rather than shoving a new one down their face. not that he didn't see the benefits of said item. it taught the pokemon something new, something that it couldn't learn no matter how much hard work and effort they put into it. plus the fact that some of the tms that pokemon learned just didn't make sense for their species. something like a slowpoke learning how to use a fire type attack.
so when he first came across the tm for dragon claw, evan didn't exactly know what to do with it. none of his pokemon could learn the move and he didn't really have a need for it. so instead of holding onto it to collect dust, he sent out a message through the pokenav for anyone willing to make use of the move. it had taken awhile but he eventually got a reply back and they were scheduled to meet just outside of rustboro.
evan sat on a bench with his swablu resting right next to him. checking on the time, he could see that it was almost time for them to meet up and glanced around the area for anyone. sending a quick message to let the other know where he was, he leaned back and waited to see when the other would show up.

the shadows are getting longer and we know no envy
Up until now, Kristmar had only ever been interested in scoping out potential customers for his TMs rather than actively look for moves he'd be personally interested in acquiring. That changed though when he spotted someone online with Dragon Claw up for offer. A valuable move due to its typing, strength, and the low amount of dragon TMs that went around. Kris' gible, the only dragon on his team, learnt the move at later levels but... it'd provide a nice boost if he was able to learn it prematurely.
The best part was, after a short discussion regarding its price, was that he wouldn't even have to pay in cash. It was going to be more of a trade.
Kristmar was on his way to the place where they'd arranged to meet when his pokénav buzzed in his jeans back pocket. Deimos, his gible, who tore ahead with his habitual boundless energy whipped around on noticing his trainer slow down and barked enthusiastically, no doubt telling him to hurry up, before charging off again on his short legs. It was from the guy he was meeting up with, he was apparently already here and in the area.
Pocketing the device once again, Kris glanced up quickly and began to scan the route that led out of Rustboro as he approached it. While he wasn't late (just pushing it for time), it'd still be rude to leave a person waiting.
"Dei," he grumbled to the energetic dragon sniffing the base of a lamp post. "Don't wander too far, he's---"
Not too far away, Kris spotted a redhead occupying a bench up ahead. He was alone except for the company of a swablu. With no one else really in the vicinity, he supposed that this had to be the guy. The coordinator pushed back his champagne bangs that hung loosely around his shoulders and made a beeline for the other trainer, a small but friendly smile inching its way across his lips the nearer he got.
"Hey," he greeted with a slight wave of his hand, "It's Kris from the messages. Evan, right?"

[attr="class","mv1"]snow spotted the pair way before evan did and hopped up on the bench to alert her trainer. evan had been fiddling with his pokenav while they waited and glanced up to look over at the swablu. "huh?" he turned and saw what his pokemon was gesturing to and saw the two making their way toward him. standing up, evan waited until they got closer and waved in greeting. "yeah i'm evan. nice to meet you kris." he held out his hand for a shake with a friendly smile on his face. "over here is snow." he only prayed the swablu had learned and would not attempt to sit on kris' head. she had a habit of doing that and sometimes the results were not that great. he glanced over to the pokemon and saw that she was preoccupied with hopping toward the gible, cooing softly in greeting and waving her feathers in its direction. at least she was distracted for now.
evan reached into his bag and dug around for the tm that they needed for the exchange. "you're going to have to guide me on how this works. sadly i've never used tms before." he couldn't even remember if he ever used one before. pulling out the tm, he gave a small smile and held the disc out for the other to take. "shall we get started?"

His new acquaintance struck him as a welcoming character, which was pleasant. Kris took up the redhead's hand and gave it an amiable shake, letting his cerise eyes inquisitively roam over the male's comely features. "Pleasure's mine," he politely answered, slowly retrieving his hand after it lingered a moment more. "Thanks for this."
Introductions and greetings over, the blonde sat himself down on the bench that Evan had been occupying while he'd been waiting and brought his fabric bag onto his lap. He mimicked the other man and delved into the TM pocket of his satchel, pulling out the very light periwinkle disc after a couple of seconds. Deimos kept near his trainer's ankles although... he was steadily inching closer towards swablu, his eyes on her downy wings that she waved at him. They looked as soft as clouds, the dragon mused, and found himself wondering absent-mindedly what it'd be like to bite a cloud.
Kris tucked his hair behind his ears, pushing his excessively long bangs over his shoulders and out of the way, with a light chuckle. "No worries, I'll show you how it's done. It's really easy," he told Evan as he exchanged the Dragon Claw TM he held for his Ice Beam one with a friendly wink. "Just watch me. Dei, c'mere, boy."
The willowy male reached over for the dragon's dorsal fin so to guide him closer (and away from the poor swablu's wings he was sneaking ever closer to) and showed him the technical machine. Immediately, the gible recognized the item and gave a couple of enthusiastic yips. Another move? Deimos began panting merrily, his tongue lolling out the side of his large mouth, as his trainer brought the disc close enough to touch him. "All you need to do to set the machine is touch them with it. It does the rest itself, really," while Kris spoke, the disc began to spin in the sleeve, whirring and humming lowly. "It takes a moment or two but, as long as the pokémon's still, it's over quick."

[attr="class","mv1"]evan watched as the other male sat down on the bench and retrieved the tm from his own bag. his attention briefly looked towards the two pokemon that looked to be finishing their own greetings. the swablu saw the way that the dragon type was eyeing her wings and hopped away a little in case the pokemon decided to see if her wings were a snack. however she still kept close enough to not be rude and watch what the trainer was going to do to the gible.
reaching forward, he exchanged the tms with kris and looked down at the disc in his hands. it didn't look too much different from the other besides the shading of the disc. to be honest, evan had been hoping that maybe the tms would have cool designs representing the attack the pokemon could learn; something spectacular besides being different colors. then again, he guessed giving a pokemon an entirely new move instantly was cool enough.
evan smiled at how the gible seemed to be interested in snow's wings and the way snow was backing away each time the dragon attempted to sneak over. she only paused when the other pokemon luckily was called over to its trainer and hopped over to her own as well. turning his attention back to kris, evan watched as male placed the disc on his pokemon and watched as it whirred to life. "oh that's kind of cool." his eyes turned to the one in his hand and looked down at the swablu. "stay still for me girl. it will only take a minute." placing the tm on the swablu's body, the machine whirled to life and started a soft hum.
"are you a coordinator by any chance?" evan couldn't explain it but the other male gave off a vibe that he was a coordinator. he was also asking because he knew that some coordinators handled tms and such for contest appeals.

Soon enough, the disc's rapid spinning began to slow to a standstill, making a series of quiet clicking noises as it did to signal that the process had finished. With a pleased smile, Kris retrieved the TM and gave his gible a praising pat on his head. He glanced down one last time at the navy disc with an orange sheen to it before handing it back to Evan with a light chuckle. This wasn't the first time someone had correctly deduced that he was a coordinator.
"I am, actually," Kris told him, nudging his gible away with the toe of his foot, "I even have a contest soon in Slateport if you're in the area." Something he was both looking forward to with excitement while dealing with a gutfull of nerves. First contest jitters and all that.
The blonde turned his head away from the redhead to watch Deimos play with the violaceous flames that began to coat his talons. The dragon played around with them, showing naught but open curiosity for this new power. Tentatively, he made little swipes at the air, growling merrily at the whooshing sounds he could make.
"You don't strike me as a coordinator though," especially since the guy hadn't had the foggiest as how to use a technical machine, but he could be wrong. He'd been wrong before. "A trainer taking the gym challenge? A casual traveller?"
