Ever since Dylan had battle Andrea, he had wondered how she got such a powerful move. "Ice Beam. . ." He muttered to himself rubbing his chin, where on earth would he be able to get such powerful moves. "Maybe it naturally learned it? Nah I doubt any frog can naturally shoot a beam of Ice from birth." He muttered shaking his head at the idea. He looked at the Riolu on his shoulder and sighed again. "Rrrriolu!" The Pokemon replied trying to cheer up his trainer.
"Don't worry, I'm fine Riolu, it's just where do I get those awesome moves?!" Dylan exclaimed quite loudly, he shouldn't be shouting inside a Pokemon Center, he turned to the others and rubbed the back of his head with slight embarassment. "S-sorry." He bowed to people inside the Center and then went back to talking to his Riolu. "Man. . . we need some if we're gonna battle her again."
And with that Dylan sat down and leaned against the Pokemon Center wall, it was a well deserved rest after achieving his first gym badge, dancing almost all night at the Gala, and running over to Mauville first thing the next morning. "Still so tired, but so much to do. . ."

the shadows are getting longer and we know no envy
The blonde had been lost in thought while he waited for his team to be checked up after the long journey to Mauville from Slateport. He silently mulled over the possibility of going to pay his parents a visit while he was here seeing as he had the chance... just to see how they were doing... plus they'd been rather civil with him when he'd asked them to send his suit over so he had something to wear for that drasted gala. Maybe the sourness and disdain they felt towards him had eased a little over time. It'd... be worth a try.
Kris was wrenched out of his quiet reverie by a very loud voice belonging to someone who sounded like they were vocally despairing over... awesome moves?
Looking around, the coordinator tried to pinpoint the owner of the voice and spotted... Dylan? Was that Dylan? Yeah... it was him! It was that guy he'd battled back at the beach when that festival had been going on. That seemed like good an excuse as any to go over and see... what was bothering him, if he'd heard right.
"Dylan?" Kris asked, pushing his thick blonde bangs from the sides of his face, once he'd walked close enough. He gave a casual wave to the pastel-haired male and smiled with a little bit of warmth. "It's Kris! From... the beach that day?" He... hoped the guy remembered him too so that he wouldn't make a slight fool out of himself. "You alright there? Something bothering you?" Something... regarding moves, perhaps?

Dylan sighed once again and shut his eyes. "Well. . . no point in complaining about it now." He whispered softly, his Riolu climbed into his shirt peeping it's head out of the collar, as it usually used Dylan's shirt as a blanket. It laid its head against Dylan's chest, the usual pillow, and yawned quietly. The two would begin to drift into a dreamland.
Until someone had decided to call them awake. "H-huh?" Dylan muttered his eyes fluttering open. "Oh! Hello Kris!" Dylan exclaimed hopping up onto his feet, whenever he saw some he recognized it always brought him back to life. "Yeah, I remember ya! It's been a super long time! How've you been?" He added, he flashed his signature super friendly and warm smile, while his Riolu copied Kristmar's wave. "Ah, well what's bothering me is, back in Petalburg I got into a battle with this girl named Andrea, not sure if you know her, but yeah. All was going well in my favor till she used this move 'Ice Beam' and decimated my team."
He paused, remembering exactly how it went down, his very first battle ending up in a total loss. "I'm just trying to figure out where I could possibly getting a move like that. . . but it's sorta a pipe dream. I can't think of a single place where I could get that!"

Andrea? Oooh, yeah... Kris knew her. And, yeah, he knew about that notorious ice beam of hers as well. He'd experienced it first-hand from her then-froakie about a month back. Hearing that this guy had suffered the same fate in Andrea's battlefield... honestly? Kris couldn't help but chuckle, and that's what he did. He listened to Dylan confess him his woes and the blonde began shaking his head with slight fondness to his smile and let a gentle peal of laughter leave his chest.
"Oh, man, yeah, I know her," Kris continued chuckling, "Andrea's ice beam attacks are pretty nasty, aren't they?"
It was no secret that technical machines were hard to come by these days. They were hard to come by in shops and the easiest way to acquire them were through contests... well, that wasn't exactly the easiest way but... it was one way. Kris took a little pity on the trainer's plight and, with a sigh, turned around and promptly sat himself down next to him.
"It's not that hard to get decent moves if you know the right people," he told him, pausing a little before continuing, "and if you're willing to part with a little cash." Kris brought his satchel round carefully, taking precaution not to jostle the lapras egg it contained, swaddled in the fleecy blanket that'd been wrapped around three eggs before it. He settled his bag in the basket of his crossed legs and began rifling through it for his TM pocket.
Kris produced four discs - pastel shades of brown, orange, pink and blue - and showed them to Dylan.
"If you're really in need for moves... I sell teachings of these four for pretty cheap, if you're interested." Kris carded through them and began to list them off to the slightly younger male with an entertained little smirk. "Fire Blast is five. Earthquake, Dazzling Gleam and - heh, look - Ice Beam are four each."

Thinking back to that battle made Dylan frown a bit, he wanted to win oh so badly, but it all slipped away towards the end due to the accursed Froakie. Dylan was much stronger now, he'd definitely be able to win next time around, or well he hoped to anyway. With one Gym Badge under his belt he felt a lot more confident about his skills, but what's one out of eight badges? Not enough that's what it is and Dylan was going all the way to the top, of the league, of his friends, and of Magma.
"Oh you do? Small region isn't it?" Dylan replied and then nodded. "Yeah it seriously messed up my Nidoran, but no worry don't need to worry about any of that, he's so much stronger now!"
When Dylan said much stronger, he definitely meant MUCH STRONGER. The Pokemon became much more aggressive too, sometimes abandoning Dylan's orders just for the hell of it. He also got extremely pissed off in a battle whenever he was hit too hard or saw another male Pokemon for some reason, Dylan would have to do something about that, otherwise it would lead to much more Pokemon causalities such as Fabio's Mightyena, which his Nidoking sliced in half. Dylan shivered remembering the moment way too well.
"Yeah I guess, maybe I just don't know the right people? Who knows. . . though I wouldn't trade a single person I met so far just for someone with the ability to give strong moves." Dylan said rubbing the back of his friends, he made a bunch of friends during his journey, it was sad to know he would have to part ways with them after they figured out he was a Magma Sergeant. He raised a brow Kristmar, when he mentioned money. "What do you mean?"
When figured out what he did mean, his jaw nearly dropped. "Whoa!" Were these record CD's the way Andrea learned Ice Beam? The Power of music is amazing! Dylan simply nodded as Kristmar explained he would teach these moves to his Pokemon for a price. "Deal!" Dylan exclaimed sending out each of his Nidoking, this was one he wanted moves to be taught to the most, whether that'd be a good idea or not he'd have to wait and find out.

The smirk that Kris wore merely grew wider at Dylan's expressed surprise and then eagerness. The fact that they'd both bumped into each other here was a nice coincidence for the two of them. Kris wrapped an arm protectively around his satchel while the light-haired kid next to him wasted no time in releasing one of his pokémon. A nidoking, huh?
"And you fought Andrea with a nidoran?" He asked, getting up to his feet, a little awkwardly since he did it one-handedly. "Looks like someone's been getting a lot of training in since then." Kris turned around and deposited his satchel carefully on Dylan's lap, trusting in him to keep it safe. "Hold that for me. Careful though; it's holding a lapras egg."
Kristmar turned his attention back to the stocky dual type as he smoothed down the front of his shirt and the seat of his jeans. After giving the pokémon a considering look, taking the chance to observe the creature from up close, he fished out his trusty pokénav from his pocket and brought up the list of TMs this guy could learn. Kris gave a low whistle at the extensive list of moves that showed up. There were so many! And, huh, he quickly spotted that nidokings could learn three out of the four technical machines that Kris had on his person.
"What're you wanting?" Kris asked him, his eyes still fixed on his pokénav's screen as he rested his disc-wielding hand on a cocked hip, standing casually with a slanted angle. "Earthquake, ja? And... he can learn both Ice Beam and Fire Blast too, if you're after a bit of type coverage." Fire for ice types that threatened him and ice for other ground types. Either seemed like a good idea.

Dylan put his hand out and touched Nidoking's horn, like usual it pricked him a bit. "Heheh. . . Alright buddy, Kris here is going to teach you some new moves so, just stay calm and you can go back to rest in your ball soon." Dylan whispered softly, though he whispered Nidoking's hearing was superb and it's orders were loud and clear. It looked toward Kris with a frown at first, but it faded quickly and turned into a nod, he was ready to learn.
"Heheh yeah. . ." Dylan muttered in response to what Kristmar had said, he had actually went a long time training, he wanted to be prepared at all times for a battle. He quickly wrapped his hands around the satchel looking down at the egg. "You got one too huh? Lapras is a pretty decent Pokemon." Dylan said recognizing the pattern on the egg.
The egg reminded of him when his Riolu was an egg, and the time it hatched. Dylan made sure he had a firm grip on the egg, he'd feel horrible if something happened to it while Kris gave it to him for a brief moment. "Well, have fun hatching it!" He said as he look a closer look at the egg. They were really wonderful things in Dylan's eyes, if he wasn't a Magma Grunt he'd pursue becoming a Pokemon Professor due to his knack for learning.
"Ah which ones. . . Give em all I guess, I can afford it all!" Dylan said thinking about the prices of each TM. "Yeah that sounds like the best way to go." Dylan added re-assuring himself.

Kris was a little surprised when the guy said he'd take all three on the same pokémon. He blinked at him for a second before letting a wide smile shape his mouth. More moves, after all, meant more cash in his pocket. "Alright then, all three it is." The blonde chimed merrily, turning to the nidoking and trusting that the lapras egg would be secure in Dylan's hands for the time being. "This might take a moment..."
One by one, Kris began setting the technical machines and transferring the information they contained to the stocky beast. He took it slowly, wary of the stocky creature turning on him at some point. It'd be a lot of information for the pokémon to process but, from experience, Kris knew that trained ones like this had an easier time when it came to learning new moves through this unnatural method.
Taking a step back, the blonde withdrew his hands from the powerful nidoking with the last TM clutched in them. He'd saved the strongest - Fire Blast - until last.
"There!" Kris sighed, crouching down in front of Dylan, near his legs, so he could slide the three used items back into his satchel. "That'll be thirteen in total, Dyl." Carefully, he wriggled his fingers under his bag so to pick it up off the teenager's lap without disturbing the egg too much. "It'd be best to practice the moves a little before using them in a proper battle, mind."

Nidoking grunted and looked toward Dylan again who gave him a reassuring nod, the Pokemon then closed its eyes and began trying to relax. It let out deep breaths like it usually does when it tried to focus on something and let go of its tensed muscles. Dylan then nodded toward Kris who repeated him and said it would take a moment, he slowly shuffled his feet waiting.
Nidoking waited patiently for the information to finish being transferred into his mind, when it was all done Nidoking opened it's eyes angrily and looked towards Dylan, who smiled at his Pokemon holding up a hand to tell it to hold it's anger. That made the poison types blood boil even more, it badly wanted to test out it's new moves, but it couldn't use any of them here, not inside a Pokemon center.
Nidoking then turned to Kristmar with a growl, it was obviously trying to be threatening or atleast instigate a fight, but it obviously wouldn't work. "Ah, he's just a bit cranky, heheh don't mind him." When Kristmars back was to the Pokemon Dylan quickly pressed the button on Nidoking's Pokeball and returned the beast as it lifted it's right leg to preform Earthquake. Dylan than pulled out his wallet plucking exactly thirteen poke and handing it over to Kristmar. "There ya go, thanks a bunch Kris! Tell me if you ever get more I just might need them later."

Taking the money offered to him, Kris quickly counted it with his eyes before pocketing it swiftly. Not a bad extra for what was originally just going to be a quick trip to the pokécenter. The blonde hooked his satchel back onto his shoulder, cradling it anyway in the crook of one of his arms, and flashed another smile at the other fair-haired male.
"I'll let you know if I get my hands on anything else," he told Dylan and lifted his free hand to give him a wave goodbye. "Pretty sure I've still got you in my pokénav from that time at the beach anyway. I'll catch you around, Dyl." Thirteen pokédollars better off, the young man began to stroll away, leaving the teenager and riolu to their business, with no clear destination in mind. Perhaps he'd pay his parents a small visit though... since he was here and in better spirits now.
