hello calamity! we're nearing the two months mark in a few weeks. how time flies! right now we have two things going on that need your participation. the first is an activity check! it is impotant that you check in so you don't lose your face claim. the second is the otm nomiations! we're doing it a bit different than last time. so please submit your nominations in. a vote thread will be up in the next few days. there will also be a formal event coming very soon, so keep your eye out for that. keep being cool!
we're currently about to host calamity's first contest in slatepor. trainers are flocking to the city to see, the city's been trying to get good pr since the gala, and it seems to be working! they're asking for both coordinators and volunteer judges to sign up.

Please thread with Dmitri on one of your characters. I'd suggest BENJI FAIRFAX but they're your characters so you probably have a better idea of whom would interact more smoothly with Dmitri. Imagine goofy and hardass in one; that's sort of where Dmitri's persona lies. Not quite rude on purpose, but not quite aware of social standards, being foreign and all.
He has a good heart, just the same doesn't necessarily go for his manners. Please thread with me Peeko.

Dmitri Khvostov i'd actually suggest zelda here for lil dmitri. he dislikes thieving and zelda's a top class one because it's how she's gotten by all these years, and the fact that she sees it as a bit of a robin hood esque thing to justify her actions. zelda's also fairly eccentric and unaccustomed to societal norms, doing whatever she pleases because she's never really dealt with other people. i'd love for a casual thread between the two of them?
Zelda Melchior is such a gorgeous name. Her and Cyg are very similar in terms of personality, specifically morals. However, I feel like they wouldn't be best buds or partners-in-crime because of Cyg's cutthroat, competitive nature and their different backgrounds would probably cause some bad blood between them. Perhaps they could also dislike each other because they can see a subdued vulnerability in one another that makes them feel weak, inadequate, or scared? How she feels about Cyg and reacts to the situation is up to you, naturally, and this is just me envisioning some vague suggestions. A potential thread could be her trying to pull her old tricks on Cyg, and he sees right through it, irked that someone would even try to steal from him since he's so arrogant about his skills. Or Cyg could try to steal from her, if you feel like that would work better for you. He can also be her quarrelsome Team Aqua contact. I'm open to whatever ideas you have as well.

cygnus frey ty ty i rly liked picking out her name!! zelda's ambitious but she's not necessarily competitively so. if it's too much of a hassle, she'd rather just give up on it. trying to steal from him and failing will likely upset her because this is the craft she's honed and someone just busts in to pop her bubble?? she's not going to stand for that lmao. idk how cygnus would feel if he fails to steal from her, though? if he can shrug it off, they could be an odd pair of friends, the term being used very loosely. i can see them both trying to use each other to move up the ladder.
he can spread all the team aqua ideals to her. she loves hearing about urban lifestyles and whatnot so cyg himself is fascinating a subject to her. super disappointed to hear he's exclusively homo tho she'd loved to tap that
Gosh, Zelda must be more of a sweetheart than I originally perceived. Cygnus practically radiates competition and will be put off that she sometimes plays it safe. "Caution is for road signs, not people," something he might say, which makes about as much sense as his sense of self. He likes to be a little dramatic and over-the-top when he does anything illegal because he has this ideal of himself as this cold-hearted criminal with immense talent.
I'm really feeling the plot where she tries to steal from him since I feel like it offers more character development for the both of them. Futhermore, Cyg wouldn't be able to shrug off him failing to steal anything from her; he'd probably blame it on the wind or the placement of her bag and then act disdainful to her for catching him, especially since she's nobody important (his perception, not mine--I love Zelda's character!) He says he holds himself to a high standard, but really he just has an enormous ego. He only does friends if it portends some benefit.
Honestly, he could care less about sea expansion; he just likes being a criminal, so maybe he's not the team aqua member you're looking for haha? They could have some interesting exchanges then, if she's interested about hearing about urban lifestyles (although she'd have to pry some but he likes to brag so it won't be hard.) If she finds him attractive, there can be an awkward moment which ends up in him telling her that he's only interested in men. Maybe she can forgive his ego for a brief time since she finds him attractive? (Sorry for rambling; I'm too interested in this plot! )

cygnus frey aha, sweetheart isn't exactly the word to describe her. she puts up a good show for what it's worth, all smiles on the outside but doesn't have as much of a moral compass when it comes to her trade. she doesn't see herself as a criminal - what a harsh word! - she just thinks that her taking of things is justified if people have an item to spare for someone who doesn't have the item. if he makes himself out to be some sort of villainous criminal, she'll find his thinking endearing. she understands it from a fame point of view - bad rep is better than no rep at all, right?
i can definitely see them clashing in the sense that she's quick to blame herself for failure on her part to steal and it'll definitely put her off for a bit. it's cool if he's not into aqua for its long term goals, those don't really interest her as well. she sees the teams as a potential means to rise to fame/obtain money and if cyg words it right, she'll be on her way to sign up. we can see how it goes, though! and yeah you can be pardoned but only because you got a pretty face ok cutie
FINNIAIN & PIPER So these two would get along well. Piper is just a fun little thing to be around, and enjoys having positive people are her. She's a nature lover as well, and wouldn't mind learning photography from him, they could just be buddies who hang out from time to time. She's got a very headstrong, happy-go lucky, JUST DO IT, personality, and wants to inspire people to follow their dreams. lemme know if you have more ideas. pip needs love!
Nat and Piper Piper needs some Magma buddies. And chick buddies in general. Natalie seems like she's got herself together, research and everything. She has a goal, but piper is kinda like floating, she can't really figure out what she wants, and sees nat as someone she can look up to. she'll admire her and all she does, even try to take her on an adventure. she loves going out in to the world and exploring, probably try to pull her from her work for a bit. and have a total crush on her cause she's a cutie, but feel she's out of her league. lemme know if you have more ideas. pip needs love!
Adel & Bianca Omg Um so they need to just be enemies. Bianca is a no nonesense type of gal. So maybe Adel sees Bianca acting like she's prim and proper, and scoffs cause she's pathetic? Haters gonna haaatttee. But somewhere down the line they have respect for one another?

@piper finnian & piper ohooooo yes!! finnian needs friends close to his age and all that. he and piper would go very well together and i'd love to develop some sort of friendship (and maybe more?? ooo) between the two of them! finnian's not very forward with romance but he might one day blurt out that he thinks she's cute maybe?? we can definitely do a thread on the starting routes with the two of them... she can meet sparky and fluffy his qt pokemon c;
nat & piper ahhh nat will be so flattered by someone having a crush on her... tbh she doesn't think she's good enough for other people and stuff so she'll be very surprised!! nat's an absolute mom though and she understands the feeling of pokemon not listening since her drilbur does that and she's in the process of training her tyrunt into listening... they should def have a thread too (maybe after a thread with finny? humhoo)
adelaide & bianca ade doesn't really care for things like prim and proper, so she'll definitely hate on bianca for it. idk if her pride will ever let her get over it, but otherwise, they are very similar considering they both want to cut people down. she has a dratini and ade has a snorunt, which puts them in a good position for a rivalry... adelaide will always be up for some serious fighting if you're down?
NATALIE OSWALD Finnian and Piper Friend is magic! Piper needs more friends beside her Pokemon, she knows how to make friends, but she doesn't have too many. Maybe they meet up while he's snapping photos, and she's trying to tame her Pokemon, but it isn't working, somehow one of them gets in his shot? And yes, saying she is cute later on would be adorable, she wouldn't know what to say, and be highly flattered. The more part is also welcomed! <3
Nat and Piper: Piper believers everyone deserves someone. She'd probably encourage her to keep going no matter what. She'd also ask for some tips on taming Pokemon, she gets a little sleeppy trying to tame Froakie, he just hops off and leaves her hanging. yes they can thread after meeting fin!
Adel and Bianca- Bianca will just not like this girl at all. She'll feel like her attitude is rude, and make all sorts of comments. And just really not wanna be around her, but they could maybe better each other in some weird way. And she would not mind a battle. She wants to sharpen all her skills, not the just coordinator ones. and she also needs the level ups! Minnie[Dratini] would probably try to rival the Snorunt, cause Dratini wnats to be super fab too, and she likes to be in the spot light.

Kohaku Lee-Yan minjae is 100% unexperienced shy blushy sweet cinnamon roll who doesn't know anything he might just end up encouraging kohaku without even trying lmao... tease him lots and watch him get really really blushy though!! and ugh minjae can never have enough people to be protective over him i just need a mj defense squad tbh... i'll let you know once i get him right out!!
