MAKE ME FEEL
LIKE A GOD
Oldale Town…was not somewhere he was comfortably being in…especially because this was the town he’d just about grew up in after he’d moved to Hoenn. His family was here and his neighbors were here, everyone was here in this little town. So he kept his hair pinned up and his face hidden deeply into the hood of the shirt he was wearing. He’d always figured hiding in plain sight was good but in this moment, unprepared to face the people who’d known him since he was twelve well…he just wasn’t ready.
However, every little bone in his body yearned to go to their farm and at least take a peek at how his family was doing. To see if his little brother and sister had grown at all since the last time he’d seen them, if maman still had laugh lines and papa had that funny little limp that he had so many different stories about. He missed it. He would readily admit to himself that he was homesick but he didn’t have the nerve to face his parents and siblings. Not after he remembered each time the crushed look on his mother’s face, the disappointed shake of his father’s head, his little sister’s tears and the utterly betrayed look of his brother. It still haunted him and he was seriously just not prepared for any kind of meeting with them.
So while he picked up what he needed from the stores and grabbed some clothes to take on the road, Nikkie reminded himself that he would one day come back. It wasn’t forever, just temporarily that he would avoid the eventual meeting with his family. When he was ready and had enough experience under his belt that he could show them something that they could be proud of.
However…perhaps he was being too paranoid though. His eyes traveled to the inn they were staying at and gave a thoughtful hum. They’d been there a few days but no one had really made any move that said they recognized him or had suspicions. It could simply be past worries cropping up and haunting him into being so paranoid. A tired sound puffed past his lips and before he knew it, he was walking past the Inn not noticing anyone. His eyes set on the ground as his thoughts twisted around themselves before he finally stopped…He was almost at Oldale entrance which caused him to blink. Well this was certainly not where he’d meant to walk…Kris would probably be annoyed he’d taken so long. That particular thought making him chuckle and ease just the slightest bit.
Maybe he was simply being paranoid and needed to loosen up a bit. Perhaps…a contest…or a battle would help. He was sure his pokemon were tired of being in their pokeballs anyway…maybe he’d antagonize Kris when he saw him?

Damn this man and his ability to vanish into thin air. The tables had, at some point, turned ever since arriving at Oldale because no longer was it Niklaus wondering where on earth Kristmar had gotten to but, instead, it was now the opposite. Nikkie was the one pulling disappearing acts the second he stepped out of the inn now and Kris was steadily realizing how mildly frustrating it was. It might've just been the simple case that the guy was doing some solo training and bonding with his team in some place he hadn't looked yet and he didn't want any disturbances but... surely, he could just say so, right? Rather than leave a man guessing and wondering, right? [break][break] He didn't quite yet have Niklaus figured out yet, that much was blatantly clear now. The male seemed light-hearted on the surface and cared greatly for his pokémon but, other than that, he knew not much else. He didn't know if he liked to train in solitude prior to gyms (because they'd no doubt challenge the one at petalburg) or if... what if he'd been being too overbearing lately or something without realizing it? [break][break] With that last thought, Kristmar glanced a little nervously towards the pink-haired male's possessions on his side of the room they were staying in. He knew he was a little loud a times, sometimes a little too friendly, occasionally a little too casual but it didn't seem as though it'd bothered Nikkie too much, plus the man seemed like the kind to outright say what was displeasing or bothering him the very moment they did. But when... when Kris caught Nikkie next, he'd make sure to ask. Just to be certain it wasn't that. For now he'd stop... overthinking this, because that was clearly what he was doing. It was probably nothing. [break][break] Using that last thought to reassure himself, the blonde sighed into his hands and dragged his fingertips over his face, trying to physically pull his sudden weariness from his features. He needed a walk, or just some fresh air, or maybe he could find a challenger on one of the routes around Oldale to burn some of this jittery yet tired energy with. Yeah, he'd do that. His team likely would be eager for the exercise anyway. [break][break] The blonde wasted no time in throwing a thin jacket over his arms and attaching his four pokéballs to his belt. He checked his satchel for the few healing items he had - just in case - and was out the door in surprisingly prompt time. [break][break] And... guess who's idiot face he spotted, a small distance away, no sooner had he stepped out of the inn? That bastard Nikkie's. Huh. He wasn't sure if this was meant to be some joke that was lost on him or if luck had just decided to be merciful. He watched how the male wandered in the distance, walking away from the inn rather than to it, and his expression morphed into one of slight irk and curiosity. Where the fuck was he off to now? [break][break] "Nik!" He shouted before the guy could get too far and trotted after him to catch up. "Where the hell have you been? I've been, like, lookin' for you, y'know?"

MAKE ME FEEL
LIKE A GOD
Nikki honestly hadn’t noticed any disappearing acts he’d been pulling. In fact in his mind he could swear he always mentioned that he was going out before he actually left…sure sometimes he might fail to mention where out is but he didn’t always. It wasn’t like he always left the sanctity of the little town but once in a while he did go wandering around the routes either to catch pokemon, think or simply meet other trainers. He needed some way of letting out his pokemon and making sure they didn’t get too cramped in their pokeballs considering during their time with him they’d gotten used to being let out regularly. He was sure this current time in this little town was torture for Kalos especially who had spent more time in a pokeball than all of them. A small fond smile curled his lips as he knew the turtle-like pokemon would not be pleased with him the next time he was let out of his pokeball. Hopefully he’d find some way to make it up to the Squirtle.
His mind almost completely froze and turned over to panic mode when someone called out to him in a familiar voice. For a moment his mind refusing to register where that voice was familiar from as his mind flashed through too many possibilities. Had someone somehow seen his face? Had someone somehow recognized him?? For one cowardly moment he considered bolting. His body tensed and coiled, reading to spring before the person kept speaking. They were closer this time and he was more able to recognize their voice without a moment’s hesitation.
Kris…it was just Kristmar.
The pinkette’s body instantly released all tension making him sag immediately, his mind only now realizing he’d done the instinctual thing of reaching for his pokeballs. He let out a sharp agitated sound at the very Magma thing to do and gave his hand a disgusted and betrayed look before turning to look at Kris with a bright but false smile. He scolded himself for being so paranoid again even as his eyes darted around to see if no one was looking—which they weren’t—before they rested only on Kris. Giving his traveling companion a bemused look he held up the bags in his hands that had the supplies they would need on their journey to petalburg and the extra clothes he bought. “I went shopping for a bit. I didn’t realize I had to tell you everywhere I went…mother.” His tone was smooth and teasing like it usually was and he relaxed a little further in knowing his earlier panic as well as annoyance didn’t show…at least he didn’t think so.
He smirked amusedly at Kris as he spoke up again teasing him a bit, “You obviously either didn’t search everywhere or you didn’t search very well.” Rolling his shoulder a bit and shifting the bags in his hands he gave the blonde a curious look, “Anyway whats up?”

The blonde had been too far away to catch the male's apparent distress on suddenly being called to from afar. He missed how the guy instinctively froze and tensed, reaching for his pokéballs, and he entirely appeared to overlook the man's startled air despite willing himself to be calm once Kris reached where he was stood. He really had no idea that he'd just given his companion a mild heart attack for reasons that he'd probably actually be able to sympathize with. [break][break] Arching a quizzical eyebrow at him, Kristmar let his eyes drift down to the shopping bags he held. He let himself made a rude scoffing noise as well. Mother? The teasing term didn't appeal to him at all, but it'd be a slight lie if he tried to claim that he hadn't been mildly fretting over the man and his whereabouts. So... for now... he let this one slide without much more reaction on his part. [break][break] "Shopping, huh?" He asked, sounding not entirely convinced, as he glanced over his shoulder, in direction of the inn, which was in the opposite direction to which Nik had been headed. He smelt a little rat here somewhere. "You've definitely been takin' your sweet time with it. I thought I'd already checked the shops." [break][break] Kris gave the pinkette a lingering look, a subtly questioning one that hinted that he didn't quite believe him. His crimson eyes bored into his comely features with a dull air, letting them stare long enough for it to be clear that it was intentional, before reaching for one of the bags he carried. He let his chest deflate with a sigh and bowed his head, his sandy bangs curtaining the sides of his face, and wiggled his fingers around the flimsy plastic handle of the bag emblazoned with a store's logo. [break][break] "Fuckin' bored, that's what's up." He grumbled. "When're we goin' to Petalburg? I heard they're holdin' a festival soon and it sounds a lot more fun than this ghost town. My team's bored too; they haven't had a decent scrap in days." [break][break] Well, some of his team - and by 'some', he meant one single member, Adelaide - was fine with not being battled. It was his gible that was champing at the bit to release some pent-up energy. After the way Deimos had gnawed mercilessly on furniture in the last guesthouse they'd stayed at, Kristmar's reluctance to let him roam about freely in rented rooms was very understandable. [break][break] "What about you anyway?" Kris tongued the inside of his cheek idly as he looked at Niklaus again. Unlike the other, he wasn't exactly in a very teasing mood and it showed quite well. "You've made yourself pretty scarce these past couple of days."

Niklaus…didn’t care much for his companions questioning gaze. He especially didn’t care for the disbelief in his tone and the slight narrowing of his eyes said as much before it smoothed over and he gave Kris a pleasant smile. “I didn’t realize I needed permission to roam around once I was done with the shopping. I was sure I left certain places so I wouldn’t need to give permission.” There was an edge to his mockingly thoughtful tone as he took a jab at Kris with less than kind intentions. They’d both left Magma for reasons and he was sure being ordered around and having to tell someone their every move was one of them. He didn’t have to tell Kris where he was going and he was sure his stuff was back at the inn so it wasn’t like he was going to leave the little blonde alone here. However, the false smile slowly softened to an amused look when Kristmar reached for one of the bags and Nikki more than happily handed it over with no protest.
He let out a soft snort at Kristmar’s complaint and touched the pokeballs at his side once more, this time with a more fond expression on his face. “Yes…I suppose Oldale could be considered boring. I haven’t had a good battle yet either…It’s been a while." Since his time in magama in fact and that had been quite a few days ago if not weeks considering everything. The only real battling that could be considered had been during that day with the freak gale when he’d gotten Mimi. “I suppose we can head to petalpurb tomorrow or the next day. I’ve gathered most of our supplies so there’s not much else that we need. It’d be up to you if you wanted to go then…from which I take it tomorrow would be preferable??” His tone had a slight teasing undertone at the last word, remembering Kris’ almost whining tone upon mentioning being bored.
Niklaus let out a little breath, eyes narrowing the slightest again at Kris once again pointing out that he’d not been in the inn or around him lately. “Kristmar if I wanted a mother that would keep tabs on my whereabouts I’d stay here and go home.” Not that he could go home…not yet at least.
The pinkette rolled his eyes as he spoke up once more, “I’ve been here. Preparing for our journey to petalburg and roaming around the routes to see if things were okay. Anything else…mother?” The last word having an exasperated note to it as he slid a sideways glance at the other male as he turned to look around him. A few people glanced their way with bored interest but otherwise they were being ignored. He’d forgotten how the people of Oldale could get a bit oblivious at times. They were so used to strangers and trainers passing by their quaint little town they rarely ever actually bothered to take notice. What had he been worried about earlier??

The rose-haired male clearly didn't appreciate Kristmar nosing into his business, given his tone and the subtly harsh edge his expression adopted. But... the man was right. Kris honestly had no business meddling in Nikkie's affairs, he could show interest and concern - sure - but perhaps he was coming off the wrong way. After all, the guy's attitude had gone from teasing to teetering on blatant irritation in less than three seconds. But, the thing was, he was right. Kristmar wasn't his mother, wasn't his keeper, wasn't anyone to maintain tabs on him. [break][break] The blonde lowered his eyes to the shopping bag he carried, a little scolded but still surly. [break][break] "Was just wonderin' what you were gettin' up to," he admitted, rolling one of his shoulders. "It's borin' around here. That's all." In his eyes, the whole point of travelling together was to have the simple comfort of company and safety on the more treacherous routes. Kristmar wasn't one for solitude, he enjoyed being around people, and if, already, Niklaus was disappearing on him... well... he was just a little bit worried. [break][break] But, gott, the more he thought about it, the more dumb and childish it sounded. Kris gave a hasty shake of his head to chase away his fair-haired locks from his eyes, also physically shaking away these thoughts. Time to channel the subject in a different direction because he really did step on Niklaus' toes. Like, fuck, he didn't want to seem... clingy. [break][break] "As soon as tomorrow?" He echoed the male. "Sounds good to me. Kinda wanna get to Petalburg before all the rooms are booked up, too." And, from what he'd heard, quite a few trainers were already making their way to said town. To be honest, they'd be lucky if they scored a decent place with vacancy. Kris would even take a mediocre room if it meant not having to get their tent out so early into their journey. [break][break] "How is your team anyway?" Kris lifted his eyes from the carrier bag and let them linger on the pokéballs on his touchy travelling partner's belt. "I haven't seen that hoppip since you caught it... is it alright?"

Niklaus watched as Kristmar seemed to deflate under his sharp words and annoyed looked. The old Nikkie, the sadist of Magma took pleasure in watching the usually spunky blonde bend under his words…But this was his traveling companion. The young man he’d be spending his journey with and had slowly been finding himself growing a little fond of. The Nik of now felt a little guilty…
With a little sigh he lifted the hood slightly to run his hand through his hair before fixing it and letting out a little sound. To think that after all this time emotions like guilt and pity could still affect him for human beings…or perhaps it was just Oldale? Bringing out the feelings he’d once had before he tossed them away upon joining Magma and then becoming Admin. His features softened just a tad more and he let a bemused smile curl his lips as he looked at Kris’ bowed head. “I’m sorry…I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I’m just…jittery here. I’m ready to leave. I didn’t expect we’d be staying here so long and I don’t want to run into anyone.” Nothing was a lie in those words but they weren’t the whole truth either but then…he didn’t know Kris that well just yet. Maybe later down the line he’d open up a bit more if they were still together and less new to each other.
The pinkette let out a thoughtful hum and the blonde’s words, acknowledging them and knowing them to be true. There’d been a lot of trainers Passing by this town lately, rushing to get to Petalburg for some reason or another. If he remembered there was a gym there and a…festival or something?? “Yeah I remember seeing quite a few passing trainers the last few days. Apparently there’s some kind of event or festival going on right now.” His features twisted and he looked past Kristmar’s shoulder thoughtfully as he spoke up unthinkingly, “I wonder if either team aqua or team magma will take the chance to cause some mischief and show up…” He shook his head and gave the other male a wry smile as he said, “But nah I think we’ll make it there in time to get some good rooms thankfully.”
At the mention of his pokemon and question of their wellbeing his featurs completely melted into a fond smile as he looked down at his pokeballs once more. “Kalos is a little sore with me but I’ve been letting them out as much as I can while strolling around the routes.” He blinked at the mention of the Hoppip before chuckling in amusement, “Mimi is perfectly fine. She’s been a sweet little thing and rather happy with the group…Ventus on the other hand well…He and Rhyse are probably going to have to be kept apart.” There was a rueful note in his words as he shook his head with a wry smile at the thought of those two particular pokemon of his.

"I doubt that theywill make an appearance... it's just a small little festival, after all," Kristmar told the other male, pursing his lips but giving a vaguely humoured smirk. "M'sure they have better things to do than stir up trouble in a little seaside town." Or, at least, so he hoped. What he'd voiced were his own hopes and an attempt to convince himself because now that Niklaus mentioned it, he hadn't given the two opposing organizations much thought lately. Not since he'd encountered that aqua grunt in Littleroot's outskirts. But - Kris gave Nik a small glance, a glimmer of worry showing in his crimson eyes - they wouldn't, surely. It might be near the sea but... it was still just a modest festival and the towns around here were tiny. Both he and Nikkie had no reason to feel jittery or unsettled quite yet. [break][break] They could relax; there'd be time to be on edge later on. [break][break] The slight flare of tension that'd welled up at his companion's words subsided a little on seeing the affectionate smile that softened his expression. He hadn't known Nik for very long but he was certain he hadn't seen anything other than pokémon have that effect on him - getting him to fondly simper with the adoration of a doting mother - and it made the corner of Kris' lips twitch in amusement despite his faint unease. [break][break] "Deimos is being a little nightmare as well, he hates being in his pokéball so much," or, at least, he was an energetic whirlwind that must feel the need to overcompensate for being put away. "The wild ones I caught have calmed down a lot though." Although they still probably weren't nice enough to be considered sweet like Nikkie's hoppip. Kris still felt it was a little bit unfair that he'd ended up with the... handfuls while Niklaus had ended up with the gentle one. It almost felt as though it'd been done by purpose. Hmm. [break][break] Kristmar narrowed his eyes slightly, a little smirk curling his lips, as he looked back over at his fawning companion. [break][break] "I'm not busy right now," he started slowly in a low tone, his gaze dropping to Nik's belt, "and neither are you, so it seems. So..." He jerked his head sideways, gesturing to the line of trees that bordered Oldale on all sides, save for where the routes connected with the town. "...want a quick battle? I'm kinda curious to see that noibat - Ventus - of yours in battle. Nothing... too heavy, obviously. Just a little playful sparring."

Nikki clearly noticed the nervous energy coming from the smaller male upon the mention of Magma and Aqua. The pinkette couldn’t help the smirk that curled his lips, taking pleasure in it just a little more than he probably should have. However, he enjoyed teasing the blonde and Kristmar just made it so easy to torture him anyway, it’s not his fault. He hummed thoughtfully before he shrugged his shoulders, “Perhaps, you know how grunts are though. They’re always roaming around scouting everywhere even little towns like that.” It wasn’t a lie, sometimes they’d needed things done and they’d ordered the grunts to do some scouting for them but well…that was in the past. Heaven knew what was being done now and if things had changed since he’d been gone.
At the talk of Deimos and Krismar’s wild pokemon Nikkie perked up just a bit, curiosity piqued and the desire to see what they were like now igniting in them. They’d been strong pokemon already when they’d gotten them but now that Kristmar has had them for a while and they’d calm down certainly they would be good pokemon. After all Kristmar had a good strong team on his hands even if he was a little exasperated with them. “That’s good, I’m sure once we get that gym badge as well they’ll be even calmer under your belt so you shouldn’t worry too much about that.” Wild pokemon would always have a few tendencies like that but Nikki never took it to heart, they were like children to him.
At Kristmar’s challenge—because really that’s what that had been—Nikki blinked in mild surprise because hadn’t he been thinking along the same lines?? He considered it for a moment and allowed his gaze to roam the area nonchalantly, seeing that there weren’t many people in the area. A slow sharp smirk curled his lips and he shrugged his shoulders as he picked out a pokeball from his side and started strolling over to the area as he tossed it in the air a couple of times. “Sure Kristmar, we can play a little.” His sanguine gaze slid over his shoulder to look at the other red eyed male with a challenging look, his head tilted slightly in a superior manner as he looked down on Kris. “Just make sure to keep up, I’ll even let you choose the first pokemon you’ll bring out.”

Every so often, it seemed to slip Kristmar's mind under what circumstances he'd met Niklaus and where the man had came from. He'd been just a lowly grunt, a low-tier worker that ran around accomplishing all manner of menial and repetitive tasks under his superiors' beck and call. Niklaus had been, once upon a time, one of those superiors although Kris had never taken orders directly from him. He'd been an admin, something you were only really promoted to if you met the criteria and one of the requisites was, of course, experience in battling. [break][break] He was suddenly reminded of this when he saw how cooly Niklaus looked over at him, challenging him with his gaze alone, and displayed nothing other than confidence. Kris sensed even a condescending air in his words as he was told he could choose his starting opponent. [break][break] Kristmar gave a harsh snort and jerked his chin upwards, shooing his sandy blonde bangs from his eyes. He was alright with being challenged but - fuck - not with being insulted. The blonde stalked over to the clearer area, away from the houses and buildings and over to where the town met the forest, and gave the other a subtle yet piercing stare. He might not be the best trainer around but he didn't need pity. A little irked, even if it were perhaps just the usual battle banter that arose when people got into competitive spirits, Kris pursed his lips at Niklaus and narrowed his eyes - an almost identical shade of vivid vermilion - just the slightest touch. [break][break] A little smile crinkled the corners of his eyes regardless as did the corners of his primmed up lips curl. [break][break] "Don't patronize me," he told Niklaus, bending over a little so to place the carrier bag he ported on the ground. "Or else you're going to end up eating those words. You're not the only one who's been training, you know?" And, so to prove that he wasn't bothered or intimidated in the least, Kristmar reached for the pokéballs attached to his belt and, with a flick of his wrist, called out his first choice onto the field. The small ralts appeared about half a dozen feet in front of her trainer, glancing back quickly at him over her shoulder and turning her focus to her opponent - Kristmar's friend, to her surprise - after receiving an encouraging nod from the blonde. [break][break] You're... fighting Niklaus, Kristmar? She asked him via telepathy, her lips pouting as she assumed a more guarded stance. Kris' faint smile grew a tiny bit and he murmured in return: "We're only playing, don't worry. It's not for serious," he gave a hum of amusement, "not yet, at least."

Niklaus noticed the instant his words lit a fire under Kristmar’s ass. Saw the way he almost seemed to puff up like an agitated bird and it really was just adorable and he had to chuckle. However, it was good when Kristmar seemed to take it in stride and let his own lips curl as he offered up his own little bit of battle banter. Nikki’s brow arched in amusement as he said mockingly to the blonde, “Oh really? Eat my words, huh? This I must see, Kris. Please do show me where your training has gotten you.” Nikkie was no idiot, he hadn’t gotten to be Admin in Magma by underestimating people and as much as he taunted Kris he wasn’t stupid enough to assume he would win automatically. Battling was as much about chance as it was about skill and strategy.
Nik watched as Kristmar called his Ralts to the field and he studied her with a critical eye, ruby eyes hardening just the slightest as he noticed little things. She still seemed a little unsure in a battle scenario and she automatically turned to look at Kristmar. It was cute and it meant that she at least seemed to trust her trainer. Nodding his head he tossed an off handed praise to Kris in regards to her. “She’s looking a lot better. I might actually be impressed.” He continued tossing the pokeball a few times as he let out a thoughtful hum, watching the Ralts for a moment before catching the pokeball in mid-air. “Alright then…I guess we’ll do this, hatchling against hatchling.” Without further ado he called out Ventus, the noibat blinking at suddenly being released before hurrying over to Nikki shyly and clinging to his clothes. Huffing fondly he scratched one of the pokemon’s huge ears before murmuring, “None of that right now, Ven. Time to get you some practice, okay?”
The little noibat looked up at his human maman with wide trusting eyes before nodding slightly, with a couple of wobbly flaps of his wings he was across from Addie. He greeted her shyly with a few soft clicks of his name, shifting on the ground where he’d landed awkwardly and cocking his head as he awaited orders. Nikkies eyes watched his noibat for a few moments before looking up at Krstmar with a little smile, gesturing politely towards Addie as he murmured. “Ladies first~” He smirked making it obvious that he could very well be talking about Kristmar just as much as he was talking about Addie with that little comment.

Honest to god, was he really going to have to correct what he'd just told his ralts? That they weren't going at this for serious? Kristmar was aiming to have a friendly battle, one that wasn't taken too seriously and merely served as an opportunity to kill some time while getting more in-battle experience for their younger pokémon. But, regardless, Niklaus appeared to have a knack for knowing how to get Kris riled, how to stoke his more competitive side awake. Like, what was that supposed to mean? That he might be impressed about his ralts? Hell, they'd only been together for a short while and, despite her being rather quiet and soft-spoken, she was a pretty tough little girl. [break][break] That's nice of Niklaus, Adelaide chimed, a merry note to her lilting voice, letting us go first. [break][break] Kristmar gave a heavy sigh, slightly despairing at his ralts' naïveté. The seemingly gentlemanly display had been directed at her but the smirk that accompanied it had been directed to Kris. He tensed his jaw and gave the other male a very unimpressed glower, clearly none too pleased about what he insinuated. [break][break] You don't... seem too--"It's fine, Adelaide," he interrupted, cutting her off in a short mutter. "If he wants to let us go first, so be it." All they'd have to do then was repay Niklaus' subtle cheek by taking advantage of striking first and make him regret not seizing the chance, and all for a sneaky dig at Kris. [break][break] The blonde, trying to appear unperturbed, schooled his features into a more placid expression. He'd... let Niklaus' comment slide due to the fact that he really couldn't have asked for a better start considering Niklaus' current team. He must've sent his recently hatched dragon with the confidence that Adelaide, still being so young, wouldn't yet know a fairy move that'd put Ventus in peril. Kris had to purse his lips a touch tighter to stop himself from smiling a little slyly; he hadn't been kidding when he said they'd been training and he felt a little excitement in being able to surprise Niklaus with the move he'd taught Adelaide rather soon. [break][break] "Move around with double team," he instructed after a moment's silence. "And then use confusion, Addy!" [break][break] Obediently, the ralts followed her trainer's orders and she began to dark around their small makeshift battle field at a speed that was difficult to perceive with the eye. She'd appear, disappear, reappear; lingering in various locations for split-seconds at a time as she bode a little time before using confusion. After her bid to disorientate the noibat, she released a burst of psychic energy from the red horns on her head, focusing it on the tiny bat.

Kris really was too easy to rile up, it was absolutely adorable to see as he silently seethed to himself and said something to his pokemon. A soft smirk rested on Niklaus’ lips as he watched the interaction, completely unperturbed by the glower sent his way although the sudden but subtly shift in Kristmar’s demeanor instantly alerted him to something. He gave his traveling companion a calculating look and allowed a slow mildly excited smile to pull at his lips…Seems like this battle would be a little interesting. He hummed softly and murmured at Ventus, “Keep on your toes, Ven. Remember…Don’t let them get in an inch once they’ve made their move.” The dual type let out a soft noise of agreement before the battle had suddenly begun.
Ventus let out a startled sound, wings batting agitatedly as Adelaide’s double team took him off-guard enough to take the brunt of confusion. Niklaus winced sympathetically but watched as the little pokemon shook off the affects in an almost canine like fashion. Smirking proudly Nikki gave his order without a second thought, “Go in for the kill, Ventus. Screech, then get in there and use tackle.” The dual type pokemon let out an excited sound before letting out a Screech at Addie puffing up and suddenly lunging forward. If there was one thing he could say about his Ventus, the little thing was fast and he smirked as the little dual dragon went to Tackle Adelaide harshly.
His mind vaguely flitted over the fact that while Ralts was a dual type as well…it was a psychic type and what were psychic types weak against?? Bug type moves and he had one just up his sleeve that would help win this as well as get Ventus some health back. The little pokemon had gotten rather good at using it so he had no doubt that they could pull it off with no problem. Looking up at the other male he nodded his approval, “Alright, point taken I guess I should take this a little seriously then?” He was still taunting him, insinuating he hadn’t been taking any of this seriously and he knew he was being an ass but it was just so easy to rile the other male up and after their earlier little tiff he deserved to make the blonde haired male a little pissy…besides it was just adorably funny.

Ah... that screech. The ear-piercing noise that the bat released was harsh enough to send a gentle shudder down the blonde's spine as it grated on his eardrums. Adelaide fared much worse than her trainer though and her little hands were thrown up to clutch at her head as the shrieking seemingly echoed in her ears. She unintentionally lowered her defenses and left herself more vulnerable to attack, the haunting noise making it difficult to concentrate. Kris saw this, just as the noibat took his chance to tackle into the ralts, and a very faint grimness flickered over his face. Ralts, as a pokémon, didn't have the best defense to boast about and having it lowered in such a sharp manner really wasn't something they could be doing with. [break][break] They'd have to hurry it along a little, lest Kris wanted to give the noibat more chances to screech. [break][break] Adelaide shook her small bodice after receiving the physical attack from the dragon pokémon and took the opportunity to skitter back a few steps to place herself out of reach. Her confusion attack didn't appear to have disorientated the noibat sufficiently enough for Kris' liking so... it was perhaps time to try their hand at hitting hard. [break][break] "Get close with double team, Addy." He told her, gesturing with an idle hand at their current opponent. "Get real close and then use that pretty move of yours, hm?" [break][break] O-Oh, you mean--"Mhm. That one," Kristmar hummed, letting his sly confidence show a little. "Don't let the noibat lower your defense further." [break][break] The small dual type gave a little dip of her head before, once again, she apparently vanished. She moved across the field with a burst of speed, letting her slight silhouette flicker into visibility enough to try confounding her foe. She darted around - left, right and right left - using the area they had for the battle at her freedom, trying to make her movements as erratic as possible so to baffle the young noibat enough to make avoiding her large-range attack a very hard feat to pull off. [break][break] Suddenly, the ralts appeared before her foe, touchable and real, and she threw out her arms to the sides. Her horns glittered faintly, gathering energy from within, and her air around her shifted. The slight sparkling grew and pulsed, its intensity increasing, before Adelaide released it all in one powerful and blinding surge. An unblemished light was expelled from her tiny bodice and it raced across the field in a tangible wave of manifested fairy energy, heading straight for the noibat.

A flush of pride filled him as he watched the attack work, screech working to lower Addie’s defense’s while Ventus went in for the attack. It was the perfect strategy and just like usual it didn’t disappoint him as the attack hit right on point and the Ralts retreated a little ways. The attack managed to do some damage which was exactly what he needed but he barely had time to react when Kris subtly ordered a retaliation attack and suddenly Adelaide was using double team once again. Ventus let out a little startled sound, unprepared for the fast movement and attempted to back away. Niklaus gritted his teeth, bracing right along Ventus when the ralts suddenly stopped in front of the dual type dragon. Niklaus recognized the move a second too late and before he could yell out a warning, the Noibat was caught in the wicked blast.
He watched his Noibat for a moment as the poor creature layed on the ground for a moment trying to recover from the hit it took. “Ven….You alright there?” The little pokemon opened his eyes and glanced at his maman let out a soft click of its name in affirmative before rising once more and huffing lightly. Reassured Niklaus allowed his gaze to rest on Kristmar and his Ralts, slowly a bark of laughter rose to his lips before he calmed and let a hand rest on his hip. “Well…to think you had that hiding up your sleeve. I’m impressed.” He grinned sharply at the blonde before his gaze slid his pokemon once more and Noibat looked back at him. “You good to continue?” Ventus let out a sharp click of his name, battered but still standing firm as he glared down the opposing Ralts. Another rush of pride filled Niklaus before he nodded his head firmly. “Right then, it’s time to give them a little of their own medicine then. Use Supersonic and then…why not make yourself feel a little better?”
Ventus blinked…confused for a moment before what his trainer meant registered and without further hesitation he reacted. Inhaling deeply much like when he’d done his screech Ventus released it but instead of the screech he’d used before they were sonic waves, directing the Supersonic straight for Adelaide. Not pausing a second after he’d ended it he was in the air heading straight for Kris’ Ralts with claws and teeth reaching to sink in and Leech Life from the female pokemon.
