Once again the female hardly noticed the male's anxiousness. The stuttering and the rambling could all be overlooked with a simple excuse of the adrenaline from performing wearing off substantially. As for the blushing it was hard to see with the darkness of night shrouding the skies though the feeling of warmth enveloping her hand was difficult to miss. His answer had the female giggling, using her free hand to press against her lips to prevent herself from being too loud or rude. What he had said was not expected and certainly refreshing to hear. After all it wasn't every day that someone shared the same goals as herself. "Haha, I'm the same as you I guess," she finally commented brightly.
She would cast her soft gaze into the sky, thinking introspectively for a moment. This was the reason she left her home and at this point she couldn't go back. Nevertheless she smiled at the thought though it was a sad one that she hoped that Cain couldn't read. "My goal is to just travel around and see the world with everything it has to offer. Traveling with pokemon and becoming a trainer just seemed like a good way for me to do that." With that she lowered her gaze and shifted her attention back to the blonde. It was truthfully getting late and while she was worried that the male would get himself into another mess, staying out for much longer wouldn't be wise. Syndra had stayed out much later than she expected to as well which didn't help. "What are your plans after this? Are you staying somewhere nearby?"
[attr=class, ashes] her hands are warm, he notices. he holds her hand loosely, but it's a welcome feeling compared to the chill air that surrounds them. it's not long before he forgets about the feeling, even unconsciously swinging their linked hands a little.
cain tilts his head to the side. the same? he's never really heard people say that before. most had a goal, whether it's to conquer the hoenn league or to become the top coordinator. it's not everyday that he meets someone who just wants to explore. he turns to look at syndra. her smile is soft, and he smiles back. it's too dim to see anything out of the ordinary.
"uhh..." cain drifts off. he doesn't really have any plans. he never does. "i think i'll just head back to the pokemon center and get ready for tomorrow." he murmurs and yawns. it is pretty late outside. the moon hangs high in the sky, and spills it's light across the area. it's pretty at least, walking down the beach like this."what about you? where are you staying?" cain asks. he's not exactly the chivalrous type. there is no doubt that syndra is strong and can protect herself, but it's comforting to walk someone home.
and he wouldn't mind spending a little bit more time holding hands, either.
A breath of appreciation was released as Cain responded to her. It was something normal and tame, nothing extreme that she had to worry about. "That's good." His voice was low on the other hand. The yawn that followed only solidified for her that it was time to go to bed. The yawn slowly also infected Syndra as a mild yawn escaped which was covered once again with her free hand for politeness. Afterwards she attempted a one arm stretch in an attempt to give herself more energy to stay awake when the question came. Did she forget to comment she was going to the same place?
Nevermind it. She smiled despite her somewhat tired expression sitting on her face. "I'm also staying at the Pokemon Center," she stated tranquilly in a lighthearted tone. We can walk back together and part ways once we get there. Unless you'd rather not be seen together with little old me." She teased this jokingly. Back when she took her brothers to town they had lately gotten to the point where they constantly defiantly stopped her from appearing with them to meet their friends. Said it was embarrassing especially when holding hands with them. Maybe Cain was the same way and didn't want his buddies to see him holding hands with a girl. Or just to be seen publicly in a way. The other male didn't appear unpopular or anything so it was a possibility. Then again he wasn't opposed to holding hands in the first place so maybe it wasn't as big a deal as she was making it out to be.
"mhmm." he hums before her yawn infects him. he makes a big inhale and exhale, eyes drearily blinking in the night. if he wasn't walking he'd probably fall asleep right then and there. it's a warm summer night, and holding syndra's hand provides a certain sense of security that'd lull him to sleep any other time.
"oh, that's cool." so syndra's also staying at the pokemon center. he'd think that someone a refined as her would stay at a high end hotel or something, but evidently not. maybe she's dedicated to the trainer life. or is a little strapped for money. nonetheless, it makes cain feel a little bit better about staying at the center for the night. it's nice knowing that he's not all alone, sleeping next to random strangers who probably have terrifying pokemon under their belts.
he blinks, "no, of course i wouldn't mind. it'd be an honor, actually." cain grins. he squeezes it just a little tighter in reassurance, more for himself than for syndra. he's only have a couple short relationships in his life, and he briefly entertains the thought of asking syndra out on a date or something, but he can't bring himself the courage to say anything.
His reaction to her words was cute. It put a more lighthearted smile to her face. The feeling of his grip tightening in her hand caused her to do the same in response. It was sweet and somewhat innocent of him which was relatively unexpected to say the least. It was only a few days ago or so that he had seemed to go off the deep end from the intake of questionable substances, a fact she tried to push to the back of her mind. "Honor? Haha," the laugh was short and her tone almost sounded disbelieving. "I hope I'm worthy of such praise."
Thinking on the future wasn't very much Syndra's strongest point but luckily this question has come and gone past her several times within the last few days. Since the Petalburg festival was almost over it was about time for her to move on as well. "Hmm. I think I'll be going to Rustboro then Dewford." Her goal was to at least reach these places so she wouldn't get lost in the future traveling backwards. Both those locations had gyms and either way she'd have to circle back to challenge them. "Hopefully I can at least visit Dewford before the Slateport event. What about you? What are you planning to go?"
despite what many may think, cain isn't some random druggie. he's also a person. he tries to be a good person. he tries to keep his dark habits seperate from his personal life. syndra may think he's a little crazy, but he's just glad that she doesn't suddenly generalize him because of that incident. he wants friends. he wants to be loved.
"uh yeah." cain says, suddenly a sheepish of his words. a light blush coats his cheeks. "you are in my book..." he says, a little more hesitantly. syndra shouldn't be so modest. but then again, cain can't say that he's the most confident person, either.
he listens carefully, nodding at her plan. she wants to go to the slateport event. cain does too, and smiles. maybe he'll even see her there. "that sounds like a good plan." he says, "i was thinking the same thing. the slateport event sounds fun, at least."
it's not long before they stop at the pokemon center. the yellow lights shine from inside the building. he's tried, but cain has to admit, he's had fun. but now that he's here he doesn't really know what to do.
As the blush of embarrassment, or how Syndra saw it, colored his cheeks the girl's smile grew larger. For the most part she was flattered to have any sort of praise so she was relatively elated for now. "Thank you Cain. I appreciate it," she finally acknowledged as she playfully flicked his forehead softly to make sure not to hurt him.
It seemed that Cain intended to go to the slateport gala too which wasn't much of a surprise. She would be more shocked if she didn't see people she knew at the event. "I'll see you there then," she followed up. Normally she would have offered to travel together temporarily but with all the side trips she planned ahead of time it wouldn't have been reasonable to ask Cain to tag along with them. On top of that while traveling with others was nice and all that wasn't much her thing for extended periods. Speaking of traveling they didn't take long to reach the pokemon center either.
"I had some fun too. Glad you enjoyed it." Despite the karaoke ordeal and the blackout right after, it wasn't a bad night. Talking with Cain and enjoying an evening stroll was always relaxing. She didn't let go of Cain's hand yet but loosened her grip to allow him to free himself if he wished. Suddenly as if remembering something the girl used her free hand to pull out a small device from her belt. "Before we part ways do you want to exchange contact information? I figure we'll run into each other more but just in case."
cain smiles. he's glad that syndra appreciates it. she flicks his forehead, not painfully, but enough to surprise him. he slightly reels back, rubbing on his forehead and giving her a mockingly hurt look. "ouch syndra, i didn't know you were that strong." he even puts on a little pout for effect.
cain nods at syndra's reply. so she'll be there too. the gala is bound to be fun -- especially if syndra's supposed to be there. whatever happens, happens, but cain's going to go for sure now. he sees her grab her pokenav out of her belt, so he does, too. his hands fall out of syndra's grasp, and cain finds that he kinda misses the feeling.
the cold air that brushes across his skin is strange and foreign, but he knows that if he were to hold her hand it would imply something more. "uh yeah, of course!" cain says. he slides over the screen with a deft finger and makes a new contact and offers the device to syndra. with a nod he reaches forward to take hers and put his own contact information in.
"so...i'll see you soon?" cain says, grinning. he doesn't really want to part but it's probably for the best. with a final wave at syndra cain enters the door of the pokemon center and disappears into his room for the night.
His joking antics earned him a chuckle from the green haired trainer as she shook her head. "I didn't either. Maybe I should look into becoming a superhero instead," she joked with ease. As Cain slipped his hand out of hers she reflexively curled her fingers inward into her palm. The missing sensation of warmth that was only moments present now lost she curbed her attention elsewhere. It didn't take long for the exchange of numbers to happen. After Cain handed her his PokeNav she entered her own contact information and handed it back to him like it was nothing.
"Yeah, I'll see you soon," she replied back as her mind took a mental picture of the wide grin he gave her. It was nice to feel appreciated and she waved back as he escaped away into the pokemon center. Before she lost sight of him though she walked in herself and cupped her hands to her lips to project her voice. "Take care of yourself!" Getting that off her chest the girl exhaled once more and walked the opposite direction to where her room was. It was about time to retire for the night and a yawn strengthened that argument further.
