Route 101 was just as she thought it would be. Beautiful in it's own right, but leaving her wanting more. She was currently giving Aigis and Miasma a break though, they had worked hard enough for today just trying to bond with one another. Arceus have mercy... these two would be the end of one another. Starting battles against each other just because. She was positive Miasma asked for it, though all the skrelp did was sit there and stare the pawniard down. Maybe it said things she couldn't hear? Who knew. Maybe they just didn't get along...
Heaving a sigh as she made her way down the route, she put her hands on her hips and arched a brow at passing people. Beautiful people like the region. Really Nia had a hard time finding a lack of beauty in most anything.
It was quiet, and Penelope could tell that the route would hold challenges ahead of her. She was heading back to Littleroot, or more so the bar just outside Littleroot, after receiving some interesting intelligence about the person she had been looking for. Of course, it wasn't like she couldn't stop along the way and have a beer, right? After all, it was the birthplace of her new found love for Hoenn - among other things - or people.
As she passed people on the route, she nodded her head in slight courtesy, before continuing on her way. However, there was one blonde head that stood out to her more than the rest of the mullers of the route, as as she got closer, anxiety hitched in her chest.
The last time she saw this person, she had cried and said goodbye.
"I guess Hoenn is the land of harsh reunions..." Penelope thought to herself before straightening up and trying to look as if she hadn't just gone straight from Elijah's to the road without a shower.
"Hey." Penelope said quietly as she neared the other woman.
Speaking of beauty, Natalia's head turned to see who had said hey to whom. Why? Because she had a bad habit of being nosey. Most of the time in her line of work this wasn't exactly a bad habit, but normal people in a normal social setting thought it was a bad habit. Really she thought of it as eaves dropping... which really didn't help her case much because people still thought it rude.
She stared at the blonde for a moment, just a moment, before finally giving a giant grin. "Penelope Reed?" A name that was first for her to hear other than her own. Back when she was found, her first was read to her from a piece of paper and next came introductions from the very girl who found her - Miss Penelope Reed. And that blonde dork that followed her around. Or did she follow him around? Nia was too excited about this reunion to care.
A bounce in her step, Nia closed the distance between the two of them quickly and brought Penny in for a deep hug. "Oh Pen~" The sing song to her tone of voice was to stop Penny from noticing the crack that was about to appear. Hopefully. "It's been ages! But look at you. You're still so young. And drop dead gorgeous..."
"Speaking of..." She eyed the girl up and down. "You need a shower. Hotel? Pit stop? I don't mind. I'll even pay." She blinked, then smiled briefly. ...Wiiiith my good looks~ Again, not that she'd tell Penny she was nearly broke already.
Penelope tensed slightly when the more excited girl started practically jumping all over her, her eyes going wide in startled, but amused surprise at how much energy her old friend still had. She was calling her gorgeous, then holding her at arms length and inspecting her.
Penny's nose scrunched up when Nia said she needed a shower, but before she could answer, the other woman was offering to pay for her to go to a hotel, pit stop somewhere, and let her take one. She sucked in a breath, before lifting her arms to hold Nia's down, and back at her sides.
"It's nice to see you again, too. I just came straight from waking up, so that's why I'm kind of not showered, but I did shower last night..." She thought back to last night and couldn't help the little smirk that came across her face. The coercion that went into that shower was next-level, and she was pretty proud of herself. Not that she would admit that to anyone... Ever. Especially not Elijah, he'd just make fun of her for trying so hard.
"I would love to take a pit stop..." She almost put forward a "but," as if she would blow Nia off. But she would feel too bad. The last time they had spoken, Penelope was letting her know it was too hard to stay in Goldenrod - without even telling her the reason why. A week later, the papers about her mother being a killed-in-action Ranger were all over the place. Penelope could only assume that Nia had got the clue, there.

With a skeptical brow raised, Nia just watched as Penny spoke. Listening is caring, in Nia's mind. Then talking is acknowledging and etc. All this learned by experience rather than being taught. Well, some of it Penny had taught her. She thought. Maybe. Perhaps without knowing it? Either way, Nia's world was now a whole lot brighter having found Penny.
Straight from waking up. The thought made Nia look up at the sky. Nia had been up for hours already, but only because she was an early bird and a night owl all at the same time. A neat way of saying she either had terrible dreams or insomnia, or a case of both. Wonderful.
Either way. She gave a nod to Penny and tilted her head to the side. "Well then, let's get moving. I came from a hotel not far from here." Her hands stretched out so they could start walking, and she gave a delighted smile. "Must have been a good night and a great shower. What's his name?" Honestly, Nia had assumed that Penny would never be with anybody but... "..." A slow blink occurred. "I never thought you would be separated from Jaws, though." An adorable nickname she'd come up with for Elijah. The tone she had suggested she might have known that Penny was still seeing Elijah, simply because of a sinking suspicion.

Penelope let a small smile cross her lips as Nia asked who the guy was. Was this an appropriate conversation to have with soeone you havent seen in 9 years? Penelope thought on this and reflected on her choices over those years, sighing slightly. Had she contacted Elijah sooner, maybe their relationship would have progressed to something more that what they were now... Then again, he had been engaged for a period of that time, and also involved himself in some reckless activies.
Laughing at Nia's name for whom she could only assume was Elijah, Penny rolled her eyes and sighed softly, running her fingers through her hair. "Maybe it is.. The Shark." Penelope shrugged and smiled deviously before wiggling in her own skin like she was too excited to contain it.
"We met up about three weeks ago..." Penelope bit her lip, thinking about it. Elijah had pretty much been her first everything. Apparently it was obvious even ten years ago that they would wind up together. At least to Nia, anyway.

There was a small pause in her step, but she kept walking anyway. The last time they had seen each other Nia had a meowth hanging around her that she just couldn't - and would never, as far as anybody was concerned - shake. But now she was meowthless, but not without a partner. Her eyes dropped her her pokeballs for a fraction of a second before Penny said something that made her want to stop walking. Instead, she just turned and started walking backwards.
"Oh? He's here in Hoenn?" She shrugged her shoulders. "I suppose it's a small world after all..." The idea that the pokemon world was small just made her want to laugh even harder. She decided against it, and then turned back toward her old friend. "So... does this mean..." Her hands covered her mouth and she arched her eyebrows high at her. Oh, she might have stopped walking as well.
"You two finally slept together? Arceus! It took you two long enough?" She pulled her by the arm to tug her to keep walking, as if Penny had been the one to stop. "Well I want all the grubby details and unless you plan on doing so right in the middle of the route we have to find a hotel pronto."
Post by penelope reed on Jun 18, 2015 20:25:46 GMT
Penelope blushed slightly as Nia asked her all about the details. It was weird to have someone ask her about all these things about relationships. It was all foreign territory, especially having someone who had just jumped back into her life asking her about someone who had also crashed into her life like a freight train.
"It was... Hectic. At first." Penelope started, but suddenly Nia was dravging her towards the nearest hotel, and away from her original destination. Somehow, Penelope found herself npt minding the company at all. It was actually quite comfortable having Nia there to alleviate spme pf the stress and tension that she had been feeling over the past few weeks.
"Things are going well, though... I think." Penny could never really tell what was going on inside Elijah's mind, she just had to put her trust in him. Which was something she was having difficulty with, despite the reassurance of both the lack of media attention, and Elijah's promises.

Her body never stopped moving toward the nearest hotel, but she did glance back to look at her friend... her best friend, as far back as she could remember. She was glad to see that it didn't appear as if Penny was involved in either of the teams. Penny didn't need that drama. The only reason Nia had joined Aqua was in hopes to get some leads on her own past, though she was first prompted to get leads on the death of a woman who was like a mother she never had.
"Hectic. Very kinky." She commented, as if saying the weather looked nice. Nia gave a moment or two pause, listening to Penelope. Oh the many memories that came flooding to her mind that she'd tucked away until this day. She allowed herself to look back, because now she couldn't miss what was right in front of her.
"I'm just so glad you're safe." Bit of a change of subject, but she went there. "I was so worried... sort of.... that you would get tied up in a team drama. Though, I'm pretty sure that getting tied up in Elijah's life gets you more trouble and drama than any team you could have joined." The laugh that came from her died quickly, and she heaved a sigh. "You two will work out. I have no doubt."
"You've always been like a fairy tale, you and Elijah. You're more of the prince though and he's the damsel... sort of." She shook her head. Whatever it was that Penelope and Elijah had, it was something Nia was confident she could never get. Nia didn't let it show though. Instead of a frown, or jealousy, a smile appeared. A warm and welcoming smile for her friend.

Penelope laughed slightly at the thought of anything "hectic" being "kinky" as well. Of course, there were things that they did that Penelope was pretty sure would classify as kinky, but the first few times... Well, she had been a virgin, and had no idea what she was doing. She was pretty sure she had it down now, but sometimes she did things that were awkward, or she felt a little awkward about and had to talk about them afterwards.
When Nia said they were like a fairy tale, Penelope started laughing, shaking her head slightly. Maybe when they were kids it was like that. These days it was more about her worrying what he was doing when she was gone.
Running her fingers through her hair, she sighed softly and glanced over to Nia after she was finished letting out the laughter. "It's not like a fairy tale anymore, I don't think. Maybe it is. We hadn't seen each other in 10 years. I sort of threw a drink in his face the very first time I saw him after I left." Penelope bit her lip.
Not her best shining moment.
"We should go to a bar or something sometime. I'll help you pick up some guys." Penelope laughed, making a stab at her own awkward pick-up lines. Maybe she could set her up with the bartender she had made friends with... Oh yeah, he'd be perfect.
"I have just the guy for you!" Penelope grinned, then blinked. "Unless you need a girl. I don't know any girls."
Post by NATALIA HYNES on Jun 24, 2015 12:04:52 GMT
Hm. Well, Nia couldn't help but wondering if the drink being thrown in Elijah's face had been a good thing or not. Honestly, Elijah and Penelope both deserved a little wine on their clothes, but only because they had both acted and reacted in ways that upset the other. Though, from Nia's perspective, they both had their right to be angry.
Penny left in a bit of a rush, Elijah was a complete douche when she did so, and Nia was just left to pat shoulders and be a shoulder to cry on... not that she remembered him crying. Did he cry?
She listened to Penelope continue to speak, laughing and nodding at the idea of going to the bar, and the idea of those two being together again. They were always so cute, and it seemed nice to be in a relationship like that. But Nia hadn't known the feeling. Not like those two had.
"No, not girls. Not ever on purpose anyway. There are times, however, in a drunken haze, where I lose myself and suddenly I'm unable to tell genders apart." She nodded, laughing herself. "It's very strange, and I'd love to learn how to keep myself under control."
"But it sounds like a fantastic idea none the less." Her eyes moved to look over Penny for a moment, she then blinked. "Have you been working out? You're extremely toned..."
Post by penelope reed on Jun 27, 2015 12:08:48 GMT
Penelope knew the feeling of waking up not knowing where she was all too well, so she could relate to Nia slightly. She wondered for a moment if her departure was a mistake, leaving Nia to deal with Elijah all on her own. After she had gone to see Elijah to say goodbye, she had gone straight to Nia and told her that she would be leaving for a while.
Nia took it much better.
Elijah had tried to play it off as a joke, laughing in her face and telling her she was "too much of a pussy," to go out there in the world on her own. Penelope had gotten pretty upset, not only because he refused to say goodbye, but also because he had called her something so vulgar. What 13-year-old boy should ever talk like that?
Penelope frowned quickly at the memories, before glancing over to Nia. "Working out?" Penelope looked over herself and smoothed her hands over her shirts, trying to see if she really did look different, now.
"I train a lot, I'm in the woods 90% of my time, so I need to know how to fight in case... Well, y'know. Team drama and such." She lifted the shoulder of her t-shirt to show Nia the long scar that still had some stitches in the more open areas of the wound. Falling out of a tree had really sucked.
"Now if only I could jump from tree to tree." Penelope laughed.
Post by NATALIA HYNES on Jun 27, 2015 14:44:16 GMT
Nia's eyes glanced over the wound on Penelope's scar. It was a good one. She blinked though, and looked up to Penelope's face. "A tree did that to you?" Her arched brow suggested that she couldn't believe it. Though, learning Parkour hadn't been an easy task. She'd fallen... a lot more than her pride would ever let her admit.
"Jumping from one branch to the other isn't that difficult. It's managing to balance once on the branch." She shrugged her shoulder. "The key is to know where it is enough that you'll be able to eye the next branch and the next, and the next." She shrugged her shoulders. "It's hard to explain.."
She knew she was a terrible teacher, and even worse at explaining things. "I can try and teach you." She tapped a tree beside her. "It's much easier to learn on buildings and light poles though, and then work your way up to branches. Branches are unpredictable."
Post by penelope reed on Jun 28, 2015 22:11:26 GMT
Penelope raised her eyebrows as Nia described how to jump from tree to tree, before smiling slightly at the idea that was now growing in her mind.
Then Nia was suggesting she teach her for a bit, and Penelope grinned and started nodding more furiously than she probably intended originally. Penelope's hands flew up as she grabbed Nia by the shoulders and pulled her into a hug.
"That would be awesome!" Penelope was starting to think that this encounter was fate. She let go of Nia and smoothed out her clothing once more, before laughing slightly.
"I could always show you a few moves, in exchange for some parkour tips!" Penelope did a tiny karate chop in the air and winked at Nia.
Post by NATALIA HYNES on Jun 29, 2015 13:29:12 GMT
At the hug Nia smiled, breathing in Penny's scent perhaps out of habit of smelling people to become familiar with them (wth nia...) before nodding and smiling toward her old friend. Well, her friend which she knew in her past. Penelope was hardly old, if only because that meant Nia would have to admit she was old and that wouldn't happen until Nia was long gone and dead.
"I wouldn't mind learning a few moves." She gave a small nod looking toward the hotel. They were closing in on it already, and Nia was thankful. She turned her body toward the hotel and nodded. "I would prefer we learn on buildings first... but there aren't many here." She shrugged her shoulders. "Perhaps after we catch up, we'll head our ways on the route, and then meet up in the next town? We can work out the training from there." She gave a firm nod, already deciding that the plan of action was what she'd just described. She blinked though, realizing she'd taken charge all of the sudden, and then looked toward Penelope.
