[ SETH ] Breezing through Oldale was a hard thing to do. A new friend of Seth's had urged him to continue on to other, better places, but Seth couldn't leave an area unexplored. He was positively fascinated by Hoenn and the bountiful Pokemon; the fact that there was another route to explore off this little town simply made it a requirement for Seth to return.
It was midafternoon (Seth would have gotten here sooner if he hadn't been getting distracted by Pokemon) when the boy arrived back in the quiet little place. He was wandering around at present, not seeming in any sort of rush. He might even look lost to others. Really, Seth just wanted to take it all in and remember the first steps on what would be a long journey. He would be heading to Route 103 before the day was over, intending to catch some more Pokemon. Feeling around in his pocket, Seth was just itching to show someone the new wild Pokemon he had just recently caught. Maybe he could even make some friends here in Oldale before heading. Seth had already begun to make a circle of friends, and it could only grow from here.

They slowly walked until they reached Oldale, Benji walking alongside his newly hatched Gible. The newborn regarded everything he saw with great interest. The Pokemon would blink his beady little eyes at anything that crossed his eyes, staring intently at them before letting out a gurgled cry and waving his stubby little arms.
"Galahad," Benji finally spoke, and the Gible looked at him in confusion. "That's your name," he explained, and the Gible watched him for a while longer before letting out another cry. Well, Benji supposed he could take that as a positive answer. Pokemon speech was beyond his expertise, and he supposed watching their reactions and body language was a stronger indication of their moods and feelings.
"Stay close," he reminded the excitable little child, who was constantly looking for something new to entertain his mind. His eyes caught sight of Seth's light hair, and he was immediately drawn to it. Hands outstretched, the dragon let out a sharp cry as he waddled over to Seth recklessly. "H-Hey!" he grumbled, accepting his fate, trying to wrangle obedience into the Gible's one track mind.

[ SETH ] Having been going in the other direction (curious about Route 103) Seth hadn't noticed the Gible and its trainer. Believe me, if Seth had seen the Gible, he would have made a beeline for it. When the Pokemon ran into him, Seth let out a sound of surprise and turned to look at it. Upon seeing it, his eyes widened in interest and a grin slowly spread over his face. A new Pokemon! Seth knelt down next to it and ran his hand over its head soothingly, "Hey there!" Pulling out his pokedex, Seth scanned the Pokemon and listened to the description. A dragon, huh?
By the time the machine was done, Seth would notice the person. It had to be the Gible's trainer; wild Pokemon were generally not found outside of routes. He looked up to meet the owner's eyes, "Is this your G-Gible?" Seth was positively entranced by any and all Pokemon. He found them so cute, especially the first evolutions. He wanted to play with the Gible so badly and study it. Seth wasn't as good with people, though, his dreaded lisp popping up once the excitement faded a little. The trainer probably just wanted to get his Pokemon somewhere else, likely exploring the routes. Seth was probably just wasting the guy's time.

Galahad, being young, found everything that crossed his eyes fascinating. He was bouncing on the spot as he marvelled at Seth's ashen white hair. Even things like these interested him. He looked in confusion at the hand approaching him, but upon realising that the pats on his head were indeed a lovely feeling, did not reject Seth's touch. He closed his eyes and let out a series of contented hums, a low thrumming sound forming at the back of his throat. Benji watched in mild interest at the Gible's behaviour.
He mentally recorded it for observation purposes. Benji slowly approached his Pokemon and the other trainer, looking on with a short nod. "Y-Yeah, Galahad is with me." He was kind of glad he didn't have Arthur with him right now. The bird would have been another ruckus and Benji didn't have enough hands to handle both of them.
Extending a hand for a courteous handshake, Benji put on the best smile he could muster upon his tired face. "Benji," he greeted, "I take it you're a fellow trainer?"

[ SETH ] Why did he have to have such a terrible time meeting people? Seth loved being around friends, but dreaded encountering strangers. He lifted one hand up to give the other's a loose shake, "Y-Yeah, I, uh, I am." Seth supposed he had given worse handshakes in the past. Once the quick greeting was over, Seth's hand happily fell back to the Gible's head. Pokemon were just more soothing for him. "Seth." There was a quick half-smile throw up at Benji, Seth doing his best to be polite.
Seth happily became distracted with the Pokemon, his gaze favoring to fall on it rather than its owner. He wondered what other Pokemon the guy had. If they were different from what Seth had already caught himself. Where he had caught them. What they were like. In truth, Seth barely thought about the trainer himself. If he let himself, he thought Benji was pretty cute. Focusing on the Pokemon, however, calmed Seth's anxiety. He didn't even voice any of his queries, staying rather silent. If any conversation were going to happen, Benji would need to carry it, probably almost completely. Seth hated that he was like that, but he was also aware that in time he would open up and be more social. The duality annoyed Seth to no end, but he didn't have a way to fix it.

It was going to be difficult to interact with Seth. Benji was as shy as a button as well, and while similar personalities might work well, it also made the first few steps of socialising painful and drawn out. His eyes fell to the ground as his questions were simply punctuated with one word answers. Right, what else had he been expecting? Conversation was a two way street, but this was starting to be more one sided than anything.
Benji cleared his throat and watched Galahad. The Gible was infinitely more interested in the new human than he was in Benji, waving his stubby paws to try and get a hold of Seth's hand. He tried to wrangle a finger into his grasp, before proceeding to try and gnaw on said fingers by inserting them into his mouth. "Galahad, no!" Benji snapped, the Gible looking on in confusion. "No, bad, don't do that."
Dejected, the Gible dropped the fingers and looked down at the ground apologetically. "Sorry. He's newly born, so he's sort of seeing everything for the first time."

[ SETH ] The atmosphere became a little uncomfortable while both boys avoided conversation. Seth wasn't completely unaware of it and glanced up at the other with a sort of half-wince. It showed his own discomfort in an apologetic way, but the expression was gone a second later. Seth knew how he was when he first met someone and gave himself enough grief for it. He felt empathetic when he picked up on some small things the Gible's owner was doing.
With no more than that one look for conversation, Seth's attention returned to that Gible. Pokemon were just easier to interact with, you know? His fingers put up no protest as they were taken and moved, Seth watching with rapt interest. Watching Pokemon behavior was an important part of studying them. In truth, it was likely Seth's favorite part; he could watch Pokemon for hours on end if he were able. It seemed the young Gible's actions were not the most benign, and those teeth were sharp. Seth gave a look of nothing more than surprise at the chastising, his mouth making a little 'o' as if to say "oops, you're not supposed to do that". Right after, however, Seth grinned and moved his freed hand to pat the Pokemon's head. As a newly hatched thing, he guessed it didn't know better yet, but that only made it cuter.
Next, Seth latched onto the fact that this was a Pokemon fresh from an egg. Seth knew that's how Pokemon were born, having met an equally young one just recently, but he had yet to experience this himself. "From an e-egg?" Seth had looked up at Benji with fascination at the subject, but quickly remembered his awkwardness. Something really needed to be done about that stutter one of these days.
AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT I MAY WATCH YOU GO THERE'LL BE NO VALUE IN THE STRENGTH OF WALLS THAT I HAVE GROWN THERE'LL BE NO COMFORT IN THE SHADE OF THE SHADOWS THROWN BUT
"Mm, yeah. Hatched a little while back on the route prior," Benji noted. "He's got the curiosity of a child, but he's also got a bit more destructive force than I'd like." Honestly, handling birds were easier. The avians were largely docile and they could fit on his shoulder. Pokemon like Gible could put up a nasty fight, and their massive teeth were bound to hurt if they ever clamped down on anything.
He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked at the road winding along ahead. There was still plenty of ways to go till he hit the next town. He had better start making a move. "I'm going on ahead. Are you going too?"
[ SETH ] "He's just a c-cute little baby." Seth winced more fully this time, finding his words idiotic. And in front of a cute guy, ugh. Could Seth make more of a fool of himself? Doubtful. He had already ruined any hope of a conversation by fawning over the Gible unceasingly. Benji probably found him rude and unmannerly.
Seth stood and tousled his own already messy hair, looking awkward and slightly stressed. "I was, uh, a-actually gonna s-s-stick around here for a bit. Legendaries dammit! Looking at Benji only made Seth's stutter worse which in turn only stressed him out more. The discomfort was likely in part due to Seth's attraction to Benji. Strangers were bad, but cute strangers? What was there to be done? Seth knew once he discovered he liked someone it was only a matter of time before he developed a crush. It was probably best they part ways now, cut off this awkward interaction before it gets any worse.
AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT I MAY WATCH YOU GO THERE'LL BE NO VALUE IN THE STRENGTH OF WALLS THAT I HAVE GROWN THERE'LL BE NO COMFORT IN THE SHADE OF THE SHADOWS THROWN BUT
Seth's nervousness was kind of unnerving for Benji. He stood there, unsure what to say to the nervous lad. Benji seemed content with scratching the back of his head and offering little words to help. Galahad was a child, but Benji didn't think of it good to excuse a child's actions simply because they were a child. He didn't want the bad habit of spoiling Galahad to manifest into something greater, especially when the Gible was known to grow into a massive landshark capable of destruction.
Seth was planning to stick around, and Benji wasn't. There was little reason for him to stay around then. There was a nagging feeling at the back of his mind, but Benji dismissed it. "Alright. I'll see you around in the future, I guess." He gave Seth a short wave, bidding him farewell until they met again.
