If you wanna leave I'm ready
We've come too far to give up who we are
So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars
She's up all night 'til the sun I'm up all night to get some She's up all night for good fun I'm up all night to get lucky We're up all night 'til the sun We're up all night to get some We're up all night for good fun
He doesn't question the gold coin, though he does wonder where she had gotten it.
"But I bet everyone calls you Penny." He says with a pout, looking at her with fake grief. He's called her Penny for most of their lives, it was her name after all. It's all teasing, of course. He doesn't expect her to fall for little words of endearment, just playing along to the mood as it was. But he does feel a bit giddy, realizing that she really meant to come along with him sent a zing of excitement. He dares not admit that he's happy to be with her, a respite from strangers and wild pokemon.
He points off into the distance, already walking towards the direction in a slow walk. "It's just in Oldale, literally just twenty minutes away." Comes the answer, as he looks at her with a question on his lips. He has many questions, all of them rolling in his mind one after the other. But perhaps letting them all out would scare her off, or worse cause her to close up on him. "Sooo, what are you doing in Hoenn? I wouldn't be here if I was forced to be. But you... You mentioned wanting to go here." He vaguely tries to recall when she had said her goodbye, with him still too bitter over previous conversations to give much care about it. It should be nothing. He's insulted people far worse than this, but now he feels the guilt of his actions. "Was that all that really was? You wanted a break from the Johto?"
Vaguely, he recalls of the egg he has waiting at home, all nestled in blankets and pillows, wondering if it was doing alright.
Penelope smiled as politely as she could when he started asking questions about why she had come to Hoenn. For a while, she had spent time all over the map. Sinnoh, Kanto, but Hoenn had really taken a slight grasp on her. She enjoyed the atmosphere, the fresh air, and the people here. Plus, there was the added bonus of the thrilling sensations of working for someone who don't even know the name of. She wasn't even getting paid for any of it, just freelancing where she pleased. It was all nice, but she knew that the last thought would probably get her into trouble with Elijah, so she just shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
"I went to Sinnoh for a few years. And Kanto. I had a permanent address in Kanto, where the people who lived there would get into contact with me and send me my mail every few weeks." Penelope explained, moving her hands as if that would help get the words to flow. It was nice being able to talk with Elijah again. Although when she had been reading tabloids and trying to ignore what was going on in his life... She felt like she should have reached out more.
The walk was quick, and she kept of with Elijah, who was moving fast enough for her to have to hop-jog in order to keep up in some places. "Is it a nice place? I'm happy you've found a good place to stay, at least." Penelope smiled and gave him a thumbs up, before running her fingers through her hair. "I don't have a place yet. Thinking about setting up camp around Mauville City, or somewhere around there." Penelope hadn't really given her current living situation much thought. The past few nights had been spent under the stars, since it was so beautiful out lately. But there was bound to be some rain in the forecast soon.

It almost felt like she was chiding him for never giving her a call, something he's already starting to feel guilty about. He can't help but feel a tad jealous at the people who have managed to keep in contact with her, no doubt there were better relations found between those people Elijah didn't know. Their facelessness was worse, considering he didn't even know where to aim his animosity. He tries to not let it bother him. "Sounds great, sounds adventurous." He comments instead, smiling at her. At least that was no lie, it did sound very exciting to be able to move from region to region at whim, just taking in the sights for what they were. He's a city boy, never quite had the taste for dirt.
He waves his hand in a dismissive gesture, rolling his eyes. "It's as nice as can be. For a shack. And that's putting it kindly." He's used to better living conditions, but then again he's spoiled in that aspect and can't help the sarcasm that effortlessly flows into his voice. He senses that she would get angry with his words hough, and decides to humor her. "It's a quaint place. It's two floors, most of the ground floor is a kitchen and living room, the kind you'd think a small family would live in. It's... Cozy." He decides on the word. It's true enough, the place is small, such little space to really move around but it has all the necessities and homey decorations. He can tell that the curtain that hung in the house were hand-sewn by its previous owner, furniture had seen some years, and the tablecloth had been picked with care. The second floor had two bedrooms. One was clearly a master bedroom, while the other must've been a room for kids, judging by the wallpaper.
Once, he found himself staring at the particular pillar of wood, where names and ages had been etched into them, along with lines to show their growing height, before shaking his head and moving along. He thinks it's a little sad, but that's none of his concern, he's just a tenant after all.
"Hmm." Of all the things that people have asked him, happy has never come up. "Happy... Is a relative term." says Elijah slowly, contemplating on an answer. He looks her over, wonders why she would ask such a thing. Maybe she feels pity, maybe she wants to tease him, for all he knew she might be judging him. His eyes shifts suspiciously before answering. "How about... I enjoy a lot of things. I've had a lot of experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything."
