some might call him creepy and possessive for keeping tabs on her. he doesn't care. he doesn't like guys getting close to her. he doesn't trust them. he doesn't want her to get hurt. ironic, really. but he can't see the irony. and even if it was pointed out to him he would choose to ignore it.
so he stood outside the bar with his head lowered. he hid underneath his hoodie as he stared at his phone. he followed her here to the bar. he waited a couple of minutes outside to let her settle down. he slid his phone back into his pocket and walked towards the bar.
he pushed the door open with his shoulder. his eyes immediately scanned the place for her. and there she was. sitting by the counter... flirting with a guy. it was obvious. he walked over to the two and squeezed in between them, facing the guy.

it feels good to get out for once. when she arrived in petalburg she thought that it would be fun. and it is. there's a gym here. that means more tourists and attractions. when night hit the town cass immediately hit the nicest bar in town.
she sits by the counter, ordering a drink. she feels good tonight. a guy even approaches her, flirting. she flirts back. it's nice and easy. she laughs. it was fun. there isn't anything that can ruin her mood. at least, that's what she thought.
rory slides into the space between them, ordering the guy to leave. her mood's immediately spoiled. she stands, trying to intimidate him even though she's heads shorter. "what the fuck, you need to leave." she snaps. cass steps around rory, smiling apologetically at the guy.
he turned back when he heard her stand up. she was trying to intimidate him. it didn't work. the next thing he knew cass had moved around him and started talking to the guy. he turned back to look at the guy. the guy smirked. and just as easy as that his mood went sour. he smiled sarcastically, placing one hand on cass' shoulder.
"move away, cass," he whispered. his tone was serious. this wasn't his first brawl. and it doesn't look like the guy was backing down either. so much for a peaceful night. his free hand clenched into a ball as he prepared himself.
he looked around. the guy was alone. "last chance," he addressed the guy. he shook his head like rory wasn't important. then it happened. cass was short. it made it easier to hit the guy. rory threw the first punch which knocked the guy back against the counter. the bartender looked over.
but rory didn't care.
he moved around cass and threw the second punch, grabbing him by the collar. the guy retaliated and grabbed a bottle of beer. he tried to smash it against rory's head, but it was easily parried away. still gripping the collar rory threw another punch and dragged the guy out towards the exit.
he shoved the guy out of the door. the guy stumbled along the ground. rory stood there waiting. he was going to beat this guy up good. unless someone were to stop him.

cass is in a bad mood now. her day had gone so great, now rory had to come in and ruin it. she just hopes that rory gets the message that he's not welcome. but knowing him, he wouldn't.
and she was right. he puts a hand on her shoulder. she could tell that something is about to start. "no, fucking leave" she hisses before turning around. she screams and ducks as his fist whizzes over her head.
rory's having a fight. fantastic. the whole bar was staring at them now. she runs to follow them out the door. the poor guy looks beat up. he doesn't deserve any of this. cass puts herself between the guy and rory.
she yells, "what the hell is wrong with you?" cass dares him to try anything. she won't let anyone else be hurt by rory's hand. she turns back to the guy, who's form laid on the ground. she kneels next to him, inspecting his wounds. he looks like hell.
ah, the guilt trip. does he feel guilty for beating up the guy? no. does he feel guilty for ruining her night? yes. but it's a feeling that will pass. he could deal with the guilt. but he can't deal with guys hitting on her. and her flirting back. it drove him insane. jealousy plagued rory.
he was about to move in on him before she stepped in. she moved between them, her words stopped him from doing anything. then she kneeled beside him, taking a look at his wounds. rory could only smirk. but he made sure to turn his face away to hide it. the guy deserved it.
his knuckles were bruised. he rubbed them gently before sliding them back into the pockets of his hoodie. the hood no longer covered his head. he sighed and walked over to them. the guy looked helpless. and rory loved it. his face showed it.
"i told you to leave," he said to him from afar. he tried to approach them. but he feared any attempts he makes would just result with trouble. "who's this, cass?"

only when she kneels down did cass realize that she was shaking again. her heart is racing. she could feel adrenaline, but she isn't even in the fight. she pats the guy on the shoulder to try to curb his angry, muttering apologies under her breath.
cass flinches when she hears rory's booming voice. she's reminded of the last time it was this loud. when he shoved her. rory's scary when he's violent. she looks up at him. it's still the fucking same smirk he wears all the time.
"yeah and i told you to leave." she says, "it's just some random fucking guy." she shakes her head in disbelief. she doesn't even know how rory followed her here. she doesn't notice the sound of footsteps behind her.
"what the hell did he ever do to you? you don't own me."
he was rarely angry. he would only get angry when it came to girls. his girls. but when he does get angry he gets violent. the scary type of violent. it wasn't hard to follow her. her movements were very linear. very static. she doesn't try to hide her movements or change it. so all he had to do was put on a hoodie and follow her from a distance. not that difficult.
"i don't own you, but i care for you," he replied. his voice was calmer now. he breathed. his ears caught the doors of the bar opening. out came two guys. most likely his friends by the look of things. they were walking straight towards them. and they don't look too happy.
rory took his hands out of his pockets and held them up in front of his chest. his palms faced them, showing that he doesn't want a fight.
"woah, calm down there," he said. but a split second after rory threw a punch at the one guy. which only prompted the other to attack rory as well. he took a punch and threw another punch. it was enough to disorientate them. rory turned away and ran towards cass. he grabbed her by her arm and dragged her along with him.

"yeah well, you have a funny way of showing it." she says. the nerve of him. she let him come into her life again, but he was only making it worse. it feels like she's in a relationship with him again. she doesn't feel free.
she hears the sound of the door opening. two guys came out. they looked angry, too. moments later they were already throwing punches. rory bolts towards her and grabs her arm, pulling her into a run besides him.
cass doesn't know why, but she goes with him. she wrenches her arm free from his grip and runs ahead. the guys don't attempt to follow them. they finally stop near his other apartment. he usually has one in each town. rich bastard.
she suddenly halts. it's too much action for one night. cass turns around and glares at him. she clenches her hands into fists, shaking with anger.
the two guys didn't make an effort to follow them. but he kept running for good measure. they stopped near his apartment. he panted. he loved the adreneline rush. to think it all started with him punching the guy. amazing. and he'd do it again in a heartbeat. he stopped and smirked at cass when she barked at him.
"you're welcome," he replied sarcastically. in his head he just saved her from the possible danger from the three guys, who in reality were probably harmless. the one guy could throw a punch though, rory will admit that. it cut his jaw a bit. nothing a few stiches won't fix.
he raised his hand to wipe off some blood off his jaw. ouch. it stung. but he was used to it. he got into brawls often. most of them were because he was drunk.
"that guy was a douche," he continued, "he would have hurt you."
his apartment wasn't too far away. he started walking towards it, giving cass a glance back and a gesture forward.

your welcome? cass didn't even thank him. what would she even thank him for? ruining her night? making her feel even more isolated then she already was? she could only curl her lip in response.
"the only douche that hurt me was you" she snaps. he thinks he's a hero, but he's something else. he isn't even close. he doesn't deserve that cut on his jaw. he deserves more than that.
he stats walking towards the apartment, but she has other plans. she'd do anything else, just nothing with him. cass sits down on the ground, pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. she sulks on the sidewalk. if rory is going to ruin her life, then she's just going to sit there until he leaves. she buries her face into her arms.
things weren't going according to plan. she was upset that he showed up and ruined her night. he could understand why, but he's much better company than some random guy. right? maybe. he thinks so.
cass sat down by the sidewalk and wrapped her arms around her legs. alright. seemed like she wasn't going to follow him. he needed to get the cut treated. he shook his head. "sulking. really?" he asked.
fine. he'll play this game. he walked over to where she was sitting and sat next to her. he stretched his legs outwards and used his arm to support him as he leaned back. his jaw was burning. but whatever. he'll stand the pain for her.
"i'm sorry for ruining your night," he whispered. he looked at her and smiled. a genuine smile. "you look cute when you sulk," he teased.
"pizza and a beer?" he suggested. anything to make up her night he guessed. to make her feel happy.

"yes." she says. she doesn't care if that makes her sound petulant. she doesn't care about anything right now. not about her situation, or where she'll be staying tonight, and certainly not about rory. she hears him sit besides her, and she reluctantly turns her head to stare at him.
of course he would sweet talking her into forgiving him. she knows him. it's always what he does, no matter what she's done. what he's done. his ego is so huge that he expects to be forgiven everytime, and suffice to say, cass usually does.
"shut up." she growls. "you're not sorry for punching that guy." she says. cass is still staying on this sidewalk, no matter what he says. she's in a foul mood at the moment. pizza and beer wouldn't help.
"what the fuck." she repeats again, because she can't believe that this is happening and rory's still trying to ask for forgiveness after all he did.
it usually wasn't that difficult to get forgiveness. he's had to ask for it a few times before. and all of the times he's tried he hasn't failed yet. all it took was patience and a lot of sweet talking. he was good at sweet talking.
"i'm not sorry for hitting him. but i am for ruining your night," he replied. she was annoyed. pissed off. he knew. the guy would have ended up hurting her anyways. he had friends with him as well. rory couldn't let that happen. he wouldn't.
he rubbed his hands together. his knuckles were bruised as well. wonderful. he showed cass the bruises. maybe it would make her feel better. "i don't mind getting hurt," he said, "as long as it's to protect you."
okay. so maybe beers and pizza wasn't for tonight. but maybe donuts would work. he wiped blood off his jaw again. he hoped it wasn't going to get infected.

one thing that rory's really good at is sweet talking. cass knows. the countless times that he did something wrong he sweet talked his way out of. cass can't help but forgive him every time -- well, except for that last time. that's because she didn't give him the chance. but given the time, cass would always end up caving. and he knows it.
she's quiet as he shows her the bruised knuckles. whose fault was that? he wipes the blood from his jaws. the wound looks kinda bad. he keeps wiping the blood off and getting his hands dirty. she an only shake her head in exasperation.
"those better be some damn good donuts." she mumbles. he's not exactly forgiven, but cass is reluctant to stay on the sidewalk for any longer. it's a sign that things were okay between them for now. she reaches out with her hands, not bothering to stand up by herself.
finally. he got through. she's forgiven him. or at least she doesn't hate his guts anymore. he just knows how to talk to her. what to say. her night was ruined. but he'll try his best to fix it. to make it even better. she deserves at least that much from him.
he got up and wiped his jaw one last time. it was still bleeding. but he hoped it would stop. it wasn't that bad. he gave her a reassuring smile to tell her not to worry about it. he grabbed her hand with his non-bloody one and pulled her up.
"cute outfit tonight," he complimented. he pulled on the hood of his hoodie and pulled it forward and over his head. he doesn't want to be seen with the magma leader in public. not yet anyways. "donut's around the corner."
he reached and grabbed her hand, holding it in his. hopefully she wouldn't mind. he smiled and started walking.
