Of course they would look for her. He really had to ask her what she managed to do to piss off the Magma's but the timing just wasn't right. At least those grunts would move on for the night, leave them be unless something led them back here. They were safe for the time being, that was reassuring enough. But now he has to handle a stubborn Penelope, who has mysteriously disappeared from the hallway.
He finds her wrapped up in sheets, a tug on his heartstrings at the sight, hidden from view but he can make out the shape of her body regardless. He smiles a little, finding comfort in the fact that she wouldn't see it. It's too tempting, to just give her what she wants without promising anything. She said she liked him, but to what extent? It's been a week since her last visit, and from her words earlier she'd been stressing out on the fact that she had slept with him. The reason for her stress was still unclear, yet here she was now, laid out on his bed. Wrapped up like a present.
Elijah lets himself sit by her side, the bed dipping from his weight, a hand falling to where her thigh would be. "If you really want to stay here, I won't stop you." He starts, surprised by the tenderness in his own voice. Once again, enveloped in the silence and privacy of his house, it felt like they were the only two people in the world, and no one else mattered.
"But you have to understand that if you stay, I'm going to have to ask you some question. Not tonight." He adds gently. "You're tired, injured and you need your rest."
Clearly he had very little understand on what Penelope was up to these days, and really she didn't have much clue about the things he's been getting wrapped up as well. Yet the feeling to try and protect was there, seeing her bleeding out had been jarring, and he may have reacted rather roughly when he first found her but he had been so agitated that he hadn't managed to speak out. His first instinct was to wrap her up and keep her safe.
Penelope listened to the tenderness of his voice, and the way he placed his hand on her knee. It was warm, and welcoming. Not at all like the Elijah who had just tried to shut her out completely. She pulled the covers down ever-so-slightly when he said he would ask her questions later, and nodded, before wiggling under his touch so that she was facing him, but his hand was still on her thigh.
"I understand." She answered simply, staring up at him. It only made sense that he should want to know what exactly was going on here, especially since she had come in bloodied but relatively unscathed emotionally by the ordeal. It wasn't the first time that she had run into either of the Teams, but she knew it wouldn't be her last, either. She was already thinking up excuses in her head.
For the past 11 years, she had been living in a relatively wild state, living off instinct and never really venturing into towns up until the past five years. It was enough to make a personal feral. It was also enough for her to go on for any excuses she needed to make up. Magma was around a lot, as were the Aqua members. It was common sense that if she were living in the woods, she would actively bump into them from time to time.
"Thanks for letting me stay with you." Penelope mumbled the words, barely audible to even herself. She felt like a burden, in a way. What would he have done tonight, instead? She shivered at the thought of how many people had been in this bed after her.
Sighing, she tucked the blankets around her shoulders and glanced up to him once more, giving him a weak smile. "This means a lot." Penelope slid her hand along the underside of the sheet, catching his own up and lacing her fingers through his, the thin sheet in between them. She squeezed slightly, and then loosened, but kept her hand in his, feeling the fabric between her fingers and his. Flashbacks to seven nights prior mingled in her mind, but she tried to push them away to savour the tender moment.

"There you are." He smiles as she peeks out, a messy mush of blonde and blue eyes, quite a sight to behold. He can feel her slim fingers through the sheets, taking hold of his with more intent than words could tell at this moment. He nods, a feeling of foreboding. Elijah would know of her situation soon enough, she said so herself and he would hold her to her word in the morning.
Withdrawing his hand, he grabs at the sheets, crawling in beside her. He's careful not to pull too close, afraid that he might bump into her shoulder, no doubt it would be aching throughout the night and tomorrow they would have to change the bandages and clean up again. She smells of sweat, dirt and blood. An odd mix that he's not at all unfamiliar with.
A horrible thought occurs.
"You're not going to disappear when I wake up, are you?" His arm is lazily draped over her body, but the tenseness in his voice says otherwise. He's trying to keep himself controlled, treat it with as much nonchalance as he can. It's her choice to stay, as it is her choice to leave. And yet he can't hide the disappointment. He lays there, barely touching her, awaiting her verdict.
He let go of her head, and Penelope started aching a bit, wanting him to hold it again. But suddenly he was under the sheets and his arm was draped over her, and although he was far away, Penelope was happy with the contact. She moved closer and smiled at him, kissing his nose first, then wrapping herself up in his arms. It was a nice feeling to be so completely enveloped.
His words, however, caught her a bit off-guard, and she leaned back ever-so-slightly to stare at him. So he didn't actually want her to leave. That was a relief. She smiled and leaned forward again, kissing him softly on the lips. "No. I'll still be here." Penelope whispered, before tucking her head under his chin, closing her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere." She mumbled into his chest, feeling his heart beating against her cheek.
It took a few moments, but the weariness of being injured and running away finally took it's toll as she slipped into a deep and safe sleep, completely oblivious to the wounds on her shoulder and leg for the time being. She was too tired and too comfortable to even move, so she remained in the same spot and position as she slept. If Elijah needed to go anywhere, he'd have to move her manually, because she was down for the count.

It's almost automatic, his arms draping over her body as she moves closer. Somehow this feels better than with others, maybe a trick of the mind. She'd rejected him, which made him want her attention above anyone else's. It's not enough to wipe the smile on his face though, not with the warmth of her pressed so closed to him.
"Good."
He notices too late that she's drifted off to sleep, and he wiggles just the slightest to take a look at her. She seems so at peace, relaxed in his arms, dressed too large clothing, looking absolutely adorable. It warms him, in a strangely different way. He's happy to see her like this, the mirth bubbling in his chest as he controls his own chuckles. He's almost forgotten what it meant to be happy for no reason.
Her question from last week haunts him.
Are you happy, Elijah?
As if she'd known, somehow, that he'd been trying so hard to find some sort of happiness in this foreign region. He lets that thought be the last as he drifts off, arm twitching slightly to pull her in, snuggling the top of her head as he succumbs to sleep.
-----
He's awake before he knows his. Another dreamless sleep. He blinks away the drowsiness, brain just starting up. Vaguely aware of something resting on top of him, he lets out a stifled yawn, stretching out his arms. His eyes nearly bulge out when he spots Penny, barely moved from her spot on top of him, still there, breathing deeply in sleep.
So she stayed.
Huh. He feels... Oddly at peace with that.
A smile graces his lips, as he lays in bed for a while, playing her hair. Another five minutes wouldn't matter, the sun was barely up anyway. He could enjoy this moment for a while longer.
Eventually he does get up, carefully sliding out of bed, leaving a pillow in his place for her to snuggle.
-----
Some paperwork done, he's deemed it bright enough for some breakfast. Leaving the array of documents on the table, he moves to the kitchen, preparing enough for two. Picking out the some food from the fridge, he goes on to make eggs and bacon, some toast already popped into the the toaster. He hums some catchy tune he's heard a few days ago, flipping the bacon and letting the oil cook it through.
After a though, he releases Praline, the large Togekiss barely fitting in the confines of the kitchen, but he looks happy nonetheless to be out. "Would you go to the bedroom and wake our guest, breakfast is nearly ready, we can all eat together." He tells the Pokemon.
Praline nods and drifts up the stairs, pushing past the door and landing by the bed, tapping a wing at Penny with a shrill Togeee! to boot. He was getting hungry too.
Back in the kitchen, Elijah was setting the plates, separating a batch of bacon and eggs into two plates while placing some pokefood into three bowls also set on the table. A bowl is set on the floor also filled with pokefood. He releases the rest of is pokemon. Out pops a Larvitar and Dustox, who are quick to go for a seat on the table. The Honedge merely drifts by the couch, blinking sordidly at the sunlight that peeks through the curtains.a A Ponyta is already positioned by the bowl on the floor, looking at Elijah expectantly.
Penelope opened her eyes slowly, greeting the day with about as much enthusiasm that she could offer. She curled into the pillow, not yet realizing that it wasn't Elijah, and snuggled her face into the surface of it, sniffing in hard. Once she had sniffed, she jumped slightly, sparking awake as she realized that the pillow smelled nothing like the warm chest of the person she had fallen asleep on. Blinking, she glanced around at the empty room and frowned slightly. Where had he gone?
It was only then that she smelled the enticing scent of bacon and other breakfast foods wafting up the stairs. Her stomach rumbled loudly, and she moved her hand to place it on top, before blinking a bit. Searing pain shot through her arm, and she groaned, nearly vomiting from the extremity of it. Closing her eyes, she breathed in slowly, trying to calm her nerves down, before opening her eyes to see a Togekiss staring right back at her.
"Oh. Good morning." Penelope smiled at the togekiss and placed her hand on his head, stroking gently. She didn't know Elijah had such a pokemon... She wondered what else he had.
Slowly, she moved her body from the confines of the sheets and slipped out of bed, tugging the too-big shirt down so it covered her bottom and front. Not really caring about her legs sticking out, she limped towards the door and smiled as the togekiss leaned under her for support. "Thank you." She whispered, patting the togekiss once more before letting the pokemon help her hobble down the stairs, and into the kitchen.
Once she was there, she blinked at the way Elijah sat patiently, waiting for her to arrive downstairs and eat with him. Everything was already made, and Penelope was a little grateful that he had done this; touched, even. She breathed out finally after what had seemed like forever, and took note of all the other pokemon around the house.
"Good morning." Penelope smiled, clearly elated by Elijah's efforts. "This looks... wonderful." She limped over to the chair and sat down, sighing happily.

Praline hovers beside Penny, stays there in case she might need his support again. It's not everyday that Elijah has a guest, in fact this is the first that Praline's met and has been asked to help out, so he's sure who this woman is.
He glides ahead once Penny is within the kitchen, taking her spot with his bowl, ready to chow down like the rest of the pokemon. As always the Larvitar is the most impatient, staring at her food like its going to run away. The Dustox and Ponyta stare at Penelope, and its the Ponyta that suddenly flares as she passes, obviously not sure what to make of her.
Elijah eyes her for a moment, mostly worried that he might accidentally catch something on fire with his flames.
"She's a guest, Rush. No need to be so worried." He says, in effort to calm the fire pokemon, before turning to Penelope. She still has bed hair, her blonde locks a mess and he chuckles affectionately as he looks at her.
"Good morning. Slept well?" He asks with a grin. She must have, considering she still looked very dazed and sleepy. He opens his mouth to say something else but the Larvitar chatter noisily, patience running thin. With a sigh he rolls his eyes at the Larvitar.
"Alright fine, Mint. Everyone can eat."
And just like that they're chowing down on the food as quickly as they can.
Elijah has to laugh. It's always so amusing to see them scarf up all the food without inhibition. He turns to Penny again, noticeably brighter. "Introductions are in order I think. You've met Praline, of course. Hopefully he wasn't too rough about waking you up. The hungry one is Mint." He gestures at the Larvitar, before pointing to the Dustox and Ponyta. "That's Des and Rush. Sorry about Rush, he has trust issues. Tried to bite me the first time I tried to pet him. After that he set a shirt on fire." Rush snorts, proud of his achievements.
"The moody Honedge is Silva. He can't eat, sadly, so he just sits on the couch and occassionally stares at us. And well. That's us." He ends lamely.
Penelope smiled slightly as Elijah made all the introductions, rubbing her eyes sleepily as her body adjusted to the light, and being awake. She yawned once more and stretched out, but only used her non-injured arm for everything. It was weird using her left hand as opposed to her right. She reached for a fork to try to pick up some of her food, but wound up opting for a spoon, so at least she could just scoop rather than try and aim the fork to stab things. She greeted the pokemon happily as Elijah listed off their names, and waved to everyone, including Rush, who seemed very indignant.
"I slept really well." She took up a spoonful of eggs and put it into her mouth, chewing slowly. The meal was the most savory thing she had eaten in months, other than a basket of nachos that Jim had given her at the bar the other night. Penelope sighed contently and glanced up to Elijah shyly, blinking.
"Did you sleep well? You must have waken up awful early to make all this." She glanced down to the food and poked at it, before taking another mouthful of it. When she found that she couldn't really pick up bacon with a spoon, she picked it up with her fingers and bit into it, letting out a small whimper of satisfaction. It was delicious, and Penelope couldn't help but feel a little guilty for eating his food. Then again, he kept saying she was a guest, so it was only natural that a guest would eat food made for them, right?
Biting her lip, she reached up and touched her injured arm gingerly, before yawning again. "We should change my bandages, again." She mentioned quietly, before smiling up at him, eyes bright. "After breakfast." She began eating again, this time giving up on the utensils entirely and eating with her fingers. The egg was gone, so the rest of the food was relatively easy to pick up anyway.
"Breakfast food is the best food." Penelope sang to herself, grabbing a couple more pieces of bread and covering them with butter. "I love breakfast." She glanced up at Elijah once more and waggled her eyebrows, before laughing a bit at herself.
"Sorry, am I being silly? I'm happy." Penelope grinned and gave him a thumbs up.

He nods at her answers, beaming at her before quickly chuckling. "Cooking only takes about twenty minutes or so, it's really no hardship." He waves it off, taking a bite of bacon himself. "And I had some papers to go through. Didn't want to put them off for any longer." He gestures at the documents by the study table, quickly dismissing them as he looks at the food. He'd work later, right now it was breakfast time.
"After breakfast." He agrees, before quickly adding. "Maybe you'd like a shower first? Not that I'm saying that you smell or anything." But you do. "I was thinking you'd appreciate getting cleaned up first, that way you can scrape off the dirt and grime that's gotten stuck in your wounds before we wrap them up again." He suggests. Saves them the effort, and might as well. He's not sure if he should be horrified or proud when she starts eating with her hands. She's either lost all civility, or the food was so good that she couldn't stop herself any longer. As a result, he painfully smiles at her, bemused and indignant at the same time.
Not like the rest of the his pokemon were any better anyway.
He laughs. Whereas most of her food is gone, his plate is barely touched, but that's mainly because he's been watching her for the past five minutes as she packed the food away. "Uhm. Moderately silly. A touch of insane." He admits, grinning sheepishly. Turning back to his plate, he eats a mouthful of eggs, looking around with strange hope.
"I'm glad you're here for breakfast. We do normally eat like this, when I'm not hungover, maybe sometimes when I am. Feels more like family, y'know?" Not like they did this kind of thing when Elijah was a child back in the big house. Breakfast in bed was wonderful, but somehow lonely.
Penelope blushed as he mentioned she should get a shower, leaning down to sniff herself. She did stink. Of blood, sweat, his bedsheets, and him himself. It was an awkward and strange scent, and Penelope felt awful for even bringing it into his home now. Of course he would be polite and try and say that she didn't smell, but she knew she did and she pushed back from the table slowly, trying to distance her smell from his poor nostrils.
"Sorry about that." She mumbled quietly, before itching her arm. "And about using my hand. My right arm hurts too much to pick up the fork." She flopped her right hand awkwardly onto the table and rolled her eyes. It was only now that she realized what a mess she must look like. She reached up with her good arm and tried to smooth down her hair, her blush growing more a more crimson as she tried to keep her embarrassment to a minimum. She hadn't wanted to start the morning off looking like she was just attacked by a stinky bed sheet.
"I think a shower is a great idea." Penelope tucked her fingers between her thighs, watching him eat his own meal. He was so civilized, and Penelope just felt like some sort of feral animal, watching him. So she averted her gaze and smiled at the nearest pokemon, Rush. The Ponyta was beautiful. Penelope had a huge soft spot for fire types.
Sighing, she glanced back up to Elijah and shrugged her shoulders. "Family is always nice." She smiled politely. Her and her father hadn't had a meal together in over 16 years, let alone been in the same area for the past 13.
"It's a nice sentiment. You should try to be less hungover more often, if this is the byproduct." She motioned around at his pokemon and smiled at him, thinking about her own pokemon upstairs in her bag. Bruce and Wyck and the egg she had received were all tucked safely into her bag.

"It's alright, don't worry about it." He says, amused by how quickly she wanted to please. She probably felt like the guest that she was, surrounded by pokemon she didn't really know. At least she accepted the offer to bathe. It would have been awkward if she hadn't, not that Elijah would have said anything out loud.
"But being drunk is great. Wouldn't you agree?" He smiles mischievously. Their first night together had been riddled with alcohol. Of course, he didn't need to mention that when she left, and he found himself alone the next morning, he had resolutely finished the rest of the alcohol that had been forgotten during the night. Couldn't let it go to waste though it had left a bitter after taste in his mouth that had nothing to do with the vodka.
He picks at the last bits of egg on his plate, still a whole slice of toast left. "So. What are your plans today?" For how long can I keep you, was the underlying question. He still had a lot to ask, about where she'd been and why Magma was after her. It could all wait til after her bath, though he'd like to know how much time he had to grill her on the topics.
Laughing slightly at the way he spoke so mischievously about the alcohol, she rolled her eyes and crossed her good leg over her bad one, folding her arms across her chest. So he thought about it too, right? She thought back to how their night together might have been a drunken one, but it was still special to her. Her face flushed a bit at the thought, but she kept her poker face on.
"Yeah, but I bet some things would be better enjoyed without." She retorted quickly, raising an eyebrow. If he wanted to play that game, she could play back. It wasn't like she wasn't thinking about it; being with him sober, and actually knowing what she was doing... Might be a lot better than drunkenly fumbling and falling together like two puzzle pieces. Next time, she would make it even better.
And she would stay.
Smiling a bit, she unfolded her arms and went to stand, using Praline, who was still hovering by her like a worried mother hen, to steady herself. "I haven't got past showering. Or maybe a bath. After that... Maybe you could think of something fun to do, since I guess I'll be here until I can walk further than the stairs." Penelope grinned at him and winked, before moving to the door.
"I'm going to run some water."

He wants to ask like what but that seemed counter productive so he doesn't. She could probably come up with one or two good things but for a lazy man like Elijah, he was fully content to drinking and doing things within his comfort. And by the looks of her, she was determined to prove him wrong.
Elijah estimates that she might need a little over a week to recover, though he doesn't know how much pain she's in so he can't be all that sure. "Sure, I'll bring out the cards." He grins amicably, forcing himself not to react to the wink. Was she suggesting he join her in the shower? Probably not, but the thought is there in his head anyway. He get up to clear the dishes, the rest of the pokemon running a little rampant in the house now. They'd have to be returned into their pokeballs soon enough, training would have to be skipped today in lieu of Penny's unannounced visit. What to do?
First things first, they actually had to talk.
He settles himself on the study table after he's done the dishes, Praline had gone along with Penny and would have stayed by the bathroom door as he groomed himself while waiting for her so that was one pokemon down. He returns both Rush and Desp into their pokeball, Rush mostly because he might set something on fire, and Desp had a nasty habit of leaving pollen everywhere. Which left Mint the Larvitar who was currently slumped on the couch.
It's weird that he's waiting for her, he thinks, as he reorganizes his papers, skimming and signing as he goes.
Penelope sat on the edge of the tub as she waited for it to fill up, before stepping into it while it was half-way full. She was partially expecting him to come up and at least check on her. When it didn't seem the case quite yet, she turned off the water and moved her hand through the suds, staring at the iridescent light that moved through them. Praline sat by the door, and she smiled over at the Togekiss, before starting to rub down the stitches and mud that had seeped through her jumpsuit and onto her flesh.
The scent of the bodywash was nice. Floral. She had found a whole collection of women's things on one of the shelves, and she convinced herself that they were just left behind. Or maybe in place for other... Guests. Penelope frowned slightly, but tried not to think about it. She was here now, and that's what mattered.
When it came time to wash her back and her hair, she sighed, knowing that she couldn't really reach anything. The soak suds were still abundant, and she didn't think it would be too much to ask for help in the areas that she literally could not reach.
"Praline, can you get Elijah?" She patted her back with her good hand. "I can't reach."

When Praline comes down, nudging him towards the stairs, he has to say he's a little confused but he goes along with it. Penny must need something, or else Praline wouldn't bother. He leaves the rest of his work on the table, and saunters after the fairy.
"Yes?" He calls out through the door, wondering if he should enter. He decides that it's his house anyway, and Penny did ask for his help so he enters regardless. To be met with Penelope's naked back, the slippery from soap, the horrible gash on her shoulder was what caught his attention the most. He breathes in, stifling the sudden blush that attempts to cover his cheeks with a cough, as well as other urges.
