The young female trainer exhaled lightly as she found herself walking through the town of Littleroot once again. She couldn't remember why she had come back here, even though she had just left the Pokemon Lab to have them check on her newly hatched Vulpix since they seemed to know quite a bit on baby pokemon of all types and rarities. Technically she could have just done this at any pokemon center but it just felt better to do it at the lab, again even if she didn't remember that was why she had come by. Now the little fire type pokemon was in the female trainer's arms nuzzling at the girl for more attention. It was a spoiled pokemon but it wasn't a problem for Syndra who gave her all the affection it could have wanted. Part of her was curious if she'd run into anyone starting their journey today as that was always a possibility in Littleroot. That might have been another reason she dropped by the town.

FOR ALL THE JOY THAT IS TO COME
PARTY
[ SETH ] It was early morning, and Seth was happy to be awake. Being awake earlier and longer meant more opportunities to study Pokemon. He was about to dash out of Littleroot Town to go explore the route for the second day in a row--he was just too interested in the Pokemon there to get to the next town, apparently. So many Pokemon. So many.
On his way out, Seth noticed a nice girl holding a little red thing. It was a Pokemon! Seth's eyes positively sparkled when he noticed, and he immediately changed direction to go look at it. His Shinx was following right behind him, looking momentarily confused by the sudden change in direction. She had slept in her pokeball, but Seth brought her out shortly after getting ready for the day to give her pep-talk totally not to just fawn over her adorableness.
As Seth got within a few paces, he spoke up--and immediately got nervous. Pokemon he was okay with. Pokemon he absolutely loved. People he hated. People made him feel awkward. He had to control how he felt around people. Nonetheless, he had already started speaking, "Hey! What kind of P-Pokemon is that?" Nards. It was a rare thing for Seth to go one sentence without showing his nervous side with a stranger. Once he was comfortable with someone and didn't feel the need to keep up appearances, he relaxed so much. But in a new place with no one he knew, Seth was having a hard time. He was positively bombarded by strangers in an unfamiliar setting. He really needed some lasting friendships--soon.
[ SUMMARY ] - 267 - poor thing forgot about his pokedex again
Taking another deep breath, the female shook any stray thoughts she had in her mind at the time. It was about time for her to get moving back on her journey. The lab didn't report anything negative about her new baby pokemon so she was good to go. As she took a step forward however it didn't take long for her to notice the male nearby. Was he looking her direction? The young woman paused hesitantly as she looked back towards the younger man. The Vulpix in her arms however cried out in interest as she saw the new person nearby. "Umm," she said lowly to herself as she watched the male approach with some caution.
Once he spoke however the tension that Syndra held was immediately released by her next exhale. He was just interested in her pokemon and he seemed nervous at that based on how he spoke. It was adorable and brought a smile to the green haired girl's face. If only her brothers acted so cute. "This is Vulpix, a fire type pokemon. Say hi sweetie," she said in a friendly tone before placing the fox down on the ground. With the chance the fire type immediately sprung to her paws and made her way to the unknown male's side, pawing at his leg undoubtedly craving attention from him. The Vulpix didn't even notice the Electric type nearby and the antics got the female trainer chuckling. "She's a bit spoiled but she always means well..." she trailed off with the feeling she was forgetting something. It didn't take long for her to realize what it was though, "oh and I'm Syndra by the way. Nice to meet you." She extended her hand out for a handshake though she wouldn't have blamed him if he was too preoccupied with her Vulpix to accept it.

[ SETH ] Vulpix? It was so cute! When it approached Seth, he happily knelt down and ruffled its fur. "Oh!" Seth pulled out his pokedex, thinking his should get as much information on it as possible. One fewer Pokemon to discover. While the little machine chirped out a description, Seth's Shinx charged up with an intention to play with the new Pokemon. She really seemed to feed on Seth's outward emotions: since Seth was being friendly with the Vulpix, that meant it was okay for her to be as well. It was a lot better than some other interactions they'd had...
Seth was so distracted with the cute Vulpix and the pokedex talking to him--and, ohhh, the two Pokemon were so cute playing together!--that he almost didn't notice the Vulpix's owner speaking to him. "Oh!" He gave another surprised sound (something that didn't seem so uncommon with him) and reached up to shake her hand, still kneeling with the Pokemon. "Seth." He reluctantly kept eye contact for a few more seconds before happily turning back to the Pokemon. He knew it probably came off very rude, but he couldn't really take the action back.
[ SUMMARY ] - Seth used ignore!
- 193 - please excuse, i promise hes not an asshole
The fire pokemon thrived off the attention she got from the new male, giving her most cutest cries as she swished her tails from side to side to indicate that she was happy. Vulpix pranced about in front of him to show off as he looked up the information on the fox which earned a giggle from her trainer. It never ceased to amaze her how much Vulpix would do for affection. For now the female trainer let her fire fox be as now the Vulpix was being playfully tackled by the other quadruped pokemon. Enjoying it for now the fire type tossed and turned with the electric pokemon now, pawing playfully as she jumped back and forth when actually on her feet. The sight was rather adorable and Syndra was glad that her young Vulpix had a playmate even if it was only temporary.
Now it didn't seem to bother the female when she seemingly got blown off. She had received a name and a handshake so she doubted that the male was as bad as the first experience would make it out to be. Her own brothers used to do the same to her all the time when they got a new toy from somewhere or another. It was no different and it caused the girl to chuckle at the memories. In addition she had known her Vulpix was too cute to resist keeping an eye on. Half of her attention was split onto the pokemon anyway so it was only natural. Instead of being too defiant and angry she simply got onto her knees and brushed her fingertips behind her own pokemon's ears. "I'm guessing you like pokemon a lot then?" she tried again to start up a conversation but if Seth had no intention of speaking to her she would not force it. If he had answered however then she didn't mind showing off the rest of her team. None were as cute as her Vulpix but she doubted any pokemon would be save for a few.

[ SETH ] The Pokemon tossing about on the grass was the most adorable thing. They would playfully swat at each other and yip excitedly. It was something Seth's Shinx hadn't had the chance to do yet, and she was clearly enjoying herself. Seth would probably rather do this all the time than battle; there were winners and losers in battles, but no one lost in playtime. He was even giggling at their antics every so often.
"Huh?" Seth's attention was torn from the Pokemon, Oh yeah. Can't get enough of them, heh." His gaze drifted back to the little things halfway through his reply, but not in a dismissive way. He would seem open to conversation, but it was clear his main focus was on their Pokemon. Pokemon seemed to soothe him--at least, the cute ones he'd seen so far did. It made it a bit easier to talk to someone so knew. And, Seth supposed he should try to be polite. "That Shinx is my first, though. There are so many Pokemon I still need to see." A smile at the playing had crept onto his face, and it stayed after he spoke, like he was finally comfortable in this situation.
The response she received made the girl smile a bit. That was more of a response than she had gotten before. Progress. She mirrored Seth's actions by turning her attention back to the two pokemon at play. The more that she watched the happier she got. She could only hope that Seth felt the same. It seemed so when he stated he couldn't get enough of pokemon at least. He definitely appeared more at ease now. "Well I'm glad. My vulpix could always use a new playmate." As time went by the younger male spoke first which shocked Syndra as she thought he was content with the current situation. Maybe he was but didn't want to seem rude?
Either way it let her know a few things. A new trainer starting out but more interested in pokemon then anything else? It seemed more like a breeder or ranger than an actual trainer. Maybe he was a trainer, who knew? "Shinx is your first? She seems very cute and well behaved," Syndra responded with a bit of a laugh. The last part of what Seth said caught her attention too. This was likely her cue to show off the rest of her pokemon on had so she turned to him. "If you would like, you can meet the rest of my pokemon." She would offer a bit of a smile as she said this. Then again she didn't want to overstep her own bounds and assume so she didn't reach for her pokeballs yet. "None are as cute as Vulpix here but if you're interested then I don't mind." Her Vulpix overheard what her trainer said and looked over to Syndra with interest. A bit of doll like eyes as she looked to her trainer, Syndra poked the fox's nose to spur her back into playing with the Shinx.

[ SETH ] Anytime Syndra wanted to have a Pokemon playdate, Seth would agree. How could he refuse when their Pokemon seemed to enjoy each other so much? They had only just met each other and they seemed like best friends. Despite how "well-behaved" Shinx was acting right now, Seth didn't really think she was all that obedient. Sure, she listened when he gave commands and did her best to protect him, but otherwise she would do her own thing. She had gotten him in trouble at least once--a memory that marred his smile with a wince for a second. He shrugged to give a noncommittal agreement to the comment, though.
At the mention of more Pokemon, Seth had to work hard to hold in an excited gasp. "You have more?" He couldn't hide the excitement from Syndra as he met her look. Seth needed more, but he was definitely working on that. He would catch all of the Pokemon. "I would love to see them!" The Vulpix didn't need to be told to go back to playing as Shinx outright tackled her to get her attention back. Seth's Pokemon didn't seem to care (or comprehend, I suppose) about more Pokemon about to come out, but Syndra definitely had his full attention now.
Yep. Definitely reminded Syndra of her younger brothers. The way he's eyes lit up when she mentioned her other pokemon were adorable and it was hard to look away from. There was an urge not to disappoint Seth at this very moment. His excitement was infectious and her smile grew wider with each passing second. "Alright then," she said happily as she got back to her feet. Unclipping most of her pokeballs from her belt, she tossed them into the sky. "Come on out everyone!" she called out a bit louder than would have been suitable for the time of day it was. A large combined flash of light illuminated a small area before the two trainers and behind the playing pokemon to reveal the array of pokemon Syndra had in her arsenal.
As the light dissipated the smaller of the pokemon would appear first, the small sandile and sandshrew looked up slowly. Their faces appeared rather drowsy as they did not expected to be called out so early in the morning. They looked over at the scene to figure out what was going on but did nothing much otherwise. The round blue pokemon was next as he rolled forward with a cute cooing as a greeting, not too bothered by the time. Lastly the largest of Syndra's pokemon appeared in verbal silence, the Grotle shaking his back which made the bushes there rustle instead. The group looked to the green haired girl to figure out what was going on as they were rarely called out all together except for at the pokemon center. "I know it's early but I thought you could all have fun for a bit. Seth here wanted to meet you all so be nice to him," she stated as she motioned over to him. Even though the Shinx had tackled the Vulpix, the fox returning the favor as well, the fox greeted the other pokemon briefly before returning to their little wrestling match.
Spheal was the first to do as asked as he rolled in front of Seth and waved his nonexistent arms. The ground types looked on but for the most part remained motionless. It didn't seem that they were fully awake yet.

[ SETH ] Littleroot was a tiny town with very few people who actually lived there. The only inhabitants were likely to be people starting their Pokemon journey, and they probably went for the route as soon as they could anyway. The sound and light weren't likely to disturb anyone. Seth couldn't care anyway, his giddy attention on the new Pokemon blocking everything else out. Of course he had already seen other Pokemon, but not such a varied collection all at once. What was in store for him in his future if a mere trainer could casually show him this?
Once he got over the initial shock, Seth got his pokedex again and scanned all of them in turn. With four Pokemon for the thing to talk about, it would take a moment. It was still going by the time the Spheal rolled over, and Seth scratched its head absentmindedly. Once the pokedex was finally done, Seth turned his head toward Syndra, "Where did you get them all?" He seemed absolutely fascinated. Seth hadn't even gotten further than Route 101, and he had no idea what kinds of Pokemon were out there waiting for him. There were probably plenty more to see just this early on the journey, too!
[ SUMMARY ] - 206 - yes, good, fill up that pokedex
The water type cooed happily as he felt the human's hands petting him. He was used to getting attention just like the fox was though unlike Vulpix did not mind sharing the spotlight. Luckily the fire pokemon was too preoccupied with the shinx to notice much less mind. Syndra giggled at the excitement that stemmed mainly from Seth as he took out his pokedex and scanned them all. The information that it provided was basic enough so that the female trainer didn't have to explain much. Rather than try to get too involved in the action though she walked to the side and stood next to her Grotle. The grass type glanced over and nudged her hand a bit to which Syndra used to pet the turtle's shell.
The question that Seth asked did catch her off guard though. She thought he'd be too interested in looking over all the pokemon to even remember she was there. It did make her believe that Seth was much more comfortable with her now which made things easier so she thought over how to answer. "Oh, I caught my pokemon during my travels." This was a general answer and relatively obvious on top of that so she tried to remember the exact locations that she caught all her pokemon. With a call of its name, the grass type drew attention to himself first so that was a good place to start. "My little Grotle here was my first pokemon I got here in Littleroot. It was a turtwig at the time but he's grown big and strong. Dependable too." The compliment made the turtle pleased with himself as he tried to stand taller to show this trait much to the annoyance of the ground types near him. Sandshrew glared back at the grass type but was talked down by the sand crocodile. Syndra sighed in relief at that as she didn't want to cause a scene. In small towns anything abnormal thing was news and caused a scene and she wanted to avoid that. "Sandile and Sandshrew I caught when I first started on route 101. Sandshrew was a bit aggressive and protective though." Sandshrew scoffed at that but did little else that was notable.
With that it covered the first stretch of her travels. The next stretch was still ongoing but at least the previous part was within reach for Seth. "As for Spheal I found him drifting in the ocean on route 104... on the beach actually. Vulpix is newly hatched pokemon. I received an egg from an event and a day later this cutie was born" The way Syndra spoke was of light hearted pride about her pokemon. It was good to reminisce about her first meeting with the pokemon she had and reflect on her journey. Just meeting Seth being so giddy about her pokemon gave her renewed energy and positive thoughts on continuing her travels too. "I can tell you really love pokemon. Are you going to be starting off on your journey soon?"

FOR ALL THE AIR THAT'S IN YOUR LUNGS
FOR ALL THE JOY THAT IS TO COME

[ SETH ] "That's so cool." Seth had listened intently, sitting on the ground and looking up at Syndra as she talked about her Pokemon. She seemed pretty new, too, but not as fresh as Seth. He wanted to do all the things she had done: catch a Pokemon in the wild and on the beach and hatch an egg. He wanted to learn as much as he could about Pokemon. The fascination that got him excited was also the one that quelled his anxiety. As they bonded over Pokemon, Seth truly was getting more comfortable with Syndra. She wasn't really a stranger anymore, even though they had met mere minutes ago. Sharing something as personal as your history can do that.
Seth had only just started his "journey" yesterday. He had been handed a Shinx and told to explore the region. Unfortunately, he hadn't quite gotten anywhere yet. He planned to very soon, though. He blushed a little in embarrassment, "I, uh, already have." He had accomplished almost nothing at this point except for making his Shinx marginally stronger. It would take a lot of focus to get anywhere in this place, and he was starting to realize that.
"There's nothing wrong with taking your time," Syndra stated as she heard how he responded to her question. She didn't want to make Seth feel bad by not having moved on yet. From what she guessed Seth had just started so there was no reason to rush anything. While her journey so far on paper might have seemed impressive they only encompassed a few weeks. She knew there was much more out there and that once Seth felt comfortable enough to explore that he would have just as exciting of a time. "Littleroot is a nice town and you can get plenty of experience just outside the edge of town. My little ones here can attest to that." Syndra kneeled down and brushed her hand over the heads of both her ground type pokemon who both also ignored the sentiment much to the girl's embarrassment.
For a moment, she thought about having Seth tag along with her as she went back to Petalburg like she had done before with a trainer named Sylvester. Yet that might detract from the adventure as Seth was new and there was no specific event that they all had to get to. Still she'd offer just in case he wanted to since she would have loved the offer back when she first started. "What are your plans then? Anywhere specific you want to go?" she asked curiously as she made her way back to Seth's side with her Grotle following up behind her. Spheal seeing as her trainer was holding the attention of the other trainer went over to play with the Vulpix and Shinx though didn't expect more than being used as a beach ball for the two. Sandshrew and Sandile had fallen back to sleep for the most part but stayed somewhat attentive in case something happened. "I just dropped by to visit the lab so we could travel together to the next town if you want. Or I could just give you my PokeNav information in case you want to go on your own so we could meet up later." The last part just came to mind as she said the first part and she took out her pokeNav just in case. "I'm sure Vulpix would love playing with your Shinx again in the future. We can compare pokemon down the line too... if you want to that is."

[ SETH ] Where even was there to travel? There was Oldale close to here, but what was after that? How many cities were there? How big were they? Just how expansive was this region? Seth had so so much to find out. He fall backwards dramatically, arms splayed out. "Everywhere." The word came out as a whisper just as melodramatic as the movement before it. Seth had a naive sense of grandeur, expecting everything to be fantastic with his lofty goals. Hopefully he wouldn't be disappointed too soon on his journey.
Seth laid there and reveled in his plans, staring up at the morning sky. His reverie was interrupted when Syndra spoke again, "Hmm?" Getting himself up on his elbows, Seth met her eyes. He looked excited at the prospect of meeting more Pokemon as well as having a more long-term friend. It appeared he hadn't completely screwed up with this girl. "Oh, that would be fantastic!" Seth intended to throw his hands up excitedly, but forgot that he was supporting himself with those arms. He fell back down with a surprised sound, going red. "I'm always happy to travel with friends." He really was. Traveling with her would be pleasant, but meeting up here and there would be great, too.
[ SUMMARY ] - Seth hurt himself! - not really, he's fine
- 206 - they can probably run into each other in petalburg
Everywhere. She heard it if only barely but she heard it. Everywhere was an interesting word to use here and Syndra couldn't really make fun of him for it. The green haired trainer was the same way in fact, wanting to see the rest of the region and what it had to offer. That said she couldn't help but chuckle at herself as Seth made a spectacle of himself as he fell over onto the ground. It was cute and at the same time she couldn't help but think about how much youthful energy he had. It was refreshing and he didn't look too much younger than she was either.
Her suggestion also looked to be a hit too as her eyes met his as he got up onto his elbows. He made another exaggerated movement and the sight of it shocked Syndra as she moved her hand forward. Sure it might have been a light fall but that was her instinctual response seeing that happen. Grotle made a similar response but moved to try to prevent Seth from falling flat on his back, instead standing behind him to have him lean on the grass type's sturdy body. Vulpix saw as well and saw it as an opportunity to jump onto Seth for some attention, licking at his face affectionately.
With that Syndra almost missed with Seth had said and at the term of friend being used, her face lit up. She was happy that he considered her a friend now even with the rough start but it was clear as day to her that Seth was a decent person to have as a friend. "Sure, no problem." She showed the male the screen with her pokeNav's contact information so he could jot it down before speaking again. "It might be better for you to figure out how to get to Petalburg alone instead of me taking you. That way you won't get lost if we ever part ways... Do you know how to get there?"
Grotle, grass-type (overgrow)
Sandile, ground-type (intimidate)
Sandshrew, ground-type (sand rush)
Spheal, water/ice-type (thick fat)
Vulpix, fire-type (flash fire)
I'll keep posting for a bit more until we both reach 12 posts and then we can thread in Petalburg or 104 once you get there? =)
