MAKE ME FEEL
LIKE A GOD
Niklaus let out a soft hiss at Kristmar’s commands, Kalos glancing back at him and wondering if he should do anything about it. The pink haired young man debated it for a moment before shaking his head firmly at the turtle as he murmured, “Just focus on not getting hit by those pincers again.” The tiny turtle winced and let out a small chirp in agreement. He wasn’t looking forward to it, especially not with how gleeful the crab was about it…in fact it was kind of pissing the Squirtle off. He let out a small frustrated sound, feeling his temper rising at the stupid giant crab as he was ordered to do vice grip…again. Even Niklaus could feel his own irritation flaring for a second at hearing those commands again and a soft ‘tsk’ escaped him unthinkingly. Hearing the irritation his human also felt voiced loud enough for him Kalos gritted his teeth because really…this stupid crab was pissing him off and it was time to stop messing around.
The pinkette could see his squirtle’s temper rising and smirked, amusingly enough unlike with other pokemon. For some reason when Kalos got pissed he got vicious and his attacks came all that much harder like in the case with the Sentret Kris had. The tiny turtle had done stunningly well in his rage against the Sentret so Nik decided he would use that anger to his advantage as the Krabby came in for his attack. “Dodge it, Kalos…and double ice beam.” If Kristmar wanted to get repetitive…fine they’d get repetitive.
Kalos wasted no time, dodging the first pincer by leaping up and on top of it to shoot a blast of ice in its ugly mug. He let out a pained but angry noise when like before its pincer caught him again, his shell beginning to throb under the pressure but he ignored it. More interested in swallowing in as much air and letting out another jagged blast of ice at the Krabby in retaliation for being so damn gleeful when it should just faint already. Kalos wriggled around before freeing himself, stumbling slightly as he landed before hopping a little ways away. His breath coming in soft pants and a grimace on his little face but he glared at the Krabby venomously.

Astor was getting pissed with the squirtle's onslaught of ice beams, Kalos was getting pissed with the krabby's continuous vice grips and... Nikkie looked like he was getting pretty bothered himself by it. All Kristmar could do was give an uneasy and slightly apologetic smile to the man across the field. He was sorry for not having a more attractive move pool at his disposal but he wasn't sorry about steadily wearing the squirtle down. Bit by bit, chip by chip, Astor was gradually getting there. [break][break] The krabby was growing accustomed to fighting on this sufferable terrain and, now that he'd broken a section and created a spiderwork of cracks and crevices, his slim and hooked legs had somewhere to grip on. Unlike the squirtle's thicker and lumbering elephant feet. Seeing Kalos prepare another ice beam after already striking him with his first, the crab leapt backwards, skittering out of the way of the blast. [break][break] "Good, good~" Kristmar praised, rubbing his hands together. "He has to eventually run out of steam for that move, Ast." Eventually. If they were lucky. But even the squirtle's other moves still packed a fair amount of punch. And... Nikkie was probably going to hate him by the end of his round but Kris scratched the bridge of his nose, a little meekly, a little embarrassed about being so repetitive, and barked out his next order (even if he probably didn't have to by now): "Again!

This…was really starting to get to him. The squirtle let out a soft sound almost resembling a growl and looked back at his trainer, his little features pinched to show his frustration with the giant crab in front of them when it dodged his attack. Nik let out a soft partially amused sound that didn’t totally reach his eyes and the tiny turtle upon seeing this felt validated that it wasn’t the only one getting tired of the repeats. It only served to make his irritation worse when he heard the blonde trainer tell Astor ‘again’ and Kalos’s eyes zoned in on said trainer, narrowing its eyes at him. Silently it promised to get back at the blonde once this was over and use every trick it had to make his life a living hell for a bit. “Get your head back in the battle, Kal.” At his trainers warning the small turtle pokemon looked back in time to see the Krabby swing its pincer towards him in attempt to get it in its grasp.
Kalos let out a startled sound and attempted to get out the way again but was too late, caught in the Krabby’s claw last minute he struggled. “We’re going to use Ice beam again.” The squirtle glanced over at his trainer before obeying, sending a blast of jagged ice at the huge stupid thing just as it was hit by vice grip again. His strength lagged for a moment and Nikki gritted his teeth as he watched painfully as his pokemon was squeezed and he growled out, “Again, damn it.” For a moment Kalos almost appeared in too much pain to do it but after a moment he obeyed, shooting out another blast of ice right at the creature holding him and wiggling to freedom. His breath came out harsh, his shell throbbing painfully and his body battered from the constant vice grips taken. However, he still had enough energy to make his anger known in his narrowed eyes.

There was a grim relief to be found in Astor finally going down for good. He actually managed to dodge one of Kalos' frustrated ice beams before, ultimately, falling victim to the second and inevitably going down for the count. His solid body, covered in clusters of ice, slid across the cracked surface of the ice and rolled a little along the grass with a sense of finality. Kris breathed out and rolled his eyes up to the cloudless sky. Another round of vicegrips would probably have made Kalos' next ice beam be fired at him if the turtle's murderous leering was anything to do by. He rubbed the back of his neck with a surprisingly bright smile and, with his other hand, called back his fainted krabby. At least he'd served his purpose well though; Astor had weakened the squirtle considerably, surpassing even the expectations Kristmar had had of him. [break][break] "Well then..." He started off, albeit with slight awkwardness, and finally looked down to the ralts resting, curled up on the grass, and watching the battle from a safe distance. "Time to change things up a bit... I guess." But he wasn't about to apologize. A battle was a battle. Niklaus had been just as repetitive with his onslaught of ice beams which, honestly, Kris didn't know where Kalos got the energy to use so many. [break][break] Is it my turn again then, Kristmar? [break][break] Ah, that was better. Adelaide's voice sounded much more crisp in his mind again now, it was back to its melodic yet gentle quality, rather than being strained and jaded. Kris nodded his head at her and the small pokémon clambered up to her feet. [break][break] Kalos feels very... irritated though, Kristmar. And so does Niklaus. Kris sighed loudly, a smile curving his lips although he felt very little amusement. "I'm not surprised, Addy, so... be careful." As she walked past him, the blonde reached out and smoothed his hand over the green dome of her head, earning a rare audible trill of her name. "Start off with confusion and see how he takes that. Astor tired him out a lot." [break][break] Adelaide tilted her head back, enough to peer at Kalos with her wide, pinkish eyes from under the brim of her helmet of green, and paused at the edge of the frozen ground. Too slippery for her inexperienced feet but her attack should reach from over here. She stored energy in the red horns that protruded from her head and fired a quick blast of dizzying power towards the furious little turtle.

Niklaus watched as Astor went down, his eyes narrowing minutely as relief washed through him and the tension from the irritation released. His eyes flickered towards Kalos who could barely stand but still continued to glare heatedly in the direction of both Astor and Kris long after the Krabby was called back. He was about to call him back when Kris spoke up…calling Adelaide to the field again and sanguine eyes narrowed immediately back onto the small ralts. They were continuing then? He gave a side long glance at his pack and then to Kalos before smirking…he had the perfect idea then. Grabbing his last potion from his bag he sped walk to his little squirtle and knelt beside him, murmuring as he administered the potion to the agitated pokemon. “Alright, Kal…Remember I told you they did a number on Ventus??” Kalos’ large eyes zeroed in on Nik immediately at those words, narrowed eyes becoming brighter as the potion took effect.
“Adelaide is the one who did it to him.” The tiny turtle pokemon’s nostrils flared and his eyes locked on the little female’s form, unable to keep from imagining how hurt the little hatchling must have been considering how fond it was of the female. With a sharp chirrup of its name the pokemon set its stance and lowered itself to the icy ground just in time to hear Kristmar’s command…Squirtle couldn’t believe it…the blonde human was doing it again! Nikki sighed, shaking his head at the blonde and feeling just a tad bit sorry for what he’d have waiting for him once this was over. Kalos was not pleased and it was becoming more and more obvious his anger was the leading factor in these fights now which meant they’d be a lot harsher as well as brutal. Kalos was no longer holding back, not even on this tiny female as she sent out two confusion’s after him.
He let out a sharp sound of annoyance and ran forward, listening for Nik’s commands which he didn’t have to wait long for. Niklaus was sure his squirtle was a little tired of ice beam so he’d switch it up a bit…“Use watergun, Kal!” Putting on a little more speed the small turtle pokemon took the brunt of the first confusion, staggering a bit but managing to shake of the affects just as it shot a blast of water at the small female. He let out a heavy breath just as the second confusion hit him but he’d braced enough for it that it sent him skidding the slightest bit however…this time the attack took effect and left him slightly confused.
KALOS GAINED A LEVEL! KALOS WAS HEALED WITH POTION! KALOS WAS HIT WITH CONFUSION! KALOS USED WATERGUN! KALOS WAS HIT WITH CONFUSION! KALOS IS NOW CONFUSED!

It couldn't be... he wasn't... fuck. Fuck. He was. He was using another potion on Kalos. Kristmar let his frustration be very easily known. Why wouldn't Niklaus just let his squirtle go down and stay down?! The blonde dragged his fingertips over his face, sighing aggressively with a displeased growl rumbling in the depths of his throat. And now Kalos was pissed to boot! Fully healed and pissed. It seemed so very fucking unfair to put his poor ralts up against him now. Kris had seen Kalos when he'd gotten angered; Adelaide didn't deserve to fight that beast he turned into, like, fuck. [break][break] Don't worry, Kristmar. I'll be fine. Adelaide chimed as she shook off the excess water from the squirtle's attack, reaching out with her soothing presence to her agitated trainer's mind. It appears my last confusion addled him at least. [break][break] Hm? The blonde glanced up from his hands and towards Kalos who, effectively, appeared quite... disorientated. Adelaide had a point. Kalos looked as though he'd been left confused by her attack and a breath whispered past his lips, one that only contained a sliver of relief, but relief nevertheless. Maybe that'd be enough to put them at a slight advantage; Kris wanted this over fast, before Addy was put at the mercy of Kalos' ice beams. She'd never last as long as Astor did. [break][break] "Okay, go in with one more confusion, Addy," he told her, pushing down his irritation so to keep his focus on this battle. There was nothing he could do about Nikkie using another potion and there was nothing against it; it'd just make taking down Kalos even fucking sweeter when it eventually happened. He watched the dual type repeat her action from before, albeit for a shorter amount of time, and began moving closer to the squirtle as she did. "And then dazzling gleam!" And, on cue, the ralts gave a twirl, unleashing a powerful burst of pristine and shimmering light once she was within range.
A soft but sharp breath of air shot past Nikkie’s teeth as Kris ordered another barrage of attacks, a mix of confusion and dazzling gleam. Two things that were sure to seriously hurt his already furious and confused Squirtle. “Relax there Kal, don’t go losing your temper now.” Perhaps it hadn’t been his smartest move to rile the water pokemon so much against an opponent that could addle him so effectively but the tiny turtle pokemon let out a low sound that was almost similar to a growl even as he stood unsteadily on his feet. Nikkie had no doubt this was going to be a slaughter to his unsteady pokemon as he watched the attacks come with no way of getting his squirtle to safety as the confusion landed sending Kalos skidding backwards and then the dazzling gleam only moments after connected and causing Kalos to stay on the ground for a few moments.
Niklaus gritted his teeth and watched the tiny turtle for a moment, fear eating at him as he noticed how weak the creature was unable to even get up as he laid immobile on the ground. Letting out the slightest growl before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly he allowed himself time to calm before he ordered the pokemon to comeback knowing Kalos was done. “Alright Kalos, you did a good job boy.” Kalos let out a soft chirp before laying completely still, unable to go on as the world fell in on itself and darkened to pitch black. Chuckling softly he shook his head at the creature before allowed the red light to send it back into its pokeball, knowing he’d have to give the squirtle a good long rest after this. Humming softly he gave Addie a thoughtful look before picking his next pokemon and smirking a little knowing that this one would be fresh and ready unlike the Ralts before him. “Alright Rhyse, let’s go!”
Releasing the electric squirrel from its pokeball Rhyse let out a soft but excited chitter, scurrying up its trainers clothes to but its head against Nikki’s cheek before hopping on to the battle ground. Rhyse hopped from foot to foot excitedly eyes set on Addie with stubborn determination that Niklaus recognized and laughed at. “Okay then, time to show them what you got Rhyse. First off start with Bite! Then use bide.” Rhyse let out an acknowledging chitter before lunging forward on all fours jaws widening so he could deliver a painful bite to the Ralts with that same stubborn gleam before hopping away and puffing up to endure any incoming attacks.

Hnnn... bide. What a troublesome move to deal with. Ideailly, Kristmar would've preferred to end this as soon as possible seeing as he was on his third pokémon and she was already considerably tired. The corners of the blonde's lips turned down into a pensive frown as he thought on how to proceed. Did he risk it and try to take the pachirisu down in two or three moves? Hope that a confusion addled him too much and rendered him incapable of unleashing the stored power of bide? Or did he assume a less offensive stance this turn?
"Don't attack!" Kris ended up shouting at Adelaide, warning her off the electric squirrel. "Growl at him but don't touch him!"
Slightly shaken on being bitten quite savagely as the electric type's greeting on entering the battle, she acknowledged her trainer's orders anyway. At a safe distance but close enough to be within clear earshot, the ralts growled cutely at the braced pachirisu. Kris knew... that this tactic was a bit of a cheap one, since it rendered Nikkie's practically useless but... strategy was strategy, right?

Well…that was certainly one way of avoiding the impact behind bide but it also caused Nikki to smirk. It was time to give Kris a little taste of his own medicine then and force him into a corner. Since he’d wanted to bombard his squirtle with so many repeats it was time to show Kris just what that was like, especially with Addie already looking tired from going against the angry Squirtle as well as Ventus. He’d feel bad for the little Ralts later on and find some way of making it up to her but at the moment his only focus was on ending this battle once and for all. If she decided to attack, Rhyse wasn’t likely to last very long against her even with the shots he got in.
Rhyse’s eyes flickered up when she growled, tail twitched agitatedly before the power of bide dispersed around him and he made a small chittering sound of confusion. Nikki chuckled and murmured soothingly, “It’s fine Rhyse, we’re just going to have ourselves a bit of fun okay??” The Pachirisu let out an excited little chatter before jumping around, obviously more than ready to have a little fun. “Good, good. We’re going to go in again with Bite and another Bide.” Without waiting for further orders Rhyse darted forward, little tail bobbing behind him as his large teeth came for the small Ralts before he darted back a safe distance. Puffing up and bracing himself as he gathered the power of Bide around him again, preparing to be attacked.
Kristmar would eventually have to choose, keep letting Addie get hit with Bite and simply growling back…or take his chance with bide and attack. In either case…Nikki was confident he’d win.

So his cheap tactic was... being countered with an equally cheap tactic. Kristmar's eyes narrowed, aware that Nikkie probably knew that he was steadily pushing him up against the ropes. Adelaide was weakened, she wouldn't be able to endure a bide that stored the power of two of her attacks but... it was unlikely that two attacks would be enough to take the pachirisu down. The blonde was currently in an unfavourable situation... he might actually lose this, despite all his fighting.
A little exasperated, a little desperate, Kris let the slight pressure he was under show by raking one of his hands roughly through his hair.
Alright, alright. Maybe... he'd just have to take the risk and gamble this one... or else Niklaus might just aim to wear Adelaide down, bit by bit.
"Addy, use confusion!" He commanded, trying to keep his voice confident for her although, being the psychic type she was who was especially tuned into feelings, Adelaide could sense through it. In spite of this, it just filled her with more determination. Her trainer was relying on her more than ever now. "Put everything you've got left into it!"
"Ralts!" She uncharacteristically sang back before squeezing her eyes shut, pouring all of her concentration into her psychic attacks, taking advantage of how the pachirisu would be unable to attack her and interrupt her.

Nikki watched as his attack landed, the bite doing some damage once more and feeling a small smug sense of relief. They had this in the bag then and he felt vaguely satisfied that he still had some skill in battling even if he used a few cheap tricks to get his opponent and traveling partner to bend to his will. Of course…he hadn’t been the Magma Admin for no reason so it was only to be suspected that he’d have a few tricks under his sleeves. He just didn’t use them very often…besides it was fun getting under Kristmar’s skin and it was becoming amusingly visible when the blonde ran a hand through his hair. Good, that meant Kristmar realized the wall he was being pushed into and would start to feel cornered. He’d probably use a growl and then att—
His eyes widened when he heard Kristmar’s attack and he let out a mild horrified sound. Two attacks?! Against Bide??! When Addie was already so weak from her fight with Kalos and taking damage from Rhyse’s bites?? That was suicide. “Kristmar, wait!!” It was too late though and he watched in mild horror as the first confusion hit Rhyse, the Pachirisu wincing as he stumbled back a bit and shook of the attack. An energy slowly starting to build around him and gather as he took in the attack. He could only watch as the next confusion hit hard as well and this time Rhyse noticeably looked disorientated as he recovered from skitting back a ways again. However, suddenly the energy around him released in the attack as he brushed off the confusion and all of it was doubled back at Addie.
The pinkette could barely watch as everything, the stored doubled energy from the attacks and Rhyse, came barreling towards the small Ralts. When contact was made and the damage dealt Rhyse jumped back, stumbling slightly as his own injuries from getting hit twice by those Confusions made themselves known. The electric pokemon noticeably disorientated but preparing to go in for another attack when Nik called out to him. “Rhyse come here!” The Pachirisu hesitated before skittering back to his side of the field and watching. “How is she, Kristmar?” There was clear worry in his tone as he took a step forward.

the truth is cruel, so send me a dream
His hoped tactic for this turn came so close to fruition but, ultimately, failed. The pachirisu ended up being confused as an after effect of Adelaide's attacks but it wasn't enough to incapacitate him.
But that wasn't the worst part.
Kristmar was about to groan, sensing his ralts' incoming defeat, seeing as the squirrel pokémon still possessed enough wits about him to release the stored energy but... he stopped himself. The energy surrounding the pachirisu was far... far greater than he'd anticipated. It practically doubled his expectations. It doubled his... oh. Dread dawned on the blonde as he reached a very unsettling realization. Bide... doubled the damage taken, didn't it? With the way that even Niklaus interjected before, he was certain of it. What... a novice mistake. A foolish mistake. If it weren't for the seriousness of it, Kristmar would be kicking himself.
Adelaide was unconscious before she even touched the ground, unable to even put up the slightest bit of resistance to the power that was the doubled combination of her two previous attacks. A deep feeling of worry, one so strong it made him queasy, gripped Kristmar as even her vague presence that'd comfortably settled itself in the back of his mind vanished entirely.
"Adelaide!" Kris whispered and he rushed the few steps forward to where her body lay, completely still. The first thing he did was scoop the limp pokémon up and press his ear to her chest. She'd... taken so much damage from that bide that he wasn't sure what to expect. But, there it was, a very shallow and steady beating resounding in her chest and Kris allowed himself the smallest of relieved sighs.
"She's alright." He muttered blankly, his tone grim and quiet, and not raising his eyes to Niklaus even the slightest as he knelt on the floor with her. "But I don't want to continue this battle." His gible, Deimos, would make mince meat of that squirrel and it'd be extremely tempting to exact a sort of vengeance on the blameless pachirisu if... getting to a pokécenter wasn't primordial. "You win."

MAKE ME FEEL
LIKE A GOD
Niklaus felt sick as he watched everything unfold, the small docile Ralts flying because of Rhyse’ attack. He could only watch with baited breath as Kristmar rushed over to Addie and checked her out, holding his breath as he watched Kristmar listen to her chest for a sign of life. Rhyse looked between them all, curious and a little worried but uncomprehending as to what actually happened. He’d done good, hadn’t he?? They’d won, hadn’t they?? What did he do wrong? Why was everyone so tense and why did the little Ralts not get back up? Rhyse’s naïve nature made it a little difficult to understand the grim happenings around him but he leeched off enough understanding from his trainers emotions to know something serious was transpiring in front of him. The electric type let out a soft chitter and his tail danced nervously behind him, twitching agitatedly as he moved closer to Nik. Noticing his pokemon’s movement Niklaus grabbed Rhyse’s pokeball and called him back.
The pinkette would congratulate the squirrel like pokemon later in order to make him feel better but for right now his main concern was the pokemon in Kristmar’s arms. He immediately noticed the barest hint of relief in the younger male’s body language when he pulled away from her. Nikki only just caught Kris’ words, the tone behind them making the taller male wince as he let out a soft sigh. The pinkette took a few steps nearer now that he was no longer concerned with the battle. A part of him hyper aware of the eyes suddenly on them after this latest little occurrence and he suddenly wished they hadn’t chose the middle of the town his family lived at to have this battle. A part of him tugging his hood more securely over his head in hopes to hide his shock of bubble gum pink hair as he neared his traveling companion slowly and cautiously. He wasn’t used to this suddenly mute and subdued Kristmar, especially not after a battle and he had no doubt the shock of what just happened…what almost could have happened was getting to him.
However, at his words about not wanting to battle anymore and that Niklaus won his face twisted into a fierce scowl as he growled out. “Who the hell cares about that when Addie needs treatment??” He reached out to yank at Kristmar’s arm for him to get up before swiftly turning away and taking a few purposeful steps forward. He turned slightly, shooting a look over his shoulder as he growled out once more, “Hurry up already. She’s not going to take herself there, Mortensen.” Without another word he was leading the way to the pokecenter hoping that it really wasn’t too serious and that she’d be fine soon enough.
