"Lavaridge, wow." Sebastian blinked curiously, tiliting his head. He had never really had any inclination to visit any hotter places, since he was more of a water kind of guy. He crossed his arms and nodded at her attentively, before smiling politely at her question about Slateport.
What was there to do?
"Well... There's... Lots of water." Sebastian laughed before rolling his eyes and grinning a bit more. "Fishing is big around the ocean, you can catch some really neat fish... Lots of pokemon, too." He thought about it for a moment, stroking his chin with his forefinger.
"There's a pretty nice Oceanic Museum... Pokemon fan club..." He held up his fingers as he counted down on them, staring idly into space as he thought about it.
"Doll shop, shipyard, contest hall..." Sebastian shook himself from his train of thought and smiled at Natalie. "Tons of stuff if you're in town for a while."
Harper tried to hold back the smirking half-giggle that she was holding inside, but it somehow got released as she laughed at his comments about all the water in Hoenn. She pulled her phone back to herself and typed almost cockily, but more funny like she was trying to be that way on purpose.
"Hellooooo, didn't you read where I was from? This water is nothing. I was raised on an island. Nothing more watery than that... Except maybe an underwater secret lab or something!" Harper grinned as his eyes scanned over the message, wiggling her phone a bit to try and throw him off.
She was trying to be silly, and she was really hoping he would appreciate it a little bit more than how his friends were behaving off at the other table.
Step into the mind of a young man And if you don't then I don't really give a damn All I wanna do is make you understand But if you don't wanna listen I guess you ain't a part of the plan Sorry if I digress all I ever wanted was to be the best Stayin' up late night no rest Feelin' bulletproof, no vest But I confess my minds a mess living in world of stress I digest But I gotta keep grinding cause everyday success what I'm finding And I don't give a damn if you hate on me Cause when I blow what you gonna say homie?
It only gets worse. The man feels his eye pulsating now a headache forming as he attempts to sort this all out. If he can act fast enough, maybe just maybe it won't look entirely black by the end of the evening. Before he can even make a motion to fix any of his own bodily problems he has to deal with all the problems surrounding him those being: the girl who after another glance doesn't seem to be Syndra at all, The scizor moving in to jump the table as well, and finally the Heracross more than ready to square the fuck up. On the upside it seems this date of his is also rationalizing the situation this having calmed down herself, probably out of severe depression for the way the evening was turning out. He can see Evan staring at him from across the room almost floored himself. He slides out his phone sending a quick text, Why can't we have nice things. before placing the phone back into his pocket still not entirely ready to deal with the WWE match about take place at his table.
Heracross looks ready to challenge and Braev being the pokemon he is would kill someone before backing down the blade pokemon still looking down at the heracross still shorter than the red pokemon. "Fuck me..." The trainer mumbles under his breath moving behind his scizor attempting to drag the almost 6 foot tall steel pokemon back to no avail. "I hear Evan has some of your favorite snacks, back at his table." He whispers all the while. Dragging his friend into this may not be the best idea but it's the only idea he has. He needs time to regroup and sort things out with this girl before his room, ends up like the one next door.
The scizor's eyes shining at the proposal begins to back off the Heracross finding a target a little more interesting. The steel pokemon doesn't hesitate as he leaves moving toward the other end of the room leaving Miles and his mystery date to work things out. The man is still a bit too animated, but he's beginning to regain some kind of chill. "So... I think we may have a big misunderstanding." Taking a seat hoping with Scizor gone the Heracross would also return to the floor. He slides his phone out for a moment sending another quick text to the only other red head in the room. Pls distract for five minutes sorry. you the real mvp ty ^_^;."
"Could you take off your mask for me, I think I have you mistaken for someone else."
As Miles begins to work out his problems Evan would find a giant looming steel mantis pokemon behind him glaring at both the red haired man and his date, impatient yellow eyes waiting for his snack.
[attr="class","nv3"] but i look at you. i look at you, and god, constellations are bursting, fires are dying, silence is deafening, the whole damn world is terrifying - - - – – and im falling, god, i’m falling.
[attr="class","nv4"]---
[attr="class","nv3"] Harper PruittMiles Serran AS EVAN HAS A PANIC ATTACK AND HES PRETTY SURE HES GOING TO KILL MILES ALSO HE FEELS BAD FOR HARPER BECAUSE HIS FRIENDS ARE FUCKING INSANE
[attr="class","mv"]
[attr="class","mv1"]so far harper wasn't so bad. he had been expecting to sit there bored and hoping that the five minutes would be over because the two of them had nothing in common. instead he found himself laughing and sharing their experience with going into an unfamiliar region. he had just hoped that his other three friends would have been okay.
evan laughed at how harper joked about the water being nothing and shook his head. island or not, hoenn had entirely too much water for his taste. pulling his phone back out, he typed a message and gave a grin as he showed it to the female. "i lived near the ocean myself and this place still has too much water. ponds, lakes, ocean i'm surprised water pokemon hasn't taken over the region yet."
suddenly his pokenav lit up to show he had a message. quickly looking down at it, evan saw that it was from syndra. he hoped that nothing horrible had happened over there since noah wasn't responding to his text. opening the text, he quickly looked it over and his eyes slowly widened in horror at what he read. what the fuck? what the actual fuck? at the next message came a picture of the male attempting to open the window of the room and he typed a quick message back to his friend. NO NO NO NO STOP HIM NO I'LL SEE YOU GUYS IN A MINUTE STOP HIM! WTF EVEN HAPPENED! WHY DID HE THROW A FUCKING VASE?? after sending the quick message back to syndra, he turned toward his date and hoped she had not seen his turmoil.
"sorry about that. my friends are getting into some trouble over there." a quick glance over at miles saw the situation did not improve and stared at the scizor that was flying over to them. "uhhh MILES!" no no no he was not dealing with miles' angry scizor. his phone lit up once more and he saw this time it was from miles' himself. what the hell did he mean distract it? glancing up, he suddenly came face to face with the scizor and froze. "yeah i'm sorry my friend is an idiot." he glanced at harper and then to the glaring bug type. "ummm you can leave if you want to. i'm sorry that my friend interrupted and i..." this was turning into a disaster. first noah and now miles. "ummm here you can text me whenever you want and we can continue our conversation later. i'm really sorry." evan grabbed a napkin and wrote his pokenav information quickly in the chance the scizor will become impatient. he really didn't want harper to get involved with his friends' stupidity. HE didn't even want to get involved. "we can even meet up again and i can make it up to you. i'm just..." evan glanced back and forth between harper and the pokemon before turning to face the angry bug type. whether or not harper left was her choice but first he had to get rid of the angry bug. "hey scizor...you want a snack? what do you like to eat? we can go get it." he was getting a strong drink after tonight right after he blackened miles' other eye.
So that's love at first sight. Usa thought as he slowly leaned back in his chair. He slowly brought his hands off the table and rested them in his lap, trying to remember whether he had ever experienced anything like that. No memory came to mind. He peered down at his lap for a brief moment before looking up at Dylan. With a smile, he announced: "We should go look for her!" His facial expression was one of determination. His eyes were filled with admiration. How cool was it that Dylan wasn't afraid to say what he did? Really cool! Usa wished he could be so open with his feelings. Alas, he often found himself quoting textbook information to mask how he truly felt about a situation.
But, the rules stated that they had to remain at their table, and Usa was definitely not one to break the rules. Scratching his cheek with his right index finger, he muttered: "On second thought, maybe we should wait until the speed dating ends". His gaze quickly fell to his lap. I should have thought that through a bit...why am I acting not like myself? Am I getting too carried away here. I am. I need to take a deep breathe and just calm down...
Post by Dylan Allardice on Jul 9, 2015 0:56:14 GMT
Dylan's blush slowly faded as they moved away from the topic. His smile returned to his face again and laughed a tiny bit. "No, no, it's fine if I don't see her here. . ." He muttered quietly, he knew that was a lie. He wanted to see her here very badly, he just had to put himself down before reality did it for him. "I appreciate your offer Usa, but I don't think she's even here." He added, each word he said hurt him in his heart deep, but this was reality wasn't it? She wasn't here, he hadn't seen her at all.
His smile turned weak and he nodded. "Yeah let's wait till the speed dating ends, then maybe. Just maybe I will get to see her." Dylan said trying to heal the wound in his heart. "Just maybe." His Riolu sensed the sadness coming off him, and quickly hopped into his lap hugging his trainer. "Riolu!" He said trying to cheer him up.
Usa took a deep breathe to gather himself. He feared that the excitement from being there had caused him to behave out of character. In his head, he revisited the lessons he learned from the many books he read. These lessons were what he used to determine how to behave in social settings. An image of a strong and just hero popped into his head. This was how he hoped others would see him - strong and just.
He took another deep breathe and returned his gaze to Dylan. His chest held a little higher now, he leaned forward to console him. "I'm sorry I brought up the idea. It was insensitive of me given the situation we're in. I'm sure you would much rather be sitting here with your friends right now". He smiled softly, hoping that a smile would let Dylan feel a little better. But, he knew that that would only be a temporary fix. He recalled moments when he was separated from his brother, how alone he felt. He was sure that Dylan was feeling the same way.
The sight of Dylan's Riolu comforting him, made Usa smile even more. He had a soft spot for stuff like that. "Your Pokemon loves you tremendously. I can tell by just watching you two". His voice seemed more relaxed now, and his posture was less tense. He looked down at his Absol just in time to catch Pokemon flash a smile at him. Still looking at his Absol, Usa began to speak: "I think you should try to have some fun tonight. Eat lots, dance lots, and make lots of friends". He returned his gaze to Dylan. "Even though your friend isn't here, if you're hearts are truly connected, kinda like how you and your Riolu are connected, she will sense that you're happy and having fun, and that will definitely make her happy as well". He tilted his head to the side and smiled.
Yami blinked realizing the names sounded pretty similar in origin to his but instead of bringing attention to it he simply grinned and replied. “That’s a pretty awesome name. Suits him, yeah?” He scratched Machiko affectionately under the chin and she purred like a motorboat for a moment before letting out a small mewl of greeting towards both pokemon and trainer. Her tail lazily twirling as she rested easily in her human’s grasp, feline eyes studying both and gauging them intellectually. “Since he’s your starter, I’m guessing you’ve got him pretty leveled up??” Usually he met quite a few people who liked making their starter pokemon much stronger than their other pokemon so he wondered if it was the same for the young man in front of him. His steel colored gaze wandering back to the bug type before falling to his Glameow, the feline was something he was much more attracted to than bug types. They were cool and all but just not his type, he leaned more towards psychic and feline types.
“Thanks. Her name’s Machiko, she’s the second pokemon I managed to catch.” He chuckled lightly at the kid’s word choice and shook his head slightly, a lopsided grin curling his lips. “Nah, it’s okay honestly. It’s refreshing so don’t apologize.” Yami liked to think he was rather laid back most times and just rolled with the punches, he took what he got and the kid wasn’t too bad in all honesty. He could have gotten someone much worse, his eyes drifting towards where the commotion had been happening and silently praying he wouldn’t get someone like that. His eyes drifted a little more and he caught sight of a head of blonde hair for a moment. He straightened in his seat for a split second wondering if that had really been who he thought it could be before the kid caught his attention again.
The brunette quirked his head to the side in curiosity, a bemused smile playing along his lips as he asked, “Are you also helping Birch?? He mentioned having other helpers but he never said who they were.” He let out a thoughtful hum as he absently stroked Machiko’s fur before he said, “Well I’m not too surprised he has a lot of helpers. There are tons of pokemon and everyone sees things differently so he’ll get lots of opinions I guess.” He blinked at the kid’s question but actually gave it some serious thought, leaning back in his chair so it balanced on two legs for a moment before he set it down and smiled lightly. “I’d honestly have to say Sapphires would be mine. Oh! And I’m from the Kanto region so I guess you’d be the native.” He seemed to keep meeting people that were far more familiar with the region than he was and it was a little disconcerting but he simply brushed it away.

Dylan took a moment to play with his Riolu, the Pokémon would be pretty sad if its Trainer completely blew him. He hugged Riolu back, and in return Riolu nuzzled Dylan's stomach tickling him a enough to make him laugh, accomplishing it's mission of making Dylan happy once more Riolu released Dylan, and Dylan released Riolu from the hug. The Fighting Type would then received a pat on the head. "Riou!" He exclaimed flipping off of Dylan's lap and back towards Absol. "Heheh. . ." Dylan laughed again, he loved that little tyke.
Dylan looked back towards Usa, his smile regained all it's strength and he noticed how Usa was changing his position again, he looked more adult-like, almost as if he suddenly gained a few years. "Don't apologize Usa, if we weren't in this situation I would gladly get up to look with you, not insensitive at all." He paused and then laughed a bit at what Usa said. "But we are friends aren't we? So I am sitting here with my friends!" He added and laughed a bit more. "I bet you're feeling the same there's probably someone else you'd rather be talking to than me, right?" He said and glanced at the other people talking. He noticed someone who looked almost identical to Usa, but he didn't want to blurt out the obvious.
He shifted his gaze back to Usa again and nodded. "Yeah, just like your Zubat, it may be a little trouble maker, but I can tell it just came out to see you specifically." He replied and nodded again, noticing Usa's gaze shift to his Absol. "I hope you enjoy your night as well, and meet a bunch of new people. We both already made one new friend tonight so it wasn't a total bust!" He added and then waited for Usa to finish speaking. "I do hope so, I'd love to be able to bring a smile to her face." Dylan finished, his feelings of sadness and doubt were all flushed away now.
Sensing a shift in the overall atmosphere of their interaction, Usa eased back into his chair. He shook his head in agreement with Dylan's statement. "Us leaving as friends has certainly made this night a success in my book" he proclaimed joyously, "and, I got an opportunity to see a Pokemon I wouldn't normally see". As he spoke, he smiled at Riolu.
He was more comfortable now and his exchange with Dylan was far less painful. This prompted him to look around the room to see how well everyone else's conversation was going. Eventually, his gaze reached his brother who sat a few tables over. Risu seemed to be doing well, which was not at all surprising. Whereas Usa had a tendency to overthink things, Risu simply went with the flow. In situations like these, that little trait of his was far more beneficial than Usa's textbook approach.
Usa watched his brother for a moment before returning his focus to the table. "So, any plans for the rest of the evening?" he asked with a smile.
Post by Dylan Allardice on Jul 9, 2015 21:10:43 GMT
It seemed Usa was no longer tense in Dylan's eyes, that made him happy that they both could relax now. He nodded in response to them both having a successful night so far and in becoming friends. "Yeah! Leonidas is a really rare and powerful Pokémon I hear. It's amazing to see one up close." Riolu waved towards Usa noticing that he was being looked at.
Riolu then sat down and leaned against Absol again. "Riolu!" He said, telling Absol how nice his trainer was. Dylan smiled at both the Pokémon getting along so well, he pulled out a tiny case from his pocket which contained two Pokepuffs and placed it down in front of both of them. "One for you, one for Leonidas." Dylan said and then sat up straight before leaning back into his chair. Usa and Leonidas were both nice people, he couldn't help to wonder how strong they were as trainers, maybe one they the two could battle for fun. "Maybe next time." He muttered to himself and smiled widely.
"My plans for the rest of the evening? I guess look for Fiona, get some food, dance, meet more people." Dylan said, there really wasn't much to do at this Gala, except talk to other people, dance, and eat.

emma enters the room, her white sundress flaring out behind her. she adjusts her poorly fitting swablu mask, blue with cloudy accents in the side. she's just in time to make it to her date. she doesn't know how she got into here -- she thought she signed up for some food or something, but if she meets some cute boys to marry she's willing to do that, too!
she approaches the table, finding a nicely dressed man. he looks a little annoyed, just like how big bro would look when she entered the room. well -- that's not going to stop her! she's going to enjoy this herself.
"of course not!! i'm as young as can be." emma says with a thumb pointing back at her chest, exuding all the confidence only an eleven year old could. she walks to the table and plops herself down. the rustling causes alice to chirp and flutter angrily, nearly poking her eyes out with her sharp talons. she's sitting on her head, slightly flighty but still functionable.
"what's your name, mister?" she asks, eyeing his clothes. he has a nice top hat! maybe she should've gotten one too. if only the boys dressed this nicely at her old school -- she'd be marrying them all over the place. she puffs her chest out proudly when he refers to her as a madam, though, because she looks that sophisticated.
she turns in surprise at the lady who punches the man, and then they start a pokemon fight!! woah, that's cool. she runs around the table to duck under it just in case some debris manages to fly towards her. there's dating and pokemon battling! this is thrilling. if there's any other time to make rash actions like in those movies, now's the time. she turns to him, clutching at his arm and elbow.

oh i just died in your arms tonight whoa, whoa broken hearts lie all around me, and i
He stared at the girl infront of him, with all the perfectly masked disgust the world could manag to offer. The girl was so hideously adorable it was difficult to describe exactly what he felt when she blissfully disregarded his sarcasm and began to show off her youth. He gave her one of those slow, fake smiles where your teeth are touching each other and your lips are practically twitching from not wanting to stay in that shape.
He's about to launch into condesceding adult mode when suddenly there's a loud noise. Unsurprisingly, the girl is more reactive tham him and before Julius can even judge what's happening, the girl's on his elbow, asking if he wants to get married.
He gives her a look a pure shock, and then his face looks horrified. But sometimes-- thinking back to Cassandra who stopped answering his calls, and Andrea, who was probably launching a fist fight in the other room for all he knew, he gave an exasperated sigh and a thoroughly annoyed eyeroll.
"Why the hell not."
He stood up and sunk down behind the table along with the girl, watching with mild interest as a familiar-looking redhead is assaulted.
He paused, wondering what this could imply.
"You're not being serious, right?" he quickly asked, wondering if he had made the worst decision in his life. What wonders 5 minutes of speed dating could bring about...
[attr="class","colorful1"] She can’t believe the speed dating had turned out like this. Her Pokemon refusing to listen and standing its ground for an unnecessary battle she refused to allow happen in the first place, her hair getting sliced by an angry Scizor and her date for the first round going home with a black eye. Everything that could have gone wrong had, but somehow she felt the participants in the next room over were having a harder time given the noise erupting every few minutes. It was at least some comfort in what would easily be labeled
She couldn’t believe that her speed date had turned out like this. First her hair getting sliced by her dates Scizor, her Pokemon taking it upon himself to stand his ground for a battle that she refused to allow happen -- oh, and of course, the possibility of her date going home with a black eye. Nothing was going her way. As her hands gripped the hard shell of the bug type, digging her fingers into its body to pull its heavy mass off what remains of the tables decorations all she could hear was her date, the sounds of friendly chatter amongst their room and the occasional loud noise from the other beside them. Whatever was going on there sounded worse than this, which to Judith at this moment sounded hard to believe.
It’s only when the other Pokemon leaves their table upon whatever notion the boy gives that it slowly moves on its own accord, jumping to the ground in a hard thud and stilling, eyeing the Scizor from a few tables over. “Stop it you little troublemaker,” her whispers, nudging her starter with the tip of her shoe before staring at the redhead as he slowly takes his seat again. He states something she herself was thinking when he calls her by a name she doesn’t recognize, talks to her as though they’ve known each other for months now -- but before she can do anything to ease the confusion they call off the round, recites a new list of participants; and she must move.
There’s disappointment in her eyes, in the way her expression turns as she watches the doors open -- and the way she sighs as she takes a single step away from the table. “I don’t think I have time for that right now, but you know what,” she begins, her hands jotting down a number on a stray napkin tossed about on the tabletop before sliding it over to the boy. “If you give me a call after this whole thing we can sort everything out. Plus I think I owe you a drink for that eye, and you for… well, this.” she says, pointing to her hair with a smirk curling at her lips. “No hard feeling, okay?” Those are the last words she gives as her hands take hold of her Pokemons horn, gripping it until she can tug it gently with her -- pulling its attention away from the Scizor in the room -- and waving the boy off before she passes through the door into the next room. At least there’d be memories from this, and possibly a new friend if things ended well.

He cannot by any means call it a success. Just as the two were about to get somewhere in terms of working this misunderstanding out the bell dings calling for the groups to move on to the next room. Just as the woman manages to scoot her own giant bug off the table. With the ding there's hope that his next date will go better, but leaving things unresolved didn't exactly sit well with him either. It seems the woman across feels the same.
They both feel rushed because they are, disappointment lingering in both their eyes now the two getting ready to move, out of the corner of his eye he can see Scizor and Evan the human glaring daggers at him, daggers that were effectively being ignored in favor of the girl before him. She drops her number while the man gathers his mask and his hat. He places the mask on effective immediately, hiding his swollen eye from unwanted eyes. "Maybe even a dance, that is if I can see later." A short chuckle follows the comment hoping the girl doesn't decide to swing again his other eye vulnerable.
He slides the napkin into his breast pocket his anger having faded now, "Yeah... I'd like that." The girl gives her farewell, both leaving somewhat pacified Miles placing the white hat atop his head once again, "No hard feelings." He mumbles when the girl is gone feeling more strange about the entire interaction now. He doesn't have time to really contemplate it anymore, not wanting to deal with scizor at the moment the red head leaves the blade pokemon with Evan for now moving to the next room where hopefully a better date lie in wait.
"Guess I can't be angry, I got a number out of it, yeah?" He muses quietly before leaving himself the majority of the crowd having left already.
